Meg is smart, artistic, fiercely independent and bored. Disillusioned by the plastic life of Los Angeles, Meg retreated to live an exceedingly ordinary life in the quaint and friendly island of Montcovery, where no one could hurt her again.
She is a control enthusiast with strong convictions and her rules are set in stone- work hard, be financially independent and say no to romance. But when rockstar Steve Ford crashes into her, sparks strike off from the outset and soon Meg realizes that he is everything that she shouldn’t want- a whole lot of hotness.
~~~
When rugged & sexy Steve Ford, the guitar player of Guns of Anarchy, left L.A. for Montcovery, his plans didn’t include falling in love. Steve has always lived a fast life. For him, wild parties, adoring fans and overindulgences are a norm but now he is pretty sure that he cannot live that way anymore. Not when he is stuck in the worst songwriter’s block of his life.
They had nothing in common. She is practical to a fault and he is too flamboyant, too unserious and too L.A.
After their initial war of words, Meg and Steve fall into an accidental attraction only to realize that their chemistry runs much deeper than flirtation. The last thing she needs is to open her heart to a man who will be leaving soon, didn’t matter how much he awoke her long forgotten need to love…
This is a clean contemporary romance with a happily ever after ending. There are a few F words scattered here and there, but well, what else do you expect from these rebellious rock stars?
I absolutely enjoyed reading this wonderful story! It was really lovely. Now excuse me please I have to go and get myself a rockstar =P
The Story: Meg prefers her quiet and normal home on the island of Montcovery to the plastic party life of L.A. The island became really popular over the last years and tourists and celebrities are frequenting the town, bringing money and business. Though very few people find their way into Meg's bookstore and even with the few designed t-shirts she's selling, Meg is still struggling to pay all the bills and taxes. When rockstar Steve Ford crashes his Ferrari into the beloved house Meg inherited from her grandma, the wall isn't the only thing breaking because the shield around her heart starts to crumble the more time she spends with Steve. But their lives are too different to fit together and Meg worries about his intentions. Steve has to leave Montcovery at one point but will he be able to leave Meg behind? Is there no chance for their romance to fully blossom?
Thoughts: Meg was a strong character despite her loneliness, lack of income and self-consciousness because she always pulled through and became an independent person. She even pushed away the person she loved to keep herself from getting hurt. (Btw I would be too selfish to do this. *g*) I wish there was a bit more of Steve - in the second part of the book at least - though I think it was still really well written because we got to know more of Meg and her family problems. Lizzy claimed that Steve wasn't the typical rockstar and even though I wanted to believe her I didn't really see that throughout the book. Anyway, I loved this story because it felt like a real life story and wasn’t overdone and the characters truly warmed my heart.
The romance progressed rather slowly which can be dangerous in books when it feels like it’s dragging but this author pulled it off really well and I was enthralled by the magic of the love story. Besides, I prefer this a thousand times to all the insta-love stories.
This was the second book that I’ve read from this author and I'll definitely read more of her work.
-- I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. --
I thought this was an interesting cute read that is Intriguing and, suspenseful. The author gives you characters that hold your interest. There are parts I really liked and others not so much. I loved the humor which had me chuckling
Meg is in a struggle on how to keep things going and keep the upkeep of her grandmother’s home. She needs to go to LA for her sister’s wedding. Just so much to worry about, take care of , way too much to do and not enough hours to get it done. Steve crashes into her world in the middle of the night. When she finds out he is in a famous band she fights her attraction. That is a road she really doesn’t want to go down. She is going to have to make up for mind if he is worth the chance and if she really wants to live in a city she really doesn’t like.
This was cute and at times funny. It is a story that keeps your interest with some great characters. ******************************
I found this book quite easy to read and follow. Meg and her family dynamics set the pace for the romance aide of the story, Steve and his rock star lifestyle looking for his piece of private haven of sorts coming together at the end.
If your looking for a light hearted romance with a but of humour this book is a good pick
I enjoyed reading this story about Meg, a woman down on her luck and short of cash but who is trying to live her life her own way using her own creativity and drive. Steve Ford, a famous singer, crashed his sportscar in the side of her house one night and he brings her into his world of music, alcohol, band conflicts and unwanted attention. "As she thought of him landing on top of her earlier, Meg realized that it was the most exciting thing that had happened to her in all of her time at Montcovery. The heat between them was unmistakable, colored by the scent of his aftershave, wet leather and the intimate fragrance of a pure man." "You have a lovely house. It just radiates with a positive energy." Things just became interesting when Steve was around. It didn't hurt that he had a sharp, sarcastic sense of humor. It also didn't hurt that the more time she spent with him, the better he looked. I could eat you like an apple, Meg thought to herself as she bit into an actual apple and stole a glance at him." This was a good contemporary romance novel, it does need a little bit of polishing with editing but was still time well spent for this avid reader. I chose to read this book and all opinions are my own and unbiased.
A free e-copy of this book was given to me in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
I was surprised at how smooth of a read this was. This is a nice contemporary romance about Meg, an independent artist trying to make it in the world of graphic designs T-shirts. Steve, on the other hand, has no financial problems, being in a super-famous band Guns of Anarchy (I liked the name of the band - a combinations of Sons of Anarchy, a great show, and... Guns N' Roses, I assume?). When these two meet, two worlds collide - quite literally. Steve straight off drives his car into Meg's house.
I liked reading about them falling in love, there was definitely chemistry between them. However, the whole story was so cliché-laden that I didn't feel like I got anything new from this story. The stock characters that made up Meg's unloving and evil family were the most painful to read about, for example.
Still, it was a pretty good read and easy to read. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and fast read.
Meg is struggling trying to figure out how to keep her grandmothers house and keep the bookstore running plus she has to back to LA for her sisters wedding. When Meg gets awakened by a crashing sound she discovers Steve crashed into her stone wall and after helping him out she lets him hang out until his help comes the next day. Her employee Lizzie is excited to see him because he is in a famous band and when Lizzie meets the rest of them she is done for. Meg doesn't want to be attracted to Steve but she can't help herself except he is going home soon back to LA and Meg hates LA but something comes up and she goes early before her sisters wedding. There are some really funny moments and some made you really mad but all and all a good story with interesting characters.
I really enjoyed the book. The author has a unique engaging style that from the beginning intrigued me to enthusiastically read along. I highly recommend this book!
I received this ebook free for a promise to review. This book took me far too long to read. I want to say I liked every bit of it, but for something to take me 3 months to read, something has got to be off. I liked the idea of the story. I think the problem was it was predictable. I knew how it would end so there was nothing drawing me back to it. The story was OK, but I had to fight myself to finish it. I want to say I loved this book, because the story line had a lot of promise, but for me, it was just OK.
