A group of "outsiders" have come to the Rockwood Home for the Criminally Insane to run experiments on the notorious murderer Frank "Switchblade" Butz. He has now escaped and the body count is rising faster than the heat. It's now up to the weekend volunteer Earl Tubb and his junior partner Lester Boone to show the whole town that they are just the ones for the job...Or so they think!

~I received a free copy of this book for my honest review!~
The mix of horror and comedy in this piece are beautiful! It’s clear the author has a love of cheesy horror movies. This book is about an insane man who escapes an asylum and does what he loves best—killing people. The police force is on a fishing trip leaving just two weekend volunteers to find him.
I loved the way the author created characters that are stereotyped but in a comically interesting way. For example, the small-time police who have no idea how to face a psychopath and the psychopath himself. This book had me laughing quite a few times. It’s for that reason that I would recommend this book to people who are fans of the “Scary Movie” franchise.
Take a B-movie about a psycho killer and combine it with the cheesiest sci-fi movie, and you have this story. Like violent stories? You're in luck, someone dies pretty much every other page. It does get pretty funny, at times. But, this is by no means a thriller novel. This is blood and guts for the sake of gore. Thank goodness the drawings are in black and white! Oh, and we can't forget, this story is loaded with some of the dumbest characters to every grace a book.
Did I enjoy the story, despite the above description? I'm ashamed to say I did. Who knows, you just might enjoy reading this tale as well...
This book is good therapy for any frustrated person who likes a horror action mishmash from something like From Dusk Till Dawn, the Michael Douglas movie Falling Down, with the antagonist Switchblade going around killing people, like in many so-called 'B-rated action horror movies'. The characters will remind you of the kind of characters you see in films like Cabin Fever (yup they exist).
I got this book from a free giveaway and oh boy am I glad I did. This book was hilarious! It was a really fast read. Read just like a campy B Movie. Loved every second of the terrible dialogue and the descriptions of the action scenes. If you want a book that you can just laugh at the terribleness of it, this is the book. So bad it’s good!
It might be the only slasher where the killer takes a dump on the cop's desk and leaves a note next to it. Doubt I'll be forgetting that anytime soon. Hope I didn't spoil anything!
