Lexi Carmichael mystery series #8. Best read in series order. STEM.
Elvis received a package from his estranged father which contained a biological toxin. Lexi, Elvis and Slash head to Egypt to track down the man and the artifact that is rumored to have been found.

Lexi, Slash and Elvis track down the staff of Moses and find hidden secrets. Then she and Slash run around town with the 6 foot artifact and pretty much do that unnoticed. Lucky or unlucky, Lexi again solves the crime while tripping over enamored men and animals and hacking into the computers of the enemy.

LOVED!!! Wow, just, wow....each book in this series is better than the last. Lexi is a very intelligent woman who is a whiz at computers and coding who gets sucked into her best friend's father's problems. Unfortunately, as smart as Lexi is, she is equally clueless at understanding people and social clues. Her boyfriend, Slash, helps with this, but Lexi still manages to get into trouble anyway. I really love how Lexi and Slash's relationship has progressed over the series.

The bulk of the novel takes place in Egypt and the descriptions made me feel as though I was actually there experiencing the country along with the characters.

I can't even begin to imagine the amount of research that went into this book, but the result is a tightly woven mystery dealing with a complex topic in a way that is engaging and easily understandable.

This is a must read. Again, this is a must read. While it is part of a series, this is a stand alone novel - however, the series is so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all.

Oh, Lexi. Only you could stumble onto something as epic as what you found here just by going to visit a friend. I kinda like your style. You just take all the crazy being thrown at you and run with it.

Sometimes literally.

This time around, Lexi's off to Egypt to help her BFF Elvis with a few unresolved issues his estranged father has tossed into his life. Her most excellent boyfriend, Slash, joins them (because he knows what sort of trouble Lexi can get in when not properly supervised, I presume) and they head off to cause some shenanigans. Actually, they head off to fine Elvis's father. The shenanigans are just a byproduct.

As always, I adore both Lexi's smarts and her endearing social awkwardness. I appreciate a woman whose knee jerk reaction to hearing she has a fan club is to run and hide. Also, I like how Lexi so often overthinks the little things that happen between her and Slash, blowing them all out of proportion before taking a deep breath and confronting any issues head on.

What can I say? The lady is fearless.

Already the 9th Lexi Carmichael book and they keep up the great pace and plotting.

It is just before the wedding of Basia and Xavier and Lexi is packing up to move to her new home, with Slash. I love how their relationship is building and how well he knows her. There are some hilarious moments in the first chapters, before another adventure starts brewing.

Elvis has received a package from his long-absent father and the contents are enough to raise alarm bells and have Elvis, Lexi and Slash flying to Egypt to find Mr Zimmermann. With them travels a new character, Gwen. She is a colleague of Elvis and a big fan of Lexi :-) I won't spoil too much about that. I liked Gwen a lot.

I was - again - amazed at the research that must have gone into this book. I could not stop reading as the story moved on in a fast pace. I have been to Egypt once a long time ago but it seemed spot on to me. The story is once more a nice mix of adventure and personal growth.
We learn more about Elvis and there are some wonderful moments between Lexi and Slash. I feel Lexi is still growing and changing and I love her!

Personally for me when authors create a series by book 9 the stories are the same and the characters are turning in circles. Not with Julie Moffett the Lexi Carmichael series keeps moving forward expanding the world Julie Moffett has created and I can't get enough of this series. Each story builds amazing relationships where readers become invested. They cry when the characters cry, they cheer where characters cheer and they laugh at all the hi-jinks Lexi gets into.
No Living Soul had me laughing out loud.
I can't wait for the next in the series.

The gang is bank and they are off to Egypt. Elvis’ estrange father send him a package that has him, Slash, Lexi and Gwen flying across the world in order to find him. Museums, ancient mysteries, scary spores are just some of the things that are thrown at them. Lexi’s social awkwardness takes a direct hit when they need assistance from the very beautiful Zizi. There’s lots of surprises along the way that keep this mystery moving at a very fast hard-to-put-this book down pace. And oh my gosh, Lexi, camels or dogs are combinations that should not exist. Hands down, they were my favorite parts in the book. I couldn’t stop laughing.

I just love this this series. Mystery, laughter, adventure and great characters, really there’s nothing to hate here. There are quite a bit of plot twisting here that had me rushing to devour this book. Not so much a lot of hacking this time around but there still was a lot of excitement for me to enjoy. The detail the author put into describing Egypt blew me away. As for the whodunit, I saw it coming! Well only sort of. I was right on the who but not the why. I was waaaay off on the why and I commend anybody who got it right. When it all gets spelled out it makes sense but the collecting of the puzzles pieces never would have given me the indication of why.

I’ve only started reading Lexi Carmichael Mystery series recently and already I’m addicted. Between the mysteries, the situations they find themselves in and the laugh out loud clumsiness of super nerd Lexi, I know this is one series I will continue to follow. It’s great for anybody who wants a fun entertaining, mystery book to enjoy that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Suspenseful, thrilling, complex!! This time around Lexi, Slash, & Elvis travel to the sweltering, mysterious land of the pyramids to track down Elvis & Xavier's long missing father who appears to be in possession of ancient deadly endospores capable of creating a worldwide pandemic! In each outing our socially awkward computer extraordinaire Lexi Carmichael grows more confident & gutsy. I love the way the relationship between Lexi & Slash has evolved. There is no doubt how much they love each other. Both have found the person that completes them. You can also feel the tension grow as our group rushes to find the missing spores & possible antidote before terrorists can use them for jihad! Interspersed are moments of sheer hilarity as poor Lexi has to deal with an amorous dog & camel. I found myself alternating between laughing out loud and gripping my seat in suspense. As always with Moffett's Lexi Carmichael books, an absolute must read!!

Computer Geek, Lexi and her and deadly boyfriend, Slash are off to Egypt with her best friend and fellow geek, Elvis Zimmerman. They are on the trail of Elvis's long estranged father who is hot on the trail of a long missing ancient artifact. Solving code is Lexi's talent but with this puzzle being written thousands of years ago, she may be stumped. Finding the artifact and cracking the code before the bad guys is essential to the health of the entire world. This series entertains with lovable geeky characters. The plots are well done and the mysteries will keep adventure and cozy lovers both turning the pages. You can start with any book in the series as background is given to make the characters and action clear.

I just love this series so much, Julie Moffett is definitely one of my most favourite authors they way she writes the Lexi Carmichael series with such, intelligence, suspense, mystery, adventure and even the perfect mix of romance and humour these stories always make the perfect read, re-read and re-read again.

This series is still going strong, book 9 now and it continues to be a model of consistency in terms of how much I enjoy each one. I know I sing Lexi’s praises in each book but she is quite refreshing. Yep she’s socially clueless (and sometimes some of these moments are a bit OTT) but she’s so competent at her job that I really enjoy that whole aspect of it. She has great intuition and she rarely needs help. She’s no damsel in distress.

The books alternate action close to home with ones that are set overseas and this is one of the latter with much of the action taking place in Egypt. Apart from a bit of skepticism about Slash getting the okay from his FBI minders to even do this trip (Egypt is not exactly described as the safest of foreign locations for tourists, let alone ones that the American government like to keep their eye on) I was able to sink into this story pretty easily. I found the introduction of the Zimmerman twins’ father really interesting as there’s still quite a lot we don’t know about them, despite both of them being so close to Lexi. Particularly Elvis, who plays rather a large role in this story.

Her relationship with Slash continues to evolve (the two are about to begin living together) and although Lexi has a couple of moments of insecurity in Egypt she kind of still just gets on with things instead of allowing it to dictate her every thought and action. The thing with these two is there’s still a lot of delayed communication which can be a bit frustrating and Lexi has a tendency to kind of jump the gun and think the worse, probably because this is her first real proper relationship. There are times when she is bluntly honest with Slash and yet other times she sits on things when getting them out into the open would’ve been much better.

I find these books just really easy…..something that I can pick up and know that I’ll enjoy it, find the story something that holds my interest. I can also go back and reread most of them, which I’ve done several times to relive the evolution of her relationship with Slash which has been a really fun ride. He’s the one that I’ve liked the best from the 2nd or 3rd book.

Bring on book 10.

No Living Soul by Julie Moffett is the ninth book in her Lexi Carmichael series and had me hooked from the first page. Ms. Moffett's descriptive narrative had me right there with Lexi, Slash, and Elvis in Egypt.

Lexi has grown so much as this series has continued. Although she is still socially awkward she's beginning to slowly understand human interactions. Slash is just wonderful with her. You can literally see his love for her when they are talking. Lexi and Slash are a perfect couple both as "geek" super techs and as a couple.

The plot is amazing with so many twists that I had to actually slow down my normal reading speed to understand all of the nuances that were included as the plot evolved. A microorganism that could result in a world wide pandemic, terrorists hoping to use it for jihad, a Lexi fan club, and Elvis' missing father all led me on a wonderful trip of adventure with enough humor to keep me smiling. This could be read as a standalone, but I suggest that you indulge yourselves and read all of the books in this series.

This series completely cracks me up. I seriously love it! Lexi is one of my favorite series heroines, primarily because she isn't a typical heroine. She often doesn't understand the nuances of relationships, but she is always loyal. She would do anything for her friends, including getting back on a plane after her last experience was a horrific crash. Elvis needs her help, and she's not going to let him down. Lexi, Slash, Elvis, and Elvis's new researcher, Gwen, take off for Egypt to locate Elvis's absentee father. As always with this series, the story was a mix of serious moments, suspense, unexpected Lexi moments, and the sweet romance between Lexi and Slash. I enjoyed every second of it. The best part of the story for me was the budding relationship between Elvis and Gwen. Is it friendship; is it more? Personally, I've loved Lexi and Slash together but always kind of felt bad that Elvis never seemed happy, like no one could measure up to Lexi for him. Gwen gives more hope for a happy Elvis. I can't wait to see what happens!

A Must read humourous, adventureous fun read as Lexi and Slash save the world?

Wow! Julie Moffett has done it again. The 9th book in the Lexi Carmichael series is an amazing treat! With each book in the series we see brilliant yet naive Lexi Carmichael grow just a little more. When it comes to computers or logical thinking she is brilliant. When it comes to personal or emotional feelings she is still on a very steep learning curve! You have to love her. And then there is her boyfriend Slash who is mysterious, capable in love with Lexi and also has to learn to open up and given in to his emotions. Then there are their friends - in this book we see Elvis and meet a new character Gwen who is in awe of Lexi and we meet Arnold, Elvis' long missing father. Lots of emotional turmoil and lots of adventure and mystery while we travel with these characters to find Elvis' father and solve a potentiallly deadly mystery he is involved in. You just Can't put the book down! A terrific read full of humor, fun and adventure! Now I can't wait for #10!

Julie Moffett never fails me. No Living Soul was hilarious, adventurous and romantic, not to mention thought provoking. They mystery was outstanding but as always for me, it was the characters who stole the show. Not only to we see a new step in the evolution of the relationship between Lexi and Slash but we get to see Elvis taking a few more steps away from her. I love that Ms. Moffett lets him grow rather than leaving him clinging to his crush on his best friend.
An amazing and terrifying package from Elvis's long estrange father sends a group of the friends to Egypt where the drivers may be as terrifying as those trying to still the secret uncovered by the twin's father. New friends and new enemies provide additional draw to this already outstanding ninth book in the Lexi Carmichael Series.

This series is so much fun, and 9 books in, I'm loving it even more. Lexi is a brilliant, socially-awkward twenty-something, with a gift for finding herself in unimaginable, dangerous situations. No Living Soul's plot revolves around Elvis's father (which bumps it up a notch for me, as I love Lexi and Elvis together). Arthur Zimmerman has found something amazing that has the potential to decimate mankind, so it's up to Lexi, Elvis, Slash, and newcomer, Gwen, to jet off to Egypt, save the day, and make it home before Basia & Xavier's wedding! If you've read this series, don't stop now, because book 9 does not disappoint. If you're new to the series, start with book 1, and enjoy the ride!

I really enjoyed each book in the series. I've binged read each book and didn't get tired of the story. The characters were three dimensional and great with each succeeding book. If you want a funny heroine that has suspenseful storylines this series is for you. I will have a hard time waiting for a new book to be published.

I really enjoyed this book. I love ancient Egypt, so having Lexi, Slash, and Elvis go there in search of Elvis' father, which required visiting museums and the pyramids and ancient artifacts, was right up my alley. The mystery was fast-paced and enjoyable.

The book lost a star for me, though, because of a critical inconsistency--I realize this makes me pedantic and annoying, but I find this kind of inconsistency enough to pull me out of the story and that really annoys me when it's a book that I'm enjoying so much. In a previous book, Lexi described herself as being 5'11"--I noted that because that makes her really tall (as someone who is literally the average height for women). Then in this book: "It was almost a head taller than I was." followed in the next chapter by "I mean, who walks around with a six-foot staff in the middle of the night?" Unless we're talking Barbie heads, there's no way a 1" difference makes this anywhere close to a head taller than she is. Maybe if I hadn't just discovered this series less than a week ago and have been inhaling the books in order like...someone who inhales things really fast, I wouldn't have caught this. But I did. And it bothered me enough that I stopped reading and went back to copy down the relevant information for this review.

So if you're not as obsessed with trivial details as I obviously am, you should really enjoy this book. And if you are, well, now you know, so you should just be prepared for it and read it anyway because it's still a really excellent book.

Review: These was another fantastic installment in the Lexi Carmichael series! The author put together a story that has great twists that keep you guessing until the end. The relationships between Lexi and Slash and her other friends is inspiring and has both humor and depth. It was good to get more background on Elvis and Xavier and see how they were shaped by events. The pacing of the story is excellent

Although this is the 9th book in the series, I’ve only read 5 of them and I’ve enjoyed them for what they were. Quick, amusing reads with fun characters and outrageously unbelievable story lines. This book however, hit me a little differently. Has Lexi always been such a self centered whiner? I don’t remember her that way but it’s been awhile since I reas the other books. I do remember the terrible Italian accent the narrator used and I did think it improved greatly. Unfortunately her interpretation of Gwen, a new character, is an ear assaulting Valley girl. I try not to factor the narrator into the rating but sometimes it’s so overwhelmingly part of the experience of the book, I do. More than any of the reasons I do like this series, I felt the MC let me down. Whining about Elvis keeping a secret from her, whining about the dog, not funny just whiny. The allure of the series keeps me reading but this book would be a bad introduction if you haven’t already met and liked the characters.

L'intrigue de No Living Soul tourne autour du père d'Elvis, Arthur Zimmerman a trouvé quelque chose d'incroyable qui a le potentiel de décimer l'humanité, alors c'est à Lexi, Elvis, Slash, et la nouvelle venue, Gwen, de s'envoler pour l'Égypte, de sauver la situation, et de rentrer à la maison avant le mariage de Basia et Xavier !

Évidemment, rien ne va se passer comme prévu pour notre plus grand plaisir.

I don’t know why picked this book. Especially since it is in the middle of a series but I enjoyed it. When it started, I thought it was going to be a light little mystery. As I got to about 50 pages into the story, I realized I was hooked. The characters were fun and appealing. The plot unraveled slowly but it wasn’t slow.

The story was about some spores found in an Egyptian staff from 5000 years ago. The winds and winds around until the final discovery. A great mystery that left me wanting to continue to find the solution.

My only decision is to decide if I should go back to the first installment or continue from where this book left off. I am rather invested in the characters from this book.

Maybe 3.25 - 3.75 stars.

I love the characters. Lexi is awkwardly amazing, Elvis is just great, Slash is perfect. This installment brought in a couple of new characters, such as Gwen, a possible new love interest for Elvis, and Arthur, Elvis and Xavier's father. I liked all the twists and turns in trying to get through the issues, but parts felt a little disjointed. I sort of felt like the parts were there just to try to tie other parts together and it didn't really explain or resolve the issues.

Overall I enjoyed it. Only have to mention the camel, and I'm smiling ear to ear picturing the scene.

Julie Moffett has brought a group of misfits and square pegs to life and suddenly misfits fit and those round holes aren't so round anymore and the square pegs fit perfectly. This time we're off to Egypt and in a bittersweet twist, not all the gang is here. Lexi, Slash, Elvis and a new friend of Elvis are determined to find The Zimmerman's absentee father, clean up the mess he's made and get home in time for Xavier and Basia's wedding. Suspense, betrayal, espionage, terrorism, it's all there...along with an Italian Mastiff and a Camel named Arnold. Bravo Julie. Cannot wait for the next book and the new series featuring a young lady we met in this book, Angel.

"No Living Soul," by Julie Moffett is the ninth book in the author's Lexi Carmichael Mystery series and I can't say enough good things about the book because it had all the elements of a great mystery novel. An exotic setting, an intriguing and VERY suspenseful plot and a cast of unique characters.
I especially enjoy character-driven mysteries and the main character, Lexi, did not disappoint. While she often brags about her strengths - her high intelligence and incredible computer skills, she doesn't hesitate to reveal her weaknesses either. In other words, she's a "real" person and I liked her.
