This book offers part history and part observation of the time during the 2014 general elections in India. Phidalia has done a great job a writer and also as someone who can be an outsider and comment upon the ongoing conditions in the politics. She has wonderfully summed up the dawn - which metaphorically ushers the rise of Narendra Modi on the canvas of Indian politics and the fall or the Congress. She observes many other things in her book which is a worth-read!

All the twist and turns of general electi0n 2014 are pictured in this nonfictional work. A systematic record of all the stories was developed at the time. A journey through that insight and making of prime minister Narendra Modi. Failure of AAP and self-destruction politics of Congress has wonderfully described in this no fiction.

This book, I won't say is the best book on the issue. However, you cannot ignore the content as well as the issue picked to be written in the book... The rise of Modi in the central politics has always been an issue to be pursued by the authors but Phidalia has taken a different route. She is critical and ironically unbiased. She calls out the troubles and she praises the good things. She is neither all the praise nor all the hate mongering... a very well balanced political book which one must read!

Divided into 22 chapters, from the Dawn to the Misty Dawn, the book by Phidalia Toi analyses the rise of the lotus party in the national politics as the biggest player... she describes the charismatic figure of Narendra Modi by analysing his most powerful speeches in the campaign for national elections. She describes the scam-laden Congress and too much hoping Kejriwal and the causes of their downfall and fading away during the national election of 2014. At the very beginning, she clearly tells that her sources are newspapers, media reports, and other information in the public domain. And therefore, we don't see the powerful (maybe sentiment motivated) observations but whatsoever we see, that is well-balanced! You can expect other titles in the series to be like this - sharp and solid!

The Dawn by Phidalia Toi is a book which encapsulates the entire 2014 general election very wonderfully. It records the rise of one person and the fall of one party. The book is also an outsider's view on the first year of Narendra Modi government at the centre and it raises a few questions which are all but valid. Phidalia has planned to pen a book on each of the five years of Modi Government and she has begun with the Dawn which will go up to the fifth year. A must read book for all of those who are interested in politics as well as those who want to understand the 2014 general elections.

I used to be a critic of Narendra Modi to an extent (and I don't know why) maybe because I supported AAP without knowing anything about them... reading this book has taken me back to the days of those general elections when we used to listen to the political speeches day by day and keep swaying... whom to vote and whom to bring to the throne... Phidalia has worked wonderfully to make her points and you have to admit that she has got the points to make! Her deep analysis of the rise and the fall are sharp and well-addressed! I will recommend this book to the intellectual people who love to read witty analysis on the men of the moments!

The first instalment of the series of books on Narendra Modi's government at the centre and his promise of Acche Din, The Dawn is a surely a wonderful book by Phidalia Toi. She plans to write 4 more books in the series and each will reflect one year of the Modi Government. She details the problems, the achievements, the obstacles, the expectations, the aspirations.... her observations are really up to the point because it's not that they come out of nowhere but are based on the events and the observations by others - individuals and media. Her writing style is praiseworthy and after reading this one, I am waiting for her another ones in the series.

I am not very much interested in the politics but this book is neither written entirely politically! The author has made the assumptions which are based on the facts and this is a good sign for political interpretations and books on governments and elections. Unlike most other authors who write mostly their personal biases when writing a book like this, Phidalia has kept herself aloof from the loop and written the things which don't create unnecessary buzz. She has been an observer and her observations are up front!

This is a political analysis and which is very well done, indeed! I am surprised by the structuring of this book which commemorates for us the election, the events which led to the election's results and the events which led to the rise of Narendra Modi, the current prime minister of India. The author seems to have a clear and an objective view of the country's politics and she must be a keen observer of the changing scenario. Highly productive book which will even provide an insight to the readers with different political biases...

With a foreword by P Sangma and closing with a nice poem by the author, the book - The Dawn, indulges the readers in a serious discourse on the national politics in India which took a different path after the results of the general elections in 2014. The author who hails from the North-east part of India has shown that her observation and understanding of the Indian politics is no way lesser than those who are sitting in the studios and commenting upon the happenings in the national capital... a nice book to read!

I will recommend this book to all those tea-talkers who love to talk about politics and political affairs in the evenings and mornings or the afternoon lunches... The author has wonderfully summed up the 2014 general elections in her book and also told the readers her quality analysis behind the rise of the person of the moment, Narendra Modi. Her arguments are not out of the blue - she has backed what she said with the citations... a must read book guys!

Phidalia has unfolded the whole 2014 election build up for the readers through her deep analysis in fewer terms. Her research is unmatched for such a work as well as her writing perfectly matches the research... Surely, the elections of 2014 which led to a supposed paradigm shift in Indian politics is worth a topic to be written and for the good of it, she has done it for the readers. Waiting for new titles in the series.

To be sure of my election and politics' general knowledge, I just gave this book a random read and found that this is a book which knew more than I did! Phidalia has used her keen eye for detail and her writing is also unparalleled! The Dawn is a sure observation on the first year of Modi era at the centre as well as well as the run up to the election. I enjoyed reading this book too much and would happily let others know that they must read this wonderful piece.

This book, The Dawn, has come up with a bad timing as its only fault! The author could have delivered a masterpiece if the book was to be launched, by any means, just after the first year of Modi at the office... nevertheless, the analysis is super and I am expecting a new book by Phidalia soon which would sum up the second year of the Modi government and the tracking of those "Achhe Din".

This book draws the attention for major political parties of India to introspect. Strong words are used and against and favour of the parties. Find outs the root of making of Narendra Modi as the prime minister of India in 2014. Moreover, traces out the fact about how Congress annihilated and destructed in general election 2014.

We have gone pass the stage of humiliation for congress in 2014 election. In reality, it has done some psychological damage to their strategy making. We are witnessing the results still. The book is phenomenal in this context, that it gives verdict against and favour of everyone. Either to support Modi or criticise Modi's silence on frenzy group.

The forward of this book is written by a man of diverse manifestation of knowledge P.A.Sangma. The book is a journey that leads you to the conclusions of 2014 election. Though, the behind this book is to enlarge it in five parts. Hope second will come and we will will witness good work. The loop holes and strong points of PM Modi is described in a elegant manner.

This is a good book which takes you to the lanes of 2014 general elections. It opens up the layers and lets the readers know what were the circumstances which led to the downfall of the oldest political party in India and the rise of a hope-lured political wing - the Modi era! A must read book!

This book, critically, tells no new stories to the readers. However, it does one thing at best that it tells the already told stories with perspectives and analysis which are interesting to read. Political buffs will surely like it.

An interesting book! Very well structured and very well written political book by the author. The general notion about the political books is that they are motivated or guided by the prejudice of the author but here is none to be found. She praises the praise-worthy and denounces the suitable.
