Missy Solomon just needs to get through the next few weeks of student teaching. Then she’ll graduate and, hopefully, land a job at Serenity Landing High School. Maybe, somewhere in there, she could even find time to work on her Great American Novel - or at least her attempt to write one. Shane Wyatt noticed the student teacher, but hadn’t talked to her. Ever. Not even when they went to school together. But now they’re on the Christmas party committee together, and somehow, he’s invited her to spend Thanksgiving with his family. Christmas committees. Thanksgiving. Ex-boyfriends. A secret they’re both keeping. All of these get their first few days of friendship off to an interesting start. Toss in some mistletoe and there’s a Christmas story with an ending that would make the Happily Ever After Television Network proud.
When she's not writing about her imaginary friends, Carol Moncado is hanging out with her husband, four kids, and a dog who weighs less than most hard cover books. She prefers watching NCIS to just about anything, except maybe watching Castle. She believes peanut butter M&Ms are the perfect food and Dr. Pepper should come in an IV. When not watching her kids - and the dog - race around her big backyard in Southwest Missouri, she's teaching American Government at a local community college. She's a founding member and President of MozArks ACFW, category coordinator for First Impressions, blogger at InspyRomance, and represented by Tamela Hancock Murray of The Steve Laube Agency.
Carol Moncado never fails with her books. I've loved hers since her very first, Finding Mr. Write, and knew I wanted to follow her.
She takes us back to Serenity Landing with this one and we get to meet old friends again! Loved it so much. I can't wait for what Moncado has for us next!
*I was given a preview copy of this book. My review is my own.
Cute, sweet romance. Short- just a novella. I read through it quickly and enjoyed it though not as much as the whole Brides of Belles Montagnes series. I loved that the two main characters were both aspiring writers! This was a fun, quick diversion in between review books.
Read this novella in the Boxed Set Teachers and Tinsel. As a mother of three sons, Shane Wyatt is my kind of son - able to cook and clean. Mrs. Wyatt was a genius in how she handled the gossiping faculty. As a retired English teacher, I could relate with the story of small town schools, teachers, and wanting to publish the stories in my head. Carol Moncado is a talented author. I was immediately drawn into the story, identified with the characters, enjoyed being updated on previous characters. Teachers would enjoy this small town holiday read.
I really liked this story and felt for the characters struggling with their attempts at writing a book. It is good that they had contacts to help them. The other part of the story happens much to my sorrow. To suggest something negative another someone for their own gain it wrong.
A lovely romantic novella, set within a high school. But this time it is two teachers falling in love. They are keeping it light, but gossip may cost her job.
Shane & Missy’s Love was a plan of God. Shane’s true love held strong through the years as he patiently worked @ being her BFF. I love how he brought the pain of their teens out of her so she could realize her live for him. Great romance.
Missy is a student teacher, hoping for a permanent position. Shane already works for the high school. Both have dreams of writing. Cute story about these two and working towards their goals. We see a glimpse of some people from other books, but otherwise mostly these two.
Carol Moncado really knows how to craft a story. We are drawn into Serenity Landing and all the amazing characters that live there. Thanks for another great story.
Cute story. The characters could be people from a real town. The story has just the right amount of conflict and resolution. I look forward to reading more stories by this author.
Manuscripts & Mistletoe, written by Carol Moncado is book 2 of the Serenity Landing Teachers books.
As with many of Moncado's books, this book takes us to the popular town in her books of Serenity Landing and specifically the High School. It was enjoyable to see how Moncado developed her teachers in this book and the extra's such as businesses in the area which we've read about in her other Serenity Landing books. I love how she ties the fictional town together in her different series so that when the reader goes through the books they get just a bit more depth from knowing those little tid bits of information. BUT...if you haven't read the other books, this is definitely an easy standalone to read and understand.
This Christian Christmas Romance is an easy read for anyone who wants to get in the Christmas mood. Enjoyable, light-hearted, and just enough romance to get the heart a pitter pattering with a grin. I recommend this read!
I was gifted this book by the author. I offer my review on my own terms and with my own thoughts and opinions.
MANUSCRIPTS AND MISTLETOES by Carol Moncado. Another cute story of a young woman trying to find a place in her life. After getting her teaching credentials and not getting the one job she had applied for. All because she wouldn't change the kid's mark. Working on a Christmas party with Shane. He was a year older than her in school. To his impulse asking her to dinner for thanksgiving. How mishaps can led to something so much more. Given ARC by author for voluntary review and my honest opinion was given.
This was a cute story. I truly enjoyed how in this story you get to know two people who desire to work with high school students. All the drama and dynamics of trying to work in a school district as well as keeping their integrity while they discover they have feelings for each other. It was very sweet and also fun to connect with characters from other books written by this author. I highly recommend reading it if you'd like a good clean Christmas story.
