At first, I was disappointed that this didn't include very many recipes, and the recipes included didn't interest me that much. After I started reading the first part of the book, though, I was happy I did. The first part is full of biology and the technical aspects of the development of cancer. There is tons of useful, and very detailed, information for anyone who is interested in the biological workings of their body. It is written by two nutritionists for the lay person.
This was probably the most detailed book on the hows and whys or cancer, and available treatments and the best food to eat and drink for a non medical practioner. I confess that I skipped some of the technical portions on how cancers forms, but read the sections on food and nutrition thoroughly.
This book has helped me with preparing juices and blends for a friend with cancer, andprovides me with much more up to date info on the active enzymes that are complementary inthe treatment of cancer.
I liked the information but I found the book lacking in recipes which is what I was actually for. The chapters on the developement and background of cancer were informative.So if you are looking for a detailed overview of cancer and how foods, nutients and some suppliments as well and information about how to handle the various side effects associated with chemo,and radiation this book might be a good one to read.
When I first started reading this book, it took me a while to really get into it. I'm glad I stayed with it. it was packed with very important and helpful information that I can use.
It was a lot of biology and a little bit about food. It is a good reference book and worth reading if you either have cancer or are cooking for someone who does. (2010)
