It's official: I really, really, REALLY LOVE this manga! I'm on team Ririna for now, let's see if that changes in the following volumes! I'm really curious what will happen next, and how the story will play out!
🇬🇧 It would be a lie to say that I liked the more ‘romantic’ part. Firstly, I found it a bit too much to watch this for half of the volume. Secondly, I also found how Yukari dealt with Ririna a bit problematic. I know he didn't do it on purpose, but I can understand why Ririna reacted the way she did.
Unfortunately, I did not like this volume so much, but it will not discourage me to continue reading.
Honestly, I'm most interested in Nisaka's story line the most and I'm low key rooting for Lilina. Things get really weird and tense in this volume; the class they have to take is hella sketchy.

Dang. The government isn't playing are they. Holy crap that was crazy. I hope Neji can turn it around and all. That felt overwhelming. Like could you imagine
Bumping this up to 4 stars because after thinking about this "special course," it really does fit with the Yukari System and makes sense adds to this system's disturbing setup. Originally I was mad and disgusted which led me to drop my rating, and while I still think my feelings are valid, I honestly believe those feelings work in favor of how the reader views the Yukari System. This system is effectively brainwashing people into accepting that whomever the government pairs you with is your destined partner, and often these pairings occur when they're teenagers. You know, one of the most vulnerable times in a person's life and one where teens are constantly seeking validation for what they do and looking for someone to love them. In that case, I have to give this series props for creating a system that's disturbing and flawed without making the series too graphic or nightmarish. There were enough lighthearted moments to break up this section (I LOVED Lilina becoming friends with Arisa!) and the culture festival prep was fun. I'm enjoying rereading this series more than I thought and am looking forward to future volumes!

I had a few qualms with this particular volume which forced me to rate it 3 stars. While the characters were great and their interactions were well-written, there were some problems I had with it.
The biggest issue I had was with the "special course" Neji and Lilina attend. Umm, really? You're asking for teens to spend a night with people they've only known for two months and HAVE SEX WITH THEM?! In what alternate universe did the government think this was a good idea? What if the woman gets pregnant? What if a fight occurs? WHAT ABOUT CONSENT?! The fact that the government agents are so cavalier about this and make it sound like consent isn't an issue because "each couple is destined for each other" and "are perfect fits" is disturbing and creepy. It's almost like the government is brainwashing couples into believing that their significant other is so perfect that they don't need to question whether they want to have sex with them or not. Yet, as much as I disliked this aspect of the story, I have to say that it makes sense. It's becoming quite clear that the goal of the Yukari System isn't to create perfect couples but rather couples that will definitely produce children. The series drives home the point that the system was developed to combat decreasing birth rates and hammers home how the birth rate has increased dramatically since the system was introduced. As disgusting and disturbing as this "special course" is, it's not unrealistic for the story being told. I still hated it though and was devastated by how it affected Lilina and Neji.
The other issue I had was with Misaki's whole "when did I become selfish?" bit at the end of the volume. Sweetheart, you've been selfish SINCE DAY ONE. Stop acting like this is new, you've been acting in your own self interest since Neji confessed to you. I hate how we're supposed to empathize with her and this difficult position that she's in, but she's been so selfish and dishonest that's damn near impossible to feel sorry for her. And yes, I am perfectly aware teenagers are not the most honest/selfless people out there, but her acting like her selfishness is new is infuriating to say the least. I like her interactions with the other characters, but that scene really rubbed me the wrong way.
With all of the complaints that I had, I did enjoy parts of this volume. Lilina making a new friend was cute, Nisaka's dejection at having to play Juliet in Romeo and Juliet was fun, and I still love my girl Lilina. Still enjoying the series, curious to see where it goes from here.
