Frustrated by protesters, real estate developer Benton accepts an invitation to a Cois gathering, hoping to learn why they stand in the way of his new super mall. During the celebration an ancient tale is told - the story of a child lost and a duty broken.
His name was Emach. Raised on cruelty and betrayed by a woman, he seeks vengence, discarding what remains of his humanity to become a legend of evil. Fleeing pursuit, he hides within a small forest where he confronts something outside his realm of experience. The story continues, telling of a mute woman who struggles against her fear of a sacred forest and is given the choice of making the ultimate sacrifice to heal her husband.
With a special invitation by the Cois to witness a sacred ceremony, Benton struggles with his own reservations and enters the small forest which is the cause of the protests. There he learns why the forest is so important to the Cois and makes an unsettling discovery about himself.

A child was found in a snow storm by a traveling couple. The woman refused to leave him and when her cruel husband saw that not even a beating would change her mind, they kept him and his name became Emach. The husband was a cruel man and often used his cruelty on Emach, until he was old enough to be sold to the kings army. Emach was small and experienced cruelty in my form there until he could work his way up to the Elite Guards. In the Elite Guard Emach caught the eye of the kings nice who was very beautiful. She betrayed Emach and had him tortured and grown in the mines, this broke him and striped what was left of his humanity from him. Emach became a cruel, mindless killing machine. Until he wandered into the Skeekahr Kahll. This book is a short read, but almost inspirational without being religious. A child give to someone to take care of was lost and he was abused from the beginning, yet those people were forgiven with no retribution. So that makes book of forgiveness. Each the child did so many wrongs and was able to came as another person to do some good. So that makes this book of rebirth. Kypp is of the Cois people and a defendant of Emach. He trying teach Mr. Benton why he should not turn the land into a strip mall. So that makes this book about Cois history. This book is about many fictious things. It tells a beautiful story of how one abused child makes a life of cruelty to be reborn into a life of love. He is able to pass that life onto many generations with the help of the beings of and or in the Skeekahr Kakll. This was a great well written book. It was different and interesting to read.
Beautifully written, 'Reclamation' is a series of stories that function as parts of a whole. From beginning to end, the reader is entranced by the storytelling and the imagery used to achieve it. Frediani has embedded mysticism and beauty so skilfully in these stories that even concepts of corruption, degradation and justice are explored in ways that deepen the reader's understanding of the reclamation and redemption that occur throughout these tales.
A very mysterious and poignant element of this book is that the setting could be anywhere. It's not bound to a specific location or people group. Instead, the story is unified by the mystical elements that add so much depth and vibrancy to the story.
The reader is drawn into the stories and the places where they take place. The imagery was rich and powerful, creating vivid pictures of characters, scenes and landscapes as each story played out, almost like a film playing on a virtual screen in my mind.
This Book is a must read it will keep you hanging on to every word even when the book came to a end I wanted to read more I could really get into the people how your feelings come alive by how mean the stepfather was to a little baby to the love you feel as the people find there way truly a great reed I give this book 5 stars and more
I read this all in one sitting. Not usually a story I would have chosen, the sex at time was alarming, but the slow transition and individual stories, all blended together for redemption. Each section left me wanting more and I awoke this morning wanting to spend time in the forest.
This was an interesting novella. Four chapters, four distinct stories, yet all intertwined into a cohesive whole. I was intrigued from the outset, through to the very last words.
This story blends together feelings of medieval history, nomadic tribes, and modernity across generations with a shimmering gossamer thread. Beautifully stitched!
This story is hard to classify. Is it fantasy? Historical fiction? Fairy tale? All of the above? I'll just encourage you to read it for yourself!
Sandy Frediani’s novella captured me from the first chapter and I was unable to put it down. As the book followed the life of an abandoned baby from childhood to becoming the personification of evil to his redemption, I was swept along. The book takes on the flavor of a myth or a legend told throughout the ages. I strongly recommend Reclamation to anyone who loves fantasy and mythology.
One word - WOW. I loved this book. Definitely not for those who are...uncomfortable with more explicit adult themes, however. A journey in three intertwining parts, follow along and learn, just what happens to a soul, and whether it can be redeemed.
A beautiful story that show the circles of life. That year centuries can go by but eventually past wrongs will be righted. This is a interesting read tat keeps you guessing through the book to the very end. I recommend it.
