Many years ago I remember reading a fairy tale called, I think, The rose-coloured Spectacles. It told of a wonderful pair of spectacles which caused everything to appear different to the person who was wearing them. Things looked so Very changed as seen through these rose-coloured spectacles and so many new features were discerned, that people came from far and wide to look through them. Unfortunately the secret of the manufacture of the rose-coloured spectacles has never been discovered. An instrument has been made, however, which nearly approaches them, and actually surpasses them in the wonderful things it Shows. This instrument is the Microscope, and in this little book I Shall endeavour to help you to look through it and to see some of the wonderful things it reveals in the great realm of Nature.
