Distance No Object: Sheffield's Man with the Pram

Rate this book
He pushes a pram around the streets of Sheffield no matter the weather, wearing his green wig and waving his giant foam hand. For nearly 30 years, John Burkhill has dedicated his life to raising money for charity - and he says he won't stop until he's raised £1 million for Macmillan Cancer Support. Now for the first time, John shares his story in his own words. Full of moving memories and Yorkshire humour, it's the fascinating tale of a unique life - and why, for this man with a pram, distance really is no object.

must read for anyone from Sheffield, south Yorkshire (or anywhere really), its the story of a true Sheffield legend, anyone who has visited will of seen the mad man with his pram (his words) and green wig, raising money for McMillan cancer care, its great to lean more about this true inspirational character from Yorkshire, its a book of heartbreak, love, walking and charity, told with humor and clear love for the city (and people in it) he lives in, also worth noting that the money raised from this book goes to McMillan (hes close to raising a million pounds for them through various fund raising, as explained in the book)

Man with the Pram is a captivating tale of a Sheffield legend, known for his green wig and pram, raising over a million pounds for McMillan cancer care. I met him when I first moved to Sheffield when I was University and what a wonderful and friendly man he is. The book unfolds his inspiring journey of heartbreak, love, and charity with humour and a deep affection for the city. A must-read for anyone touched by the spirit of Yorkshire (or wanting to know more about a fundraising champion!). All proceeds go to McMillan so even more special! John you are an inspiration, thank you for sharing your story with us
