S. W. Frank resides in New York. Art, poetry, music and writing were always quiet joys. A former NYC emergency medical worker and contributing writer for her law school journal, the author decided to pursue the obsession of storytelling full-time. Since then she dusted off manuscripts and decided to share stories with the public.
The Guardian, 2013 article, 'The Gems of Indie Publishing' readers' have stated, "[S.W. Frank] is bold and unapologetic in her delivery."
The Alfonzo series, voted on Goodreads as 1 of the Best Mob and Multicultural/Interracial Romance's for 2012.
The author states, "I write stories with multicultural characters that are desirable, smart and intriguing. They're stories of interesting people that I wanted to read and my small contribution to literary world to include diversity."
Alfonzo just wants to enjoy life with his family while dealing with the normal day to day issues just like everyone else. Well, if you've been reading the Alfonzo Series, you know that life for the Diaz-Giacanti Clan is anything but the everyday normal. And if you're a true fan, you wouldn't want it any other way, and Assassin, which is book 22 in the series did not disappoint. In this new volume of the series, there are just as many twists and turns as we have come to expect from author SW Frank, There are also new problems to overcome, like who's the new threat to the family's well being. And this wouldn't be the Alfonzo Series we know and love without the action packed scenes and drama filled interactions with the characters that make you want to scream and shout right along with them, so thank goodness there's plenty of that in Assassin too. So of course I enjoyed this volume very much, but there's a surprise in book 22 that, depending on how you felt about a certain occurrence that took place a couple volumes back, will either have you cheering for joy or have you stomping mad, which makes Assassin that much more exciting to read. If you're a longtime fan of Alfonzo, I guarantee you won't want to miss this one. I'm giving this one 5 stars!
Another great read that I couldn’t put down. Not sure just what’s to come with the whole Princessa thing but I’m hoping it’ll make sense to have crazy come back. I guess Giuseppe needs a shake up but I’m hoping Kenya will be working with the Princessa and I can’t wait to find out who she actually is. Not sure why Lucia is gone but again, I’m thinking Sergio needed to be shaken up, hopefully this will make him cold and he’ll get with the team. Wondering what’s going to bring the twins back but with the ending I hope all hands will be on deck. Can’t wait for the next one because Nico has to show out!
The Alfonzo's Series should be read in order for maximum enjoyment. However, I didn't enjoy some of the books and was anxious to find out information about Shanda, so I skipped ahead and read Alphas. I had so many questions that I went back to see if my questions would be answered in Assassins. Most were.
SPOILERS!! I know why Anita was killed. I know how Lucia was killed and hated it. I know Yosef revealed himself as Chocolate's fathers but don't understand how. Alphas didn't answer. I understand the explosion at the press conference and who had it done. Too much is missing about Princessa. Don't know if I care enough to go back. END SPOILERS!
I read Alphas first but still had unanswered questions about Shanda and this book answered my questions. Too bad that I know what happens in Alphas but with everything fresh, I'll read Absolution. As usual, there's all kinds of action, drama and intrigue going on. It will keep you reading through the night, so be careful when starting this book. Sergio still has some growing to do. Lorenzo is turning into quite the Alpha. All of the people are pretty much the same except Alfonzo and Selange. Alfonzo seems depressed and mean and killing seems to be how he handles everything. Selange was always stubborn but she goes beyond that in her treatment of Alfonzo. It certainly helped Shanda for her to be stubborn but she could have handled things differently. Nico and Ari are the same. Ari used sex to manipulate Nico even at others' expense. It seems that Nico is weak when it comes to women and sex. I hope now that he's only weak for Ari.
I enjoyed this book enough that I'll continue with this series but don't believe that I'll go back and read the others I skipped. For me skipping worked, otherwise I would have given up on this series. I wouldn't advise that for others. On to Absolution. Hopefully, it won't be my last.
But not when it comes to the family they love. They will go to the ends of the earth to protect what is theirs' and fight hard for them to have a normal life. Nico takes time out with Ari and Alphonzo does the same with his family...but as always duty calls and threats need to be taken care of. Alphonzo's attempt to tell the truth about his family causes another attack by the royals.
This book shocked me with the arising of Shanda. She and Geo are now in a quandary. They both have a situations that needs to be dealt with. He has dreamed of Shanda and now she is really alive but they both have other people and children to deal with. My heart goes out to them. I'm praying in the next book they can work through these situations and reunite their family and love for one another.
The royal family has a lot to pay for and the princessa should die a slow death.
S.W. Frank does not fail with this plot and storyline. I could not put the book down. It held my attention from beginning to end. Great job! I just love this series. I wish it could be a TV serial.
Secrets and lies! Gotdayumm, my heart raced the entire time I was reading! I am blown... I was not ready!!!
I cannot talk about this book without giving away all the juicy details, but if you are a fan of the series and have been a ride or die since Book 1, Alfonzo, then prepare for the ultimate mindf*ck.
The Giacanti clan grows by the book, and all the weeds are plucked to make room for new life. Those who needed to be dealt with, get theirs, and those who need to be dealt with will get theirs.
Looking forward to the next installment because that ending... Whew...
I couldn't be more happy with this installment. Mrs Frank has set up so many amazing storylines for Alfonzo and fancy. She even mended my heart from a loss that I never understood. I know my review is like a riddle but I can't give spoilers. The series is wonderful and I share Aldonza's final thoughts about the family circumstances. Bravo
I didn't see this coming, although I should because there were hints. Yosef, I'm still trying to understand how that happened. Man, Giuseppe must be just reeling. These people have more money and time to plot out this crap. Loved the action, intrigue and surprised in this book. Wow!
I really enjoy reading this series. A lot of surprises in this book. You won't be disappointed, however there were a few extra words in some sentences. Still a great book.
I knew from the previous book that the author was changing direction but I was totally surprised by these turn of events! Great storytelling. Onto to the next volume.
The truth is finally out and let the chips fall where they may will Geo get his family back what will happen to Kenya and Shanda fake husband will Alfonzo and Selange ever get some peace
I've read this book twice and I honestly don't know how I feel. The writing is great as I expected but I am so emotional right now it is difficult to type the words for this review. Let's start with the basics. The book brought back all of our favorites Al, Selange, Geo, Lorenzo, Nico, Ari, Sergio, Yosef, the children and a few unlikely appearances that will leave you reeling. Now the whole Al and Selange tiff that was going on really in many ways caused me to become angry with both of them. I felt that Selange just wasn't seeing Al's point of view. In the position that he is in he has to make the hard decisions but he needs Selange to be by his side every step of the way. Mafia justice is what it is called and just because she was old that didn't mean that Anita got a pass I'm just saying LOL. Al on the other hand while justified in what he did could have shown more empathy and left the street stuff out of their home. He forgot that a disagreement doesn't mean that the love your family has for you automatically dissipates. I was glad to see Selange calling him out on the way that he was starting to refer to his family during the issues that invariably pop up between the ones that you love. The mourner at the funeral was actually hilarious and Al's inner thoughts were equally as amusing. I'm really going to need Maria to get it together. I think that she puts undue pressure on Al with her religious sanctimonious attitude. She closes her eyes to the things that she herself have done but places expectations on Al that only add to the burdens that he already has to carry. I loved seeing Selange stronger in this installment. The fact that she was wiling to go against everyone around her to follow her convictions showed us a glimpse of the woman that we have come to love and admire. S.W. Frank is one of my all-time favorite writers and I will support her FOREVER but there were some things about the story that bothered me. Geo's lack of growth rubs me the wrong way every time. He just doesn't get it. He will take 5 steps forward and then he always always slide back into his bratty vindictive spoiled ways. It is frustrating to see him continue on this path. The return of one of the characters was not what I expected and I am woman enough to admit that I rallied for this particular outcome. My issue however is the glimpse that we did receive shows this individual with the same selfishness that cast her in the role as villain from the very beginning. While I understand that the reintroduction of this character was in less than ideal surroundings I'm hoping that with the next installment we will get a glimpse of one who has at least grown and matured during the time frame that they've been gone. As much as i wanted to see Lucia get her comeuppance I felt a little cheated that Sergio never got the truth about who he was married to. I feel that he is going to suffer guilt over the thoughts that he was having about Al's secretary and this will hinder him from moving forward. Hopefully the presence of his daughter will be the soothing balm that he needs to heal and grow from the tragic events. There were instances in the book while reading that I think were rushed and this in my opinion sometimes changed the flow of the story but with all of that no one can tell a story quite like Ms. Frank. She gives us the streets, history, romance, family, and adventure all rolled into one. Who wouldn't love a series that gives a person just about everything they could ever hope to find in a story! If you haven't read Ms. Frank you are missing a treat like no other. I can't wait to see what's next because that ending had me about to go into convulsions!!
Just read assissins. I'm going to say this once more, I'm not in love with the pacing of the book. It starts off slow and then towards the end it's rushed.
So secrets between couples are finally being addressed.....well sort of. I find it crazy that these couples live in such a dangerous space but still managed to keep each other in the dark about the most important things. I.e. Selange taking the plane and then calling Al about it after lol
I've read the last 5 books. What I haven't seen is one main character talk about her former best friend. Everybody talked about Shanda except for Seleange. Everybody....then in this book bang....ok whatever.
Let's mention pacing one more time here. While I was excited for the return of this character. Nothing about the return jolted me into excitement to read the next book. There was the lack of emotion, empathy, growth....it lacked everything you could imagine of a return that I know for a fact people asked for. The pacing of Shanda's return was....ugh. The reason why I'm saying this is because it has been maybe 3 or 4 yrs since Shanda's death. The impact was great because there seemed to be a shift in her that was noticeable. There was a maturing that was taken away. Here we get someone that doesn't even seem like she was really bothered about being kidnapped or any of the abuses she might have endured. It's like she reverted back to being in high school. The being jealous of Kenya after immediately being rescued. It was skipping every emotion you would have after you gotten out of a 4 year ordeal. It was like the author heard all of the complaints about Shanda and she decided "oh eff it, I'm going to write her the same way y'all bugged me about bringing her back. Complain, complain, complain" lol
The way it was written, I didn't believe it. It seems fake. Maybe that's apart of the plot. I hope it's not. I agree with Allie about her daughter's name tho "what?" Lol
I didn't understand the going public thing either. How does that stop living a mafia life? And why did they not include the entire family on it and how exactly is Selange apart of the bloodline again without being married to Al? Too many questions. I have to read reviews on the next book before I dive in.
There are just not enough words to describe how happy I am about the turn of events.I have so looked forward to something like this happening, now to say that I like how its playing out right now no.I also love the fact that everyone's relationships have matured to something so much more sexier and just plan good. Now as far as thinking you going to live your life as ordinary people get real, its the life you were born to and the one you chose.I so look forward to the next nail bitting moments, pleases don't take to long.
What can I write...I do not want to give away any spoilers...I will hold this in until #23 comes out...S.W. does not deviate from her thought process from book 1...the suspense is heart stopping...assassins lurking around every corner..people that are supposed to be dead are not...Alfonzo is unrepentant as ever..he has to be..for the survival of all whom he holds dear...he provides protection 24/7...nothing could go wrong....and then the bottom drops....
OMG... i don't know where to begin this book is far one of the best in this series a lot of questions was answered and I'm so happy about that. Alfonzo and his family is like an extension of mine's I love the relationship that he has with his family. The love that Geo had for Shanda would never let him move on and now he knows why. Without giving out to much for the next reader I will stop here. .
I am loving this series and waiting for the next Installment this family has had its share of drama loss and romance i feel like the fly on the wall watching as it unfolds such a fantastic read .
Alonzo does it again! I always look forwarded to the next book. I can say I'm happy Shanda and wanna see but happens next in her and Geo"s relationship.
