I have such a love/hate relationship to this part of the series.

I didn't connect with this one.

I admit this is the first time I've come across consensual infidelity. But my discomfort was not due to the nature of the topic. But rather the lack of depth to Stiles and Derek's relationship. I didn't really feel as if they really loved each other, I was only told. I didn't understand how the anxiety and longing of the pack bonds would affect Stiles, enough to push him for physical relief. Also, I thought it rather insensitive of Stiles to keep pushing the subject when Derek had already agreed. It was right for Stiles to feel guilty for cheating, not force Derek into constantly reassuring him it was fine to seek out other people. This was more to ease Stiles' conscience than Derek's.

On top of that, their personality felt different than all the other Stereks I've read. Stiles was whinny and needy and Derek was calm, collected, and supportive.

And then, after all the cheating is done and the pair is still strong together, the story makes a completely different turn. We are introduced to Cassie, some student Stiles met at college and who was assaulted by 5 guys. Which makes it ok for Erica, Isaac and Boyd to take justice into their own hands and remind the readers that there should be some supernatural beings in the story.

I was completely out of sync with this installment.

So... consensual infidelity here... I can't quite buy the reason behind it... and Stiles is FAR away at college for FOUR years.. that's the plan. The the farness is behind the infidelity... since being bonded to an alpha ends up making Stiles touch sick...

This... well it was handled in a good way but the fact of it to begin with is just... nope..
