No feelings. No lies of calling the next day, and no empty promises of not banging anyone’s mother. If I could act like I’ve never met a set of twins I screwed on the same night, thinking they were the same person, then I could do this. It was the perfect set up for a fake relationship and it was simple. We faked our smiles, we faked our laughs; hell, we even faked our love. It wasn’t real. But that kiss was anything but fake, and the orgasm was anything but pretend.
Somehow my plus one had become more, and now I’m standing here with my underwear around my ankles wondering what in the hell to do next.
He needed a plus one to get his Mama off his back and stop the wife hunting.
She needed a boyfriend to show her family that she wasn't a total failure and she was ready to move on after being dumped at the altar.
What harm could be done if they fake it for a while?
After all, he saw her at her lowest moments, helped her run from the chruch when her ex to be husband jilted her.
They could make things work but first, they had to set some ground rules to protect themselves from any confusing feelings.
But....
Aren't rules made to break?!
Max and Rae were two amazing and funny characters. Faking a temporary relationship should have been easy for both, because neither was ready to commit. But as much as they hated to admit, they got into each other's skins without even realizing it.
Him...
“I want her, and I shouldn’t.?”

“None of this is real. The flirting, the touching, the kiss. My fingers slide along my neck where Max kissed me. It’s all fake and a show. I want to believe it, but my body is defying every thought.”
If you enjoy sexy wars where both characters fight to have the upper hand then this is definitely you book.
“I can hear the attitude in her voice just by her text. I want to dominate her ass in the bedroom. Set her straight on who is boss in all of this.”
This story sucked me in from the beginning. Rae meets Max on what's supposed to be her wedding day, after everything has started to go wrong. He's a complete stranger who's there for her when she needs someone the most, and I loved him for that. A year later and Rae is still single, and under pressure from her mother to settle down. When she bumps into Max again unexpectedly, after he's just had a similar lecture from his mother about settling down, it seems like a great idea to be a fake couple.
Max has issues of his own when it comes to relationships and he's determined that his and Raes 'relationship' has an expiry date. As that date moves closer, his feelings cause him to want what he can't have. He's a great character. Hot, sexy, unobtainable, and he wears a baseball cap *swoon* and sweatpants *faints* I wanted to be Rae so badly reading this book. Not just because of Max's hotness but she's a really funny, sassy women that's really likeable.
I loved this book. The story had me reading as fast as I could, the characters are fantastic, the chemistry, banter and the push/pull between them is great and it's a really enjoyable, funny, hot read.
Rae is having a bad day, which sucks since it's her wedding day. While going through the vows, her groom makes a mad dash for the exit, leaving Rae at the altar and not knowing what has happened. She hides in the bride's room, and when her mother won't stop knocking she make a break for the window, not knowing that her life is just crazier on the other side. Max is out in the fire escape smoking when the bride comes through the window, and he offers to get her out of there and away from her mother. This isn't the only time they run into each other, literally. The next time they meet the run into each other and figure out that they can use each other and go to the other person's wedding as their plus one. What happens at each wedding? What happens when her ex shows back up? Find out this and more in this awesome read!!!
What a fun story!!! I just kept cracking up at these two. Max and Rae had a hilarious first meeting. Both with meddling families they cook up a plan to pacify their moms. A fake relationship!! Oh lord then the fun starts. I just loved Rae she was a mess! We bonded over our love of a boy in a backwards ball. I laughed and smiled my way through this book as they fought and lost the battle of following their own rules. Then Oh No!! a "twist", a secret revealed and I was worried for my girl. Not what I am used to from this author and I really enjoyed this side of her. For the record I can't wait to see more of this comedy side.
I have ready all of M.N. Forgy books and was so happy that she stepped out of her comfort zone and done this book. It has those laugh out loud moments, has the Oh Sh!# moments, and did that just really happen moments. I love how she kept her characters realistic and not added a bunch of fakeness to it.
Rae meets Max after she gets dumped at the alter, not having a clue what just happened. She learns that Max is friends with her ex. She agrees to go with Max so she doesn't have to deal with her mother or ex mother-in-law. When Max's mom and Rae mom is on both of them to settle down, they come up with a plan to use one another. Their was rules: no falling in love, no mouth kissing, and no sex! But what happens when rules get broken and Max's kiss is beyond out of this world? Can Rae and Max show their true feelings or will Rae get heartbroken all over again?
I can't wait to see what Missy writes for us Next!!!
A laugh out loud romcom. Max is cocky, yet sweet, and sexy as all get out. Rae is quirky and will have you giggling throughout the whole book. A great quick read.
“I’ve never done anything so provocative before, but the way Max is staring at me fuels my risque behavior.”
Heat Rating:
5 Plus One Stars!!! Quirky, sexy fun… I enjoyed every page!!
From the start of this book I was hooked! Rae and Max’s relationship starts out unconventionally but it just progresses and gets intense. I love the storyline it’s unique and not one I’ve read a million times! I’ve been a fan of M.N. Forgy so when I saw this was also by her I knew I’d love it! And I was correct! Definitely worth the read!

I did receive a free ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review.
I have read other books by M.N. Forgy - writing under Missy Blake for this book. Her other books are very different, involving the MC world.
Plus One is a cute love story, of a girl who was heartbroken on the day of her wedding. If you are gonna leave someone, don't do it on the day of the wedding! Gosh, all that money.....
The young lady in the story, Rae, has been working at her fiancée's dad's law firm. After they break up she become as Vet Tech, as this is where her passion is. She loves being around animal's and helping them.
Rae runs into Max. He's the one who helped her run away from the wedding after the fiancée left her at the alter. They never ran into each other through their small town during this year she's been broken up. They run right into each other one day, literally.
Rae & Max request to date each other as a fake relationship, so, their medaling mother's will leave them alone. Both mother's have been setting them up on blind dates, to horrible people of course.
Rae & Max set some ground rules for their relationship. Rae doesn't want her heart broken again, and we also find out that Max has had his heart broken as well. Both are trying to keep their distance from each other, but, they realize they can't.
A cute love story, having your heart broken, doesn't mean it may never heal. It means someone else may come in and heal it instead.
What a fun story!!!! This is a great action packed romance that starts out for show but ends up with all the feels and the troubles that go with them. The one liners and flirty banter kept me entertained to no end. With the flow of the story all of the emotions were in the right places to hold you captive for hours.
Rae. Little Miss Rae cracked me up! Her inner monologue so much reminded me of myself in some ways. I laughed with her. Cried with her and wanted to give her a big ole feel good hug. If there was a chick that needed one.... she does. After an epic fail of a wedding she sets out to just do her. No commitments. No bullshit. Just her getting herself back together. Turns out meeting the super sexy Max was just what she needed. Maybe just not WHEN she needed.
Max. Sweet jeebus! This man! He's so much fun to read. He's sexy, smart, funny, and also very passionate about no commitment. When he finds himself in a pickle there's only one woman who can help him out. Only she's just as fond of commitment as he is.
These characters are super fun and light. Yes there are some very serous moments but the humor and constant sexual tension had me fanning and swooning. This was a great read and I couldn't get enough. I didn't feel like the story fell short or that I was left hanging. Everything came full circle the way it should! LOVED IT!!!!
I'm honestly not sure how I really feel about this book (I feel like I've had a lot of books like that lately). It had its moments that I loved and then there were moments where I actually rolled my eyes and shook my head.
The book had 5 star moments. I loved Max and the storyline developed at a nice pace. I didn't really feel like there were too many holes where I had to fill in the blank. The sexy times were HOT.
So what's the problem then??? For the first 60% of the book, there were parts where I really disliked Rae and thought she was immature, especially for being 25. I get it, she had her heart smashed in the worst possible way. But seriously, going out and getting hammered and doing some of the things she did just didn't set well with me, especially one year later. While on the one hand, I get that she was living life for herself and had adopted a new fu*k it attitude, I just couldn't handle her. I'm sorry.......I know it sounds petty.
A cute fun loving story that involves Rae who was dumped at the altar and Max who helped Rae escape from the chaos called a wedding. It was funny the rules they made to have a fake relationship. They used each other to show their families they have a "plus one". Little did they know that life happens and they found their rules were getting harder to follow.
I enjoyed this story. Found myself laughing at Rae and her BFF Quinn. I really did wish Max would have done more to Jacob!!
A great read, a real giggle of a story. Max and Rae meet at a wedding, and it's different and hilarious. They discover both their mothers are driving them crazy to settle down, so they plot the only thing they can do - A fake relationship! - And then the fun and bantering really begins. Max and Rae were made for each other, but it took them a very long time to realize, plenty of squabbling, bantering and bedroom benefits. A great story. I hope to see more from fun reads from T.M. Frazier.

This story is amazing from the very beginning. When Rae is climbing out of the window on her wedding day after being stood up, Max is on the firescape having a smoke, and end up helping her to make her getaway. This is hilarious! After bumping into each other at a later stage, they come up with a scheme to fake a relationship between them in order to pacify their families. They have both been heartbroken in the past, and are determined to keep their distance from each other. But can they?? You really need to read this amazing book for yourself! This is a cute romance story, and shows that when the right person comes along, anything can be overcome together! I love all of MN Forgy’s book, but I must admit, I adore the comedy aspect in this book, and look forward to reading more from Missy Blake! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book for the author!
Plus one by Missy Blake was a fun read for me. It starts with a horribly embarrassing break up, an awkward encounter, and two people ready to quit love. Time goes by, those two people run into each other again and BOOM fake romance to save face. Yeah baby!
Over all, Max and Rae gave me warm fuzzies, a couple racing pulse moments *wink wink* and some jaw dropping events. The author did a good job with the hints of the coming drama, but I never figured it out.
I’m not sure why this book didn’t hit me harder. I think the build up of the relationship was a little fast and not quite hearty enough for me. I enjoyed it, but I didn’t get lost in it. I would absolutely read more from the author and would suggest Plus One to anyone who is looking for a lighthearted, quick romance.
I did receive an ARC of this in exchange for a honest review.
Missy Blake is M.N. Forgy, author of the Devil's Dust MC and Sin City Outlaws series. She is taking her shot at the contemporary romance genre and I couldn't be happier. As gritty and suspenseful as her writing is as M.N. Forgy, her contemporary romance writing is sweet and sexy. This just shows her amazing ability as a writer.
Max and Rae are totally perfect together, as they pretend to be in a relationship to get their respective parents off their backs for being single and unmarried. There were laugh at loud moments that made this such a fun book to read.
I’ve always been a fan of M.N. Forgy’s bikers. I was SUPER excited for her to try her hand at romantic comedy! The premise for this book is one I always enjoy reading, because the events so often make me laugh out loud when they happen!
The two characters meeting really set the tone for the whole story. I’m definitely not telling you that part, but let’s just say it accurately introduces the characters....
Totally LOVED it! Just the perfect mix of humour, romance and sizzling sex! Max is cocky as hell & I loved how Rae put him in his place! My kind of chick! These characters were so well written that I felt myself falling in love as they did:)) Thank you Missy Blake for the refreshing & swoonworthy read that had me wanting more after the very last page! Fantastic for your first Contemporary Romance lady!
I loved Rae and Max...what fun characters..Poor Rae is left at the alter and Max saves her from the worst day....Together they ask each other for a fake romance to gets their mothers off their backs...They had rules..signed rules that would not be broken.....Things hit rock bottom at Max's sister wedding....Rules broken, hearts broken....Can Rae find love??? You'll laugh, You'll sigh..You'll cheer... A great new contemporary novel...Don't miss the FUN!!
Wowza! M. N. Forgy hit a home run with this devilishly dirty beauty! I absolutely loved this read! I couldn't read this story fast enough to find out what was going to happen next. Funny, sexy and thoroughly enjoyable, this read had my complete attention from page 1! Max is perfectly imperfect as he meets Rae under the most unlikely circumstances. Loved these characters and what happens between these 2 is worth reading about!
Stepping out of one's comfort zone is not easy but Missy Blake did it and did a fabulous job. Plus One is an excellent book. So well written with heartache, drama, hot sex and lots of humor. I especially liked "the rules" because we all know rules are made to be broken. This story will keep you interested from beginning to end. I would most definitely be interested in reading Quinn's story.
