Sky High Scaffolders #2

Our Secret Christmas

Rate this book
A feel-good, heartwarming, sexy story unlike any other story that you've read with Christmas in the title.
Christmas is a really big deal in Britain. The parties and preparations begin in November, at the latest.
In the construction industry, Christmas means two weeks off work for Connor and Lee.
Yes, two weeks.
They've only been dating since September.
In secret.
They just want to spend the holiday time together, like any other gay guys in love.
Alone and mostly naked.
And we all know the true meaning of Christmas is explaining and justifying to friends and family how you are spending the holiday and who with.

This is another Sky High Scaffolds' story, written mostly in British but with American spelling.
An M/M story of 44,000 words. A long novella, not quite long enough to be a novel when size matters.

Our Secret Christmas is a companion to Our Secret Wedding.

*** A marvelous continuance of this love story ! ***
Yes, my friends, this is a low angst story about the very English Connor and Lee. This book #2 adds more to the first story, "My Secret Wedding". Here we have some sections that fill in any questions you may have had. So, YES, we DO NEED TO READ the FIRST book ! (in order)
I love these characters, so great, vivid, emotional and loving,

with normal fears and needs.

We get more internal dialogue to help us completely understand these special men. We see more of their bonding, their flow of uniting friends and different lives, where they meld to become both of these guys lives.

I was happy to learn more from these sexy guys, and the way they relate to each other. Connor and Lee are fabulous together. You will smile - a lot !
Highly recommend. ENJOY !

This book is takes place within the time frame of the first book in the series ( Our Secret Wedding by H.J. Perry ) and it is about the same main characters. The chapters in this book could have been dispersed within the other book. It's almost as if the author wrote two separate books about the same people and events. Outside of how weird that seems to me, it was a nice story.

ARC given by Author for a review

We met Connor and Lee in Our Secret Wedding. This Story is a companion Novel that happens in between when they got together in September Until December. So it might not make sense as a stand-alone. But it can be read as one if your looking for light story with lots of sexy scenes. :D
Though you should try their first story too. As it will give you more idea about Connor and Lee and how their relationship started which isn't included in this one.

As Connor and Lee navigates their new relationship to a macho world of Construction workers, they have to remain the facade of being straight amongst colleagues but it will not stop them in sneaking time with each other, have a good time with friends and watch strippers, and plan a Christmas getaway.

It's a nice update to the Our Secret Wedding characters and their friends as well.

Festive update with the scaffolding boys

2.5*
This is better paced than the first book and has a disclaimer about American spellings which I have to say, I don't understand when it's a book set in the UK, but there you go.

There's some humorous bits in this and the usual amount of steam but it all still feels a little one dimensional when it comes to the emotions.

A nice follow up to Our Secret Wedding which I just read. As equally sweet a story with the two main men so I love, it covers a few of the gaps left in the previous book. Lee and Connor fill in the few pages from the previous story sweetly, with so much love and tenderness as it is with this couple. A really lovely read. One thing I will say, and loudly, in chapter 10, first page, it is stated “English weather didn't lend itself to outdoor living.” Bull crap! This lost one star for me. I am British although ,living abroad for many years, we have lovely weather in summer, spring and early fall, that is sooo wrong.

Christmas lost

This is the 2nd book in the SHS series. I really loved the the 1st book, Our Secret Marriage, which was the courtship of Connor and Lee. The timeline of the second book takes place during the course of the first book. However, the events of Lee and Connor's plans are discussed, but the reader is not given the sequence of the actual events over the Christmas holiday. And I was truly disappointed that was not Included in the story. Perhaps the events of a retrospective read in another book. I was actually looking forward to reading how the guys enjoyed the trip Connor had planned for their Christmas holiday.

An enjoyable read

For me part of the joy of the read is anticipating where the story is going to go. Having already read Our Secret Wedding, I already knew exactly where this was going. It was still a very enjoyable read and did fill in some important things left out of the first book. I do feel however it would have been more sense to have incorporated the two shorter stories into one. It is still worth the read, even if it does take place slap bang in the middle of the first book.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in the SHS series and I think you need to read them in order. This does have many parallels to the first book as well as adding more insight into the characters. Lee and Connor are delightful as always and I really enjoyed this book. It was beautifully written and had a lot of steamy sex as well. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I loved getting Conner and Lee's Christmas story. I can't get enough of these guys. Conner is the most romantic guy. Reading their stories and then listening to the audible version is the best. Tod Scott did a great job bringing H. J. Perry's stories even more to life and feed my imagination even more. I can't wait to not only read but also listen to more books from this author. Nothing is better than listening to a sexy voice read to you a book that you've already read.

Read "Our Secret Wedding" First

Much more enjoyable if you have read the first book in the series before reading this one.

Connor is so adorable. He loves Lee with his entire being. He is naive about man on man sex. He is not dumb, just new to everything he shares with Lee.

There is no high drama in this story. It is simply a story of love. It was just the hit sweet story i needed. Connor wait for next installment.

Construction romance

An entertaining read set in southern England between two scaffolders, the story unfolds from the beginning of the romance through the autumn into the year-end holidays. Hiding the developing relationship at work but out to sympathetic friends, the author weaves a believable tale.

First in a series set amongst the scaffolders, it ends abruptly with a cliffhanger.

Repetitious

The guys from book 1 of the SHS series are back! We left them shortly after their Valentine's day wedding. Now we are time travelling back to a month or so before
their 1st Christmas??? Why? This should have been part of book 1. We do learn more about other characters; that's the only upside.

The story was cute I just loved these guys. I listened to the audio book and the narrator made this an adorable story. The story alone was not the best, if I was reading it myself I probably wouldn't have finished it, Tod Scott made me love it. I read (listened to) the double book, my Secret Wedding and Secret Christmas. Secret Wedding really could have be chapters of the first book.

Our Secret Christmas is a continuing look onto the lives of Conner and Lee, from Our Secret Wedding. It tells more of their story and shows how they tried to deal with their secret romance. I enjoyed this book just as much as I enjoyed the first one and can't wait to read more of this series.

I really liked this story. It can be read as a stand-alone. It gives a glimpse at the next characters to come out in the rest of the series.

3 stars is pushing it...but I liked it ok. 2nd book in the series that really reads like a serial work. The ending wasn't a cliffhanger but rather abrupt

Although I enjoyed Our Secret Christmas the chapters from this could have been put into the first book Our Secret Wedding, which I loved.

I'm enjoying these males hiding their romance since they work in a predominantly hetero industry. They fall hard and want to move further along in their romance

It was a real treat to read more about Connor and Lee!

I loved Our Secret Wedding, the book that introduced Connor and Lee, and Our Secret Christmas is a great companion story. I think you really need to read Our Secret Wedding to fully enjoy this story. Our Secret Christmas follows the same time-line and seems to contain scenes that weren’t included in the original story, perhaps due to length and publishing restrictions.

I loved reading more about these two guys. Connor is so afraid he’s going to do something to “out” Lee at work but he has trouble controlling himself when he’s around him. This book is a great sort of “behind the scenes” for what happened in Our Secret Wedding and I was so happy to learn more details about the relationship between these two men.

I borrowed this book through Kindle Unlimited.

Our Secret Christmas is another fantastic book by this author. This book can be read alone but I am so glad I read our secret wedding first because I feel you know where the characters are coming from. H J Perry writes a romance so well. The emotions of each character are captivating and hook you until the very end. Connor and Lee are wonderful characters. I can't wait for the next book in this series. This is shaping up to be a great series.

It was OK. I find the writing style sometimes to be a bit boring and I think that is what throws me off and messes with my flow.
I read this one because I read the first one, Connor and Lee went from friends to lovers and now they are an established couple. There's nothing wrong here, it's low angst, exploratory sex scenes, and just two blokes trying to make it. For me it's a style issue same story written in a different style and I probably would enjoy it more.
