Who wants to be immortal in a land where death feels like the only true escape?

Étienne Arceneaux. Ancestor of Lézare. Released from the bonds of slavery by death. Only this was not the death any man would have wanted. The only remedy to avoiding that death was the last one he would have wanted.
Except Étienne wasn’t given a choice. The high witch of Black Glade Coven, Latrice Mathieu knew that he would play an important role in the future of the New Orleans supernatural society.
She never knew how much.

See a side of Leandra Mathieu’s grandmother Latrice you couldn’t have imagined. She travels north after the Civil War to take her white tiger shifter daughter Lucia to the man who fathered her. Only to lose her.

Follow Étienne on his path to freedom, and then take Étienne’s sojourn back to Arceneaux plantation, the place he’d never thought he’d return to, where he meets Celine Arceneaux, a redheaded fiery beauty that claims his heart as fiercely as he claims her body.

Life is not quite so simple for the returned Étienne Arceneaux in the Arceneaux Plantation, a place that put the scars on his soul which are almost as visible as the scars on his body.

Inescapable scars.
Inescapable lives.
Inescapable futures.
Étienne .

What a wonderful story! Takes us to the birth of a Pride.

Etienne Arceneaux born from the love between a female slave and the son of the Plantation owner. Saved from death by a witch with the blood of a white tiger shifter, escapes in the night to the North and makes his way in the world.. After 8 decades he returns to the land that bore him scars, Arceneaux Plantation. Here he meets the woman that is meant to be his soul mate Celine Arceneaux, but will she accept that he is a white tiger shifter, will he confess his secrets to her, tell her the story of his scars?

Will she understand that the man who raised her as his daughter is his real father? Will she understand the other secrets he carries, secrets that he has with the witch who saved his life, all those decades ago.

Deep and emotional, stirs the truths of a past that no one can ignore. The author did a fantastic job of intermingling a part of history with fantasy. Very well done Ms Thorne! I am looking forward to reading more about the Arceneaux family.

This entire series, each story was enjoyable, however they all had quick abrupt endings which made the story feel a little incomplete.

Inescapable covered a vast period of time, without providing dates for context. When the story jumped 70+ years it pulled me from the story because I had to reorient my mind so "modern" day and not the 1800s with no real sense of when "modern" day was other than it was 70+ years later.

The story also left questions: who was the shifter that helped the witch? Who are the shifters in France? How did Etienne establish a connection with them?

Still, a good quick read overall.

I read this book in the Taming the Vampire box set.
I really enjoy all these interlinked books in Ms Thorne’s SHIFTERS FOREVER WORLD but I was not that excited about going back to the beginning of the Arceneaux history with Etienne. Too sad.

Taming the Vampire Anthology

Etienne is a slave turned shifter thanks to the attention of the local witch. That's really it, they have a daughter, he finds his soulmate one day...not a bad read, just blah.

Great story! Sometimes your past won't leave you alone. But, sometimes it can make the future so much better than it would have been. This is what happens here. Read on to see for yourself.

This is a bittersweet foundation story, all the rest come after this one. It explains how Étienne became a white tiger and how he found his mate and obtained the Arceneaux. estate.

Wow...Elle, you have done a fantastic job writing Etienne Arceneaux story. Etienne has been so prevalent throughout the Shifter's Forever series that it feels like everyone knows him so well. You have been able to fill in the missing pieces and stay true to the series. Some may think that's an easy thing to do since he is your character but many authors don't get it right. Not everyone's able to write the back story of a prominent character that will fulfill loyal readers imagining of the character. Bravo Mrs. Thorne! Etienne and Celine's story is wonderful and thoughtful. I truly hope their are more stories about their lives and the lives of their children. I received and ARC from the author. I have chosen to write a review and this is my honest review.

Read as part of the anthology: "Taming the Vampire." I was kind of undecided on how to rate this book. On one hand, I enjoyed the interactions of the characters, but on the other hand I just felt like their interactions were a little vague. I definitely think you have to read the other books in this series before reading this one. Otherwise, you'll be like me and a little lost in the dynamics of the relationships. As I said before, I'm on the fence on how to rate this book, as well as whether I'll check out other titles by this author.

Excellent read

She's done it again. Once I started reading I didn't want to put it down. She shows the cruelty of man and how to overcome. Very strong characters.

Wow! Inescapable is another fantastic, unique story that blew me away! A deliciously addicting and different PNR for shifters & vamps and even voodoo! I was glued to my seat from the start & finished it all in one setting! This author knows how to deliver great attention to detail with twists & turns that will keep readers engaged & turning pages! Always great descriptions, relatable characters and witty dialogue, with suspense and romance and those smoking hot moments that will melt your kindle! Even tho I read this story as part of a boxed set anthology I'd purchased on Amazon, these are my honest feelings on this book without any outside influence. Ms. Thorne’s books are always a must read!
