Cam Dimarco is undercover trying to bring down a villain, due to a promise he made to a man who was like his brother, and during his investigation, he comes across Sydney Harris, someone both eh and his boss think could be key to finally cracking the case and bringing down a monster.

When it comes to his awesome family, Cam has been MIA for 2 years, his family (excluding Luke) had no idea where he was and if he was ok, so when they are reunited whilst everyone is more than happy that he is alive, some of his brothers are more than a little pissed that he never contacted them to say he was ok. I didn’t entirely get why he had to have absolutely nothing to do with his family, and wished the author had made it clear why that was a decision he made/had to make.

A tiny bit of skin reading did occur when Cam was talking to his boss, I was a tad annoyed with Cam at that point due to how he seemed to be using Sydney, and the necessary guilt and unease I wanted him to feel just didn’t manifest for me. I could understand why Sydney would be wary of relationships, given what she experienced at the hands of Danny (physically and emotionally), but I wish she had more fire, and wasn’t as meek as she was.

The sibling bond between Liam and Sydney I enjoyed, Liam’s affection and loyalty to his sister and vice versa was potently clear.

This one ends on a slight cliff-hanger that links to the book that proceeds it and its hero and heroine (Book 3 – Gianna), but honestly despite such connections between some of the books I was perfectly reading them out of order. If you do read the books in order, the cliff-hanger is a good one and it will ensure you move on to the next book in the series.

A nice one time read, but not my fav in the series.

I recently got the latest book on my kindle and so decided to go back and read the rest of the series. I remember reading Book #1 Lucy and enjoyed it and the book #1 ended on a cliffhanger with Cameron being alive. Book #2 is Cameron's story. We now learn that Cameron is an undercover FBI agent and for the past two years has been living undercover as Matt. Matt has been hired to bring down Danny Sullivan and his enterprise. He has been tasked to get information from Danny's ex-girlfriend Sydney. Sydney has been trying to get her life back on track after her ex almost killed her. Matt and Sydney start seeing each other and things are going well until Matt aka Cam is called in by his boss and told that they have to speed the investigation up which means that Matt aka Cam has to open Sydney up to his real identity as Cameron DiMarco. I have to admit I did find this book frustrating as Cameron was acting like a martyr but his Italian family would have been fine rather than thinking he was dead for the past two years. My favorite part though of Sydney was when Cameron reunites with his family as I loved the dynamics of the DiMarco family and it was good to be reunited with Lucy and Christian from Book #1 and I loved how easily the DiMarco family welcomed Sydney into their arms. What will happen though when Sydney learns that her brother Liam works with Danny? Will this put a strain on her upcoming relationship with Cam as Liam is her only family after their parents were killed. I liked the ending of Sydney with the start of Book #3 Gianna, though my heart did drop a few beats and I have to admit this was one book where I had to read a spoiler as I love the DiMarco family so much and didn't want one of the brothers to be a cheater. If you love Piper Rayne's The Baileys series, then you will love Jennifer Hanks series The DiMarco Brothers.

Again with the mixed feelings. While I did like Sydney more than I did Lucy, I did have conflicting thoughts.

Sydney and Cameron are two volatile and consuming characters.

I like the way Jennfier Hanks plays her readers hearts with twist and turns, and leaves us guessing where she’s going to take us next.

Sydney by Jennifer Hanks is book Two in The Dimarco Series. This is the story of Sydney Harris and Cameron Dimarco. I have read the previous book, but feel you can make this a standalone book if you choose to do so.
Sydney is working to start over after a very bad abusive breakup. The man that Sydney broke from is a bad mafia type guy who is we later learn is using her brother. Cam is from a very close knit family and being undercover to bring down the bad guy is keeping him and his family apart. His family isn't even sure he is alive but he has to do this undercover work to settle a past issue to make things right. Cam meets Sydney when he goes undercover to try to learn if she knows what is going on with her ex boyfriend and brother. What he isn't expecting is to find that his heart is slowly being given to Sydney.
Enjoyed their story!

This is the second book in the Dimarco family series. The epilogue of 'Lucy' gave us the intro to this book about Cameron (Christian's missing twin) who has been on a FBI case for almost 2 years, all the while leaving his family in the dark he is alive. Sydney is a young woman connected to the case he is investigating.

Family and people-like-family are the main factors in this series. We don't get to see the Dimarco family much in this book but enough to feel their closeness. I do (still) think there are too many characters you have to keep up with and the brother's are so much alike. The story is thus more story-driven than character-driven for me.

In fact, the stories are not really very original but have a certain warmth due to the family-factor. You keep on reading, even when you sometimes roll your eyes. So.. good stories. They are easy to read and again we got an epilogue leading us into the next story about Gianna and.... (one of the brothers).

I cannot get enough of the Dimarco Family! This is Sydney Harris and Cameron Dimarco story. A forbidden love story with enough thrilling suspense and steamy chemistry that will have you on the edge of your seat until the very last page.

I’m working my way through the DiMarco Series by Jennifer Hanks.
SydneySydney is the second book in the DiMarco series and features the DiMarco brother Cameron, twin of Christian from Lucy’s book. Cameron is working a long-term undercover assignment with the FBI trying to take down a local drug kingpin. Sydney is the ex-girlfriend of the target and Cameron is to get close to her to find out what she knows.

Sydney owns a coffee shop with her best friend Maddie. Her parents were killed in a car accident and her only family is her brother Liam. Liam and Maddie had helped her escape her abusive ex-boyfriend and move away to get out of his reach. She hasn’t dated since Danny, but when Matt (Cameron) walks into her coffee shop and asks her out, she can’t deny their connection.

The DiMarco family members have a lot of drama! Cameron hasn’t seen his siblings in two years. They don’t know if he’s dead or alive, until he hears of Jake’s baby being born and lurks outside the hospital to get a bit of news. Luke, because his case as a detective intersects with the FBI investigation, knows what Cameron is doing but must keep the secret as well to protect their large family.

Cam and Sydney have an intense relationship. So far all of their women are strong, fiery women who don’t back down from an argument and the DiMarco brothers all have strong personalities, too. Syd’s reaction to learning Cameron’s true identity is explosive. She doesn’t forgive easily. Especially since the FBI think her beloved brother is involved in Danny’s organization. The investigation comes to a head, and the ending made my jaw drop.

What I liked: Lots going on. There weren’t any slow, draggy parts. Syd and Cam are both good characters. And it’s always good to see more of the DiMarco clan, especially the patriarch.

What I didn’t like: Sydney’s game playing was Not. Cool. She was acting like a high schooler with her “he did this so I will too” justification except her “this” involved an FBI investigation and people’s lives. I get that she wanted to help her brother, but her methods were wrong.

Overall: Good book! And the ending of the epilogue had me starting the next book immediately. Whoa!

I really enjoyed this book, but it had some real holes which is why I can’t go higher than 3 stars. Sydney has escaped a very toxic relationship and is cautious and reserved when it comes to meeting new people - especially men. “Matt” walks into the coffee shop she co-owns with her best friend and its an instant attraction that has her moving past those reservations to accept a date with him. “Matt” is actually Cam - he is in deep undercover to bring down a drug dealer that’s an incredibly personal mission to him because of a promise he made to someone he served with who was killed in action.

Each one of the DiMarco brother books hits on different tropes that I really enjoy and I love the characters and world Jennifer Hanks has created here. The biggest issue I had was the reason Cam gives for never letting anyone in his family but Luke know that he was alive makes no sense to me. He claims it’s because they wouldn’t leave him alone, but he could have let them know he was alive and on assignment and just not told them where. This part of the story really didn’t work for me at all. It would be one thing if Cam himself needed to be MIA or declared dead because of something in the storyline, but that wasn’t the case at all and at some point he admits he was just selfish and having trouble dealing with his own issues, but it still didn’t fit and didn’t jive with the characters and who they were and so it really bugged me. Plus there were some odd character things and plot holes. In the beginning the guy in charge of the case comes off as a real jerk and is adamant they need to get close to Sydney under cover to learn information but then barely any time passes and he decides she actually needs to be brought in to be questioned. I just felt like it wasn’t explained enough and felt really thin for reasoning and very unrealistic.

I still recommend reading this. I loved the angst as both Sydney and Cam have to work through trust issues.

I read these stories out of order, so although it is a series, and it’s better in order so you understand all the brothers and their inter-family dynamics- you can actually read them completely out of order.

After reading Lucy and being left with the kind of ending that we were, I just had to continue on to find out what was going on with Cam that would make him hide from his family for 2 years.
In Lucy (the Dimarco book 1) we learned that Cameron and Christian are the twin brothers and were always together, until the military separated them due to their specialties. The family hadn't heard from Cam in 2 years and being a military type family, they all were worried about the worst possible scenario.
What they didn't know was Cameron was really on a 5 minute drive from them working undercover. Cam had his reasons for working undercover and not involving his family. But things with his case are at a standstill and they need the help of Sydney Harris, the ex-girlfriend of their target to help. But lines are soon blurred and feelings arouse between Sydney and Cam that have him reconsidering using her.
Sydney has been used, degraded, and abused enough in her life by her ex. What she thought was a turning point in her life and relationship, she soon learns was just another man using her. But now that she is in on the investigation, she'll do whatever she has to and use whoever she has to, including Cam, to save her brother and get him out from under her ex's thumb.
For both Cam and Sydney, they both will have to learn to love, trust, and let go of the past to move forward to a future with each other.

What I will say about this one that was disappointing, was there were a few things that were left out in the open that the author really could've touched on. For instance how was it Cam was able to transition from military to FBI and why was it that only Luke could know he was alive while the rest of the family thought he was dead? I mean lets be honest, there can be and always will be tensions between local authorities and FBI agents, so it's not like the two were working together on the case.

I love the Dimarco family! The value of family, loyalty, and protecting those they love comes through in spades with this family. The suspense keeps me on edge turning page after page, anxious to see what will happen and how everything will work out. The romance keeps me swooning and cheering for the HEA I know is coming, but must be fought for.

Cam’s story is a little bit different as he is separated from the rest of the Dimarcos for part of the book. Silly as it may sound, I missed them. However, so did he. I could feel the gaping hole in his heart and life with each and every page. That said, he was a man on a mission. His focus on justice was admirable, but at times I wanted to yell at him, because he was digging his hole with Sydney deeper and deeper. He was stubborn to say the least, but when he fell, he fell hard and it was so satisfying to watch. He, like the rest of the Dimarcos, was loving and so protective once his barriers crumbled.

Sydney was fantastic. She may have had baggage from her previous relationship, but she loved fiercely and would stop at nothing to protect those she loved. I love how hard she made Cam work for her. I also loved that she was so, so strong regardless of everything she had been through. Refusing to be a victim, she was determined to be the hero.

My heart often broke for both of these characters. They are both survivors, and it made me cheer them on even more. If two characters ever deserved a happy ending, it was these two for sure. Their chemistry was off the chart, and once they joined forces, they were unstoppable.

I love that the supporting characters in these books play a role just as key as the main characters themselves. Hanks has an amazing talent for showing just how important relationships are. She leaves me longing for more (and not just from the Dimarcos) at the end of each book. While each of these books could be read as a standalone, I love reading them in order and seeing the development across this group of family and friends throughout each book.

Holy what a turn! Sydney is an epic follow up to Lucy in the Dimarco series. Sydney takes what you think you know about this family and spins it around. This book is slap full of action, secrecy, deceit, and danger. This book has it's own atmosphere to it.

I loved the plot to this book. I was not sure how I was going to feel, but as the story progressed, I really fell in love with it. All the secrets being kept really amps up the high intensity of the book. I really liked Sydney. She was a bit naive, but I really enjoyed her strength. Cam is fierce. I was so glad to see him after reading all about his twin. The protectiveness in him is endearing.

When you think high intensity, you think heat. This book is no different. While the attraction is there from the beginning, the high intensity kicked the heat up a couple notches. Add in the deceit and you knew the line these two are dancing was going to be a thin one. I loved the heat.

The pace of this story was much faster than the first, but it needed to be. This story is also told from a dual point of view. We were able to see some of the other characters, but I liked how the author introduced new characters for us to get to know. I really enjoyed this book.

Sydney would have to be my favorite so far. I just really liked the intensity in this story. It made me feel like I was reading a good mystery, while also giving the the romance and heat I needed.

Plot: 5/5
Characters: 5/5
Heat: 5/5

Book 2 in The Dimarco series is Cam and Sydney's story.

When Sydney lays eyes on Matt in the coffee shop she owned with her best friend Maddie, she had no idea of the consequences agreeing to go on a date with him would bring down upon her.

Cameron Dimarco hasn't ben seen or heard from for two years. His family are devastated they don't know his whereabouts and can only think the worst of what has happened to him.

Recruited by the FBI for the last two years to bring down Danny Sullivan, Cam is undercover and has his eyes on Sydney, she was in a relationship with Sullivan and from what intel they have on her so far, her brother is also involved with Sullivan and Cam has to get close to Sydney to find out how involved they are in Sullivan's operations.

But as always, things are not what they seem and when Sydney finds out why Cam is really interested in her, her heart and trust are once again abused and falling for another liar is just another blow to her life that she doesn't know if she will ever get over.

Absolutely enjoyed this second book.

Three stars because I wanted more of the family!!!!!!! The DiMarco family clan is the best part of the series! Ben and the sister didn’t even make an appearance :(

Sydney... she really started to get on my nerves. I can understand she reluctance but she didn’t alway make the smartest decisions.

Cam... it was nice to finally meet him, LOL. What was missing here, was how/when he left his former occupation and how he got into the new. And how he justified not even contacting his family in all that time made no sense. Not visiting was one thing, but not even a phone call?????? It was like his story from book one had to change to fit his future storyline.

Similar to a Book one, this story is well written.

Ending was definitely a doozy. I am excited to keep reading!!! Who will be next as I’m sure all can’t be what it seems!!

In Hanks first book in the Dimarco Series, Lucy, the reader knows only that Cameron's twin Christian was a Marine but has been missing for a year. Cam is devasted at the loss of his brother. It's one of the major reasons he doesn't think he can love. How can he enjoy his life while his brother is gone, potentially in a bad situation? As the books nears completion, Cam catches sight of Christian outside the hospital where their new nephew has just been born. He's understandably incredibly angry and hurt when Christian roars off on his motorcycle without speaking to his twin.

Sydney is Christian's story. Sydney herself is a possible target of the investigation he's been working on and initially, he's sent in to get information from her. An unforgivable lie. Immediately, he realizes Sydney is special and he's never felt this attraction with another woman. Sydney is feeling the same but has her good reasons for keeping her distance. Can the undercover FBI agent and the former girlfriend of a ruthless criminal wade through all their issues to find a way to be together? Can Cam ever forgive Christian for his deception? Can Sydney trust anyone?

In Sydney, we again spend time with the Dimarco family, a wonderful, large group of loving people who have a way of making outsiders feel like they belong. Like Lucy, Sydney has its dark moment of sheer terror. There are plenty of sweet times too. Every character is well defined and either completely lovable or horrendous and hated. The book takes the reader through a gamut of emotions on the way to the perfect ending.

Well, I fell in love with Syd and Cam.
When you read this book you will feel the same way. I honestly feel this way. There is just something about these two characters that is so realistic for me. Maybe they remind me of someone I know. Maybe. I don’t know.

Cam is on an undercover mission with the FBI. To get closer to the people he is watching, he gets close to Sydney. Only, he didn’t intend for his feelings to be so strong. He simply can’t resist her. Too bad she no longer trusts him now since she feels he is just using her to complete the case.
Cam isn’t willing to accept that though.
Can these two have a happily ever after?
Of course!
This is a love story after all. :)

I highly recommend this one!

Book 2 in the series. I recommend reading them in order, but I suppose it could be read on its own.

This second book in the Dimarco series is a great addition, we learn more about each family member, and you meet one that wasn't present in Lucy. There's lots of Drama and action added to the large family chaos we've seen. There's some game playing on both the sides of Sydney and Cameron which at times can get a bit juvenile but that's real life sometimes when people don't know how to express their feelings. The one thing you begin to learn about these Dimarco boys is they will not tolerate the abuse of women, and that means anyone not just the ones they know and love. Jennifer has a great writing style, these are easy and quick reads because you are so drawn in immediately and just a fair warning, she sets you up for the next book in each Epilogue so you can't help but go from one book and jump immediately into the next one. Waiting for book releases are torturous! :)

I would like to thank CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform and Netgalley for this partnership.

I still love the covers of the books in this series as much as ever.

In this second opus, we find Sydney who was beaten by her companion. She's going to try to start a new life and meet a man. Except the man who beat her is going to come back to the surface, she's going to ask herself a lot of questions. A despised woman and an angry man will confuse him in this second book. Will they succeed in stopping this monster and be able to live happily together?

A book read in one go so much I hooked on the story so moving, captivating, full of suspense and twists and turns and the character of Sydney so endearing. How do you attack a woman as endearing as she is?

Too eager for the series to be released in box set.

Lies danger and love

Sydney is out of a horrendous relationship and is making a life for herself in New Hope with her best friend. Cam has been hiding for 2 years and is working to find the bad guy and bring him down. When these two meet the chemistry is off the charts.

What should be one amazingly sweet start is ripped apart when the lies come to light and they are faced with some serious road blocks. They both want to bring down Syds ex but they have to learn to trust.

Its quite the book and interesting to see where Cam has been all this time. It's just not Sydney he has to face and make things right but with his family too. Will they survive it ?

Much better than the book before it (Lucy). I still wasn't big on how in your face and never giving you space the family was. Also, there was some continuity issues here. Cam says several times he's got five brothers and there are six boys. There are actually 7 boys.

Sydney was a little frustrating in her thinking but it was understandable. Once Cam was honest and forthcoming, her continued secrets did make her the bigger bad guy. Her coup at the end was pretty stupid but again, understandable. I hope we see Beth again, I would like to see her come out on top.

Wow! This book has a lot of intrigue mixed with its spicy. Wink. Yes it is a romance so you won’t get away from that... thank goodness! Haha!

Cameron and Sydney are wonderful together. Ugh everything starts out as lies with them and trust is hard won in this story’s telling.

Prostitution, drugs, and money laundering are some of the topics tackled. Cameron is under cover and Sydney is caught unknowing in the middle. I won’t say more... other than ya gotta read it. Eek. Happy Reading!

These Dimarco men are freaking amazing! This story is about Sydney and Cam. Cam has been working an undercover op for the past 18 months and has not had any contact with his family except for his brother Luke. This book is about getting know the family that you have left for over a year that thought you were dead, forgiveness, and so much freaking love.

I adored it- 4.5 outta 5 from me!

PS: I received this book as an ARC and am honestly reviewing it.

Once you start reading this series you won’t be able to stop. I’m in love with this family! I love the romance intertwined with a little mystery and suspense. All the characters are so easy to relate to. This is one of those books when you sit down to read it you find yourself saying “just one more chapter” and before you know it it’s way past bedtime and you’ve finished the book! Off to start Gianna now.

Another DiMarco alpha

I love the DiMarco boys. They just seem to keep getting better and better (but it’s hard to choose a favorite)

Cameron and Sydney do not have an easy start but you can definitely tell they have the same spark that Jax and Kasey and Cameron and Lucy had. Definitely like the mystery element that ran along with this steamy romance. Next up is Gianna and Brody!

This, like the other two books in the series, has a romantic suspense plot running through it. I thought that was interesting in the beginning. There were some plot holes/plot points that didn't quite fit, though. Also, Cam is a little too "alpha male" almost to the point of pushy or too much.

Of the first three books in the series, I did like this one best.

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.

I loved the first book and this was just as great. I will be reading the rest in the series.

We are introduced to Cameron, another Dimarco brother and continue to see a bit of all the others along the way. An interesting storyline that keeps you turning page after page and one that I struggled to put down. Sydney was also a great addition to the female ensemble of the family.
