Baldwin Bates has only wanted one thing since joining MIND, to take care of his friends and keep them all safe. While the Meta-Alien Investigation and Neutralization Department is busy monitoring an emergence of human psychic and alien activity, Bates takes his first solo assignment searching for a woman who claims to see the future, only to botch it up and let her get away. After helping to destroy an alien device called the Transcender, Lexa Quinn wakes from a two-week coma a very different person than she was before. While her abilities grow stronger, her feelings for Bates begin to interfere with the MIND team's mission, putting everyone at risk. Secrets from her past threaten the present and future, forcing Lexa to decide who she is and where she belongs. When a powerful, ancient enemy lays claim to the Earth and brings his judgment upon the population, Bates, Lexa, and the entire MIND team must do whatever it takes to save the human race before the reckoning is complete.
Jenn’s love of writing started the year she received her first diary and Nancy Drew novel. Throughout her teenage years, she kept a diary of her personal thoughts and feelings but graduated from Nancy Drew to other mystery suspense novels.
Jenn often adds a thriller and suspense element to anything she writes be it Romance, Science Fiction, or Fantasy.
This series is so amazing. I just love all the characters. They are all so different yet linked by friendships and some with so with romances. Great spunk and fire these characters. Sarcasm runs wild. Jennifer nixon will make you laugh out loud and possibly cry!
The Reckoning seamlessly picks up where Mind: The Emergence leaves off. You are on the run from the moment you open the book...there is so much happening. I love the characters and the peek we see into each ones' lives and emotions. It was interesting to watch the process unfold. Who would be important and when. I found I enjoyed watching the relationships bloom and grow; parent to child, friend to friend and couples.
I can't believe it is over. Or is it? There is just enough room to potentially carry on. Jenn Nixon has a way with words and I enjoyed reading every one!
This book added new dimensions with well built characters. The paranormal characters show believable growth in their abilities”M” for Mature. However, with the growth of knowledge in kids it might be a “PG-13”.
This is the third book in the MIND series and its my favourite so far. I felt it flowed so much better than the last book (though there were still a couple of moments where I felt the scenes were a bit all over the place.) Bates and Lexa are also my favourite characters so far. I was intrigued by Lexa's power over technology in the previous book and wow, Nixon really ramped up her abilities and the burdens that come with them. Bates was a total swertheart with a calm and steady nature that really appealed to me. The plot also really opened up and it was really exciting to read all the twists and there was plenty of action thrown in for good measure. There are three more books in the series and I honestly dont know where the story is going to go from here. It will be interesting to find out.
I will tell you that I stopped reading this book at a great moment. When I started to read again, the book exploded with everything and I couldn't put it down. (damn dishes need to be done) The amazing author, Jenn Nixon, hooked line and sinkered me. The Emergence is a book that defidently going on one of my favorite books list for sure. The character development of Lexi in this book is complex as it is simple and easy. The "fight" scenes make logical since, which in Scifi and Fantasy books, that isn't always how it works.
The team work and character development for all of them is also something that is explored in this book. Jenn does a great job of bringing all the facts together to answer burning questions, but opening it up for more lingering questions in the end, like what is in the green shake.
I must admit, this wasn't a "typical" genre for me. With that being said, I feel as though I have a very good objective opinion on this series. The author did a fanastic job with this series. I gave each book in this series a 5 star rating and plan on elaberating my pleasure and justifications as to why. :)
I will be posting updated, more detailed reviews later this week as I have pneumonia and can't fully concentrate on all the detailed descriptions that I would like to add. I want to give a fresh outlook for readers that are contemplating this series. i would definitely recommend this book along with book along with the other two.
I will be looking into reading additional books written by this author..
While I like the other two this one I found it slow but I still liked it since bates finally got a girl yay! but though I did not expect the why he actually got her so good one lass good one. the other dude was a full creeper what's his face and his brother ever mind is... let leave it at that because I don't even know how to classify him.
