Hij onderscheide zich vooral door de psychologische profielen die hij schetste. In 2008 won hij de Hercule Poirotprijs. In 2014 bewees hij met ‘Intifada’ dat hij nog steeds tot de ‘crème de la crème’ behoorde en ook niet verlegen zat om wat controverse. Later dat jaar schreef hij in duo met Aloka Liefrink ‘Onderhuids’.

spannend verhaal soms wel op de grens van het geloofwaardige.

I read this book last weekend, while Febe was in hospital. The book started with "what happened earlier", so I knew this must have been the second book of a certain story, but decided to read it anyway.
Funny thing is, I discovered that I had the first one with me as well in the hospital room. Guess you are not really focussed when your kids hospitalized!
Anyway, despite sometimes finding it hard to follow (it would've helped reading the first part of the story first I guess!), I really liked the book. The central theme is full-on, because it's about sexual child abuse. Not a book you can easy digest. Deflo, a Belgian author, often writes about the twisted and sick minds of human beings, be it about child abuse, a serial rapist (that's the one I'm reading now) are a serial killer. I kind of like that raw edge, although it's always pretty confronting. Maybe I sometimes need to be reminded that not all people are good at heart... I would tend to forget that every now and then otherwise!
