While teaching I observed that my students most of the times made designs for which there were no written instructions available . As their teacher I gave them written instructions from time to time which I felt lots of others were missing . So I decided to write this book which gives step – by – step instructions in the technique of pattern making for various designs and garments evolving from basic sheath . As patterns for lots of designs created can be achieved by using the basic sheath pattern I decided to cover certain designs of ready – to – wear , haute couture and avant garde garments . This book facilitates to achieve well balanced patterns for some easy and some extremely complex designs . It will enhance the skills of pattern makers , pattern making enthusiasts and students to manipulate the pattern of basic sheath block to accomplish different designs . This book covers patterns of designs which are infrequently taught in the fashion schools and colleges but are used to a great extent in the fashion industry . This book is for all the enthusiasts of fashion world who want to enrich their knowledge in pattern making .
