The Night Speaks is a one-of-kind astrology book. In it, best-selling author Steven Forrest offers a model for how astrology works, illuminating the reasons, both rational and transcendent, that astrology has been the focus of his spiritual life.
In his own words, “I love astrology passionately. Every day I see it helping people. But on the street, astrology is still mostly viewed as silliness. Anyone who ‘believes in it’ is taken for a fool. This inspired me to ask: Could I write the book an open-minded critic might read and be inspired to give astrology an hour to prove itself? Could I write one that my clients could confidently hand their skeptical friends? In other words, could I break through the monumental wall of prejudice and ignorance that has kept astrology trapped in its ghetto? This book is my response, and explains why astrology is both intellectually and spiritually plausible.”
I'm personally past caring what anyone thinks about the "validity" of astrology, and so was Forrest even at the time of writing this. However, he is one of the more compelling writers on astrology (he has a way of using potent analogies and distilling things to their essence) and I found this for $1, so had to pick it up. In this book, he ties together a number of physical phenomena that, while not "proving astrology", provide a background against which one truly starts to understand the interconnection of the "tangible" and "intangible" realities of our world, and a place which astrology could or should occupy in the grand scheme of things. He reminds us quite a few times (sometimes explicitly and sometimes just by the nature of the material) that many "scientific" ideas we now take for granted were once either laughed at or feared until we were able to "quantify" them with our limited brains.
As a newbie to astrology I appreciated how this book focused more on how astrology works and gave me a sort of foundation to build upon. Some sections really spoke to me as introductory themes and I look forward to researching and diving more into it.
EXCELLENT author for learning about Astrology. I'm currently reading his introductory book, The Inner Sky. The book THE NIGHT SPEAKS has briefs of astrology itself but primarily this book looks at how it works and such, serving as a personal work that hopes to win people over. I love the section on sun spot phases. So fascinating.
For astrology, I recommend Steven Forrest's books along with Joanna Martine Woolfolk's book, The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need. Gimmicky title, sure, but great.
Me parece un buen libro, aunque el autor aquí peque de humildad. No sólo es un libro que explica "cómo" funciona la astrología, sino "por qué". Tal y como él dice, recomendable para escépticos que pongan objeciones más o menos "científicas".
I thought it was super informational and helpful when it comes to how astrology works, why people believe it works, and clearing up any myths. If you want to know more about astrology and it’s little tiny, bitty details, read. this. book. Steven Forrest never disappoints.
