The author's imagination turns a page turner into a true stunner.
It's a fairly complex plot but always followable, the characters are brought to life in a subdued way, rather like we are meeting them and getting to know them.
The timeline of the story does tend to jump about somewhat and, occasionally, I needed to jump back a few pages to refresh my memory of a certain happening. This, however, does not detract from the story as it is all about jumps in time. Indeed, had it been told in a linear fashion, I felt it would have lost some part of the narrative.
One slight criticism is that the dialogue between the human characters is, at times, rather stilted and reminds one of Enid Blyton writing in the nineteen fifties. The dialogue between alien characters and humans, however, is spot on and now I have several new catchphrases.
Overall, I consider this a remarkable achievement for a new, first time author encompassing time travel, relativistic theory and human emotional development in one complete novel.
