I had a rather short area here telling a little about me but then I had more than a few people ask me to expand it so... here goes. LOL. I'm a full time home 'supervisor' which is a nice word for saying I'm a housewife. I'm married happily, I met my dream guy 20 years ago, and we have 4 children. I live in Southern California and I can't function without iced coffee. I believe in romance, I've always been a daydreamer, and I'm a HUGE fan of books, always have been.

No, I didn't know that I always wanted to write. I inhaled books as a child. I read entire series (Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, The Borrowers, etc) in a matter of days at a time. By the time I was nine years old I had an adult library card where I visited often. I moved on to John Saul, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Agatha Christie, and then found romance. I was hooked. I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories. My first book was started after I read a real bomb of a book that ticked me off with really horrible characters and a plot that was shabby at best and I thought... I could do better. LOL.

I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90's. I wrote a series of a few books from it. I'm a series fan! I kept writing for fun, wrote MANY books and then in 2009 I decided to try to get published. I wrote my first Sci Fi romance and Ral's Woman came to be. I submitted it and with a little tweaking, Ellorascave sent me an acceptance letter. It was kind of a 'Cinderella' experience for me. It's been a terrific ride so far and I'm really happy that I finally had the time to commit to writing full time. It's a dream come true.

The complete asshole cyborg from the first book gets his own human sex slave in this one. Oh goody! Let's reward the dick!

The good news is that his "sex slave" is actually the first female in the series that I like, because she's just not having it.

Dickhead...I mean, Iron: "This will work between us."

Dawn licked her lips. "If you think it's going to be that easy, think again."

Iron's smile died. "Your going to be difficult for me?"

She smiled. "You have no idea."

You go girl!! Finally, a chick with some backbone!

There were funny moments in this book. Iron had no idea how human women worked, so when he wanted to have sex with her, this was his foreplay:

"Activate your sex drive now."

You wish, dude!!

No wonder all of the women cyborgs are such bitches. What does a girl have to do to get a little warm-up around here?

So, Dawn doesn't take any crap. I like her. And, dammit if I didn't end up liking this asshole, Iron, who made me want to kill him in the first book. I hate when that happens!

3.5 Hot Cyborg Stars!!!

cyborg tat

Iron has never been with a human woman, but one look at Dawn and he has to have her. She has red hair just like his, and a fiesty personality to match!! Iron is used to giving orders and having them followed. Which is really amusing when he try's to get Dawn in the mood...
"Activate your sex drive now"

Yes, these two have a few communication barriers to tackle. Dawn starts to work her way under Iron's skin
and he wants everyone to know, just who she belongs to.
"I will not grow tired of you. I will never give you away or release you." "I own you. You will carry my name on your body."
"You're mine, little red," Iron growled. " And I'm marking you in every damn way so you know who you belong to."

dawn

Dawn's a total tomboy, badass. She ends up saving another cyborg and dares to ask about him later. Let's just say I love it when alpha males experience a little jealousy.
"You are mine, Dawn. Never forget that. I won't share your body, or space in your thoughts, with another man."

Yes, Iron sounds like a neanderthal at times, but he's so damn sexy and endearing about it that I just couldn't get enough. These two were so different yet so compatible. I loved the way Iron fell for Dawn, even as he attempted to keep her at arms length.
"You make me so hot, Dawn. You warm me where I was cold once. It's like I'm melting right into you and want to get so damn close that we're one."

I am loving this Cyborg series and can't get to the next book fast enough!!
"I'll fuck you slow later, but for now, I want you. You make me lose my control."

Two people with iron wills!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 😠😚😁
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Solo Narration

The heroine: Dawn - she was a mechanic on a space station and had been for eight years. She had been out with some other women on a shuttle traveling back and forth between earth. She and other women from the shuttle were taken captive after their shuttle was boarded. She knew it wasn’t pirates that took her, since space pirates are humans that have been made crazy and deformed by radiation exposure. But the grey men that took her were something different.

The Hero: Iron - he is a cyborg. Cyborgs were created in labs on earth and were born with metal skeletons and computer chips in their brains. They are different than what we traditionally think of as Cyborgs which are humans with parts replaced with metal or computer chips. Though some of that was done as well, but they were born as cyborgs and can reproduce with other cyborgs. Iron is tall, muscular and handsome with grey skin and long hair.

The Story: Dawn thinks she will die soon after being captured by the cyborgs. She thinks they will be used for spare parts, like organs that they cyborgs may need as replacements. Though that is not what they use humans for. Cyborgs were mistreated by humans for years before humans found that cyborgs were born with souls, and they couldn’t control them. At that point, humans tried to destroy all of them, but many had escaped to outer space.

Dawn tries to escape and fights back against the cyborgs since she thinks she will die soon anyway. She takes one down and is ready to fight the next one that comes to get her from the cargo area where they are being kept. When she was caught by Iron, she had to give up and was afraid for the other woman who was with her, so she agreed to be owned by Iron and agreed to be in his bed in exchange for them not using the women for parts. Though that turned out to just be a rumor and not what cyborgs actually do with humans.

I am not sure I liked Dawn as a person. At times she acted so tough and almost like a guy because she has been a woman in a mans job and goes on and on about the fact that she is a mechanic. But she was too forward and man like for my tastes. At times, that is. Because before long she was whining over and over about the fact that Iron leaves her alone all day. Yet instead of asking if she could work on his ship, she just begs for him to spend time with her.

I also have a bit of a hard time with how easily the women in this series so far accept the fact that they are basically slaves. I mean even if the cyborgs they are with don’t see them that way, everybody else in the cyborg society sees them as owned by their mates. In this one, Iron even says that if Dawn ever killed a cyborg she would have no rights. Even true love wouldn’t be enough to be treated like a slave or be owned in any way.

This book was told in dual points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Mindy Kennedy. She has a pleasant voice, though she sounds pretty much the same no matter what character she is voicing. So she isn’t one of my favorites, but I like this series so far, so I purchased most of them.

Iron & Dawn

Iron is a big, bad, stubborn and red haired Cyborg. He is drawn towards Dawn because she is red haired too, but he does not know how to approach her. First of all he makes her his slave, so she cannot escape and then he locks her in his room.
He attempts to have sex with her, but he is not sure how it works with humans.

“You’re not ready for sex. Activate your sex drive.”
“I’m not a damn computer. I can’t get turned-on at a command, ass**le.”

So he gets an induction course by Flint and Mira. You may remember this funny scene from book 1 “Burning Up Flint”. It is not repeated in this book, but you can imagine where he goes.
Afterwards he comes back, ties her up and then we have one of the most intense forced seduction scenes I have ever read.

Dawn is a fierce, badass, possessive and red haired human. She used to work as a mechanic in a space station before she became Iron’s property. She was shocked when she found out that he has her father’s age, but this does not stop her from developing feelings for him.
She will be jealous and will fight for him with other female Cyborgs. She will also try to make him feel things for her and admit it.
Her objective will be to melt Iron’s heart, but at the same time she will manage to gain the respect of the rest of the Cyborgs. Clever girl!

Melting Iron is book three in the Cyborg Seduction series by Laurann Dohner.

I started this series with book six then went forward and then backwards. I ended up picking up the books that’s blurbs appealed to me in this series. Melting Iron sounded good, but turned out to have no plot and was just smut. I want to point out that I feel the later books in the series are better and have more of a plot and romance then the earlier books.

Now I see/understand a little more as to why the Cyborg’s dislike humans and why they act as they do, but for the most part in this book they are dicks and I don't care for their societies structure that they put into place.

Melting Iron is my least favorite in the series. The storyline is force seduction and to close to rape for my liking. The first half of the story, nothing happens, except sex and fighting.

As for the romance I never felt any love between Iron and Dawn nor did I see our Cyborg change his attitude towards humans.

Unfortunately, I didn’t like how the story played out. Melting Iron was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

4 Melting Iron Stars

Iron… Iron and I don’t see eye to eye at the beginning and I think that is why I rooted for Dawn so hard, she was feisty. She doesn't let Iron walk all over her. She fights back. Fights for what she wants. I really enjoyed that part of their story.

Trust plays a big part of Cyborg life and past and present. Most all the stories have trust to be had and fight for. Really like that this is part of these stories. It’s not always about love and lust but trust on both sides really plays a big part. And I like that we see that with these big guys. When they have to learn to trust the humans just as the humans have to trust the Cyborgs not to hurt or harm them for being human.

Again a great book! I am looking forward to continuing my marathon of this series!

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

"Activate your sex drive now."

This cyborg cracked me up :D

Dawn was a mechanic working in space station when she was taken by the cyborgs and blackmailed to be a sex slave by Iron Cyborg.
Dawn was independent, tough and feisty heroine. Iron was introduced in book 1 Burning up Flint and he was an ass. Here I got to know more about him and like him better.

The relationship between Dawn and Iron escalated too fast for me, Dawn being a fighter and hate the fact that she was kidnapped but found herself warming up then fall in love with the big, red haired cyborg, was not believable. Iron seemed more possessive of his property rather than emotionally involved. But all in all, this could be the world they lived in, it was set in the future, not much choice for the survivors. I still enjoy the whole story.

Up until this point this series has been a fun, quick and satisfying read. The writing is good, flows nicely and it's getting me out of a hangover after ToS series. Kind of nice to be in a space world before getting back to earth and read contemporary :p I might like it here longer before I return to "reality".

This series is freakin AWESOME!!! I can't believe I just found it. I'm gonna bypass book 4 for now, and jump right into #5, Stealing Coal. He/his story just seems way more intriguing for me right now.

So far Books 1 & 3 have been my faves. Book 2 wasn't all that great for me. It wasn't bad, just didn't hook me like the others. Hoping book 5 does not disappoint.

It took me a while to warm up to Iron since he's such a hard ass, cold and withdrawn. He decides to take Dawn as a sex slave and this really irked me. Dawn is also a hothead so when these 2 redheads lock horns, it can get really ugly.

Dawn figures that since she's forced to be with Iron she should make the best of it. With some work, she convinces him to sleep in her bed, then to shower together. Eventually, she managed to reach through his tough shell and get to the gooey center. My favorite part.

I adore Laurann Dohner's writing. The woman can write the HELL out of some STEAMY sex scenes. AND she is great at getting my emotional investment.
But this book bugged me SO much.

Dawn is taken prisoner, and the book begins with her in a cage freaking out thinking the cyborgs will be harvesting her body parts. When she was about to cut open the hull so they could all be killed and she's yelling "I'll see you in Hell!!!" - *that* was a cool heroine.

Iron calls dibs on her, takes her to his room, bullies her, is cold....makes her come like a rocket...and now she's no longer acting like a prisoner is being sexually coerced? She's working to make Iron happy and flirt with him and hold his attention. Begging for him to spend the night holding her...

It's as if every orgasm he gave her sucked her personality out through her vagina and replaced her with a Stepford slave.

If Ms Dohner had just made Dawn resist a little? But alas no, Dawn is metaphorically doodling hearts with Iron's name in them after the first time he lays pipe
...or maybe if Iron hadn't been SUCH a dick....ugh. He shows no caring, emotion or want (outside of sex) for Dawn until the very end...and that was 'barely'.

This book just didn't do it for me.

This one was tough. It was in Dawn's POV and I felt like I lost a lot by not getting Iron's POV. Iron was hated in book 1, but you knew he had formed a bond with Dawn by the end of that book. But I swear in this book I could not tell that at all until the end. It took place during and after book 1. For most of the book Dawn is trapped in her room and only used for sex. I say used for sex, because the dickhead refused to even sleep with her for most of the book. However, I found myself liking Iron - which I thought would NEVER happen!

Dawn also started off strong, but then once they started f@cking she became a bit of a simpering idiot.

This one was just so-so for me. The heroine did improve for me but I didn't enjoy this one as much as I have others in this series. I didn't warm up to either Dawn or Iron. This one just didn't work for me.

I do still enjoy this series and I am waiting for the next one from the library.

Repetitivo y apresurado.

I guess I'm rather disappointed with this book, which is too bad. I was really looking forward to liking it...

I really, really didn't like Dawn very much...ever. Really didn't like her or her confrontational nature. Sometimes it seemed she was just fighting with Iron purely for the entertainment of fighting. Plus, she's very manipulative, yelling and arguing to get what she wants and, when that doesn't work, she uses sex. Bleh. I couldn't believe Iron still wanted to be around her. At all.

Plus, for the first half of the story, almost nothing happens. Oh, wait. Sex happens. Fighting happens. But other than that?? Oh, and later, Iron makes the switch from distrustful to loving very quickly....

I guess that wasn't much remarkable about this story. I can't say that I'll re-read it, and I hate to admit it but I'm kinda sorry I paid money for it.

Why do I expect erotica to be better? I think of it as romance with sex in it, but it's never believable. My fault, not Ms Dohner.

In this case we have a kidnapped woman who, only because she hasn't had sex in 2 years, has no problem in being turned on while forced, just because. And just because she falls in love with this guy. :) err.. why? There's no chemistry in story or sex. Meh.

I found Demon's Captive way more believable in characterization.

The wink to Kaitlyn O'Connor's series Cyberrevolution is cheeky :D

I think I'm done with this series. Every book is the same. The girls are different, and Dawn was a likeable character, but the cyborgs are the same. The problems they have are the same, the solutions are the same, and everybody is always happy at the end, and its really boring. The sex part were ok, of course they always came at the same time and the cyborgs are huge, and "poor me I can't take that" and then "continues to fuck with him like a rabid dog". bla bla. not my cup of tee.

Just ok, nothing special. At least I didn’t want it to be over, but I would have liked a better story.

REVIEWER’S OPINION:
Some conflicts were based on Dawn assuming incorrect things which could have been better.

STORY BRIEF:
The cyborgs have a shortage of females. They occasionally capture human women to be their mates. Iron and his buddies kidnap some human females. Iron selects Dawn for himself. She assumes she will be cut up and used for spare parts. She is surprised to learn Iron wants her for sex. She starts to fall for him, but he doesn’t trust her. He fears she will try to hurt him or try to escape. She’s kept locked in his room with nothing to do and is bored. She’s a talented mechanic.

OTHER BOOKS:
This is part of the Cyborg Seduction series. I did not read them in order. I read #4 and 5 first, and I was fine with that. But someone else recommended reading them in order, which is probably a good idea if you don’t mind reading the lower ratings first. A few things might flow a little better. My ratings are:
Burning Up Flint #1 (2 ½ stars)
Kissing Steel #2 (3 stars)
Melting Iron #3 (3 stars)
Touching Ice #4 (4 stars)
Stealing Coal #5 (4 stars)

DATA:
Ebook story length: about 3 ½ hours. Kindle count story length: 3512 (314 KB). Swearing language: strong. Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: 11. Setting: future time traveling on spaceships. Copyright: 2010. Genre: erotic sci-fi romance.

Another great entry in this sci fi romance series by Laurann Dohner. This is a character who was in the first book and wasn't a particularly pleasant character in that one so I wondered how this would be. I really liked it. The stories are getting better and better. One of the best elements of this story was the character of the heroine. She was a mechanic who had been stolen off of a transport in order for more of the cyborg males to find human females since there are so few cyborg women. She was strong and didn't take any guff from Iron. It didn't take her long to fall in love with him. I wondered briefly about Stockholm syndrome after all her had her locked in his room for weeks. But I just didn't see it. She was too level headed and was kind of a pushy broad and got what she wanted and it was pretty much him and he ended up falling in love with her of course. The cyborg world building and plot continue to grow and it is a very interesting story and shows a lot of thought in its construction. My only caveat is that even though this is definitely an erotic romance, there was just too much of it especially considering the actual world building, sci fi and romance elements were so strong. I would rather have more of that and fewer generic love scenes.

You warm me

I always lose myself in this author’s works. The characters in this story are just as amazing as I thought they would be. The hard nosed cyborg, and the brazen human who refuses to give up what she wants. I love how she shakes up his world and gives him something to fight for. I’m a little put off by the attitudes of the recovered lady cyborgs, but I’m sure there will be others on Garden that can give them what they want. This book is fantastic and I can’t wait to see who finds love next.

Kind of a roller coaster. But ultimate very enjoyable. Dawn was even more feisty than the females before her. Sometimes that can be a little irritating. But these Cyborgs' crazy way of life is also very unusual. So its a lot of complicated compromises and bumps in the road as they find their way to happiness. I love this author. I like this series. Who's next?

It was an ok read, but I was really looking forward to Irons book, and for a Laura Dohner book this one just didn't quite hit the mark for me. I think that is do to the fact that Dawn was just not a Character I personally could relate to. She was a wishy washy nut case imo. I kinda just wanted to slap the shit out of her!!

It was a decent progression of the series otherwise.

Apparently I was wrong about Iron. On the book one, he was an a$$hole but in this book.. Seriously. He's as gentle as he can be and I love that about him.

This story was a real clunker. After the disappointing books that preceded this I was hoping that this book would be an improvement. It was in one respect: Iron came to be possessive of the heroine a lot sooner than the previous heroes, but as with the former books in the series, I didn’t feel the love. He doesn’t tell her he loves her until the end and when he finally does it just wasn’t convincing to me and it definitely didn’t feel heartfelt. The heroine was pretty annoying. To be fair, however, I don’t care for tomboy heroines at all. I like feminine heroines who don’t get excited by doing grimy, manual labor type jobs. That’s just my personal preference. And yeah, we get it, Iron has a hot body and gorgeous hair, shut up about it already! And there was way too much sex. I didn’t feel an emotional bond, just lots of banging. I honestly don’t know if I’ll continue with this series.

Another guilty pleasure read rompfest. There's not much to say plot-wise (nothing at all, it's purely romance in this one) and it's smut. It was effortless to read this. If I have to comment, I'll say, I like the main character's gumption in going for what she wants and using any means (even dub-con means which had me a bit iffy) possible. She's also hot tempered when it came to Iron. But overall really, it's just smut in space.
