I knew that the end to this trilogy was going to be good, however I didn't realise just HOW good it would be!
First off this is part of a trilogy, could you read as a standalone? Well yes, but I absolutely don’t see the point. I think what makes this last part of the trilogy so good is the conclusion. Books one gives us perspectives of sisters Tiff and Jen Miller, and book 2 takes you back 40 years and we see their Mother Babs Miller take center stage. Book 3 is the culmination of all that has gone on in the previous 2 books and is every bit as brilliant as I thought it would be. We see all the characters make a return each with their own thread to the story. Babs, the two girls Jen and Tiff as well as half -sister Dee are all back with a bang as well as other characters that are just as important including Kieran Scott, John Black and Flo.
It seems from the very beginning of this book that each character has their own agenda. Not only that, but DSM has created characters that just jump out of the page at you. These women are feisty, scared if nothing and every bit as cunning as a man could be. When Babs announces she has property which she wants to use to help all her kids, it doesn’t have quite the desired effect and instead seems to be the catalyst for World War 3. There was one element of the story I didn’t see coming and initially wondered if the author had made a huge mistake, but on reflection it was totally the right move.
The book doesn’t let up and once you start it’s like a freight train and it’s extremely hard to jump off! There are a huge number of bombshells dropped throughout the story and before I knew it I was nearing the final leg. What I loved about this last part of the trilogy especially was the all-out war, and the battle for all the women to try and come together once again. By the time I got to the end I was gutted the read was over and if I’m 100% honest would happily read all about the Millers again. Why? Well for a start the last chapter was brilliant and frankly it wasn’t what I was expecting. Also there are a new generation of Millers that have huge potential for being part of a newer set of books that I think would be hugely entertaining.
I have always been a huge fan of Dreda’s and must say I always thought the Gangster Girl books were great, however having read this trilogy and now having finished this latest book I feel like the Miller books have taken precedence. For all the Kimberley Chambers, Jessie Keane and Mandasue Heller fans out there, do yourself a favour and buy the trilogy…I promise…you won’t regret it!

I know when I pick up a book by Dreda Say Mitchell I’m in for a real treat, Blood Daughter takes the reader on a journey through the seedier side of life, the criminal underworld, dysfunctional families, a world where violence is an every day occurrence. Although you could probably read this book as a standalone I would recommend you read the first two books in the series first, Blood Sister and Blood Mother, not only because it’s such a fabulous series but there’s a hell of a back story to the Miller family.
In many ways the characters are the typical stereotypes I have come to expect in this type of crime book, but the author has expertly created an array of characters with big personalities that make them unforgettable. I thought things couldn’t get any worse for the miller’s but boy was I wrong. Mum Bab’s and daughters Dee, Jen and Tiff have all had their fair share of life throwing them a duff hand, things appear to be on the up when Bab’s comes into some money and tells her daughters she’s going to share it with them, you would think all their problems would be over, but hell no, as the saying goes “money is the root of all evil” and it’s not long before the once close family are at war.
Blood Daughter won’t be to everyone’s taste as it’s punctuated with choice language, but it’s very much in keeping with the characters, some of the subjects touched on may make some readers feel uncomfortable, prostitution, violence and debt are just a few that come to mind. In the author’s defence Blood Daughters is a very gritty and entertaining read and if like me you enjoy what I personally call “grit lit” authentic characters, settings and story lines that depict the shadier side of life, then I would highly recommend this book.

I couldn't wait to get my teeth into this beauty after Blood Mother left me hanging. Lucky for me I only had to wait six months which was long enough to catch up with the Miller family woo hoo. OMG what a brilliant ending to a gripping and fantastic trilogy…
Blood Daughter is the third and final book in the flesh and blood trilogy which I recommend you read in order.
Telling a story about Bab’s coming into some money that she plans to share with her daughters. Sounds simple doesn't it? But this is the Miller’s and nothing is ever simple when it comes to money because it always causes trouble with them.So you have Jen who wants to make a better life for her kids. Tiff who owes a lot of bad men a lot of money. And Dee is worried that her husband is getting back into the criminal life. As the sisters fall out, a gold bullion heist brings more opportunities - and many more dangers. None of them are giving up without a fight...
With an OMG prologue, the story told in two parts. The first part we are taken back to a month ago in the year 2006 so read what happens before the grand finally in part two. Where I lost track of how many times I said OMG...NO WAY. Talk about nail biting stuff with plenty of twists and turns that I didn't see coming. Dreda Mitchell has certainly nailed it.
Babs has got to be my favourite character she is strong and independant and will do anything to her protect her family. Dreda has brought every character to life and made them so real. Like always you will either like them or hate them...but the bad guys are meant to be hated aren't they?!
I love how Dreda has wrote this story where we have a lot going on and the chapters alternate with different characters stories with each each leaving you wanting more. This is without a doubt a page turner,I love how everything is nicely woven together after building up all the layers and teasing us. After reading all three books everything finally falls into place and all the questions I was left with previously are all nicely wrapped up…... Simply brilliant!
This is one trilogy you really don't want to miss. Fans of Kimberly Chambers and Mandasue Heller will love it. I cannot recommend it enough giving it 5 massive stars.

This was third book in a trilogy (I haven't read the other two) but may pick them up when I see them. A bit of an east end gangster type book. Haven't read one of those in a while and really enjoyed it. Some of it a bit far fetched but enjoyable

Guys this is book three in a trilogy, if you haven't read the previous two I advise you to do so. You can get away with reading this one off the bat as it does give you history of that which has passed. However, I think in order to fully appreciate the things the characters do and full impact of it you should have vested in the previous books. Babs is still in the jail but has come into a bit of money and wants to share it with her daughters. As you know money always causes issues and this family was already packing enough baggage for a whole crew! Jen, Tiff and Dee have very different attitudes towards what should happen to the money as well as their own personal dramas. As the tension builds between the siblings danger is lurking around the corner and no one has anyones back!
I do love the Miller family, they really have been through the mill already and the book is broken into different issues. Babs coping (or trying to) in jail, the sibling rivalry, the sisters personal issues, Dee's husband keeping away from the life and all manners of skulduggery. Like an onion there are many layers to the book, love, lies, violence, secrets, the past coming back to bite you in the bottom and death. You would think by the third book the story would be starting to slow or the author run out of ideas, not in this trio. The book keeps packing punches, hooking the reader and keeping the pace page after page.
I have read a few of Mitchell's books and have another couple on the tbr, each book is fresh and for this one giving some closure and rounding up a fabulous tale. You won't be disappointed and I cannot wait to see what Mitchell has next for us, 4/5 for me this time. Thanks so much to BookBridgr for providing me with a review copy! Having read book one Blood Sister and book 2 Blood Mother, it meant that I knew majority of the characters and so when I dived head first into book 3 it was because I couldn't wait to reacquaint myself with all of the characters Babs, Jen, Tiffany, Courtney and Dee as I really felt like I'd gotten to know them and of course I was looking forward to seeing what would happen next.
Suffice to say, I was not disappointed, I absolutely loved the story, found it to be a real page turner right from the get go. Absolutely gripping and fast paced, plus the characters are all so very well written that you forget they are not real as you become completely and utterly captivated by their going ons and let’s not forget all of the drama and shocking events that takes place throughout.
Last words, the story certainly had me guessing throughout as to what would happen next and in some places I was very much on the edge of my seat in anticipation of what would happen next. As for that bit at the end, well the less said on that the better before I accidentally let loose a spoiler. But what I will say, is that I can't wait to read book four Blood Secrets, the final installment.
Oh and one more thing, if you haven't discovered Dreda's books yet, then I highly recommend them, they are sooooo goooood. Her books are definitely on par with those of Martina Cole and Casey Kelleher.

I received my copy from a Goodreads giveaway, not realising it was part of a trilogy. I need not have worried as this can easily be read as a standalone. There are moments where the story refers back to previous events, but it's easy enough to keep up.
This is a fun and gritty book which kept me going for a few days. 'Fun' might not be the most appropriate word to use for a book set in the gangland milieu' and including a lot of swearing and a fair few acts of violence. I felt though that it was done in a slightly tongue in cheek way and that the author was not taking herself too seriously. It's like Eastenders mixed with Prisoner Cell Block H, with larger than life characters and 'proper' cockney dialogue.
I would recommend this book; it's a solid and meaty read which isn't too taxing and delivers what it promises: Gritty drama.

This is the third book in the Miller Trilogy, coming back into the present day and all the trials and tribulations of the Millers. I loved these books as they kept me engrossed from page 1 of book one, right to the final letter of the third!
This book is centred around the daughters and the story enfolds, drama, lies. the trials and tribulations are laid bare of this normal,(or are they?) family.
was gutted to end these books and am impatiently waiting for more from Dreda! cannit wait to see whats in store for the family I have grown so fond of!

I won this book in a giveaway.
I had mixed feelings about this book. I think it could have been shorter. I found the characters a little unbelievable and slightly over the top but at the same time I wanted to get to the end. And was kept guessing to the end about the mystery. I guess part of the problem for me is that the east end is so different now and while this was set in the past i couldn't look past that fact.
Saying that, I would recommend this if you like books about East End Gangsters, easy holiday reads or turbulent family life.
I had mixed feelings about this book. I think it could have been shorter. I found the characters a little unbelievable and slightly over the top but at the same time I wanted to get to the end. And was kept guessing to the end about the mystery. I guess part of the problem for me is that the east end is so different now and while this was set in the past i couldn't look past that fact.
Saying that, I would recommend this if you like books about East End Gangsters, easy holiday reads or turbulent family life.

the series of the miller family is like rejoining old friends. the sisters are all so different but you can't help but like them with Babs, the mum and head of the family trying to keep control of them all. there is family arguments, jealousy, greed, laughter and sadness and enemy flo miller rears her head. another great instalment and enjoyable read!

Whilst a number of threads have been bought to a neat and favourable conclusion, there are more threads started that haven't been satisfactorily been concluded.
The first one is the half sister, Flo and how she and the main protagonists get on. Secondly the matriarch and her friend who have inadvertently ended up with so much gold that had been stolen from a heist and how to get rid of it to make money.

This is the third book in the Flesh and Blood series and definitely the best! Good to reunite with Babs and the Miller family for this latest installment. Dreda delivers all in this tale, murder, family tensions, robbery, kidnapping and betrayal. Another superb read from one of my favourite authors. Many thanks to Net Galley for my copy.

The third book about Babs Miller and her girls. Babs is now inside for the man slaughter of Stan her good for nothing husband, but what will happen to her family while she’s away. This book is as fast paced and thrilling as book one and two. I was gripped from page one and couldn’t put it down. I’m excited for book four.

This is book 3 in this trilogy and yet again Dreda Say Mitchell has written an excellent book . I loved this and while you could read this as a stand-alone I would recommend you read the first two in the trilogy before this one . If you’re a fan of Martina Cole and kimberley Chambers and enjoy gritty underworld crime thrillers these books are for you.

Hope there is a book two to this as I felt the ending was abrupt .unfinished
