Gary Craig is the founder of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), a form of alternative therapy that is used to alleviate emotional and physical distress. He was born in 1940 in California, USA and is a graduate of Stanford University, where he studied engineering.

After working as an engineer for many years, Craig became interested in personal performance coaching and began exploring various alternative therapies. He eventually developed EFT in the 1990s, drawing on insights from fields such as psychology, acupuncture, and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP).

Craig's goal with EFT was to create a simplified and more accessible version of these techniques that could be easily learned and used by anyone. He introduced EFT to the public in 1995 with the publication of his manual, "The EFT Course," and continued to refine and develop the technique over the years.

In addition to his work with EFT, Craig is also a certified master practitioner of NLP and a trained hypnotherapist. He has trained thousands of practitioners in EFT and has authored several books on the technique, including "The EFT Manual" and "EFT for Weight Loss."

Today, Craig is retired and no longer actively involved in teaching or promoting EFT. However, his contributions to the field of alternative therapy have been significant, and EFT continues to be used by many practitioners around the world.

I tend to be skeptical about techniques that promise great results with very little effort. It's not that I don't believe it's possible, but there are many resources out there that over promise and under deliver.

To be told that a series of taps on the face, upper body and hands can lead to dramatic results would make anyone raise an eyebrow (or two... or three), which is why I put off reading about EFT for a long time.

But I've heard many great things about EFT, and those who've tried it out swear by its effectiveness, which is why I thought I'd read this book and give the technique a shot.

The basic premise behind EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is that negative thoughts and experiences give rise to unhealthy emotions and cravings by causing a disturbance in the flow of energy through our body.

The tapping sequences that EFT suggests are intended to bring about balance to our body's energy and help release the unhealthy emotions we may experience, similar to the principles of acupuncture targeting pressure points in the body.

I tried EFT on a number of emotions I wanted to release (overwhelm, intimidation, stress, etc) and asked my wife to try it to relieve the stress she was experiencing prior to giving birth.

We both feel that EFT was effective, and I'd like to continue experimenting with it to find out the range of issues it can help in overcoming.

This isn't to say that I completely by the explanation offered by the author as to why the tapping procedure works, but it's something worth exploring further.

The book is very clear in explaining the theory behind EFT, as well as how to practice the technique. I suggest you either read the book or check out some YouTube videos to get a feel for the technique and find out for yourself whether it can be of value to you or not.

Tap it all away says the author and creator of EFT(Emotional Freedom Technique) and he's right --you can. This is a very readable book and it explains in detail the easy EFT technique which combines Tapping acupressure points with clear set up statements to help release you from fears, habits or phobias. I really liked it--and the story of a cousin who used tapping to help her cross a dangerous rope bridge was pretty convincing for me. Let's face it anything that helps us through is worth a go.

I just finished the 2nd edition (which I can not find here but wanted to list this anyway). The 2nd edition is a wonderful book, with MANY more examples of how it works, why it works. I chose to read the 2nd edition because I came into contact with the 1st last spring & was quite skeptical so I tested it & what I tested it on really worked. So I had decided to read the latest manual on it & THEN to start over on my journey of healing what I need to work on in my life and to help others also. I would most definitely recommend this book to ALL.

Wow!! Just put a sick baby to sleep with this book. Getting ready to start using it on my own issues . . .

BTW for my neutralizing affirmation I use "Even though I have _______, HEAVENLY FATHER loves and cares for me." Instead of "Even though I have _______, I deeply and completely accept myself." Consequently, I'm calling EFT MAGNETIC PRAYER. :)

Free downloadable manual online-- this technique seems strange but it has been extremely useful to me for eliminating limiting beliefs and emotional blocks.

Easy to do, and it works. There is some so-called scientific explanation that reads more like psuedo-science, but the technique works.

The technique is good, but in times it was very boring to read the same thing (not the technique itself, rather the evidence) again and again.

My therapist taught me this technique several weeks ago and I picked up the book because I forgot the technique and thought I'd give it a shot.

Okay, first off -- I couldn't finish the book. Maybe it's unfair, then, for me to give it a rating...

Another thing -- I don't believe in meridians/energy pathways in my body, unless it's energy in terms of blood and oxygen flowing through my body and such... I know Gary Craig said that this technique works even if you don't believe in it. That it's effective if you just do it, but a part of me balks at that claim. Because I'd like to believe in something I'm participating in if it's to make my health better. I don't want to do something just for show. I've done that enough when it comes to other parts of my life. I'm not going to do it with something that's personal and my own responsibility and choice.

Also, the author's tone in this book sounds so...so...self-congratulatory. I cringed while reading his introduction.

I know my therapist and other people I know of/know personally believe in energy pathways. Maybe this will work for them, because they're willing to work at it, and do it. I think I'm going to stick to CBT/DBT/talking therapy and journaling to help me with my problems and issues and bad memories.

I thought this book was ridiculous. It felt like reading propaganda, and there was very little scientific evidence included to make me believe that it works. Even the chapter called "The Science Behind EFT" does a poor job of telling me why and how it works. It says that it is based on the science of energy meridians, which have not been proven to exist. The whole idea of EFT sounds a little bit like The Secret, which is really just positive thinking disguised as a mystical experience.

Great book, I love this kind of book- a book that gives you an actual method, an actual way to change your life for the better. No simplistic philosophies, no long-term practices that might or may not work. Just a simple method that takes 5 minutes to do and can change your life.

This is pretty much one of the best books ever written in my humble opinion.

This is an amazing method for healing yourself. I am familiar with accupressure points--these are the accupuncture meridians. You literally tap on the meridians shown in the book while repeating a statement. The wonderful thing about this is that the statement does not have to be completely positive. This technique is to balance your energy meridians and assist you in healing yourself. Love it.

Couldn't finish it. It makes this technique out to be all powerful even in the hands of a self taught nobody. I just have a hard time believing that this really is a quick fix. And if these techniques actually do work, they should probably be done by a... Professional?... I guess is the word I'm looking for. It just seems like a placebo fix.

The book was a very easy read. The author wrote as if he were speaking to you. I also found the author to be very honest, down to earth, sincere, and passionate. Its rare you find an author who writes like that, especially when writing an manual. It was a pleasure to read. I have yet to test what was taught, but given the evidence I am VERY hopeful and looking forward to passing on this gem.

ongoing reading as this is one of the treatments I use on occasion to move blocks in therapy. a great tool to connect cognitive therapy with exposure therapy using acupressure. it helps patient to see what they are avoiding and give attention to this without the demand of change, thus bringing about change and release of hidden pain.

While I like the idea of stress reduction points, as in value the body's influence on emotions, I dislike the discourse of resisting emotions. "The one thing holding you back..." better resonated w/me for now at least.
