Living in the mountains, away from civilization and away from the eyes of mundanes. The Mountain packs are harsh and brutal. Shifter against shifter. Pack against pack. Wolves against wolves. All fighting for the same thing. Survival.
Azrael Thorn was a powerful Alpha. He had taken his title by force, as tradition dictated. Power and authority of the Alphas and shifters who had challenged him and lost radiated off of his tall, bulky frame. He was dangerous and he was everything an Alpha of a Mountain pack should be. Yet he had no mate or family to call his own. But a mate who could not stand the bitterly cold winters or the brutality of the pack would not produce strength. It would only bring weakness.
Weakness is not allowed in the Mountain packs. ~ If the pain stops, it means you are dead.
Lace Owens is underestimated at every turn. Her small and delicate built matches her name but the power of defeated enemies hang off her heavily. A power and an authority that would bring many men to their knees if they sensed it, hangs off of her like an oppressively dark cloud but she hides it carefully. Unwilling to let anyone see just how powerful she has become.
Her skin is marked with a painful past and she has turned a thing of cruelty into a thing of beauty with her blade. Swirling patterns adorning her skin, hiding the cruelty among her willing pain, her only comfort against the world around her.
If the pain stops, it means you are dead.
Two world collide as Azrael and Lace form a bond and spiral down into unfamiliar territory where Azrael is shown that strength doesn't always come from size and Lace learns that love can spring from even the most painful places. Together they show the werewolf world a long held belief still stands strong.
Author Bio: I'm just your average sarcastic, introverted author who has a demanding job and no life, who spends all her free time writing stories.
I write because I love doing it and I love creating stories and characters. So I hope you love them just as much
I currently have two series on the go, Forgotten and Twisted Dark. I also have various other projects on the go and if anyone wants to ask me anything go right ahead!
Reader Bio: I love reading and ive been a reader since I first picked up a book. I love to review books and get my thoughts out there. My ratings do make sense once you understand them.
Rating scale:
5 stars- Will read again/have read again
4 stars- a decent read, very enjoyable/may read again 3 stars- average book with decent enough writing/will more than likely not read again
2 stars- did not enjoy but the writing or plot was decent/the book was not for me.
1 star- no, absolutely not/there was little redeemable I found in the book.
My love for this work goes beyond words. No matter how many times I give it a re-read, there's always something that hooks me to the story and makes me grow with the characters.
My favorite character of this work is Lace because even though her backstory may not be something that's fully relatable to me as a reader but her journey of healing from her trauma is commendable and inspiring. It gives you a strength to look within and not shy away from your own traumatic past. Somehow, the story even gave away the message that if she could take the step to heal then so could you.
Lace gives me strength and a certain warmth whenever I look back to the story. I have also loved the way author has beautifully complimented Azrael's character with Lace. I simply loved them and the family dynamic.
Even after so many re-reads, I do not have any complaints where I could say, I wished author could work on a specific character or a section of the story to make it better.
So, I wish to express my immense gratitude to the author for putting out this work to be read on Wattpad. Thank you for sharing and letting me on one of the best roller-coaster rides as a reader.
Gurl. The ending was a tad underwhelming but I did love it. The realistic character progress from Lace and the incorporation of their instinct was something fresh and new on the scene. I do love how she adopts the kids ( Lander Graham Caden Eli and Nina ) kinda mad how it end with the pregnancy trope… like you have enough kids but whatever. Also mad to how none of the kids fight against Azreal coming into their lives?? But whatever. At first I was made at Gabriella (azreals mum) for very OBVIOUSLY manipulating Lace by giving her the responsibility of the boys just to get her to stay but as long as Lace was aware she had been trapped then I’m ok. She wasn’t completely blindsided Yk? I do like how Lace really reminds m of my girl Vienna❤️❤️ (from queen of tricks) but obviously lace had so much more trauma and the kids keeping her there. Vienna and Casar can’t be beaten though. Sorry. Overall it was a decent book that really strayed from the stereotype and I loved it for that! Certainly got the job done!

My FAVORITE one out of this series. Its exactly how the cover looks. Tough, strong. Its relatable. Not rushed at all, it kept me turning the page quicker and quicker until I reached the end. You'll want to know what happens.
This is definitely one of my favorites so far!! I love how Azrael is patient with Lace and tries his best to understand her and help her through her trauma. And the kids are super cute!!
