I Knew You Were Trouble was such a fun and enjoyable read! If you’re ever looking for a book you can finish in a day, go check out Paige Toon’s novels because I’ve flown through all 16 or so of her books I’ve read so far. This one was no exception and the only thing that really bothered me about the book was the way Jessie handled her relationship with Tom. Then again, she’s only fifteen and you’ve still got a lot to learn at that age.

So all in all, this was a really good book and I’m going to start reading the last part of this series right away!

I have been desperately wanting to get my hands on a copy of this book, from the second I finished The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson and it was definitely worth the wait. In fact my only complaint about this book is that I read it far too fast as I was so absorbed by it, and I fear I will have an even longer wait for book 3 in this fabulous series.

Those of you who read my reviews regularly may have noticed I may be a bit of a Paige Toon fangirl, and having read this my opinions of her have gone up even higher.

I Knew You Were Trouble deals with when Jessie returns to England, and having to go back to school, while knowing she is the daughter of Johnny Jefferson, but trying to act normal, It isn't before long that the press get wind of who she is, and then Jessie's life changes for ever.

We see a lot of Jessie's friendships both with her school friends and new boyfriend Tom, but also the crowd she was hanging around with in Los Angeles last time around. The budding relationship with Tom, is very sweet, and it is clear he really cares about her. It is also good to see Jessie is making new friends at school and that an older friendship is starting to strengthen again.

Although this can be read as a stand alone, I am so glad I had read the first one, as I find with series, the more you read, the better you get to know and love the characters.

This is definitely true of Meg and Johnny. They are adjusting as well to having a new 15 year old daughter in their lives, and there are some lovely scenes between Johnny and Jessie. It is clear that he really loves her and is trying his hardest to be a father figure, and relations between Jessie and Meg seem a lot friendlier this time around.

One of the things I love about this book is that it gives real insight into the crazy life of a teenager of famous parents, although the media frenzy surrounding Jessie was always going to be insane, since she is the "long lost daughter". I think young adults especially that read this, that may be celebrity mad, will stop and think twice if instant celebrity is really what they want, after reading this book, as all Jessie really wants is a normal life, without bodyguards following her everywhere. She starts longing for the very things that the majority of people take for granted - privacy, anonymity, and to be able to decide which boy shes actually in love with!

I Knew You Were Trouble is a fabulous continuation of Jessie Jefferson's story. It is witty, upbeat and entertaining and just perfect to read over the summer holidays. And don't worry about it being a young adult title, older adults will enjoy this too, or at least I know I did. I loved every single second of this book, and read it in a matter of hours, as I couldn't bring myself to put it down.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster Childrens for this review copy. This was my honest review.

This wonderfully cute story is the 2nd instalment in the Jessie Jefferson series.

As usual, I looooved reconnecting with Johnny, Meg and Jessie again. Fab and sassy characters.

So much fun!

Crazily addictive series.

You guys can’t imagine how I felt when this book arrived at my doorstep. I’ve been waiting for it since I’ve finished The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson last year.

Jessie has spent the summer with her “new” dad and rockstar Johnny Jefferson and his family. Now she’s back in England with Stu and her own bodyguard. She goes back to school, where she sees her ex-best friend Libby (who has a new best friend now, Amanda) again and also Tom. Something started between them, but without even a date, she went off for summer. She feels weird seeing him again, but the sparks are there immediately. I loved reading about how everything developed between them and Tom is really cute with her.

At school she meets Lou, she’s new and the two girls get along really well. Jessie takes Lou around and also takes her to parties. At one party she see her friend Natalie again and Tom and his friend Chris are also there, a great bunch of friends, I have to say.

Jessie struggles with being recognized and when someone slips it to the papers, it’s too much for her. When Jessie is a bit reckless and not careful enough, Johnny has enough and takes her back to LA. Jessie struggles at first, but enjoys time with her half-brothers Phoenix and Barney, and also Johnny’s wife Meg. Meg and Jessie get along really well, which made me very happy, I like them both, so I’m glad it turned out to be this way.

LA means seeing Agnes again and also her brother Jack, but Jessie is with Tom. She is really drawn to Jack though and they spend more and more time together. I don’t wanna say more here, but let’s just say Jessie has to figure out who she really loves and then make a decision. And she’s all over the place with that.

What I loved in this story was that Jessie discovered singing, I really enjoyed the scenes where she worked with Johnny and it’s so awesome to see him as her dad. It’s so sweet to see, how their relationship has grown and that Jessie feels more and more at home in LA, not just because of Johnny, but also because of Meg and the boys.

This story is truly magnetic. Jessie is a bubbly character and it’s so awesome to read her perspective, I felt like being in her head! Full of ups and downs, hilarious moments and also sad parts, the perfect mixture and so entertaining. The writing is really gripping, I couldn’t put the book down (only when I really had to), such a FABULOUS read!!!
The ending has left me quite excited of what comes next for Jessie, when Paige?! Tell me, it’s soon… ;)

As soon as I finished book 1, The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson, I immediately dived into this one. Now that Jessie knows just who her father is, and has bonded with him, returning to her old, ordinary life is a difficulty. Though the media and public are aware that Johnny Jefferson has a secret, teenage daughter, they don't know it's Jessie. Soon, however, that information is leaked to the press, and Jessie finds herself back on a plane to LA. Now that she understands the implications of being the daughter of a famous rock star, Jessie has a lot of thinking to do: does she move to LA permanently, or deal with the public scrutiny back at home.

I think I liked both books in the series equally, and am so happy to see that the Jefferson family unit is getting stronger and stronger every second. Meg could've been the stereotypical 'evil-stepmother', but she isn't, and her love for Jessie keeps growing. She honestly treats her the same as she does her biological children, though isn't trying to replace Jessie's late mother, Candy. Barney and Phoenix are just as cute as they were in book 1. What made everything so much better was how Johnny has really matured, and is trying as hard as he can to help Jessie, without being pushy about it. He knows she has an amazing voice, and is helping her train herself through her stage-fright.

On that note, Jessie really comes into her own in this book. I was pleasantly surprised with the majority of the decisions she made in I Knew You Were Trouble, though a few rubbed me the wrong way. Not to go into too much detail, I am really looking forward to seeing how these decisions pan out in book 3, which Toon mentions in her acknowledgements.

Though I've only discovered this series, I have become a quick fan of Toon's writing, and may try her adult books in the future. The Jessie Jefferson series is a wonderful UKYA contemporary series, and one I would recommend to lovers of that genre.

The next instalment of the spin off series about Johnny Jefferson's daughter. I love the choice of title being a Taylor Swift song, just Jessie is more trouble than most of the boys. It's starting to show were some of her traits are coming from. It's also getting impossible to live the best of both worlds.

At the start I'm liking Jessie and were the story is going. I like her in the UK and even in the States with Johnny, Meg and the boys but concerning Jack, I'm totally against what she does to Tom.

Again an enjoyable read but I'm deducting a star for how Jessie treated Tom, Tom was so lovely and he didn't deserve to be cheated on again. There's something that makes me like Jessie more in the UK than the USA and i'm wondering how much I'm going to like her in the next one, I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

Thinking I was dead good and clever I jumped into I Knew You Were Trouble straight after I had finished the first book in the series, The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson. Book Bloggers perks and all that. Why did I do that? Why? WHY? I can't wait over a frigging year for the next instalment. To be continued... can kiss my arse! Oh am fuming with myself here.

Yet again with the excitement, ultimate thrill of the chase, magnetic and charming characters and fantastic plot Paige Toon has shown the YA world that, yes, she is still a newbie, but she's shit hot and they should all be scared.

IKYWT is all about the feels. And, I mean ALL about the feels. One minute you're giggling, the next you're fighting the lump in your throat. One minute you're fuming, the next minute your wide-eyed and excited. You become Jessie in every single one of them moments. You feel the rawness in her heart and in her mind. It's pretty full on like, but pretty awesome too. Watching her relationship with her dad Johnny grow is so heart burstingly beautiful it chokes you up so much. How proud they are of each other. It's so lovely. It's also extremely exciting to watch her play who will it be between boys. To be rally honest with you it does have a bit of heat to it too. Not that that's a bad thing at all. See I told you all about the feels.

Oh I am absolutely hating myself for carrying straight on because I don't want to wait for the next part in the series. I am going to drive Paige and S&S crazy over the next 12 months requesting an arc. I wonder when it's due? As if I'm waiting and writing this when I could be emailing and asking.

In a bit peeps!

Oh and go pre-order this book!

Oh and you can read it as a stand alone all back info is there.

Oh and go buy The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson too.

And, oh god I'm a tit!

I thought this was just gonna be a decent contemporary ya like the first one (tbh I only read the first one so I could read this one since it has the same title as TAYLOR SWIFT'S SONG. Yeah, that's how much I love Tay.)
And yeah, it was fine. Funny and cute. Jessie is annoying half the time (like in the first book) but Agnes and Meg and Johnny and Stu make up for it (and Lou!! She's nice :))
But then
SPOILER ALERT
She cheats on Tom with Jack. And it's like.... Ugh. She knows what happened with Isla and yet??? I never forgive cheaters. Never. Not even in fiction, although I tend to feel just a tad more sympathetic due to the fact that they're not real... but. Never forgiven. And ESPECIALLY in this case because Jessie knew that Tom had been cheated on before and how much it hurt him. She knew yet she couldn't stop???????? Once, and then twice???????????????? I. Hate. Her.
Will not be reading the third book.
It's not even that she cheated, it's that she didn't even feel like she made a mistake in the end??? The moment she got back to L.A, everything was practically okay. DO YOU NOT FEEL REMORSE?????
Ugh.
I don't know if it's just part of the plot to hate her, or if this was very intentional or not, but I cannot endorse any book that skims over the pain of someone who has been cheated on. Tom got one scene. I don't know about any of her other books (about Johnny/Meg and their scandals) but... actually reading this. Just no

I cannot read a Paige Toon book and not give it FIVE STARS. I love her writing so much.
This was another amazing read. I was so busy with work that I forgot this was released, but I ran out and bought it yesterday and started reading it at 9:30 this morning. By 12:45 I was finished. It never takes me very long to read Paige Toon's books. They're so captivating and her characters are always so interesting.

I am really glad that she's writing a YA series, as I love her adult books so much.
Jack...what can I say about him? Can I have him? WHY IS HE FICTIONAL?!
I feel a tad sorry for Tom, and I really hope that we don't have issues with him in the next book.
I know things will not be smooth sailing for Jack and Jessie, but a girl can hope right?

CAN IT BE 2016 ALREADY?!

Paige Toon delivers another stunning, thrilling YA novel that will knock your socks off with the glitz and glamour of being an “It” girl and the sweetest romance I’ve ever read in a while. Follow Jessie’s journey of discovering where her heart truly lies, whether it’s the place where she has everything she ever needs or the boy who makes her life complete. With a searing hot romance, I Knew You Were Trouble is fun, flirty and deliciously addictive.

This is the second book in the young adult series from one of my favourite authors Paige Toon and let me tell you I am keeping my fingers crossed that she has another foray into the world of Young Adult romance again soon because I love this series so much.

When you know you are dealing with the second book in a series you do sometimes worry that you are in for a bit of a slump in the action, that you are being set up from the culmination of the trilogy in book 3 but this really wasn't the case in this novel. This book has action from the very beginning to the very end. Jessie is up to as much in this book as we saw her get up to in book one only this time she is very definitely doing it across 2 continents.

This book has also ramped up the romance, can you say love triangle? I loved this added intrigue because a love triangle in 2 different countries is a whole different kettle of fish, This triangle really explores the fact that Jessie's may be the daughter of a rich and famous rockstar but aside from having just lost her mum she is also dealing with first love and the confusion that that can bring. Jessie really does have to deal with a lot in this book she has all of that plus the possibility of singing and school work and a whole new family-wow there really is a lot in this book.

Safe to say this book does not fall into the second book in a series trap. It has a definite story arc of its own, things really ramp up from Jessie and if you are here because you fell in love with Johnny Jefferson in Johnny and Meg’s stories then there is a decent dose of him too-I loved it and can’t wait to dive into book 3!

I’m a massive fan of Paige Toon’s writing, both her adult and her young adult books. I just love how all of her characters exist in the same sort of ‘world’. I love the connections and random mentions of other characters. It’s always seamless, and makes me feel like I know the characters. So, I was very much looking forward to reading the next book in the Jessie Jefferson series which is Paige’s young adult series.

This book can definitely be read as a stand alone, but I personally thing it’s a much richer reading experience if you’re familiar with Jessie and her background. It just enhances the book! I will say though, that this is an exciting addition to the first book, following Jessie who I think is an amazing character and her famous Dad Johnny Jefferson, who is one of my favourite male characters ever. (Seriously, if you’re into chick-lit please read Johnny Be Good)

Jessie’s life changes when it is made public who she actually is. I Knew You Were Trouble deals with Jessie finding out who her real friends are and working through a long distance relationship when temptation comes her way. This book certainly gives you an insight into how crazy it must be to have famous parents and never really be free to do your own thing. I loved Jessie’s interactions with her dad, and his dad’s wife Meg.

This book is such a fun summer read. It’s easy to devour, well written, ridiculous in parts but ever so entertaining!

I knew you were trouble picks up right after Jessie arrives home. The summer holiday is over, and her daily life as a secret daughter of a famous rock star really begins. Who will she be able to trust her secret, and who should she trust her heart?

The Jessie Jefferson series has fast become an addiction for me. I LOVE Jessie. I love her tough and strong personality, and her very loving and caring sensitive side she shows with her new family. I love how she is with her brothers, and cry with her when she miss her mom. I was really a mess reading the pages where she break down, and grieves her mom´s dead. It was so strong and intense written, that I´m still tearing up just thinking about it.

And the boys has completely stolen my heart!
Tom is such a sweetheart! I was literally blushing when he entered the pages! Flirting in the school halls is so sweet to read about, and I just loved the anticipation, and chanted ”kiss her, kiss her” in my head the whole time.
But I also have to admit that upcoming rockstar Jack is messing with my feelings too. That boy gives me lots and lots of feelings, and it´s no wonder Jessie doesn't know her own head, when she´s with him.

There was tension – of the flirty and even of the life dangerous kind – and the pages just flew by. It was so good.

I'm anxiously anticipating the last book!

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Children’s UK for an advance copy of this title. You know when you meet someone who seems almost relentlessly cheerful, and it’s always fun to see them (for a short amount of time), but you wonder if they have any depth or complexity? If this new book by Paige Toon were a person, they would fall into that category. And that’s not a bad thing, sometimes we need a bit of cheerfulness. This is the follow up to The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson. Read my full review here: http://www.poweredbyreading.com/i-kne...

Read other books by this author in the future: yes

Jessie ist back in the UK. Her trip was cut short because Johnnys Dad had an heart attack and the whole family flies back to England. Jessie is back in school acting more mature than before. A lot of changes happen: her friend Nathalie is no longer in her school but in college, so is Tom. He is taking an interest in Jessie. She also tries to reestablish her friendship with Libby, but Libby moved to Amanda, who is a bitch to Jessie. And so she becomes friends with the new girl Lou. Life is good and she also has a better relationship with Stu. But then she is caught by the Paparazzi when she is out dining with her Grandfather and Johnny’s family. But still nobody knows her identity until she is betrayed and someone rats her out.
After a kidnapping attempt Johnny and Stu decide to send her to LA.

I liked the second book much better than the first one. Jessie is a more mature and better person. And the relationship with her new family grows a lot. She loves her cute little brothers and they love her. This book really entertaining.

nostalgia value is there but it still holds up! the protagonist was very wishy washy and conflicted about the two boys and her life, so this felt more like a transitional sorta part of the series, although the drama is still good!

*Paige Toon is such a fantastic writer and I devour her books when they come out, always such a delight to read!*

I was super excited when Paige announced this new book coming out and was happy that I was able to get a review copy on Netgalley thanks to Simon & Schuster.

The Johnny stories have been and are always my favourites. This book follows on from the first of the Jessie series (Johnny’s daughter) called The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson. In this one Jessie seems to have matured a little as a character especially now she has two younger brothers (Barney and Phoenix)~ that look up to her, she seems to have also settled in well with Johnny and Meg. The whole Jessie series is quite new to me as well as this one is told from the perspective of a teenager rather than an adult character as with Paige’s previous series of books. But Paige has written all her books so well that I could not be more happier with her work and I’m already looking forward to the next one.

*SPOILERS BELOW*

In this book, the prologue opens with a very scary situation where Jessie is targeted by kidnappers, this will get you gripping the book tightly as Sam gets hurt in the process of preventing the kidnappers from succeeding in their plot. Following this, it explains why this happened (it goes back to six weeks before the kidnapping attempt) and I just feel for Jessie as one of her friends let her down and was not able to keep Jessie’s secret to herself.

I also love how Jessie and Johnny’s relationship progresses so fast even though Johnny suddenly has a teenage daughter to take care of (and he is probably just learning how to be a parent to a teenager as he goes along). It was nice to read that Johnny and Jessie are sharing memories of Candy (Jessie’s mother) and I found myself having an “Awwwww” moment when Johnny asked to see Jessie’s & Candy’s photos as he’d already missed so much of Jessie’s life.

Further on in the book, Jessie also appears to possess so much of Johnny’s qualities like his musical talent and has the potential to go far. And it was nice to know that all the people that love Jessie are supporting her when it comes to her singing. She seems to be really shy but Johnny sure helps with that and brings her out of her shell, eventually she goes on to sing in public at a live show and she nails it! Hopefully there will be a bigger future for her in Paige’s future books.

Like with all of Paige’s books, there is also love interests. In the case of Jessie, she is torn between Tom (from high school back in England) and Jack (teen rock star and member of the back Jessie sings for, All Hype). I do hope that with the choice she’s made by the end of this book, that she will not get hurt. I also wonder how her other friends back in England will fit into her life now that she has chosen to move to LA permanently, hopefully there will be appearances from them in future Jessie books.

It seems to me she seems very much like a worry-free teenage girl when she is over in LA and that hopefully that her life there will be a much happier one as back in England she misses her mum terribly. Life in LA for Jessie will hold so many possibilities for her and a ton of fantastic future stories from Paige about this character would be something I’d quite happily read.

Looking forward to your next one Paige!

Kami

I Knew You Were Trouble Review on K-Books

Paige Toon is without a doubt one of my all time favourite authors. I absolutely love her and I've been on such a Paige Toon binge read lately. I devoured all of her adult books that I had left to read and finally turned onto her YA series. Ever since I first heard about this series I was so excited but decided to wait until it was complete so I could binge read it. And I am so, so glad that I did. I Knew You Were Trouble was just as addicting as the first novel in the series and I couldn't put it down.

Jessie has had the time of her life over the summer with her rockstar dad in LA. But now she is back in England and back to school and nobody knows who she really is. But as the press start to get closer to discovering the identify of Johnny Jefferson's daughter Jessie has to decide who she is and what she wants.

Jessie was so great to read about and follow through this novel. She has gone on such a journey since hte beginning of the first book. She has gone from wild child who is coping with her mothers death to a mature and wonderful young woman. I loved reading about her and I loved seeing what she was going through. Once again we have the love triangle of Jessie, hottest-guy-in-school Tom and gorgeous rockstar Jack. I like Tom enough he is a super sweet guy and I did love the parts with him and Jessie but man he has nothing on Jack. Jack is just awsome and perfect and his and Jessie's relationship kind of reminded my of the early days of Johnny and Meg's relationship and I freaking love Johnny and Meg. They are awesome.

I Knew You Were Trouble was a stunning and amazing instalment in the Jessie Jefferson series and I loved every moment of it. I couldn't put it down. Paige Toon once again knocked my socks off and made me fall in love with all of her characters. If you're looking for a new series to fall in love with I highly recommend this one. I cannot wait to find out how it all ends in the next book.

If you know me well, whether in person or online, you'll know that I'm a huge Paige Toon fan, and that my favourite out of her books are the Johnny Jefferson novels: Johnny Be Good, Baby Be Mine, Johnny's Girl, The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson, and now I Knew You Were Trouble.

I pre-ordered I Knew You Were Trouble on Amazon pretty much as soon as it became available to, and when the cover art was previewed a few weeks later I fell in love with it completely.

The book was an amazing read, and a great catch up with some long-lost characters! Meg seems to be taking Jessie's arrival into their life better than before, and seeing Johnny in overprotective-dad mode is a novel. Bee and Phee (those names do actually stick!) are such cuties, and I love how they've already taken to Jessie as their big sis.

As a YA novel, Paige covers many teen issues: family expectations, rebellion, sex, alcohol and friendship, as well as adapting to change. The romance in IKYWT continues on from TALoJJ, and it's not just a story-book romance, it's highly relatable and had me reminiscing about my high-school days: note passing, the crushes, watching the boys play football on the field at lunch-time! It works so well as a young-adult read and I'm so proud to watch Paige progress as a writer and see how she's really hit it off with younger readers.

Despite Jack's bad-boy charm, like the one that had me fall for Johnny so bad, I'm 100% team Tom. I think it's his school-boy charm, which kind of reminds me of Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging film!
I can't wait for part three of the Jessie Jefferson series, I just don't know how I'm going to cope with the wait though!

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Firstly I would like to say thank you to Maximum Pop for providing me with a copy of this book for review. I adore Paige's writing so when I saw that there was a chance to review this book I had to put my name down.

I have followed Johnny Jefferson's story since his first book Johnny Be Good. I loved both Johnny Be Good and Baby Be Mine. I also enjoyed Johnny's girl so when Paige first announced she was going to be doing a YA series based on a 15 year old daughter that Johnny didn't know he had I knew I just had to read it.

I read the Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson in a matter of days. I had a similar experience with I Knew You Were Trouble. Paige has a way of sucking you in so that you can't bear to stop reading even just for a minute and your always looking for an opportunity to get stuck back into their world.

This book picks up right where the last one ended and Jessie is just about to return to school after her summer with the Jeffersons. She's still keeping her identity a secret and is hoping that for now she can carry on with a normal life.

I don't want to give too much away but suffice to say Jessie's life is anything but boring and easy.

This story has a fun energetic vibe that I just adore. You can feel Jessie's personality dripping in every scene. I can't wait to read more about Jessie's life.
