I just love a story where the female is bold, sassy, and isn't afraid to say what she thinks and feels. Lia is just that type of character in this amazing book. Lia has an idea of what it must be like to be heir to billions and she makes her thoughts known to Travis the first time she meets him. After Travis wins a date with her in an Auction that she had no clue that she was the prize for, she's afraid it could be revenge. One date becomes three and things get pretty hot between them at each of the dates. Both Travis and lia learn a lot about both themselves, as well as each other and things don't quite end like you'd think between these two. I'm excited to say that this book kept me entranced from the very beginning and kept me on my toes waiting with bated breath to find out what would come of these two. Thank you Starla for allowing me to voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and I'm happy to leave this review seeing as it's quickly become one of my favorite books.

It's a great book if you are in the mood for a short read that you want to spend the day on your couch with a cup of hot chocolate and roaring fire near by. The story is believable. The characters are not complicated, nor angry at the world. The story has elements of Cinderella in it. The reasons I gave it 4 stars, was the lack of mention of unprotected sex on the author's part and the ending. I felt it was abrupt. To me, the signs of a great book is wanting to know what happens to them in the future. I felt at the end of the book, that the story is done. I was given an ARC of the book in exchange for a honest review. This is my first time reading this author. I think she does show promise.

I was given this book for my honest review.

This is the first time I have read anything by this new author and let me say this book is short of amazing. Throughout the book, I wanted to scream in so many places that this author kept me in the right sense in this book.
The characters at times I found to be a little dry kind of like a warm summers day when the breeze comes in and just sits in the moment. The characters eventually clicked as they did in the beginning of the book but at the same time a portion was missing.

Overall an amazing book.

Major kudos and I look forward to reading more of this author in the future.

I don't give anything away in my reviews so lets just say HOT.

Happy Reading

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This is the first book of Ms Harris that I have read and I must say I really enjoyed it. I look forward to more of her books. Lia and Travis were such great characters. They had wonderful chemistry. Lia runs a theater and Travis is the son of its biggest donor. He has been wanting to meet Lia ever since he met her a month ago at gallery showing. He has been keeping his eye on her and can't quite figure out what it is about her that draws him to her. He goes to the auction her theater his holding to raise money and makes sure he is the highest bedder to win a date with her. The story takes off from there. This was a fast read and I loved it. Loved the HEA.

Lia Malcolm has opened a small theater company and they are struggling to pay the bills. At a fundraiser her assistant puts a date with Lia up for auction and she's "won" by wealthy playboy Travis Paulson. Lia has a huge chip on her shoulder against wealthy people, which is surprising since she depends on them to keep her theater afloat. She is so rude and antagonistic towards Travis, but he takes it since it's a change from people sucking up to him for his money. This book had me rolling my eyes all the way through it - although Lia can't stand Travis, she still sleeps with him. What? And he keeps putting up with her nastiness, which made me lose respect for him.

At first I was annoyed with Lia because she had so many prejudice against Travis.
But as usual you should not make your opinion based on what you have heard or what you think.
This book is so amazing and well written. I loved the storyline and the twists.
It feels so realistic that it could take place everywhere.
It contains humor, fun, hot scenes, trouble solving and what a well written good book has to have.
Really worth reading!

Great read

I loved this book. Starla Harris is a semi new author to me so I didn't know what to expect. I enjoyed the book it didn't move too fast and it wasn't drawn out it was a perfect combination. I loved the characters but now I'm curious about the sister. I want to know everything what happened to her? And now that the dad is so understanding will she be welcomed back in the family? I just have to know. Hopefully there is a book about her.

The Auction by Starla Harris
It was the night of the fundraiser and Lia and Maggie were stand off stage. Lia is told by Maggie that all that is left is the auction for one date with Lia. Lia is surprised but goes along with it, anything to help Pages Theater out. One date goes for fifty thousand dollars, but could Maggie make it three dates for one hundred and fifty thousand dollars? I really loved this story. It was funny and it made me cry. It was hard to put down and I didn't want to.

The Auction: The Billionaire Wins a Date

This is my first book by Starla Harris. I really enjoyed her story about Lia and Travis. He is a billionaire who is a playboy and she runs a Playhouse that puts on Classical Plays. In order to keep their play house running they put on an Auction with the winner getting a date with Lia. Travis bids 50,000 dollars for her.

A sexy billionaire playboy.
A sassy theater manager.
A struggling theatre company.
An auction to raise money.

Good story line idea, good characters but just missing a little something. I however enjoyed the story all the same. A little fast on the feelings and OT seemed kinda of rushed.

An enjoyable read

I liked this story. I liked how Travis circled round Lia when he sensed he was too much for her and I liked Lia's sass towards Travis - she wasn't ever going to let his money be an influence. Good story.

The Auction is a wonderfully thought-provoking and incredibly breathtaking story of finding an incomprehensible yet irresistible love and learning how to accept and cherish it. This is the type of story that lingers with you long after it’s last words have past your lips. Your heart can’t help but hold onto the beauty and the possibility that it stirs within every part of your soul. No one is ever who they seem to be, and yet figuring out who they really are is truly half the enjoyment of the mysterious and exciting journey called love. Whatever you do, allow yourself to dig a little deeper, extend a tiny bit more patience, and view them through a little longer through the eyes of grace because you never know what you will find.

Lia has her life all mapped out. She know what she wants, and she has worked very hard to get to where she is. She lives a simple yet satisfying life, and she doesn’t need anything to complicate it. When she finds herself inadvertently entangled with a man she both abhors and is intrigued by in order to keep her beloved Theater running, she isn’t prepared for what happens in the least. Can Travis show her that there is so much more to him then what he shows everyone else, or will Lia find herself running in fear of her losing her heart and so much more?

I was completely blown away by the pleasantly smart and original storyline. It held me in awe as I watched the amazing characters grow and discover that there is more to life then what they have allowed themselves to think and feel so far. Love doesn’t make one weak. In fact, it makes us stronger since we have another to share the hardships and joys of life. It is living life to its fullest, growing and opening ourselves to become who we were always mean to be, and allowing our happiness to spread to those around us who need that extra nudge of courage. This is a fantastic debut, and I can’t wait to read more this outstanding author!

Starla Harris has taken my heart by storm and enthralled all of my senses with her marvelous story! I have found a new favorite author. I implore you to check into this new author and see what she has to offer. You may find yourself as entranced as I am by her incredible talent and huge potential.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I look forward to reading more by her.
This is a a fast sweet romance read with a theme many of us can relate to. No not the meeting a billionaire part but rather the being judged because of our status in life part.
Lia grew up extremely poor. Her parents scraped by to make sure their children had what they needed. From this upbringing Lia worked for everything she had and was proud that her accomplishment were made by her own sweat and determination.
Travis was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, or rather a gold spoon. He wanted for nothing and as he put it people either wanted his money or wanted what his money could do for them. He had no problem utilizing his parent' money to get what he wanted and he thought he was happy.
Lia immediately dislikes Travis because of his money and makes assumptions based on his status in life. When the auction throws them together both sides begin to see that things aren't always what they appear.
Travis learns that Lia isn't just playing hard to get and being standoffish because she is trying to attract him. Lia understands that while Travis has never wanted it also had to give up a piece of himself to live the life his father wants. His obligations are to his family. Lia's obligations are to herself.
This is a sweat romance with two people discovering that people don't fit into our definition of them and sometimes we need to be open minded about others.

This was my first book read from this author. I gave it 5 stars because it did touch on how people are viewed based on their wealth and I liked the love story that developed from it.

Lia grew up dirt poor but really didn't know because her parents keep that from her and her brother. Upon seeing her parents crying one day after school she realized that anything she accomplished in life it would be because she worked hard for it. Because of this mindset she looked at people who had wealth because of their parents as nothing but spoiled. She needs to keep her theater running so her team throw a fundraiser event. When she's about to go on stage to announce who one the auction, she learns that she is what was auctioned off.

Travis Paulson, a billionaire's son, wins the date with Lia from the fundraiser event held by her theater, Pages, to try and keep them afloat for a few more months. He wants to know more about Lia, especially after she put him in his place at her friend Julian's art show. What better way to do that than by going on a date. These two go on a journey learning that there is much more to a person than the status of their wallets.

It's a short book but it touches all the points in the story it was trying to make. I can actually see there being a part two to their story. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I received a free ARC for an honest review, and I really enjoyed it. At first I thought I wasn't going to like the character of Lia, because she's grown up to be conservative, independent, but some qualities in her that make her different from any other woman out there, because Travis, billionaire, wants to really get to know her.

Now Lia and Maggie, best friend, own a theater called Pages, but it is not doing good, and so to have an Auction, the highest bidder will have a date with Lia. Well Travis was the highest Bidder, and he would do it all over again if he wanted too because he loved Lia's character. There date went awesome, and to save the theater her friend suggested 2 more dates, and Travis agreed for higher bid.

Just to say, all has gone well first 2 dates, 3rd date, Lia cannot go through with it feels she was bought, but that is not the way Travis feels, he has feelings for her, and shows up after there 3rd date didn't happen. Well I can't tell you more, you'd have to read the book, great story, well written, first time reading from this author, and had the opportunity to review her book, and I honestly loved the writing and the story, I'd wish there would be more written about Lia and Travis!! Thanks Starla!!! received an advanced reader copy and I loved it!!!

***I voluntarily read this ARC to give an honest review*** Lia Malcolm and her friend Maggie were the heads of a repertory company by the name of Pages. They performed classical plays in a revolutionary way. The company is in dire need of funds, so Maggie has come up with the idea of having a fundraising auction. Just as Lia is about to announce the winner of the auction, Maggie informs her that the winner's prize, is a date with Lia. They are both surprised when the winning bid is for $50,000. As the winner stands, Lia believes she knows him, then when he takes the mic and says his name she remembers him. He's the billionaire she had met at an art show and he offended her and she dressed him down and left. They start out with one date, but the landlord raises the rent to the theater and Maggie comes up with a scheme to get more funds from Travis and extends the deal to three dates. Lia is not enthused with the plan it makes her feel like a whore, The storyline is very good and the writing is too. A good read

I didn't know what to expect reading this story, I was given an arc for an honest review. I Loved It!
Travis Paulson was known as a billionaire playboy who like to Party.. he was the heir to Paulson Technology, the richest tech company around. Lia and her friend Maggie started Pages a theater company. They were in need of money to continue their dream. Decided to have a fundraiser, but what Lia didn't know was that she was being auctioned off for a date. Funny how that happens... anyway as you probably guessed, she was bought by Travis. They were to go on three dates. The problem was Lia hates people who flashed their wealth and did earn their own way. Which was actually what she thought of Travis until she got to know him. Travis had a degree in architecture, but chose family loyalty instead to run family business. Well so you will still have a reason to read this story, I won't tell you how it ended, but will tell you love was in the air. Loved it!

I voluntary received an advance copy for an honest review.

If your looking for a quick, fast paced sexy read with a man that knows what he wants and goes after it no matter what and a strong woman that doesn't take crap for nothing then look no further.

Being auctioned off for a date to save the beloved Pages theater is one thing but when you find out the person is the one hot guy that you just can't stand is a lot to take. Lia doesn't know what to do when she find out that Travis is the one that won the auction. She thinks that this alpha male is the ultimate player and doesn't want to be another notch on his bed post. Travis is in awe of the talented lady and goes overboard to show that he is more than a rich entitled guy. The chemistry is there and it's hard not to see where it leads to.

A control freak learns to give control for matters of the heart...
I received an advanced reader's copy of "Auction" and my review is voluntary.
Lia... a proud, strong headed, independent young woman who has relied on her own strengths her entire life, finds herself auctioned off at a fundraiser to save her theatre to Travis... a cocky, flirty yet Ooooooh so handsome billionaire who's had everything given to him openhandedly. Lia's first instinct was to hate and judge Travis for his privileged background... but as they cash in their dates feelings begin to shift blurring the lines. A sweet romance which teaches us to open our hearts and allow others to walk in and take some control. 4 Swooning Stars for "Auction"... a very well written, emotional debut novel by Starla Harris.

Sweet & Hot

This is my first book by this author and will definitely add her to my list.

Not your usual billionaire story this is highly recommended.
BIllionaire Travis who is use to having women falling all over him.
Lia is an art director of a small playhouse called Pages.

Travis meets Lia at an art gallery. He and his friends were being obnoxious so Lia goes and calls him out on his rich boy stuffed
He was intrigued by her needless to say ...what happens next is that the small theater Pages was running out of money so they decide to hold an auction little did Lia that she was the prize for one date. Travis out bid everyone for a date with the women who basically told him off.
Will they stay together or is there so a big social gap that it won't work.

Although this story is quite predictable, it is still a sweet and romantic story about two people who must learn to understand the differences in the worlds in which they belong. Yet within the difference is a connection and a desire that pulls these two together and opens their eyes to the realities that each face and the strength they can find in not only themselves but in the relationship and support they each offer the other. Both Lia and Travis bring a depth to the story and their banter and interactions allow readers to quickly and easily fall for the two.

A quick read that is worth the time. Congratulations Starla Harris on a great debut novel.

A Whole New World
When Billionaire, Travis Paulson Meets Lia Malcolm, he becomes very intrigued by her. For once a beautiful woman isn't falling all over herself and throwing herself at him. If anything, it's the opposite.
At the Theater’s Fundraiser action, Lia finds out at the last minute that she’s the prize, or at least one date with her is, and winner of the date is Travis Paulson.
In this well written book you have two worlds or class or people collide and the sparks are spectacular. Well written and very entertaining story to read.
