No. Just no. As a woman and a professional matchmaker, I can’t let Dylan Parker run this ad. He’s the catch of all catches. That’s why his sister has asked me to help her ridiculously good-looking, insanely rich, but socially clueless brother find a woman. As a broker of happily ever afters, I’m known as the Stud Finder since I make a great living pairing wildly successful women with men who won’t fleece them but will adore them. After all, what woman in her right mind wouldn’t fall in love with Dylan?

I mean, besides me. It totally won’t be me.

This book is so adorable! It’s the kind of story that will make you grin and fan yourself because of the heat, pretty much like when you eat a delicious taco with the spicy salsa. Yum.

It's impossible not to approve, Mr. Darcy.

A matchmaker extraordinaire and a smart but socially clueless tech multimillionaire walk into a boba tea shop called Quickie, and it’s not a joke. When Evie “Stud Finder” Milligan’s good friend shows her the dating ad her brother posted online, Evie knows it in her heart that she has to help the nerdy hot tech mogul and prove to him she can find his perfect match better than his most trusted worldwide web can.

Dylan Parker is so sure he’ll find his future wife once he posts the ad he wrote himself, but when he receives nothing but questionable proposals from countless women (and men), he gives into his sister’s suggestion to enlist the help of her friend. When he and Evie start working on Dylan to figure out his perfect match, Dylan realizes that Evie isn’t so different from him after all. But how can he convince his matchmaker that the one he wants to be matched with is her?

This novella has a fresh yet familiar writing style that I love and can't get enough of. With Lauren Blakely's signature humor, Stud Finder is a fun, playful read that is seeping with sexual tension and a strong connection between two extremely lovable characters.

I adored both characters, but I have a special place in my heart for Dylan, a man I think is different from the other heroes in the Big Rock world. He’s not as smooth when it comes to dating, but his efforts to win over Evie in his own way made me swoon so much.

It was a delight to read about their non-dates, the ease in their banter, and the palpable chemistry between Evie and Dylan. I had a perma-grin on my face as I read this story, I swear.

And that ending. ❤️❤️❤️ especially the last few paragraphs. Ahhhhh. That’s all I’m going to say. So sweet.

If you’re looking for a quick but incredibly satisfying read that will make you giggle and smile and feel butterflies all over, I recommend reading Stud Finder by Lauren Blakely. If you haven’t read any of her books yet and would like to dip your toes in LB’s writing style, I think this would be a lovely book to start.

And I’m sure Lauren Blakely fans will have a hoot reading this and trying to find the connection between the Stud Finder characters and the rest of the Big Rock world characters.

Now, I'm off to wallow in my cave as I wait for Mia and Patrick's story!

Stud Finder (novella) by Lauren Blakely ~ 4.5 Stars

Dylan is handsome, rich and successful but socially clueless. He is ready to find the woman of his dreams so he decides to run a dating ad. Evie is Dylan’s sisters BFF and a professional match-maker. She helps countless women find their princes and happily ever after. When Evie gets wind of Dylan’s dating add: “Man seeking woman: Hot, rich, smart, witty, self-made multimillionaire Internet genius seeks classy, intelligent, sexy, fun-loving woman who’s interested in settling down and sharing all the good things.” Evie is not having it - she is determined to use her skills and talents to find the right woman for Dylan. But in order to match Dylan with the right person, Evie has to get to know him better right? Find out his likes, dislikes, what makes him tick … so Evie and Dylan go on several fake dates to practice. Friendship grows, matchmaker/client relationship line blurs … chemistry sizzling … what happens when the match-maker falls for her client?

This is a novella – quick, entertaining read. Sexy, sweet, flirty, funny with adorable nerdy hero and quirky heroine. I have a smile on my face the whole time. Loved it!

I love novellas and I love when Lauren Blakely writes them. I want this to be a long review, but why do you need a ton of words when I can sum it up in five points?

1. Hot nerd, tech guy with a great @ss (That's what she said) and brains.
2. Strong, woman with a knack for matchmaking who has beauty, brains and likes to suck balls (Again I didn't say it...)
3. Shout outs from my favorite characters and cameos. I love the fact that Blakely can remind us of the characters we love and know. It's like a family reunion or a version of seven degrees to Kevin Bacon, without Kevin Bacon.
4. If you love Nick Hammer, then you'll definitely add Dylan to your #bookboyfriendlist I just call him #NickJr
5. This book is a fun, quick, flirty read that makes your heart melt and your lady bits tingle.

5 Make Me a Match CROWNS

Novella's are often hard books for me to read, because I often feel that they are underdeveloped or too angst driven for a shorter romance. Lauren Blakely, however, has hit the sweet spot, combining the right balance of steam, chemistry and angst for a perfect romantic match and another must read.

I love a hot nerd, and, boy, oh boy, does Ms. Blakely deliver the goods with Dylan. More than this sexy nerd, readers also get a confident, self-assured man who oozes charm and charisma. I was drawn to his character immediately and could see how Evie could fall for him too. His sense of adventure and his views on what is important in a partner only add to his allure, putting him on the long list of Lauren Blakely heroes I absolutely adore.

Evie is an interesting heroine for me. Often, I find Lauren Blakely to write these sassy and forthright heroines, and Evie is a bit of a departure from the expectation. But guess what? I really enjoyed her character. Her quirky mind and her passion for her career make her endearing, and I love her devotion to finding love, real romance for her clients. It makes the reader want her to find the same, to be matched with her perfect partner.

Stud Finder has absolutely perfect pacing. Even though it is a novella, I truly felt as though Lauren Blakely allows readers to get to know these characters, to appreciate them as individuals before we yearn for them to be more. The development of the chemistry between them lends to the authenticity of their relationship, and the build up only adds to the enjoyment of the story. In true Lauren Blakely fashion, the intimate moments are so steamy, but Dylan and Evie had a sweetness to their intimacy that spoke of a real connection, something more than lust. Absolutely every aspect of her storytelling is spot on!

I also really enjoyed the narrative voice she used to tell this story. The narrator Fairytale opening, interlude, and conclusion are amazing. The tone it set for this novella and how it added a Fairytale-esque quality to Dylan and Evie's romance only added to the long list of reasons I adored this story.

Sweet. Sexy. Absolutely PERFECT! Stud Finder is the quintessential romance. Lauren Blakely has given readers everything we want: unique and lovable characters, sweet and alluring romance, and storytelling that ensnares readers from page one. She has, yet again, crafted another must read love story!

Why have I never read any of the 1001 Dark Night Series Books before? What's wrong with me? These are amazing! STUD FINDER by Lauren Blakely just completely satisfied me for a quick, fabulous afternoon read.

Having read mostly full novels by Blakely, this was her first Novella for me. I'm happy to report that despite having the length to her disadvantage, she was able to construct a fully detailed, fast-paced, character rich story and I just loved it. Blakely never lets me down-she's always there to take you on a wild ride!

The slow burn, the adorable way Evie and Dylan melt your hearts, the swoon worthy pillow-talk and the EXPLOSIVE chemistry is worth every page. I wouldn't put this book down for a moment; I even had it with me while I was making dinner!

Highly entertaining, super witty and perfectly written!

What can I say? I can never go wrong with a Lauren Blakely book and Stud Finder is just simply great fun. Once again, I was caught up in the author's impeccable wit that is perfectly matched with a sexy pairing between a high-tech genius and the matchmaker. Evie can't help but fall for her latest client and Dylan finds himself surprisingly attracted to the woman who is supposed to find his perfect match.

Be prepared for incredibly smart banter as they do the unthinkable and realize they are the ones who should be together. Well-written characters who only have each other's best interests at heart, Evie and Dylan found a place in the crowded heart that is my own, already overflowing with all kinds of Blakely goodness! And as usual, there are the superb secondary characters who will or have already gotten the Blakely treatment in a love story of their own. In the end, it's the ongoing respect I adore that is evident among friends, siblings and co-workers that make these stories stand out for me.

A solid 5 stars once more!

Stud Finder by Lauren Blakely

Ahh!!! I love me a hot, sexy, nerdy hero and that's exactly what we get with Dylan. He's ready to find his Mrs Right and for a computer geek, what better way is there to find one than putting a personal ad online? The only problem is that his ad attracts ALL the women and gets matchmaker Evie worked-up and determined to step in and help him secure his perfect girl. The moment they start spending time together, you can all but feel the chemistry between them and though they try to reign it all in, the feelings can't be helped!

Dylan is just perfect: he's super smart, he's completely charming, and his particular brand of geekiness was beyond adorable. Evie is just as smart and confident in herself and her abilities; she knows who she is and she owns it. They're such a perfect couple and you can't help but love them and the natural progression of their relationship. I loved getting little mentions of previous characters and I loved loved loved the ending!

Stud Finder is a quickie that was jam-packed with fun and sexiness and all the swoon we know Blakely is capable of. This little gem is a perfect addition to the 1001 Dark Nights collection.

4 'Getting matched' Stars!

The perfect quick read for a weekday afternoon, of course, this was another winner by Lauren Blakely! I love what she is able to present to her readers in such a short format: great profound characters, an entertaining storyline and a couple that melts you with their sweetness!

Stud Finder is a 1001 Dark Nights standalone novella but it can be considered part of Lauren's Big Rock world. It tells the love story between a hot nerdy businessman (Dylan) looking for the love of his life and a sassy matchmaker (Evie) that is decided to not fall in love with her newest client. Let's just say both of them fail miserably on that!

The women all sound great. I bet they’re fantastic ladies.
But I don’t want to date them.
What I want to do is convince Evie to date me.

This short story was pure sweetness! Evie and Dylan start as matchmaker and client but everything starts to blur when they start REALLY liking each other. The connection between these two is amazing from their very first meeting and it gets even better when both accept their feelings for each other (that sweetness gets hot too!!). I really enjoyed reading Stud Finder!

Somehow, some way, this handsome pain-in-the-butt man has worked his way into my heart.

“I want you to match me with you.”

Therefore, I am rating this short story with 4 STARS because it was a quick read that provided everything I love in romance novellas and in Lauren's style.. even better! Lauren Blakely never fails me. Check this one out if you love her other stories!

4.5 Yummy, Delicious Blakely Stars
* * * *Spoiler Free
Oh, Lauren Blakely.... You have such a way with leading us on a journey and then giving us a bit more...With this novella, Stud Finder, you gave us a taste of why so many are loving the most recent set of books you have done... books which are related yet all individual so they can be read as a stand alone.

I am relatively new to the Phenom which is the 1001 Dark Nights. M.J. Rose and Liz Berry are the co-creators of 1,001 Dark Nights and it is a project designed to introduce fans to fabulous authors they might not have read before. It is a genius idea because each author takes whatever idea or series, gives their dedicated fan base a little more of what they love...while also introducing newbies to them as well. The overall concept is the 1001 nights... meaning a tale which will save the teller because it is so intriguing...Each author takes that idea and runs with it...

In Stud Finder, Lauren Blakely works her subtle magic...
she has a matchmaker with a girlfriend who has a brother who is a genius when it comes to tech... but at loss when it comes to the real world sometimes... and him thinking doing an internet ad will find him a perfect match. Our Matchmaker has been driven to make her business a success...forgetting to look out for herself in the matters of love.

Sounds like a simple enough premise, right...

But with all the smart, sweet crafting of this tale...there are layers to peel away. As I said...

Yummy, Delicious Blakely....Perfect for an afternoon read.

And Bonus Points, all of the characters are intertwined with the group from the standalone rom-coms like Big Rock, Mister O and the Sexy One.

~~~~~ Before Reading ~~~~~
There is no end to the fun Lauren Blakely wants to share...
Once again she has taken a Gem of an Idea....
Paired it with the perfect venue...
1001 Dark Nights...
And Poof!
We have a Matchmaker for the Accomplished Woman...
And one Perfect Socially, Clueless Internet Genius....
Task- Find him the Right Woman...
And not fall for him yourself..
Lauren Blakely once again charms her readers with Stud Finder. In this fast paced and utterly entertaining novella, Blakely serves up a love story that was smart, funny, sweet, and sassy. With her signature writing, she has readers like myself hooked right off the opening pages and how could you not when she introduces readers to Dylan Parker, a highly successful multi millionaire tech nerd looking for Ms. Right.
After a failed attempt at an ad looking for a woman, Dylan’s sister suggest that he try the matchmaking service she had used that is owned by her friend, Evie. Right away, Blakely sets up a charming love story of what else: A man in need of matchmaking and a woman who is a professional matchmaker. So as Dylan and Evie begin to spend more time together, it was bound for their friends to see that these two belong together as they are very compatible with one another. So will Dylan and Evie realize that they are the perfect match? Or will their friends have to do the matchmaking?
Stud Finder was a quick, light and fresh modern romance. As always, Blakely will leave readers satisfied and wanting more of her books.
The perfect little romance package...
Stud Finder was short and sweet but definitely gave me the hit I needed to get me through my day. I think the magic ingredient in this one was the fact that the hero was looking for a relationship. All too often, our hero is looking for a hookup or someone to distract for a little while. In this case, Dylan is ready to settle down and looking for his perfect match. His first attempt is to go with an ad explaining exactly what he wants. Unfortunately, he mentions that he's hot and rich which of course gets him A LOT of attention...of the money hungry, desperate kind. Time to bring in the big guns...THE MATCHMAKER!!!
Evie is a very talented matchmaker and happily takes on the job of finding Dylan his perfect match. To find his perfect woman, she must study and get to know him. In her studies, she stumbles across a problem...Dylan is HER perfect match.
It doesn't take long for this couple to realise they're perfect for each other. Evie is a little worried about ruining her friendship and reputation by falling for one of her clients. Dylan must use all his skills to make sure the matchmaker does her job properly. He will only be happy with his perfect match...THE STUD FINDER!
The narrators do a pretty good job with this one. Unfortunately, I do struggle a little with Grace Grant's male voice. She tends to slow her talking voice down making him sound stilted and stuffy. It wouldn't stop me from listening to her again, but she's not my favourite.
I really enjoyed this short, steamy and entertaining little treat. I can't wait for Mia and Patrick's (I think that's their names, I have a shocking memory) story.
It was a fun and sweet novella about the matchmaker and the hot nerd. Well-known trop, but with an unexpected twist. I liked it a lot!
“The Stud Finder will become a Studette Searcher.”
Dylan Parker is sexy, handsome, rich nerd, who feel a need to find the one. He has always relied on the Internet and believes that it will not disappoint him once again.
Evie is a successful matchmaker. She helps women find their second half. When Olivia, her client and friend, asked her for help for her brother, she takes it as a challenge and willingly agrees.
They meet several times to find out what woman will best suit him. But what if it's the one who is looking for her.
It was really wonderful. Simple, but not obvious. Perfect for an evening full of laughter and swooning. I really do not have to go into that much detail. Just spend some time with this story and you will be satisfied.
Very good for fans of Lauren Blakely's previous books, a lot of crossroads. Do not even ask me to explain these correlations. But also good for those who want to know the author and what it's all about with her books.
If you follow my reviews, you know that I’ve read more than my fair share of mediocre novellas. Stud Finder proves that yes, Virginia, there are excellent ones out there. This is the second novella I’ve read and enjoyed by Lauren Blakely, and I think she should give a master class in the art of writing novellas. This book may be short, but it packs one heck of a lively punch.
I adored Evie and Dylan. They are both developed, fun-loving characters. In some ways they are opposites, but also well suited. Blessedly, the story manages to avoid the common pitfall of insta-lust. Evie and Dylan’s initial attraction to one another is platonic and based on their carefree, genuinely kind personalities. As their friendship grows, so does the sexual chemistry. The result is a pleasurable slow burn that is perfectly paced.
I’m normally a fan of epilogues, but I could have done without the last chapter—which reads like an epilogue—and the actual epilogue(s). I found them to be on the cheesy side, and the story feels complete and very satisfying without them.
Stud Finder is lighthearted, flirty, and exceptionally entertaining. If you’re looking for a charming diversion, this book has you covered.
Warning: You will get addicted to the DRUG that is Lauren Blakely's writing!!!
Here's how I read a Lauren Blakely book: First, I sometimes skip the blurb as I don't even need to read it to know I'll love whatever crack this author churns; I get high on it all! I proceed with zero caution, diving in, and then devouring as if I am out to get drunk, downing each word like a smooth shot of fine whiskey.
Stud Finder. I don't need the cover or the blurb to lead me to read because HELLO HOT-AS-HELL TITLE! Off to find a stud! SOLD!!!
This love story is even more spectacular than its clever and self-combusting title. This love story is so SWOONY and SWEET. This love story—this Stud Finder—SWEPT ME AWAY!!!
I was so CHARMED by this flirty fairy tale ... HOOK, LINE, and SINKER!!! Sink her...YES, I sank so hard into Stud Finder that I could not and did not stop reading until the end! PURE ADDICTION!!!
Once upon a time beautiful Princess Evie, could not find a prince because she was helping other princesses find their princes. This beautiful princess loved helping others find love but had given up on love for herself. Until she helps the very handsome Prince Dylan, her best friend's brother, find a princess.
I SMILED at the flirty and witty banter between this hero and heroine.
"C'mon, Evie. Go wild with me."
The way he says those words are part-goad, part-flirt, and there's something about him I can't resist.
I LAUGHED at and LOVED Dylan's obvious ogling and deliciously dirty mouth!!!
I nearly whimpered at her downward dog in front of me. I am a dog as I stare at her ass.
I SWOONED and SMOLDERED as Stud Finder's alpha in hot nerd packaging made me weak in the knees!!! One of my kryptonite story scenes is when the hero says, F-it, takes the risk, and shocks the heroine speechless with a kiss. When Dylan delivers this take-charge kiss, I WAS DONE!!! A hero who COMMANDS, cupping the heroine's face, as he plants a sensual, full-body kiss on her is so FREAKIN' FIRE-HOT and HEADY!!! I am still melting from this scene...JUST YES!!!
He parts his lips to speak, then mutters, "Fuck it." He cups my face in his hands and dips his mouth to mine.
Laugh-out-loud funny meets slow-burning love in Stud Finder, a fairy tale guaranteed to make you smile and swoon! Charming characters, combustible chemistry, imaginative and engaging writing, sugary sweetness, and a plot that pulls the reader in make Stud Finder the PERFECT FEEL-GOOD ROMANCE! I ADORED this SWOONY and HEART-HAPPY LOVE STORY! Stud Finder is a match made in romance heaven...the perfect find...the perfect fairytale!!!
"I want you to match me with you."
"4 Cute Couple Stars"
This was a short, sweet and adorable reading! I really enjoyed Dylan and Evie. They were so meant to be with the way they clicked. They teased and challenged each other! And I liked how goofy they were. Loved this one!
...She's polished, and I bet she's been called pretty her whole life because the whole package comes together. But to me, she's sexy and sensual. Because I'm turned on by her mind, by her mouth, by her outlook. The combination is what makes a woman sexy.
Patrick and Mia's is coming I think!
4.5 Perfect Match Stars
OMG! This book is too stinking cute! I adored it. Another fantastic read from Lauren Blakely.
So... novellas are my jam and this one is very close to perfect! The characters are amazing, the storyline is perfection, the writing is exceptional, and last but not least it was sweet and sexy.
Here's the breakdown: Dylan is ready to settle down and find the woman of his dreams. Evie hires herself out to find Dylan the woman of his dreams, as a favor to his sister. When they meet each other again over tea, the attraction is undeniable. But Evie follows the unspoken match-maker code and refuses to date from the pool of potential clients. What happens when you're hired to find another woman for your perfect match?
What I loved: The characters are fabulous. They're both interesting and engaging. I absolutely loved Dylan's character. He's so quirky and cute. Seriously, nerdy perfection. Both Dylan and Evie have their quirks, but they're self assured and no nonsense. They know what they want and pursue it. No games; no jumping through hoop. Just straight forward, sexy, sweet romance.
It's not always a guarantee that a novella will deliver a story that feels fully developed in a shorter span of time. This one doesn't suffer from that problem. Ms. Blakely does a superb job at fleshing out characters and providing enough action to make the novella feel longer than it actually was. The story is complete and completely entertaining.
Overall, this is a huge win! Nearly perfect in every way! I highly recommend it. 1-click asap!
The cover copy tells you where this stands in relation to other books. It works fine if you haven't read those, though, because it's pretty well self-contained.
I enjoyed this. It's a simple story that's about as long as it needed to be. Dylan is a charming fantasy of a rich, successful dork looking for someone to connect long-term with. Evie steps in when his initial attempt is delightfully clueless. Too clueless, really, because he's supposedly an online genius but doesn't know that people are notoriously disingenuous on matchmaking services. Going with the fantasy, these are delightful characters. Their shared love of the quirky parts of the city and sharing their insights both with each other and in pithy formats online was fun and I totally bought their connection.
If you can give it the premise and engage the fantasy, then it's a fun, short read. Since I can and did, it warrants a very weak four stars. The fantasy is too threadbare for five stars and there's a late-story pullback that felt unnecessary making the rating wobbly, but in all I was engaged and enjoyed my time with the characters.
A note about Steamy: There's a single explicit sex scene late in the story and it does go on a bit. For such a short work, it's the middle of my steam tolerance and very nearly higher.
Dylan Parker is ready to settle down and he thinks is gonna be a "piece of cake!" It so is not! His sister talks him into using a mutual friend that is in the profession of finding matches for successful women and men.
Evie gets great satisfaction from her work. She prides herself on her integrity in her business dealings, which for her profession is not to date clients.
I liked the chemistry between these characters. There was a sincerity to the dialogue between the characters and for a short story it was rather satisfying.
As these two fall for each other it's sweet and sexy and very predictable. This story is a great quickie for those familiar with characters in the Big Rock universe.
Yea......sooooo....not sure how to rate this one. Not gonna lie. Which is why I went middle of the road and left it at that. And it's not because it's bad, I think it's more of a "it's me, not you" type of thing.
I can't say anything bad about this book. It was cute and I enjoyed the characters. The plot line was relevant in today's world of dating and technology.
It was a quick read, which was fine. It's a novella - they're suppose to be quick and easy reads. The pace was perfect and I enjoyed watching these two characters fall unexpectedly for one another. My only complain is the narration in the middle and near the end of the book. I didn't care for those and felt those halted the flow.
Stud Finer is sweet read with no drama at all. Which I think is where the "it was just ok" rating comes in for me.
If you enjoy those easy, sweet and sugary romances without any drama, this book is perfect for you.
I quiet enjoyed this, the match maker finds her match. But the ending though that was sneaky and I love it.
Dylan is a pretty alright guy and I am surprised he was still single because he is a fairly go with the flow type of guy.
These two have that spark right away so I was interested in how this was going to work out.
Pleasantly surprised. :)
Enjoyed the narration a lot!
“I want you to match me with you.”
I'm pretty sure I look like a fool right about now, with a grin spread a mile wide on my face. This book was EVERYTHING. It was all kinds of sweet and delicious like that boba tea Dylan and Evie had at Quickie, hot and sweat-inducing like the spicy as hell salsa that Evie savored all too much at Mama une's, but most of all, it was perfect, precious and absolutely magical. Only Lauren Blakely can make me feel this way even after reading a quick novella. Stud Finder is tremendously, out of this world satisfying. The ultimate rom com that will leave you with loads of good vibes and swoony feels that lasts for days. It's the brilliantly concocted tale you never knew you needed.
Did someone say hot nerd? Because... YES PLEASE! No questions asked, no explanations needed. Honestly, Dylan Parker is the kind of guy I'd definitely be interested to date IRL. I just loved how socially clueless he was. It wasn't the kind that would leave you feeling awkward; instead, it was so adorable considering how sexy and witty he was. Dylan's intelligence—the way his mind works—was utterly refreshing. The way he described and just knew what he wanted in a woman who he'll be spending the rest of his life with will completely melt your heart (and panties). He's definitely a far cry from the more superficial men you read about or hear about these days. This guy? He's persistent as hell and deep af, considering the things and activities he wants to do with the woman he'll be matched with. And his sense of humor? On. Freaking. Point. I just soaked up all that charming, bordering on dirty humor like a sponge on steroids. Dylan Parker left butterflies fluttering—no, swarming—in my stomach even long after I was done reading.
Evie Milligan is extraordinarily gifted with the talent of having a keen eye for matching anything—colors, clothes, food and the best yet—soulmates. She was so good at it that she even turned in into a business. But she was the matchmaker who hasn't come across her own match yet. Little did she know, it'll be her next client who would capture her heart and full attention. I loved Evie's quirkiness. She was so desirable, so ridiculous and fun. Her stories and her personality beyond entertained me and had me laughing more than I expected. Once you get to know her, it wouldn't be the least bit surprising why Dylan chose her. Why after just a few get togethers, their chemistry was already off the charts. Or why they worked and got along so well with each other despite their numerous differences. They were really just a match made in heaven.
If you're looking for an EPIC, endlessly swoon-worthy and toe-curling romantic comedy—one with the sweetest, sexiest moments and some of the most hilarious lines and scenes you'll ever read and picture in your head while busting your gut laughing, do yourself a favor and pick up any of Lauren Blakely's romcoms. You can never ever go wrong there. Trust me. And make sure to add this book about the hot nerd and the matchmaker to that list of must reads, because this Stud Finder will not let you down.
4.5 Stars
I know I have to help him. I simply can’t let a man who’s that much of a catch take this sort of risk.
I seriously love Lauren Blakely so much, her books never fail to leave me grinning from ear to ear and falling in love right along with her characters! This may be a novella, but make no mistake, this one is full of everything we’ve come to love about Lauren Blakely’s books – incredibly down-to-earth, relatable characters, tons of swoon, smart and flirty banter, and plenty of heat! Stud Finder can absolutely be read as a standalone but if you’ve read some of her past offerings in this interconnected world of standalones, then you’ll definitely recognize some familiar faces throughout the story. I love how interconnected all of these characters are, this world just keeps growing and growing and I hope it never stops! (As a side note, I thought the character charts at the end were genius! I was thinking as I was reading that I wish there was some sort of list because sometimes it’s hard to remember the connections, but my wish was granted when I got to the end!)
This particular book is about Dylan Parker who is a tech whiz and uber-successful entrepreneur, he’s attractive and very down-to-earth but he’s a little awkward when it comes to social situations. He’s looking for a woman who he can share his interests and time with but when his attempt at putting an ad up on an online dating site backfires he agrees to use the matchmaker who his sister used to find her fiancé. Evie knows what a catch Dylan is and she is eager to help him find the perfect woman. As the two, seemingly opposites, spend time together so Evie can assess what Dylan is looking for, they begin to realize they had more in common than they ever thought. Their attraction quickly grows and Dylan is pretty sure that the perfect woman for him is the one right in front of him, but will Evie break the cardinal rule of matchmaking and fall for her client?
Stud Finder is a really quick read but it never felt rushed or forced. I loved seeing Dylan and Evie get to know one another and see them slowly start to fall for each other. Their banter was spot on and I found myself chuckling more often than not at their conversations. Dylan was delightfully awkward and so charming, I loved him! For being so successful, he was so wonderfully normal and really came across as your everyday kind of guy and I loved that. It’s something that I love about all of Lauren Blakely’s characters, they are totally people you can picture yourself being friends with. It’s such fun to read! Evie was great, I loved her perceptive nature and her competitive yoga skills! The chemistry between Dylan and Evie was perfect and I loved all the sexual tension that resulted in a really great payoff! I also really enjoyed the little addition of the prologue, interlude, and epilogue, it was a fun little twist that perfectly capped off the story! A must-read for all Lauren Blakely fans or for anyone looking for a quick, funny, and sexy read!
