This is a very thorough, very clear account of human settlement in Britain over the last million years or so. The latest dating techniques and archaeological findings make this essential reading. All earlier coverage of the subject has been superseded in several ways. I found the charts superb, but some of the photographs a little difficult to interpret. The author is a longstanding staff member at the British Museum.
