GAUNTLET - The Talisman Chronicles, Episode 3
Beck Leighton’s generally got three things on his mind: Classes, swim team, and finding a way to get his little sister away from their drunken, abusive mother. Then Wren Galloway shows up at Lamsden High, a smart and pretty blonde who challenges him on every level.
But when Wren vanishes—literally—before his very eyes, Beck knows his life will never be the same. He’s been chosen for a purpose, to protect his family, friends, and everyone in Lamsden from a mysterious threat that grows stronger with every passing day.
Beck really hopes he’ll be strong enough to fight it.
T.M. Franklin writes stories of adventure, romance, & a little magic. A former TV news producer, she decided making stuff up was more fun than reporting the facts. Her first published novel, MORE, was born during National Novel Writing month, a challenge to write a novel in thirty days. MORE was well-received, being selected as a finalist in the 2013 Kindle Book Review Best Indie Book Awards, as well as winning the Suspense/Thriller division of the Blogger Book Fair Reader's Choice Awards. She's since written four additional novels and several best-selling short stories...and there's always more on the way.
Excellent. Energy and light . Anger and rage. Action and waiting, More questions that lead Chloe,Miranda , Ethan.Wren, and now Beck to the WA U Campus to try to find out what's next for them. 5 stars

I think Beck, the main in this episode of The Talisman Chronicles, is my favourite character. He's focussed on doing well at school and with his swimming, but there's something about him, a serious side that is so endearing. What we don't know, until this episode, is about his sister, and the crap he and his dad are going through with her and Beck's mother.
While all that is going on, Beck is brought into the fold with the others and the prophecy. His destiny is explained to him, and it takes him a while to get used to it and his relationship with Wren. He's a strong character with flaws that make him all the more relateable.
At the end of Timepiece, the expanding group realized that Beck Leighton is also supposed to be part of their mission. With the help of Wren, the situation is explained to him and he is led to the chest in Chloe’s attic. In it he finds an old glove – somewhat of an old-fashioned gauntlet. Unlike with Wren’s timepiece, the gift of the gauntlet isn’t apparent straight away.
The author does a great job in combining the paranormal adventure with Beck’s real life struggles. They actually serve to unlock and eventually focus his gift. Through this he also grows closer to Wren.
It was fun to see how the different characters are connected and have their own role to fulfill. More and more pieces to the puzzle are revealed and slowly falling into place.
With The Talisman Chronicles there is no such thing as a coincidence, as the group learns. Miranda, not an “active” member of the group, shows great support in doing research to help the group along.
This is the third book in the Talisman Chronicles and it sucks you in to even more "chaos"!
This book is set through the eyes of Beck Leighton. It seems each book is going to be written through another character in this series. I really like that. It keeps you drawn in and seeing things from all different sides.
I liked getting to know Beck more and understand more of what is going on in his life. His life is not sunshine and rainbows yet he doesn't see to let any of that get him down. I really like this about him and think that it will really benefit the building group.
You are able to go through the story and see all that is happening around and how chaotic the town is becoming. There are still 3 books to go and I can only imagine how bad it is all going to get. Be prepared to have no finger nails by the end of this series!!
I really enjoyed this third installment of the Talisman Chronicles! Beck is a great character, and I'm interested to see where T.M. Franklin takes him and the others through the rest of the series.
I received a complimentary copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.
