This review can also be found on my blog.

I loved the setting for this story, and I felt transported to the equally beautiful and harsh environment. As for the story itself, the push and pull between the once lovers was palpable and entertaining. Despite those good points, I'm sad to say that this novella just didn't do it for me.

I found myself a little confused by their history. Skip past the spoiler link if you don't want to know too much about Skip and Wren's history.

Knowing their history did help to paint a clearer picture of why Wren kept throwing up walls against Skip's advances. He was adorable, albeit a little bit clueless. The most annoying thing was the near constant repetition of Wren voicing her thoughts followed by "Did I say that out loud?" After the third time, it wasn't cute anymore. And I won't even start on the logistics of making love with a broken arm that is secured in place by a curling iron.

I'd say borrow this one, if you can. While I didn't care much for these two, I found myself more intrigued by the excerpt for Hooked, from the Alaskan Adventure series. Now if only I could find it somewhere. I'm a little mystified, since the second book in that series is due to be released soon. If anyone comes across Hooked, please let me know.

Skip Ozhuwan and Wren Terni grew up together in a small Alaskan town. They were childhood sweethearts. But that all went south when Wren's mother committed suicide and Wren blamed her abusive father. Not wanting to face the pain Wren turned to a life of drugs and Skip had to arrest her and send her away. This was also after she shot him.

Five years later Wren is coming back to Egegik for Skip's sister wedding which she is the Maid of Honor. She has to get there on a puddle jumper with Skip to make it to the small town, something she is not looking forward to since Skip had thrown her in jail five years ago. She wants nothing to do with him and Skip wants to start up where they left off.

Not long after taking off the plane crashes when the pilot suddenly dies. During there fight for survival Wren and Skip work through there issues.

I have to say this is just a 50 page book but you dont feel cheated about it being so short. Alot happens in those 50 pages.

This was my virgin read of this author.

This is a short story about a couple who had a difficult past.

They never stopped loving one another in the 5 years since their separation, and they finally have an opportunity for a second chance.

This story is their journey of letting go of past, forgiving one another, and having the courage to move forward.

Impact is the first book I have read in the Wild Men of Alaska group of stories. I really enjoyed Wren and Skip's story, I only wish it was longer. The descriptions of Alaska are wonderful and make me wish I had not turned down that job so many years ago.

Audibook, Audible included.

Very short. Romance was okay. Some of the repeating themes/things the FMC was saying was driving me bonkers. I was glad it was short though. Cute plot idea though.

This is a short story about 2 ex-lovers that get trapped together in a crashed plane during a storm in the wilds of Alaska. Wren and Skip grew up together and were each other's first loves. The full details are sketchy but it appears that certain things ended Wren on a path where she got hooked on drugs and Skip had to arrest her for her own good. I didn't have an issue with that but I did find it strange that he dropped out of her life for 5 years and thought it would be easy to get back in her life. There was a rather confusing mix of emotions and blame that Wren and Skip needed to work through. They don't get through them completely but they do realize what they've been missing enough that Skip and Wren are back together by the end of the story.

This was an enjoyable story. Wren and Skip both seemed like good people but, TBH the story isn't long enough to get to know them very well (especially considering all the conflicting emotions that had to be dealt with). I think this would have been better if it had been a bit longer (to work through things a bit better) but overall is was a decent story and I'm reading book #2 in the series next.

* note - I listened to the audio version of this story and the narrator did a good job.

I love stories about lovers who reunite for a second chance at love. And I love stories that take place in my home state of Alaska!

With this short story by Tiffinie Helmer, I have both.

When Wren Terni returns to her village for a wedding, the last person she wants to see is Alaska State trooper Skip Ozhuwan, the man who arrested and sent her to jail for 5 years. But as luck would have it, he is on the same small 3 seat plane as her. When they crash in the mountains, these two have to face each other and deal with their sordid past, or freeze to death.

I LOVED the fact that Ms. Helmer does an amazing job of stay true to the reality of living in Alaska. I had to laugh at some of the lines, shaking my head and saying, yep, that’s Alaska.

This was the first time I read anything written by Tiffinie Helmer, I was so impressed by the fact that this was a short story, 67 pages on my Nook, yet, it was so well written that I didn’t feel rushed or cheated.

As soon as I was done with Impact, I immediately went to B&N and downloaded Moosed Up, the second book in the Wild Men of Alaska Series.

Wren Terni isn't looking forward to seeing Officer Skip Ozhuwan yet there he stands in small King Salmon Airport. He's just like she remembered with a few changes to his physique that she can see. Wren wonders if he thinks of her like she does him. She really doesn't want to be here flying home to Egegik for her best friend's wedding. Skip wants to spend time with Wren before his sister's wedding before she gets caught up in all the wedding festivities. Skip is stunned with how beautiful she is after all this time yet can't wait to talk with her again. When the plane crashes leaving Wren, Skip, and dead pilot out in Alaskan bush all of Skip's plans go out the window. Skip and Wren need to prepare to survive at least one or two days before being rescued. Skip is injured which makes preparation alittle difficult leaving Wren to do much of the work. Can Wren let go of the past? Can Skip breech Wren's walls? Will Skip and Wren admit their feelings? When will they be rescued? Your answers await you in Impact.

A well balanced romance mixed with a little suspense and smexy moments. Great underlying storyline with compelling characters- a bit of danger and drama to keep us on the edge of our seat. And also a bit of heat to spice up the romance.

Characters I'm sure that will pull you into the pages . The . Chemistry between Wren n the sexy trooper will certainly mpact your read loll !!! I certainly wouldnt mind snuggling up to him on a cold Alaskan winters night ** wink wink ** ...

A short quick. read that I'm sure will have you wanting more way past the last page hes been turned. I know I did :) I cant wait to see what Tiffinie has in store for us for future stories.

Tiffinie puts forth a well delivered storyline with likeable characters and enough descriptions to paint us a picture we can certainly envisage. Enough loving and sexiness for all those romantics out there and mabye a little more than you bargined for ** grnis **

3.25 RATING- I actually wanted to read book two in the Wild Men of Alaska series. After seeing Impact was the first book and only 50 pages long, I thought I'd start there, although after reading both, they are not connected.

Impact was a very short read but had some cute moments. It's a quick snapshot of a second chance romance that blooms again after a plane crash. The story isn't very believable but it was a decent read. I liked the hero but wasn't that big of a fan of the heroine.

Excellent read! I loved this short story so much. Great characters, location, humor. I especially loved being in Wren's POV. She's a funny, funny girl! I couldn't ask for much more. Very pleased with this, and was very entertained as well. I'd read it again, and I can't wait to read the other books in the series.

The only thing that kind of bothered me was Wren's name… I kept misreading it as When on my tiny phone, which was a pain each time :(. Damn eyes playing tricks on me! Unfortunately, that was the sole reason I didn't add this book to my favorites list. But you still can't go wrong with this quick shorty and I recommend it to those who like second chance romances with a satisfying HEA. This is definitely a permanent fixture on my digital Keeper Shelf!

Tiffinie Helmer does a GREAT job at mixing suspense and danger with some really surprising and laugh-out-loud humor. The hero and heroine were very real to me and I feel like I got lost in the wilds of Alaska with them. I loved how much depth and humanity shone through the pages in such a short time. The only critical thing I would say about this is that it left me wanting a lot more. More of the story, more of the characters, and more adventure and danger in Alaska. I hope she keeps this up because I'm already a fan for life. I'll be watching for the next release.

Not sure I would have been so obsessed with the other person if I was in a fight to survive, but  then this was a romance book after all,lololol... And there was a point I thought "Well get it over with all ready."  But all in all it was a good story for being so short.

Deffinately for mature adults ....

The author did a great job of supplying enough info of how these two people got to where they're at in life... But this would  have been a great ending for a full size book!

Looking forward to reading a full size book from this author.

Oh, yay! Snowed in (not in a cabin, but in a downed plane, but who am I to quibble?) and forced to cuddle up to conserve body heat! I do so like that! Fun and sexy, I liked that Skip and Wren knew each other from before and that Skip was determined to win Wren back. *thumbs up*

This book was a free Kindle download I picked up 09/15/12 for the Why Buy the Cow? reading challenge.

This book would be better if it included Skip and Wrens past. It’s like the best of the story was off stage. As is, both seem crazy..wren gave me whiplash in how fast she swings from trying to avoid Skip to suddenly saying I love you and wanting to get married that day. Skip is a weird stalker who puts a tat of a wren over the scar on his shoulder where wren shot him...because he could not say it was in the line of duty as a cop. Like it should be covered up wearing a shirt? and who goes up and asks a stranger about scars and in a small town they all know your business anyway...this made no sense?? This entire story is over a 24 hr period and all I kept thinking is they should have adjacent rooms in the psych ward.

This story started really good. But it went south fast...getting sexy times when he has a broken arm (that she set and taped to a curling iron), her constantly bleeding head wound, their serious past that would keep most people from speaking, the icy cold wilderness they are in after a plane crash, the cold (like getting naked in frigid dangerously cold temp on a tiny plane is sexy? Especially if wounded?) oh and a dead pilot who was Skips friend? Really? So not romantic. And let’s not forget Skip has been keeping tabs on her which she finds out about...creepy not romantic...mooning over each other’s physical attributes and some of the dialogue (including internal) was like a comedy...just...too much weird shit had me scratching my head and saying wtf?

DNF. I didn’t really give it a solid chance either though. Just immediately found it wasn’t for me. I was thinking that maybe this would be a slower burn between the fmc and mmc given their past/history. I mean who in their right mind, in the middle of a plane crash, would do things the way they did.

But the idea that after a plane crash (which was taken very lightly and totally not a big deal to them mind you), and after not seeing each other for 5 years (both of them have apparently been celibate as well for 5 whole freakin years) and the fmc having good reason not to immediately trust the mmc again, they fall in love after night one of having to stay warm until help comes oh and he proposes and she says yes.

I dunno! Like I said, I didn’t give it a solid chance, it just unfortunately turned me off from the beginning. To have the seemingly HEA at the beginning is just not for me and I didn’t like that there seemed to be plot holes already :/

Also if I read “did I just say that out loud” one more time I’m gonna scream.

I will say that this setting gave me inspiration to write a new story, so thanks!!

Tiffinie Helmer writes romance, usually with wild creatures playing a part and set in Alaska (ex: Moosletoe) but the only wild things in this book were Skip and Wren and how they survived an Alaskan snowstorm. It is a second chance romance. I recommend any and all Tiffinie Helmer books. Her stories are very original, entertaining, and they have glorious endings. Read one and you will be a lifelong fan like I am.

This is a crashing and dealing with the elements as well as a second chance romance. Skip is a ranger who is assisting in bringing Wren to Alaska for his sister's wedding. Wren has been away for 5 years because Skip had her arrested. Now when they see each other both realize the love is still there but can they forgive? When their small plane crashes Skip and Wren must put their differences aside to stay alive. Great one!

Okay this book had a good strong concept for a good read however, it fell short very, very short. Very shallow story execution, 2nd chance romance that gave plenty of issues this couple had to work through to get their HEA, but sadly it was wam bam thank you mam, swept under the rug HEA the end! Not recommended read.

Wren is flying with Skip, her ex BF, to his sister's wedding when their plane crashes. He still loves her despite her past and the major issues she had.

This was a crazy redemption story with little depth.

Ew. This dude is gross. "I've stalked you for the last 5 years, never spoken to you after a huge traumatic experience, now will persuade you to give up the new life you've made for yourself with some sex after another traumatic experience because I'm your soulmate." Um, what? No. Gross.

I’m a sucker for a snowed in Alaskan romance but the “accidentally sharing my thoughts out loud” trope really took me out of it. Ending felt a little rushed but all in all a fun forced proximity romance

Cute book.

Wren is going home for a wedding. Skip is taking his sister's wedding cake to her. They end up on the same plane. It gets worse before it gets better.
