This is such an amazing collection! Five books, including the epic "Rise of the Defender" that encompasses several generations of the de Lohr family. I had previously read these books separately, but with this collection it is so much easier to follow the families and their relationships down through the generations when you are reading one book following the other. And, the stories themselves? Off the charts good! This is actually my third time reading "Rise of the Defender," all 700 plus pages of it. Never a dull moment with the legendary de Lohr brothers, Christopher and David de Lohr, who really begin the dynasty and who are mentioned in so many of Kathryn Le Veque's books. I hated to see it end but know that I now will have all the de Lohr's handy in this fantastic collection.

This is the best way to devour the de Lohr Dynasty!

I truly think there is no equal to Kathryn Le Veque and her writing talents! I loved each of the de Lohr knights and their chivalrous love stories and honor and family above all code. I highly recommend this collection as the ultimate way to read this family's epic tale.

While Angels Slept
Lady Cantia loses her husband Brac in a skirmish and is lost to her grief. The pain led her to make an attempt on her life. If not for her young son and intervention from Viscount Winterton she may have tried again.
Cantia isn't the only one grieving, her father in law is just as hurt by the loss of his son. Instead of honoring his son he seems to blame Cantia and lashes out at her several times.
The viscount has to intervene and eventually confine the elder man to make sure he can't hurt anyone or himself.
The viscount soon finds himself developing feelings for the young widow, feelings that are mutual. But love and happiness don't come easy to this couple. They must face their secret coming to light, covetous cousins, kidnapping, betrayal, and an estranged wife.
Rise of the Defender
Christopher De Lohr returned from the Holy Land as the fiercest warrior and champion of Richard-King of England. Chris also returns with a new title and mission given to him by Richard. He is to control the armed forces and keep tabs on the usurper John. First he must pass on the news that Baron Barringdon has died. Then he must marry the man's spirited daughter.
Oh what havoc one woman can reap. The Lady Dustin threatens the bonds of honor, kinship, and fealty for Richards top knights. She is reluctant to marry Christopher yet sought after by both his friends and enemies. Not to mention the two fight like cats and dogs.
This was a powerful book. There were so many elements involved. So much deception and betrayal. Loyalty was tested to the very last thread. But love conquered it all!
Steelheart
This is Rise of the defender from David's perspective. David is the younger, deadlier, quick tempered, and unpredictable de Lohr. He wasn't nicknamed the Lion Cub for no reason.
David is as tough as his brother Chris and fully capable of forging his own path. David is still reeling from being back on English soil and out of the Holy Land. He is still adjusting to having a sister in law, how it has changed his brother, and their relationship.
David has given his brother a hard time about falling head over heels for his new wife when he suddenly finds himself in similar circumstances.
Lady Emilie strikes a cord with David that he is scared to acknowledge at first. He comes to the young woman's aid on several occasions. When she offer her favor to carry in battle she is targeted Prince John his minions. There is amother threat to David's attentions from a knight close to Emilie's family. David must make a decision and push his uncertainty aside.

Loved this Bundle of Stories and all of the Families!

I was a little sceptical that this many books could be interesting, but I loved all of them! I particularly enjoyed how they all fit together and continued the story of the same family so beautifully. Ms. Le Veque is a master at making a person fall in love with her characters. I would highly recommend this collection to everyone!

Wonderful

Loved all the books in this grouping with the exception of the second one. It kept on going back and forth from the first book and was quite boring. I snapped through it quite a bit, but the first , third, and fourth books were awesome and wonderful.
