Like the heroine I was confused for most of this book. Things were implied or said and then dropped. Her protectors turned into idiots and Reif...yeah, he’s an asshole who hasn’t showed me one reason to forgive him. All the guys knew what the bond meant and how it was suppose to work but instead of working on growing it they shit on it and then Reif went and had sex with OW. Fuck me! The only reason I was able to continue is because the heroine held no feelings for him — doesn’t excuse his actions in any way BUT it eased the blow of his betrayal. Liam was cold, Mason showed growth when he stopped bringing OW around in the first book BUT my issues is that they dreamed of her!! They knew who she was when they met her and were still Douche bags!! Jax was the only one I liked and he fucking died!! However, I’m not 100% sure he’s permanently gone.

For the next book I’m hoping for answers. I’m also hoping that whatever Karma told the guys is revealed and Reif is faced with major consequences for his actions. I’m hoping that it had something. To do with him losing his chance with Kis. There is a scene at the end that alludes to something of that affect. Mason has stated that he doesn’t share and he’s been the most forward with her in that area so there is that but even he has to answer about why he kept being OW around in the beginning...

The second series of Child of Fate starts off with Kismet angry, doing things without thinking, doubting herself, jealous of a beautiful woman, and trying so hard at being an authority figure that it just makes you cringe reading it.

There was some scenes that left me confused.

And the worst thing can happen in a 'reverse harem'. This is a little hard to digest. Kismet said she didn't care but we all know she cares.

This one was unforgivable .I don't know why this was necessary for the story.

I enjoyed the first book but this one was dramatic. Not sure if I will continue reading more.

I'm just not getting betting his series. I feel so lost about everything. Why are changelings bad? Do they actually cause bad thing to happen? If so why are the Travelers doing what they are doing. Why are Merry and Jolly so freaking weird? Am I supposed to feel anything for the guys...because i don't..like at all. Liam is icy and stand offish (and that's usually my favorite in an RH but wow. He is stand off to the point of hurtful. ). Reid has telepathic powers but he didn't answer his MISSING scholar because he was getting busy with some else. First of all you girl is missing. Freaking missing. Why do you have time for that? Mason was the play boy but now he's not..I guess? I'm not sure they never really mention it much. Jax is the one we are supposed to really like but he clearly is still more with the boys than with her. I don't understand how hiding things from Kismet was helping her. Karma is supposed to be this big bad punishment bit that's never really explained well. I'm just so lost! On a positive note I really really like Kismet. These guys are awful to her and instead of begging them to like her or something like that she says screw you and does what she thinks is right. She might not know what's going (and that's okay because neither did I) but she powers through and tries he best to be herself. Props to you girl!

This series started with such potential. The first book was really interesting and hooked me on the series. Unfortunately the second book didn’t live up to the expectations. The FMC is inconsistent. At the beginning she doesn’t know anything (again), but then when it’s convenient for the plot she knows exactly what to do. The male mcs (is this even a rh at this point?) are either awful to her or indifferent. There is a reason for it, but it just doesn’t hold up for how badly she’s treated. There’s only so much you can read of a female character being screwed over and pointless suffering. After a while you expect to get a break... But no, the author decides then to kill off the only male character that was half decent and bring to life another new character that we had no idea of and don’t care about.
It was such a hot mess. Too much going on, characters are not really build upon, and for most of the book you have no idea who’s who and what the hell is going on. And when you finally get some explanation it just doesn’t pay off for all the unanswered questions.
I was very disappointed with this story and I only finished it because I wanted to give it a chance to surprise me. But it didn’t. Will not be continuing the series.

To be honest, I didn't like this book as much as the first. I felt like both Kismet, and the reader, was left too much in the dark about what was going on. It made both the world-building and the intrigue of the book very confusing, in my opinion.
Additionally, I had been hoping for some romance. At least it seems like we'll get that in the third book.

Well, I'll still be reading book three. I'm just not as excited now as I was right after the first book.

Sadness (spoiler alert!)

There is happiness in the form of reunion, but more sadness in loss. I HATE when a character you fall in love with dies! How dare you bring that kind of pain into our made up world. I still love the book, obviously. Kismet is coming into her own in this book. The group faces the likelihood of a severed bond and have to work to fix their problems. That coupled with all the bad doesn’t leave time before the untimely death of a loved one. There just wasn’t enough time, and there certainly isn’t any time to mourn the loss for Kis and the others either.

So Kis and her Guardians are having some trouble getting used to being bonded while doing what they individually think is best. Kis learns more about herself while the guys learn what they're doing wrong essentially.

So the whole story about the collapse and the council and the different races is still very unclear to me. But I'm still enjoying it somehow. I like the characters and the main gist of the story but my man Jax deserved better.

This book was great! It kept you reading and wanting to find out what was happening around the four. The ending made me sad with the loss of one of the guys, but adding in Doom was a nice surprise. This book definitely made up for the confusion in the first book.

I have to say, I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first. In the first book I was frustrated by how passive Kismet was and how she let everyone push her around. I understand that in her life she had little to no agency so she was accustomed to it, but I wanted to see her start standing up for herself. I got to see that in this book.

Kismet and the guys have their first assignment, and it's not what Kismet wanted because the guys decided on a new plan without her. Fed up with being kept out of the loop and feeling like an outsider in a group that she should be the center of, she tells off the guys. On the first day, Kismet also ends up separated from the guys as she deals with the growing threat of shifter madness and trouble with the rifts and the guys figure out evolving politics at the Academy.

I'm glad that Kismet finally grows a pair of ovaries and stands up for herself. She also comes to realize that she is in a position of authority and has the capacity to do things on her own. The guys also come to their senses and realize that putting Kismet at a distance won't help and that they need to recognize her strength just as much as she did.

In book 2 I got a lot of my questions answered that were left unresolved in book 1. More information is given about Fate and the Collapse and Kismet's role in it all, which helped resolve a lot of confusion I had felt when reading the first book.

Unfortunately, while I enjoyed this book more than the first, I still had some issues with it. This book jumps in right where the last one left off, which in itself isn't bad but it had been a while since the first book and I felt myself struggling to remember the keys players and their roles. There is a lot of complex political maneuvering going on and it would have been helpful to have some reminders here and there about the characters and their motivations and connections to help make sense of what was going on. Even after the big showdown, I was still a bit confused about who was on what side.

I was also disappointed when one of the characters I had liked died. I understand it was necessary for someone to die in order to bring in the new character, but why this character? Why not someone else? I think I will have a hard time getting over it unless a really good reason for this specific chartacter's death is given in book 3. I'm also wondering how this new character will fit in with the group when the group was finally starting to figure out their dynamics.

Lastly, I caught a few typos and there were some spots where it felt like there was too much description given of a scene and other times where not enough was given to help me clearly picture what was happening.

Overall, it was a good book and I will probably read the next one to see what happens next. The book doesn't end on a cliff hanger but it definitely ends with a lot to be resolved.

Karmic Justice is the second book in Katherine Davis's Child of Fate Series. This series just keeps getting more entertaining.

We learn of Kismet's destiny in this book despite her guardian's doing everything in their power to keep this knowledge from her. Reif, Liam, Mason, and Jax only want to protect their Fate, but end up doing everything wrong. The decisions they make endanger their bond to Kismet, as well as put her life at risk. This is a fast-paced, action packed book full of political intrigue. There is conflict, pain, and betrayal. As much as I love the guardians, they are beyond frustrating in this book. Reif especially is hard to like at times. He may be in charge, but he's easily the most careless an thoughtless. Mason has grown up. He's my favorite of the guardians in this book; he truly understands fate. Jax is the most loyal and likable and Liam the smartest. Together they should be darn near perfect, but instead they are close to failure in this dangerous time. Kismet may feel like she is a damaged soul who brings bad luck to those nearest her, worth little, and that her guardians would be better off without her, but she deserves so much more than what they offer in this book. She is smart, kind, and has incredible strength. There isn't enough trust between Kismet and her guardians and they sell her short more than once.

As the book progresses Kismet's journey faces many twists and turns which she navigates mostly on her own following her intuition. The introduction of her cousins makes for timely help as well. Her guardians finally wise up, but it's ultimately too late to save the group. There's heartbreak and surprises and maybe a second chance for some; for others the fight is lost. I can't wait to see what happens as we enter deeper into the collapse. This is a most entertaining series.

Kismit is settling into the Academy and her role in it. She and her Guardians have an assignment to do soon, and she's excited and nervous about it. However, things get bad when she realizes that the Guardians are blocking her out and she has no idea why.
Then to top it off she has Fate leading her to places where her Guardians aren't, and things are getting more and more complicated.

This book was not as good as the first one, but it was still enjoyable. I liked the plot line for the most part, but it was slightly confusing when it came to a few things.

I felt things with the vampire Andrew were just kind of overlooked and ignored, and that really didn't make a lot of sense.

Then there was one issue with Reif that seemed to bring more issues, but then it was like it was just ignored and I didn't get that either. It just didn't make sense to me why he even did it especially at a time like that too.

Other than that, I did like it and I'm really looking forward to more.

While Kismet learns what it means to be a Child of fate and a Scholar, she and the Guardians starts to drift apart. In trying to find a way to save her, they shut her out, left her virtually alone and confused. Now, they have to face the consequences.
I wish there were more interaction between Kis and the guys. We barely know anything about them. They all make some questionable decisions that seem important at the time, but later are just being overlooked.
It was messy. Most of the book Kismet herself didn't know what was happening and was operating purely on instinct. I did not like that.
Most of the time I had no idea whatsoever about what was going on. Things started to happen and we weren't given much time to properly process it.
Hope there will be a next one and it will be better.

Good 2nd installment

Allot went on in this book,we saw the same characters and new ones were introduced. We were given the answers to several questions from the first book. Unfortunately for me so much information was given at times I was left confused. An incident happens in this book and at this point I am not sure this story is going to be a true Reverse Harem. This is slightly disappointing, with that being said, I still enjoyed reading the story and look forward to the next one.

I found myself wrapped up in this interesting tangled web of fate story. I kept waiting for the next shoe to drop and it did! I wasn't happy with the loss of one of my favorite characters but it's definitely gotten me anxiously awaiting the next book.

I mostly just skimmed through this book. The relationships are not good and the plot wasn't keeping my attention.
