**AWARDED THE READERS' FAVORITE FIVE STAR SEAL**

Moving to a new city isn’t the magic fix Lexie Travis hoped it would be. Sure, she put some mileage between herself and her feuding parents, her miserable dating history, and the memories of a life-altering injury. However, she still feels like a former shadow of herself, hiding behind her diminished confidence and her thorough disbelief in true love.
Everything changes when Lexie’s best (and only) friend drags her to a country music concert. Lexie loves country music, but she loathes the top-selling heartthrob who sold out the arena. Jack Morgan became a sensation with a string of degrading, shallow songs that she can’t stand.
After suffering through an evening surrounded by the playboy celebrity’s endless sea of admirers, a startling trauma lands Jack in the hospital, and Lexie is the physical therapist assigned to the VIP treatment of the very man she despises.
Jack is drawn to the one woman who appears resistant to his charms and who loves to check his ego every chance she gets, yet gives him the honesty he needs. She’s the opposite of his usual groupies. He can only continue his tour if he receives rehab on the road, and Lexie is the lone person Jack trusts for the job.
Reluctantly, she agrees to take the journey on his luxury coach, joining the wild cast of characters on his crew. Yes, she was given many incentives to take the assignment, but the reason she wants to ignore is the dangerous one. Jackson Morgan is growing on her. He’s shown her facets of his personality she never fathomed, and maybe she isn’t immune to his handsome charm after all.
At every turn, another challenge pushes her away from him. A woman returns from his past, along with new temptations at every concert. Jack’s manager clings to control over his artist and doesn’t like Lexie, or her growing influence. Media attention makes her want to run the other way, but she can’t escape it.
Stepping onto the tour bus is the domino that starts a chain reaction in their lives and challenges them both to change. Could they learn to believe in love and happily ever after?

Under the Covers Book Lovers Groupie Review – Bel
Ahh, yessssss! This story, these loveable characters, Groupie is everything you could want in a sweet, sexy contemporary romance. I’m so excited to say this is my first FIVE star read in a LONG time and anyone who knows me knows I don’t hand out five star ratings lightly, and rarely do those five stars go to fluffy contemporary romance novels. (They just aren’t my favourite genre.) So lets get to why this country music, doctor/patient themed romance did it for me. Enter Jackson Morgan. Party animal Country superstar. Cocky playboy. At least that’s what Lexie Travis thought about the man before having to treat him in hospital. To the world, Jack Morgan was every bit the young carefree country singer with a somewhat bad boy reputation. He looked the part, played the part, but gosh was he so much more than that. Jackson himself is plenty enough reason to read this book so go, go now and pick this baby up if you love a drop dead sexy, swoon worthy sweet man with the kind of morals and values you know your mama would be proud of. Trust me, you won’t regret letting Jack Morgan into your life. If I’m being honest, the only reason I took a chance on this book was because of the blurb. I haven’t read this author’s work before but I do know Groupie will not be the last time I pick her novels up. I remember thinking “Oh no, not another rockstar book.” (I’m not a massive fan of that sub genre.) And yes I aware, Jack’s a country star, not a rockstar. But you know, samsies. But I kept reading the blurb anyway and for some reason it peaked my interest. So I signed up in the hopes of an arc and added it to my to-read list. Groupie was such a sweet, heart warming surprise that brought constant smiles to my face and had me swooning left, right and centre. I didn’t expect the story and characters to draw me in the way they did. But how I could not fall for them? They were well crafted, easy to love and as the book progressed I couldn’t help but wonder where they would end up. It’s light, sweet, the drama is kept to a minimum, the sexual tension is high. If you’re in the mood for this kind of read, I highly suggest you take a chance on Groupie. It’s FIVE stars from me.

Groupie Book Club Discussion Questions:
1.The quote from the Morrisons plays an important role. "The secret is not finding the perfect someone you can live with, it is finding the imperfect one you cannot live without."
Do you believe in this quote yourself? How do you feel it affected Lexie throughout the book?

2. Lexie judges Jack by his image as a celebrity. We know this is often the work of tabloids, gossip, PR stunts and image creation for Hollywood. It is also widely accepted that celebrity comes with a price. Do you have these pre-conceived notions of some celebrities and it is fair for Lexie to have judged him?

3.The author considers the soundtrack to this novel to be a very important layer to the story. Did you identify with the music and what role did it play for you and the emotions of the novel?

4 .As readers learn more about Lexie's past with her parents and boyfriends, how did you think these experiences shaped her views on love and commitment?

5.The author found the Ashley's character essential to the novel. Did you connect with the best friend and why do you think her role was vital?

6.The author's desired to keep the sexual scenes in this book at a 'sweet' level- did the book succeed in giving romance, angst and butterflies without being explicit?

7.The supporting cast brought a variety of personality to the novel. Some were friend and some were foe. Who stood out to you and why?

8.What as your favorite scene in the book?

9. What was your favorite line in the book?

10.Lexie's underlying issue is lack of self esteem and her loss of confidenceafter the alterations in her life. This makes her feel unworthy of Jack andlove in general. Do you think most girls can identify with this at someage/stage of their life? How can it cause a ripple effect in their choices?

11. At the end of Volume One, Lexie has made a decision to choose work/career over a relationship. Is it a valid problem for women today? Did she just use this as an excuse to end things before she got hurt or did she truly feel she had no choice?

12. Jack retaliated to hurt Lexie after she ended their romance. Who was most at fault? If you were in each person's shoes, could you forgive?

My entire life, I loved to read voraciously and write story after story. I won the English Dept scholarship at my high school... then I promptly went into the Sciences at the University of Kentucky. I had fallen in love with physical therapy and I made it my career.

I sat down and wrote my novel, Groupie in a six month time frame on a Netbook- I kid you not. That's a tiny laptop, y'all. It was so long that I wound up with two books and Groupie was a series!
Now, I have the best of both worlds so both sides of my brain are happy. .

It's funny, for a book titled "Groupie", it sure does sneer on groupies a lot. Serious, if 'groupie-shaming' was a term, this book would set a record for having the most amount of groupie-shaming ever. But more on that later.

This book follows the characters Lexie, who is a physician, and Jack Morgan, a country music star. When Jack gets injured during a concert, Lexie is assigned as his physician and then has to travel on tour with him while he heals. And I was doing okay with all that. The romance was a slow burn, the writing wasn't bad and the author seemed to have done her research of physical therapy.

Things were doing okay. Hell, I was even, more or less, successful, at overlooking the use of wrong words (like 'fatal flaw' in the wrong context) and the constant groupie-shaming, done by Lexie, with sentences like:
I did not want to end up falling for him like another pathetic groupie.

I was even putting up with Lexie, who has to be one of the most judgemental characters I've ever read about. Seriously, she gave Jack shit over his music, how he lived his life, his clothing, his relationships, EVERYTHING! She was a complete and utter BITCH who even went so far as to say that if a female practically molested him, then it was because of the inappropriate content of his music and that he was "asking for it". My God, how did the author write that without realizing how WRONG that is?!

Yet, I persevered (God only knows how). The moment I snapped was during a scene which included these lines:
"the famous cycle of bimbo groupies who are disposable, making it easy for you to stay completely non-involved and ready for the next one."

We've already established that Lexie is a judgemental bitch so far up on that high horse of hers that if someone would just give her a little push, we wouldn't have to deal with her anymore. But what's worse (yup, it got worse), Jack didn't object to her saying this! These were his fans she was shaming and he agreed with her! In fact, he never disagreed with any of her degrading remarks because apparently, her word is fucking gosphel, the rainbow-shitting angel that she is.

I'm not sure who I hate more, him or Lexie. Actually no, definitely Lexie.

By the time I got to the end, I was ready for this shit to be over. Then we find out there's sequel after the ending was a cheap and blatant attempt at stretching a story for as long as possible. Obviously, I won't be reading it.

Now I'm going to stop ranting. It's safe to say that I fucking loathed this book and don't, at all, recommend it. Just glad I'll never have to think about this it again, except when it comes time for my worst reads of the year post.

I'm giving this 2.5 stars. I really did like the story and how it flowed from the beginning but I felt like it dragged on and on and on so much that I started to lose interest. I continued to find out what happens in the end but when I got to the end I realised you had to read the next book in order to find out. I'm not sure I can jump into the next book knowing how painfully slow this one was. maybe I'll read it at some point

4 -- Second-to-last Song -- stars

I liked this book a lot. It’s a clean romance about a famous country singer and an ordinary physical therapist. It doesn’t really end with a big cliffhanger in my opinion, but there are still things unsolved between Lexie and Jackson. Jackson also has secrets about his past and I need to know them! He really keeps his lips sealed about a few things. Jackson is a talented, successful singer. He loves performing, his fans and touring.

Lexie loves her job and is very good at it. She never expected to be the physical therapist of someone famous. She knows who Jackson is and she isn’t really a fan of his music, even though she likes country music. Lexie is determined to make Jackson better and fast. She likes to treat him and talk to him. Jackson gives her an opportunity she has never had before. I loved that I read about treatments and terms in the physical therapy.

Their first real meeting wasn’t nice and I didn’t know how they would end up together. Lexie didn’t want to work with Jackson anymore. When Jackson and Lexie spend more time together, Jackson likes her more and more. Lexie is different than the other women he knows and he likes that. She challenges him. They banter. Jackson changes and wants to be a better man for Lexie. He wants her close and falls hard for her.

Lexie and Jackson only kiss near the end of the book. I don’t mind it since it’s the first book of a duet. Lexie and Jackson really get to know each other. This book is only told from Lexie’s point of view, but it was still clear that Jackson wants Lexie because of his actions. He can be a romantic. Lexie hoped she didn’t read his signs wrong, because she was falling hard for him. I wondered how they would be a couple eventually and who would make the first move.

As a fan of the normal-girl-falls-in-love-with-famous-actor-or-singer storyline, I found it refreshing to read one that takes place among those who sing my favorite genre of music, country.

Like Lexie, I too, have been frustrated with country music's current fascination with songs about "“female body parts, the benefits of one night stands, string bikinis, and how to party your life away.”

But what can I say, I love a southern twang and a man in tight jeans and boots. Jack fits that to a T.

I was totally digging on this book until the end. But it sounds like Book 2 will right everything I found wrong with the ending. I'll definitely be checking it out.

Overall I like it. It goes an extra star because in my head I'm picturing me and Dierks Bentley as Lexie and Jack. ;-)

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review. And honestly? I think Dierks and I would make a cute couple. Four stars.

if you like music, rock stars and romance, you will love this book. I picked up Groupie on Amazon KU and really enjoyed this read. It is not a hard core wild sex drugs and rock n roll type of novel, but an irresistible romance with a strong and interesting character Lexie. Lexie a physical therapist is the protagonist and she meets up with a celebrity country rock star gorgeous musician. The book is full of research of musicians on tour, life on the road and the world of physical therapy. I really enjoyed it. Now, I'm off to read book two. My advice download them both at the same time so you can go from one to another.

When reading Groupie (Groupie #1) by Susan Daugherty its easy to see that this author comes from a “PT” background, because it seems she sure knows what she is talking about. Maybe even a little too much? Because at times for me as a non professional in that area the description of the repeated processes - while definitively necessary – still felt overwhelming at times.
But still – the author gave her story leading characters the same kind of “real” that she gave those processes and it did the story a favor. During the whole read it felt like this could have happened at any given time in real life, which I liked a lot.
Lexie and Jack both have flaws that get in their ways and yet both are sweet and well developed characters. Their developing relationship was served at a nice pace and it was fun following them on their journey.
In the end I could only go with 4 stars because it was the reality that also got in the way of the missing star, because what happened felt real but not good. My Kindle told me I was nearing the end and I could feel that something was “wrong”, while it is not a cliffhanger in the usual sense it is an open end and a not satisfying one. Also I am having a slight problem with the events leading to that end because given the whole “real” feeling of the book it was just in those last 5-10% where the story suddenly at least in part left the “real” and it did not go over well for me.
Anyway I was thinking for a minute “this is the end? Seriously?” so when I read that there would be a sequel I can only say that I hope it will pick up where we left here, because this story needs a closure and I am looking forward to it.

I was given this book from the author for an honest review.

Lexie Travis is a talented PT at an hospital in Knoxville. Her life is rather normal until her world is shaken up by Jackson "Jack" Morgan, a country singer that has a stage accident during a concert Lexie attends. He is taken to the hospital she works and as a secret task, she is asked to do a PT session to help him with therapy for his hurt ankle and leg. But since he's on tour, they'll need to work close to heal what is broken, both in and out of their selves.

The characters: Lexie or "Lex" like Jackson calls her, is your typical small town girl. She is humble, educated, but guarded because of past disappointments. Jack is on the other hand more open and being a singer, he loves to play around, but Lexie will find out that he is not a jerk like she had thought. Since the build up is slow, we get to see and discover bits of their personalities as we move on. I'd say this helped to create relatable characters who acted realistically for a book.

The plot: As I said above, Lexie and Jackson meet by chance and start forming a bond while they need to be close to each other for therapy. Lexie is the only first person narrator, and she informs the reader of what happens in her life day by day as if it was a diary. It was an unpredictable story for most part, but nothing really happened until around the 90% mark! And it saddened me, because the start made me imagine we would see more sparks between our main characters and a more exciting story, but it didn't happen. Don't misunderstand me, I liked the story although it wasn't my cup of tea since I am more of a omg-I-can't-take-a-break kind of reader. But it's a very well written clean romance with little drama. Of course I want to know what will happen to Jackson and Lexie since we were left with an open ending, though. :)

What a wild ride! I want book 2 right now, pretty please????? What in the world will be in store for Jack and Lexie? Two broken souls brought together and thrown together and back apart over and over again. This book is so amazing as they help each other heal in many ways. Jack teaches Lex to loosen up and live again and gets that heart beating again, and the whole novel I just kept thinking "kiss dang it. Just do it. You are killing me here!" I haven't felt that much angst since I was a teenager myself. Then, Lex tries to heal his leg and injuries, and she encourages him to be a better man. Where or where is book 2? Susan, send it to me now!

Before anything else, let me say that this is the 1st book in a 2-book story arc. But the good news is that book 2 is already out so you won't have to wait to find out what happens next. And I'm so darn thankful for that fact because I would've been seriously pissed if I had to wait for the second book to be published because I freaking loved this romance! I couldn't stop reading and binge-read both books in one day. ❤️😊

Reasons why I loved these 2 books (I can't just review book 1 alone!):
> It's a slow burn, sweet, clean, and low-angst love story between a country music star and his physical therapist. I am such a fan of the rockstar/music star-who-falls-in-love-with-a-"muggle" or a normal human being. I am also a fan of slow-burn stories. The 2-books span the course of a little over 4 months and Lexie and Jack's romance also builds progressively, from friendship to everlasting love.

> I loved reading about the every day details of life while on tour as I'm a fan of learning about the behind the scenes stuff.

> I loved that Lexie had some insecurities about herself and imo, her worries about getting together with Jack were very authentic. I could totally relate to her.

> I loved that this was not an insta-lust book. I hate books that are all about the sex and the story is an afterthought written to fit around the smut. This is so NOT the case with this story. This is not to say that the book is lacking romance --- because gosh, there are so many heart-tugging, swoony moments.

> I loved how Jack courted Lexie. I would die if someone did the things Jack did for her. ❤️❤️❤️ Jack is definitely on my list of fave book boyfriends.

> I loved that there are many details about their PT sessions. Susan Daugherty is a PT herself and her knowledge about the subject was clear in the book. This, imo, made Lexie's character more authentic, more real. I also loved the PT details mainly because I've had the same injury that Jack did and so reading about all the PT explanations was very interesting to me because it was all so familiar and I could relate to what was happening in the story.

> I loved reading the song lyrics of Jack's songs!

Both books are definitely going on my re-read shelf!

***
Reasons why I think others might NOT like these 2 books:
> Like I said, this book is a s-l-o-w burn and clean... as in super slow and almost Sweet Dreams clean... as in no there's virtually no profanity and no sex happens until book 2 and when they finally "get it on", it's only alluded to, so please be warned. It's so clean and sweet that I'd totally be comfortable if my 14/15 yr old niece read the books.

> As I mentioned above, the author takes you on an almost daily journey of the tour. She goes into a lot of details about Jack's PT and what Lexie and Jack do in a day (i.e. what they eat, the cities they visit, his meetings/rehearsals/schedule). Others may find this dragging/boring but I liked reading about all the minutiae... and that could also be a matter of personal preference: as knowing about the behind the scenes stuff is totally my jam. 👍🏻☺️

I have to say that I truly enjoyed reading this book. Groupie is a story about 2 characters, Lexie and Jackson, that are thrown together in the most unusual of circumstances. It is crazy the kinds of shenanigans a physical therapist and a country crooner can get into when trying to finish up what's left of a headlining tour surrounded by band members, VIPs, managers, family, assistants, women, and plenty of alcohol and temptation? - believe me, lots can happen.

One thing is for sure though, both Lexie and Jackson challenge each other - but is that enough to keep a friendship and a budding romance from going south?!

Check out Groupie to get a fresh taste of Lexie and Jackson and all the fun extras that make up this great tale of stepping outside of one's comfort zone and experiencing the heartfelt emotions that come with taking chances.

What a fun book! The storyline was really entertaining and Susan did a really good job with character development throughout the book. Lexie, a physical therapist, hired to treat VIP patient Jack, one of the most popular country singers in the country, after an accident while on tour. Even though she wasn't a fan, they have some serious chemistry. Can they keep things professional or will that chemistry and emotions get in the way?
There are lots of emotional moments in the book - happy, sad, silly, fun, frustrating...
I'm really looking forward to the second book in this series. Definitely a series to read!

Groupie is a well written romance with all the elements that make up a good enough read. There's angst, there's struggle, unrequited feelings, push and pull, a bit of fun and loads of music. We have our heroine, who has stopped believing in the possibility and reality of a true love or a soul mate and we have this beautiful playboy hero who has lived a life of stardom and all the vices that come with it. Even though they are from two different worlds and do not hit it off at the first sight, they gradually learn to accept each other.
First the good things, well, one thing that really ticks me off about other books is that the characters either keep their feelings inside or don't suck it up to know when they are wrong and should apologize for their behavior, but not when it comes to this book. In this book, the characters are mature enough to realize their shortcomings and mistakes and are brave enough to make amends. A slight misunderstanding and delay in doing so is what results in the rift that develops between the two main characters, after having gone through so much, both together and on their own. But I am pretty hopeful that they'd settle it out in the next installment because that's what these Lex and Jack do, they communicate.
Now what didn't sit too well with me, the book took forever to kick off as far as I was concerned. The interactions between both the characters started soon enough but the build for their chemistry was, if not slow, a bit "unrealized". It was hard for me to keep going as I do with other books. But that changed once the book took a new "route"!
All in all a well written book about two people who start to rebuild and relearn things about themselves and their surroundings after they happen to come across each other by chance. It's a story of devotion and taking chances, of reinvention by going back to basics and finding peace in simpler things.
I give this book a 3.75 stars and thank the author for providing me with an ARC so as to give me the opportunity to make this story a part of my life.

2.5 STARS

This book was somewhat underwhelming and a bit frustrating.
Underwhelming because the first chapters were different from all of the rock star romances I've read so far and because Lexie's profession is not common in romance novels. The potential was enormous, but in the end, the story was slow paced almost to the point of feeling like it was being stretched and not much happened, besides Lexie complaining about Jackson's previews conquests.
I wished the main characters were a bit more developed like the supporting characters seemed to be.
And speaking of supporting characters, I'd love to see a book about Andy and Kate.

While this book won't become one of my all-time favorites, it was a light read and I enjoyed it, even with all the slut-shaming and Lexie's clear aversion to everything groupie-related.

A copy of the book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked this book. The synopsis paints a good picture of what the reader can expect. The writing style was great and the overall pacing of the story was nice. I appreciated the level of detail that went into both the PT and music/tour aspects of the story.

Lexie is smart, opinionated and at times vulnerable. Jackson was not without flaws but I liked him almost instantly. I loved the banter between the two of them as well.

The end does seem to come around quickly though. As I was reading, I definitely started to get nervous because the page numbers were disappearing and I wasn’t sure that it was coming to a good stopping point. The story doesn’t end on a cliffhanger but you will definitely want to read the next book.

4 stars because I really liked the story and the characters. Looking forward to the next one.

Lexie is a physical therapist whose past has reeked havoc on her confidence and is not willing to let herself fall. But one night with her best friend changed all that when she meets country singer Jack Morgan. She hated him just as much as she is attracted to him.

Unexpectedly Lexie becomes Jacks physical therapist and is on trout with him. Jack doesn't understand how for the first time ever a woman is not falling at his feet.

This was such a great book it was so much more than a romance book and had so much substance to it. It was a great introduction to a new author that I look forward to reading more from and can't wait to read Muse.

A very slow burn romance between Jackson and Lexie. Actually, it's so slow paced that it linger dangerously close to the point of being boring.

Ends with a cliff hanger and with an unresolved storyline.

I’m used to the sexy bad boy musicians I read about being Rockstars. Loud music, guitar riffs, banging drum solo’s, never did I expect to read about a country singer and find that hell yer…….he’s sexy to! Jackson Morgan totally blew my perceptions of what a country singer would act and look like to pieces.
Lexie Travis and Jackson Morgan are thrown together after he is involved in an accident whilst performing at one of his concert venues, a concert that Lexie just happens to be attending, not of her own free will of course. Lexie can’t stand Jack and his music and playboy ways, her best friend and roommate, Ashley, loves Jack and won tickets to his concert so Lexie is dragged along.
It’s the day after the concert and following some suspicious behaviour from her two bosses, Dr Grey and Dr Brevins, Lexie discovers Jack is hidden away on a dementia ward in the hospital recovering after surgery. The accident at the concert means Jack now has pins and plates in his ankle and needs extensive Physical Therapy. Lexie has been selected to assist him but it all has to be kept secret. Despite Despising Jack, Lexie can’t help but be attracted to him and it flusters her. She soon learns Jack is not who she thought he was, based on her first assumptions.
Soon enough Jack’s location is leaked and the press and fans descend on the hospital. For his safety Jack is moved and Lexie is asked to treat him off hospital grounds. Issues arise as Jack is actually mid tour and the longer he stays for treatment, the more concerts that are having to be cancelled, he needs to be back on the road.
The issue is, Jack still needs to be seeing a physical therapist, numerous times daily. The only solution and after a lot of coercing and persuasion later, Lexie is packing to go on tour with Jack for four months, to treat him on the road. Being away from her best friend and life, growing attractions, groupies, ex-lovers, physical therapist hating managers and fame are a lot to contend with. Can Lexie remain professional in her career as Jack’s therapist as lines to start to blur along the way? Can Jack really change his ways and make Lexie his woman, or is it a case of once a playboy, always a playboy?
I was kind of conflicted by this book at points. It went from 3 sweets, to 3.5 sweets to a solid 4 sweets to me buying the second book immediately after finishing this one so I can carry on reading Jack and Lexie’s story.
The blurb was so enticing to me. A sexy playboy musician and a physical therapist who hates everything he represents, having to stay in close quarters. The tables turn and circumstances and personalities are not true to how they are  originally perceived, so this then makes for a storyline of conflicting emotions and indecision, keeping you on your toes and wondering what will happen next.
I love Jack’s character. He isn’t who you expect him to be. He has his reasons for his behaviour but something about Lexie really gets to him. He’s writing more than ever, trying to continue a career with a debilitating injury to recover from, knowing that a lot of people are relying on him both for work and to be entertained. There is a thoughtful and protective side to him that surfaces and he can be one smooth operator.
Lexie, I understand why she is conflicted with everything, knowing her back story, but she is so back and forth. In book number two, I would love for Lexie to grow a back bone and live her life for her, not being dictated by others opinions and doing what she is told to do.
Groupie started off a little slow for me, hence the up and down with the sweet rating that I mentioned. It was a little like the storyline was on repeat, going in circles, but then there was a break in the circuit and it felt like it kicked in. We had some jealousy and drama. Some fun times. The ending wasn’t what I expected, I was nearing 100% on my Kindle and I was like no, no, no, it can’t end like this……then I discovered there was a book number two and the knots in my tummy settled a little, I was getting more Jack and Lexie and hopefully the conclusion that I am hoping for in my head. I hope the pace that I came to enjoy with the story continues and we are graced with an exciting conclusion to Jack and Lexie’s story.
Groupie is written from the female point of view, and I did enjoy Susan’s style of writing, the beginning just got a little lost, but once the plot thickened, I was easily able to create the imagery in my head of the characters and the storyline and became entranced, like I said I hope this continues on throughout book #2, Muse.
There are quite a lot of secondary characters to this book, we haven’t really gotten to know Jack’s band members too well but Lexie’s best friend Ashley and Jack’s assistant Andy feel like they have their own stories brewing and I would totally read their books.

Due to a typo after reading this book last night my star rating erroneously was captured as a 4 star - Sorry folks, it is a 2 Star read for me - Lexie sees Jack Morgan in concert even though she hates his lyrics and under dressed dancers while touring his second album - Lexie is a Dr of Physical Therapy and when Jack is hurt after inviting fans on stage the good Dr runs out of the building with her best friend Ashley. This is where my dislike for Lexie begins. You are in the Medical profession and when a lighting beam falls on the stage, you run instead of even remotely offering assistance or waiting around to see if anyone else was hurt. So you can guess where this is going. The Hospital assigns Jack to Lexie for his PT and it's all hush hush, Lexie immediately lets Jack know what she thinks of him and his "groupies" - Let me just say that this whole premise is laughable - Lexie pins the Country Star as the biggest whore around due to his fans and his lyrics encouraging women to throw themselves at him. A more judgmental bitch I have never read and look it up I have read a lot and 95% are rock star books. When Jack's Manager Amos tells Jack that most of the tour can be salvaged, Jack & the Hospital comes up with an offer to send Lexie on the road with Jack as his personal PT with an enormous bonus for the Hospital & Lexie. Thus begins the train wreck, Jack takes to heart the criticisms Lexie throws out and starts making changes to his music and stage show, Jack for his part is the only reason this book got 2 stars - He is really trying, romantic, kind and for some reason quickly p*ssy-whipped into listening to the high & mighty Lexie . When Jack makes her Birthday special during his concert, her bosses contact her regarding her unprofessional behavior that was captured on YouTube, FB etc so Lexie immediately puts the brakes on the relationship, leaving Jack out of the decision and has the gall to get thoroughly pissed at him when she finds him drunk off his ass and in a bunk with 2 groupies, so see Jack is everything she thought he was - ugh Not Quite - He is terribly hurt by her and she gets on her throne and tells him that maybe they could go back to being friends. Jack throw her off the bus and hire a guy PT. Oh yeah it ends with nothing resolved so of course there is book 2 Muse - Which I am going to read - just because I am a believer in redemption and I want to see if that miracle regarding Lexie will happen.

Groupie by Susan Daugherty is the first book in a two book duo focused around Jack and Lexie. You will definitely want to read Muse which is part two right after finishing Groupie because it ends in a cliffhanger. Susan Daugherty is a new author to me and I breezed through Groupie. Susan sucks you in and keeps you up late at night to see what fun Jack and Lexie will have.

Jack is a country music star and Lexie is a Doctor and their paths collide when Jack is injured. This was a storyline I don't think I have come across before which was refreshing. This story is what I would consider a slow burn book where the emotional buildup takes a while before the physical connection takes flight. There was actually minor physical contact in the entire first book between the two. This is a slow moving path of discovery for Jack and Lexie. While Jack has to recover physically and Lexie emotionally they seem to slowly work on it together. Lexie quickly gets tossed into Jack's world with some good and bad adjustments. I especially loved how at each concert Jack had a surprise for Lexie definitely gives you the feels. The side characters are fun and some you will love and laugh with and others you will despise. I would have rated this a 5 star but I think the daily detail of Jack's treatment was too much. I felt a lot of that could have been skimmed over because it was repetitive. Although the book was still amazing and a must read.

The ending is what got me. The emotion the author details was gut wrenching and really makes you feel the heartache. I won't ruin it but she can write a tear jerking ending. Another reason you want to clear your calendar to dive right into Muse!! Pick this one up!!

So romance and country music aren't two things I typically reach for when it comes to books, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one! 3.5 stars.

* It's set in Knoxville and it was really fun to read about landmarks that I know and love.
* Jack and Lexie's first meeting is hilarious - the author painted such a great image of that debacle and it really set the tone for their relationship, laying out their best and worst qualities from the start.
* Lexie is a PT and I really liked hearing about her work. I was also glad for a strong female lead.
* The descriptions of the tour bus and Jack's life were really interesting to me. Not sure how much research the author did here, but the fact she didn't gloss over the details made it more realistic and allowed me to create a stronger mental picture of the tour bus, stage, etc.

Dislikes -
* Cliffhanger! I knew it was a duet going in, but was still bummed when the big thing happened and I knew I didn't have enough pages left to get resolution. However, will definitely be picking up book #2 to find out what happens.
* There was so much chemistry between Jack and Lexie - I wish there had been more of that vs. the cautious does s/he like me back and forth. Maybe in book #2? At the same time, this felt very true to both Lexie's character given her relationship background and Jack's, given his new side.

Overall, a fun fast read that I ran through in about 24 hours. This would be a fun beach read! I'll definitely be picking up Muse to see how this story ends.

Groupie was a book that sounds great in the blurb and actually follows through.
We meet country star Jack Morgan who makes a stupid decision and ends up in the care of PT Lexie Travis.

I loved the easy banter between them and how this was a true enemies-to-lovers book. Lexie is not a fan of Mr Morgan when she first meets him and an early misunderstanding just makes the situation more awkward and I love it 👀

Next thing you know, through scheming of higher ups that don't think Lexie should have a say in her own career, Lexie's forced to go on tour with Jack to keep up with his PT. Nightmare come true.

Jack on the other hand doesn't seem to immediately hate this situation, whilst not as involved with the higher up scheming, is not only the VIP in question but a tiny tiny bit of a sleazebag when we first meet him. That's not to say he's not charming and sweet, however he is what you'd expect from your typical famous male that likes women and is allowed to be openly sexual (read deviant).

I loved the supporting characters and I really think that they'd be a great cast t expand on, this is part of a duet so hopefully Muse continues their stories!

As a duet it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger so I don't really want to discuss too much of the plot but dude, that ending I did not see coming. Well towards the end I did but when I started? Heck no! Muse is the next book in this duet and I need it to see if there's anyway back from this 😱

Rating: 4 stars

Groupie by Susan Daugherty was such a sweet romance story to read. Yes, I could see some parts coming but in a way don’t you read a book hoping it will play out like you want? What was great about Groupie was that I could tell Susan Daugherty really enjoyed writing Lexie and Jackson. That is always a wonderful thing because there is an abundance of emotion in the story.
After an accident at Jackson’s concert leaves him injured and in need of a physical therapist, Lexie finds herself thrown into his world. Not only is she not a fan of Jackson’s but also not a fan of his groupies. However, Lexie is determined not to let Jackson get to her even through he is a hot country singer. Travelling with him on his tour so she can continue his PT, Lexie starts to find herself falling for him.
Jackson is hard to figure out at first. Does he like Lexie or is he toying with her like all his groupies? It is actually fun to read how he reacts to Lexie because she does not care for his music and is not a fan of him at all. Jackson, I liked, hated, liked, then loved. I really was on the roller coaster of feelings with Lexie.
This is an easy read and slow paced but a great first book with a cliffhanger that got me! I cannot wait to read the next book!

This author writes with a wonderful sense of humor, ie: “it wasn’t a natural disaster, it was worse; a country music concert.” Howling! I’m not a big fan of country music myself but I really enjoyed this book.
Dr. Lexie Travis is a ‘take me as I am’ kind of girl, full of swagger and pluck. I like that she’s got flaws and reservations about falling in love, and doesn’t believe in the everlasting kind. She doesn’t seem like a character, she seems like a real girl.

Country music singer Jack Morgan is a lure and a trap. In some ways he is the love interest you don’t want her to have and in others, he’s just what the doctor (should have) ordered.
The characters are fully developed, sympathetic and relatable. Their lives and ambitions are complex and support the plot structure.

When the tour started back up -- I thought the plot was going to go in a predictable direction but was happily surprised that I was wrong. The story has enough turns to keep the reader engrossed and turning the pages. And there are nice ‘moments’ as well as humor peppered throughout. I especially liked the scene where they’re watching a video together of her dancing (despite the injury). It was really sweet.
This is a delightful, messy and realistic romance that's easy to recommend for all ages.

Groupie is one of those stories that every girl wishes was her real life. Lexie, the smart, love-shy physical therapist gets thrown into the world of a promiscuous country super star, only to realize there is more to him than his sordid reputation. The drama, pacing, and emotional struggles in this book are gripping and so easy to get lost in. At times I felt my heart tug. Other times I felt frustrated (in a good way!). When Jackson sang his second to last meaningful songs, I thought my heart might burst. And when things went awry at the end of the story, my heart broke alongside the main characters. A true sign of a great book is how deeply it can make you feel. This book has all the feels, which effortlessly seeped from the pages to effect me, the reader.

For fans who love a good contemporary romance story, and for those just getting started in the genre, this one is for you. I have already purchased book two, and am so thankful that the story doesn't end here. I need more Jackson and Lexie, and I need more of this intoxicating world to escape into.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book. This is the first book I've read from this author and it wasn't bad.

It was basically a physical therapist, Lexie, that had this close minded attitude about a famous country singer, Jack. She basically judged him without really getting to know him first based on his popularity. Jack gets hurt and Lexie is his therapist. He's immediately attracted because he remembers her from one of his concerts.

Lexie tries to keep it professional and she did for a very longtime until Jack was hard to resist. Jack had great company except for Amos who I despised and Lexie had great friends.

This books end in a cliffhanger which I'll have to read just to see if her attitude changes but at times she came across as so negative. Jack was great.

I didn't expect to like this so much but I was completely hooked from the beginning. There are so many things that I loved that I can't even begin to list them. I enjoyed the refreshing change of rock star to country star and the use of classic country songs. However, I thought I would share some country songs that I thought fit the story:
Who I Am With You by Chris Young
How Not To by Dan & Shay
In Case You Didn't Know by Brett Young
Just a Kiss by Lady Antebellum
Here Comes Goodbye by Rascal Flatts

I might add more in the future. LOL.
