About the author

Ketil Bjørnstad is a Norwegian pianist, composer and author. Initially trained as a classical pianist, Bjørnstad discovered jazz at an early age and has embraced the emergence of "European jazz".

He is an artist on the ECM record label, but has also published some 20 books (predominantly novels) and a number of poetry and essay collections.

Even if this book can be read as a novel, it is primarily a literally reconstruction of his life based upon all available material.

Ketil has done a remarkable research on thick files, texts, notes and sketches, all thanks to the Munch Museum in Oslo.

A wonderful book, hard to read at times, as the book doesn't contain chapters.
