The Cold War created some strange partnerships.
Oscar Dinard became disenchanted with US foreign policy and resigned his CIA post to join forces with his Chilean Marxist friend, Enrique Santora. Their objective was to wrestle the highly profitable copper mining industry from the hands of foreigners and return ownership to the Chilean people. It grew into even greater challenges and eventually became a serious game of chess between them and Chilean politicians supported by the Johnson and Nixon administrations in Washington.
