This book has been written specifically to cover the Unit 'Financial Statements of Limited Companies' which is mandatory for the revised (2016) AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting.
The book provides a clear text that includes: case studies, chapter summaries, and key terms to help with revision. Each chapter also has a wide range of activities, which are excellent preparation for the computer-based assessment.
Chapter titles: 1. Purpose of Financial Statements 2. Introduction to Limited Company Financial Statements 3. Published Financial Statements of Limited Companies 4. Accounting for Assets 5. Accounting for Liabilities and the Statement of Profit or Loss 6. Statement of Cash Flows 7. Interpretation of Financial Statements 8. Consolidated Financial Statements
Good overall, but a bit vague in some areas e.g. Consolidated Statement of Profit and Loss is a bit short on detail, and the answers don't explain all issues with Other Income. Feel I'm being a bit generous giving 4 stars when 7/10 would have been more accurate. There are also common themes in many of the IAS regarding recognition and measurement which could make it easier to present than trying to memorise a dozen separate accounting standards.
