Fire & Rescue Shifters #3

Firefighter Griffin

Rate this book
A curvy single mom burned by love + a unique half-eagle, half-lion shifter firefighter with a wounded soul + the little boy who brings them together = one heart-warming romance!

Single mom Hayley Parker has always had to face every parenting challenge on her own — but when her five-year-old son unexpectedly turns into a lion cub, she finds herself with more than she can handle. With her little boy stuck up a tree and yowling for help, the only thing she can think to do is call the fire department…

Ex-firefighter Griffin MacCormick has the heart of a lion and the eyes of an eagle — literally. As a unique shifter with two inner animals, his battling beasts are slowly tearing his body and soul apart. Forced to retire from the elite all-shifter Alpha Team by his degenerative condition, he struggles to be content working as a dispatcher… until one day he takes a call that will change his life.

When Griff meets Hayley, both his lion and his eagle instantly recognise her as their one true mate. But how can he ask Hayley to risk her heart on a dying man, when she’s already been abandoned once in the past? And when Hayley’s arrogant lion shifter ex unexpectedly reappears on the scene with a horrifying demand, how can Griff protect his mate and her cub?

This is a sizzling hot, standalone BBW lion/eagle shifter full-length novel. No cliffhangers!

My favorite so far! Griff and Hayley are golden and Danny is so adorable. The antagonist was horrible and I kinda wonder if he and the country he's from will play another role in the following books. 🤔🤔 I couldn't put this one down and I can't wait to read more, this series is getting more and more addictive. Even though the ending was a little obvious 😂

My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.

I continue to enjoy this series. I will say I was a bit surprised by this story. Griffin works at dispatch for the fireteam. He is a shifter, just like the rest of alpha team. He makes sure that they get sent to the incidents that require their “special” abilities. I’m trying to remember if it was mentioned in the previous books about why he wasn’t able to work out in the field with the rest of the team. I can’t remember, but I don’t think so.

Well, Griffin isn’t healthy. He is half eagle shifter and half lion shifter. Most people who are hybrids end up shifting into one species or the other. Griffin had both, but couldn’t shift into either. Both of his animals fought in his head and their instincts pulled him in different directions. But when a call comes in where a woman says her son turned into a lion and was stuck up in a tree, he knows he has to do something (not to mention get things under wraps, because the world at large doesn’t know about shifters). Alpha team is busy on another call. So Griffin, who’s shift was over anyway, decided that he could help get the cub down.

Hayley is a single mom. She got pregnant and the father never wanted anything to do with the kid. She was okay with that. She is also a school teacher from the states, now living in the UK. She knows nothing about shifters, so you can imagine her horror when her son shifts into a lion cub and the proceeds to get himself stuck in a tree.

So this is a really cute story. I really liked Hayley and her son, Danny. Danny takes to Griffin instantly. I think the fact that he understands the kid’s shifter side really helps. That is until his dad realizes that Danny can shift and decides that he should have Danny. There is a legal battle, alpha challenge battles and more. Just an overall cute story. I also liked what happens with Griffin in the end too.

Narration
I continue to enjoy Lucy Rivers narration of the series. She does several different accents, mostly British and Scottish, since it takes place in the UK. She does well with Danny’s little kid voice. He is a five year old boy, if I remember correctly. There are a lot of men and she does a good job with them too.

**I like to thank the publisher for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This might be the best one, yet. I enjoyed this even more than Chase' book, even though I adore Chase!
A single mother of a newly shifter lion cub and a Griffin who couldn't shift. It was interesting if somewhat predictable. Nevertheless I enjoyed it. Looking forward to John's book.

3 stars.

This book is normal length compared to the previous 2 books. The audiobook is almost 8 hours whilst the previous ones were around 4 hours.

Our hero Griffin, who has an eagle mother and lion father, can't shift because of his duelling animals. Then he meets our heroine (who didn't know her ex-lover was a shifter) and her lion cub and knows that they are his mate and pride. But when the ex-lover lion comes back, he had to submit because of his inability to shift and protect them.

It seems to take ages before the story gets to the logical conclusion where he is able to merge his dual animals together into the mystical griffin. Regardless, I'm a sucker for a lion cub and Danny is cute (he calls his lion Simba). So all in all, I enjoyed it.

Amazing! I have loved both previous books in this series and this book kept the momentum going! Sweet, charming, heart breaking, sexy, and fun. This has everything to make a fantastic shifter story, including plenty of visits from our friends in the previous books. A top read of the year for me and I absolutely recommend to paranormal romance fans. I can't wait to re-enter this world with the next book!

If you handed this book to a scholarly poet in the 1008s, they would have been wiped off the planet Thanos style.

After reading the first two books in the series, this one was refreshing and much better, the plot is more complex and the characters more mature. Even if we know where it is heading (it wasn't as obvious as the previous book in the series, but we did know what the end result was going to be), we don't know what the journey is going to be, and we can enjoy it. Another thing I liked is that it shows flawed characters, how things are not really white and black, there are a lot of grays, and even the bad guys have their good side.

It was a great way to redeem the series.

I found Firefighter Griffin from the Fire & Rescue series by Zoe Chant a delightful and light paranormal shifter novel with an engaging story with fairly complex and fascinating characters - particularly the MMC/Griffin MacCormick who has both an inner lion and an eagle inside his mind; who fight constantly. Their fighting causes not only great mental pain for Griffin, but also the inability for him to shift into either his lion or his eagle. FMC/Hayley is a human single mom with a young son, Danny. Hayley calls the local Fire Dispatch for assistance when Danny shockingly shifts into a lion cub and leaps high into a tree. As a Fire & Rescue dispatcher, Griffin receives Hayley’s panicked call, understands this is not a normal emergency and goes out to assist Hayley with Danny. Other characters from the 2 previous novels enter into Griffin’s story as each is a member of the East Sussex Fire & Rescue Services, but this novel can be read as a stand-alone without any difficulty.

Fire Fighter Griffin is the 3rd book in the Fire & Rescue series and my favorite story so far. I loved the complexity of Griffin’s shifter character and how his shifting difficulty was resolved. Part way through the book, I even doubted he would get his HEA. I look forward to reading the next book in the series - Fire Fighter Sea Dragon. There are 7 titles in this series at this time.

Although I found Fire Fighter Griffin a light and fun paranormal novel, it does contain steamy - fairly explicit - sexual intimacy between the 2 main characters. Those who find this offensive probably would not enjoy it.

This is an excellent story with a new kind of shifter from the amazing Zoe! I love how protective Griffin was of Danny within minutes of meeting him! I fell in love with Danny! He is just so adorable! Hayley and Griffin are a fantastic couple that are both fiercely loyal, willing to let each other help in times of weakness and draw on each other for strength and support!

One of my favorites by Zoe Chant!

Connected

My favorite so far. I felt connected to Hayley being a mom and love how she reacted to having a lion shifter cub. There was a lot of angst throughout the story especially as Griffin got sicker, but it was easy to predict how he could eventually shift.

This review and more at I Wish I Owned A Bookstore.

This book starts with a lion cub caught up a tree. It’s adorable and I had so much fun reading this. It’s the story of a single (human) mum who’s kid turns into a lion cub, and the (half-lion half-eagle shifter) firefighter who comes to her rescue. This is a perfectly sweet and steamy true-mates story, complete with a jealous ex, and a crew of mythical beast shifters.

I read this book in two days, because it was just so much fun. I liked the characters and the different POVs. There were enough complications to keep things interesting with the custody battle, and with Griff’s two shifter animals tearing him apart from the inside. Hayley and Griff are both really good people, and Danny (the lion cub) is a total sweetie. Such a great ending too.

If you’re looking for a light-hearted but still juicy shifter romance, then you really can’t go wrong with this one. Especially if you’re into firefighters! With sexy Scottish accents 😉

This is technically number 3 in the series, but I read it as a standalone, which is totally fine. It’s a complete story of Hayley and Griff’s romance, but if you're interested in any of the other characters in the firefighting shifters crew, then there are 6 more in the series.

At war with himself
What an awesome book! This book is the embodiment of finding an inner peace between all of yourselves. Okay, this may actually read more like a multiple personality. But in the end it took one moment of intense desire to bring the kind of inner solidarity that most people never find. I love the way this book took us on a journey through such emotional turmoil to a HEA that had me crying in relief. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Don’t come for me, but maybe I didn’t read the same book as all the 4/5⭐️ reviews. I kept getting targeted ads on IG and finally gave this one a shot, it was short and a good time filler and mildly entertaining but that’s it - sorry!! It was super cheesy, but I like cheesy so it didn’t bother me too bad, It just didn’t excite me in anyway and nothing was surprising to me, even with the turns of events.

I was on a Sci Fi binge now I am on a Paranormal shifter binge and that is how I came across Zoe's books. Once I find an author whose books I like I will read them all and let me tell you Zoe has a lot. They are quick and easy reads. Some serious some make me laugh but all have danger and fated mates.
I enjoy paranormal stories as they take you away from everyday life and anything goes.

Outstanding story!

I was completely hooked from beginning to end. From the, “My son turned into a lion cub and went up a tree.” to the steamy, romantic ending. The characters are unique and relatable even for mystical beings.

I started on the third book in this series. Now to go back and start from the beginning.

Another great one....

I love this series so much. I loved how Griff and Haley just clicked. It was great to see how Griff accepted danny and wanted to be in their lives. I can't wait to read about Hugh or ash next, there is so many questions about them that need to be addressed

Reviewed at Shifter Haven

Firefighter Griffin has that just right combination of sadness and despair countered by hope and triumph in the end. It is an emotional roller coaster of a read and one that will keep you turning pages to discover how a happy ending can emerge from this chaos.

Griff is the dispatcher for the Fire & Rescue. Once a firefighter himself, now due to an injury he is maintaining his contact and works with the elite Shifter Alpha team of firefighters through another aspect, still important, his job as dispatcher. On this night he overhears a call that seems to be a prank, or at least that’s how his fellow dispatcher is treating it of a cat up a tree. But for some reason Griff gets an eerie feeling about it and gets the address to check it out himself. Little did he know that he was rushing to the rescue of a little boy he’d be proud to call his own and his mate.

Haley was an American working in England. Who knew that in this country the friendly firefighters got annoyed when one called for help getting your cat down from a high tree? Well, alright it wasn’t her cat but her son who was stuck up the tree but she knew the response that would have gotten her… hauled off to the crazy house herself. Pretty much at the end of her rope, hysterical and trying to control it for her son, Haley was gratefully surprised to see Griff enter her backyard and take control of the situation. How he knew that the lion cub up the tree was human she had no clue, but he looked at her with confidence and saved her little boy.

So begins Haley and Griff’s romance.. It is the skill of a very talented author who can make me cry true tears of sadness, frustration, anger and joy all in one story. To say this story is packed full of emotions is to say the Grand Canyon is a nice little rock formation.

You will absolutely hate Danny’s biological father. You’ll feel the love and passion between Haley and Griff. You’ll experience the bond between a boy and a man that equals, if not surpasses, a natural born father-son relationship. You will feel the tender, deep bonds of friendship and see just how far true friends will go for each other. You cannot help but feel Griff’s intense sense of freedom and joy when everything falls into place. By the ending you will be an emotional wreck and be thanking Zoe Chant for the experience.

I will not hesitate to say that I’ve yet to read a Zoe Chant story that I didn’t love. This one broke my heart and mended it so beautifully. I haven’t truly had a “favorite” of her works so far, I’ve enjoyed each one for it’s own merits… but if I did, Firefighter Griffin would top that particular list.

I read this story through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!

This cover is another attention grabber and of course I bought it.

This is the 3rd book in the series, and it is for adults only due to the steamy content. While you do not have to read all the books in order, you will be missing out if you don’t read them all and in order. You will quickly fall for the whole team!

I really loved this book! Griff is an amazing character who is easy to fall in love with, but I’ve had no trouble doing that with the whole squad. Every story is packed and grabs your attention and doesn’t let go. I couldn’t put the book down. I admire Hayley and think her son Danny are the perfect duo for Griff. You will not be disappointed with this HEA. I can’t wait to see whose story is next!

Zoe Chant has slid into my favorites list with her witty stories that pull me right into the story and have me gripped in the characters’ lives and lovin’ each and every one of them.

I highly recommend this book and the entire series to all the shifter fans who want to read about the mythic shifters who are a band of sexy firemen who will set your hearts on fire with their stories.

This is only the second book by Zoe Chant that I have ever read and I am looking forward to reading more. Ironically, the first book I read by her was about one of the children from the couple in this book (You can check out my review for that book here.) It wasn’t intentional, but this book was the first one to peak my interest in the Fire & Rescue Shifters series. I have no doubt I will go back and read the first two at some point though.

The Fire and Rescue Shifters series can be read as stand alone books and seeing as how I have started from book 3, it seems to be true. It doesn’t seem to be like other series I have read where they say the books are stand alone but if you don’t read them in order then the overarching plot will get all mixed up and you will be either confused, spoiled, or annoyed at a lack of concrete conclusion. So extra points to the book for that.

This book follows single mother Hayley Parker and Shifter Griffin MacCormick. There wasn’t anything too outstanding about Hayley as a character but that doesn’t mean she was boring. She could be quite fierce when it came to protecting her son and she could be equally as fierce when protecting Griff. I did like how she handled her sons father. While he wasn’t the greatest person, she made a conscious choice not to vilify him to their son and believed that even though he had abandoned them before their son was born, he still deserved a chance to get to know him.

I found Griff on the other hand to be quite interesting. Griff has two different animals inside him. An eagle and a lion. But instead of being able to take on two different shapes, Griff can’t shift at all due to the fighting between his two beasts. This has taken its toll on him physically, causing him chronic pain and keeping him from working as a Firefighter. We got to see Griff struggle through situations that would clearly be easily solved if he could only shift, but even with his limitations he does everything he can to keep Hayley and her son safe.

I found their relationship to be sweet, even with its ups and downs, and I loved Griff’s relationship with Hayley’s son. The characters in this book are all wonderful, but even if they weren’t the plot itself is enough to keep the pages turning.

Single mom Hayley calls fire and rescue to try to help her get her son out of a tree. Griffin is a shiftless shifter whom overhears the call. When he realizes what Hayley has on her hands he offers to help, instantly recognizing her as his mate. Griffin knows that he will never actually mate with her for three reasons: hes dying, he can't shift, and he has two animal souls fighting to take over. Griffin is rare in that he has an eagle and a lion inside his soul. When Hayley reaches out to her son's father for answers, he shows up causing problems. Will Hayley accept everything shifter-like? When everything he loves is threatened, will Griffin finally accept both animals before its to late?

Another Zoe Chant hit! Love the concept of Griffin not being perfect and having the three sides: his human, eagle, and lion sides, all agreeing on only one thing, Hayley. Would love to see John get his own story. Griffin pulled at my heart strings, he was determined to protect Hayley and Danny no matter what and in the end proved he was more than enough Alpha to do the job. I loved how after her initial shock Hayley accepted it all with no more than a shrug because I have a huge feeling Griffin felt left out with everyone else his whole life. Wanted to kill Reiner, BUT in a way its how he was raised and he was determined that he had to prove himself to his pride back on the island, even if I do disagree with how he went about it! Another great Zoe Chant story, can't wait for more!

The books are a nice and fast reads, recommendable if you try not to think too much. I gave this book just 2 stars and the first two book 3, because it has the same inconsistencies in the storyline and easy foreseeable plot, but the world built up is just plain stupid! Animals too stupid to listen to their host, fighting so hard they nearly kill each other for years???? Even worse than the dragons comparing their gold so every talented thief rises above any honest one. Having ash, who is able to burn anything, watch his friend die without frying at least one of the inner idiots? This series is working with secrets and lies absolutely untypical for the mostly likable characters and needs huge inconsistencies in the world building and plot to keep going... I will push the series back, can't stand it at the moment.
