Seventy generations ago, the angel Ramatel was cast into hell for sleeping with human women. Now he has returned to earth, harboring a vendetta against God, only to find himself strapped with a beautiful young apprentice. Will his grudge stop him from letting something good into his life?
Clara has been given a second chance to save her soul by working with her chauvinistic mentor who has antiquated ideas of gender roles. She bucks his authority at every chance, until she has to face the very situation that killed her the first time. Does she have what it takes to face her fear?
Caution: This book contains scenes that are intended for mature readers only.
Joel Crofoot was raised in northern New York state on a large family sheep farm, then left home to join the United States Marine Corps at 18 years-old. After spending four years in Japan as a radio operator, Joel re-enlisted into the bomb squad (explosive ordnance disposal) and was stationed out of California. Two tours to Iraq later, Joel decided to leave the Marine Corps to pursue higher education and graduated with a doctorate in psychology in July of 2017. In Joel's books you can expect a good mix of military experience and psychology wrapped into paranormal tales that will leave you wanting more!
Again, the angels find themselves fighting demons. This time they have to try and save babies from a solstic sacrifice. In between all of this, Ramatel, a fallen angel trying to adjust to life outside of hell is flung into disarray when Clara enters his life. She is sent to him by the Father as part of a penance. As time goes on, their relationship gets stronger.
The story revolves around redemption, love and loss... and the ever present demons. There are some good fights scenes and good sex scenes...hot, hot, hot!
The book itself is really well written. Fast paced and action packed. The characters are well thought out and structured. I recommend this to anyone who likes a bit of a genre mixture...as the has several rolled into one.
I think that I liked the sidekick, Clara, in Ramatel’s Vow more than I did Jahi from the first book in the series, Michael’s Passion. In book two, one of the fallen, Ramatel, suddenly finds himself with a woman to look after -- much to his annoyance and regret. What ensues of course is a roguish and stormy battle of wills as Clara does what she must to save her soul, despite the fact that the angel she’s paired with can’t stand the sight of her. In the process she saves more than herself. Ramatel has an understandable chip on his shoulder about women. After all, the last time that he slept with one, he wound up in hell, literally. The punishments he endured there left a lasting impact and he seriously resents the FATHER. The story if written in alternating POV’s which gives the reader insight into the struggle from someone who has seen too much, Ramatel, and from someone who doesn’t remember her past, Clara. Ramatel’s Vow is a fast-paced, compelling story laced with well placed erotica that many adult readers should find enjoyable. As a person who doesn’t read much in this category, I can honestly say that many fence-sitters will be seduced by Ramatel’s tale of redemption and Crofoot’s energizing writing style. The fictional world he has created where angels battle demons -- in addition to working on their own issues --is a strangely enthralling ride. And from the number of other angels living in Gabriel’s compound, I would expect there are many more sequels to come.
I've read all three books in this angels series but I have to say that this one was my favorite. There was something about the impossible struggle of Ramatel and Clara that pulled me in and I literally devoured this book in a day. One thing I really enjoy about Crofoot's writing is the depth of the characters and their intense stories of struggle and perseverance. Through flawed characters who make choices that are questionable and at times aggravating, he deftly lays out the humanity inherent in all individuals and the longing to be accepted and loved.
This story, like the others, is written in the point of view of the two main characters and their doomed from the start relationship. Ramatel is broken and scarred, both internally and externally. A man who chooses to see his flaws and deficits rather than the good he can bring to others, he's not ready to find love and is certain he doesn't deserve it. He's a bit of an ass until he meets his match.
Clara lost her life because of her decisions. Chosen to be given a second chance at redemption, she's thrown into Ramatel's lap and is completely overwhelmed and frustrated with his arrogance, anger, temper tantrums, and cold demeanor. She's strong and courageous, a fighter by nature, and I loved her character. She's a true heroine who doesn't back down. When threatened with her past and forced to deal with trauma, she finds her way to the truth and overcomes her obstacles. I love that she didn't need a man to do that.
It's a great love story set in the eternal struggle between good and evil, angels and demons. With all of his novels, Mr. Crofoot describes intense scenes of battle, immersing you into the story as if you are there. So descriptive. About as delicious as the steamy love scenes. That's another plus for this book. The sexual tug and pull, the tension, the seduction, are wonderfully written. And it's HOT. Like 5 alarm fire hot.
HIGHLY recommended that you read this series. One of the best I've stumbled across in a long time. 5 sexy intense stars!!!
Characters: 5/5 Plot: 5/5 Word Building: 5/5 Story Flow: 5/5
So considering I didn't read the first book in the series and I'm not normally a paranormal girl, I absolutely loved this book! The book begins and Ramatel finds himself in charge of looking after a young girl, Clara. He's not exactly too jazzed by this prospect either and it shows. But Clara is smart and is prepared to do whatever she has to do to save her soul on earth. Ramatel has a chip on his shoulder, especially about women. How will this translate to his relationship with Clara?
Clara learns how to fight and eventually she faces some demons of her own... even a super sexy one. Eventually Ramatel discovers how what an amazing fighter Clara is and brings his little chinfon along to fight some more demons. But was this a mistake?
This was an action packed, fast paced, fun and sexy story that I couldn't put down. The story flowed seamlessly and you really got a feel for what these characters were going through. Crofoot's incredible world of angels and demons sucks you in and doesn't let go until the very last page. I fully recommend this book for anyone who is a fan of paranormal and erotica. Very nicely done!
Actual rating 4.5 stars The book opens with Ramatel getting ready for a deadly combat with demons when a lightning struck behind him and a dainty girl emerged from it. She introduced herself as Clara and Ramatel was told that he has to take care of her. Things started to steam up between the two. While Clara succumbed to her caretaker’s charms, Ramatel had to resist falling for his chinfon to abide by the rules and vows he had made to himself. The book is hooking from the first chapter and Crofoot has succeeded in keeping the reader’s attention intact till the end. The descriptions are vivid and not only the protagonists but all the characters are well fleshed out in this paranormal romance. The two main characters of the book – angels - Ramatel and Clara both are likeable. Their chemistry was amazing. I loved the sweet romantic talks between the lead pair especially those on the rooftops.
“Do you really watch me undress?” He turned to look at her and she met his eyes. “Yes,” she replied, although she felt herself blushing as she said it. “Why?” She arched her eyebrows and smiled. “Because I like what I see.”
Scene transitions are impeccable. While the love scenes are steamy and erotic the fight sequences are violent and deadly. The plot is tightly woven and the story is fast paced, however the second half of the book did seem a bit of a drag to me especially the lengthy fight sequences between the angels, demons, and cronies. That said, the paranormal romance novella is a real page turner and an intriguing read with lots of passion, romance, tension, and excitement. Disclaimer - I received a free copy from the author without an obligation to review.
Wow! I adore Ramatel and I was happy that he was the point of view character. On the surface he appears hard and broken but the character is so well written, like an onion, with layers. 😉 And scars… did I mention I love a broken warrior. While there is a smoking hot romance between Ramatel and Clara this story has a lot more to it. That’s surprising considering the length but the pace is rip-roaring fast with action and conflict on every page. Demons, angles, missing babies, so much going on. Those external conflicts are intensified by the internal struggle of Ramatel as he tried to come to terms with his time in the pit and the broken relationship he has with God. This can be read without reading the first, which is also awesome. I absolutely can’t wait to read the next part. Fans of paranormal romance and paranormal thrillers will love this.
I pretty much devoured this entire book in one sitting, which I've never done before. The characters are engaging and I was loving all of them. The author hooks you from the beginning and lets characters reasonings be known as they need to be.
I actually got mad at the author towards the end and got upset over a certain scene, which I'm not going to spoil. It was a twist, and then it was resolved and I was happy again.
I haven't read the other books in the series, but plan on picking them up
The sequel is just as good at the first! So far I'm absolutely loving this PRA binge I've been on. #NoRegrets
The angel Ramatel is less than thrilled with his new chinfon, Clara. Let's just say that women have gotten him in trouble in the past with the big boss upstairs, and he's not exactly moved on from that grudge with daddy dearest...or with women. A few thousand years in hell will do that.
I really like the idea that angelic life is imperfect and sometimes downright ugly. Ramatel is angry, he's scarred, and he holds God himself responsible. He's condescending AF about women and angelic hierarchy, but Clara holds her own, and the back and forth between these two is smokin' hot!
For example: Clara: "Ask me nicely."
Ramatel:
Above: A timeline of me reading that scene.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series and was pleasantly surprised to find that the second lives up to the former. And I was glad to see Jahi in this one as well because I really liked her character. The book has a lot of action, steamy erotica, and it reads smoothly and quickly. I read the whole thing in one sitting last weekend. Looking forward to more!
Ramatel's Vow is the second book in, A Series of Angels and I can't wait for the third! Joel Crofoot knows how to weave a tale of intrigue, passion and forgiveness. This series is a must read for all you paranormal romance lovers out there.
Clara's connection with Ramatel is daunting but she needs to do whatever it takes to save her soul here on Earth. Albeit, putting up with his narrow-minded demeanor. Luckily, she befriends Jahi who takes her to the gym, where she finds out she must have been a fighter in her old life. After several shopping sprees and tons of sexy clothes, the two girls decide to go out dancing one night. Where Clara encounters a sexy demon of her own...
Ramatel doesn't take kindly to his chinfon in the beginning. In fact, he has no idea why Father would hand over this woman, other than to punish him. He can barely take care of himself let alone Clara! But after witnessing how good she is at fighting, he decides to take her along one night to hunt demons. It doesn't take long before he realizes what a mistake he's made when she comes face to face with her own death!
Ramatel is a tortured soul. Despite this he is also a bit of a romantic. He considers himself ugly (due to the scars he acquired while in Hell). Clara is an interesting character. She is feisty and stubborn. Ramatel thinks she is there to clean but she is actually there to fight! It was so awesome to see Michael and Jahi from the first book back again - and Gabriel, of course. Although Ramatel was very well developed I felt there was something about Clara that just didn't...work.
Plot
This is a paranormal romance. For sure chock full of sexual tension and I loved Ramatel. I was choked up a few times from the emotional scenes but as the book went on it eventually became repetitive. They kept making the same mistakes over and over. I get this was to show they are alike, but it was kind of irritating when it just kept happening. I actually started to resent Clara a little because of her reactions to Ramatel. It was like she was PURPOSEFULLY trying to misunderstand. That being said the secondary plot was interesting! I loved the twist and what came of it. For sure kept me interested. I read it over the weekend and was great to pick up and read through.
Overall
A great romantic novels. Well worth the read if you've read the first one. Even if you haven't, I still enjoyed it and would recommend it! There is a lot jam packed into the epilogue at the end. I think it was the longest chapter in the book. I think the author was trying to set up the next few books but it was a little overwhelming - so be warned. Despite the few drawbacks of this book I still loved it.
Virtually zero errors, easy to read, and great flow. The setting and characters were well set up and depicted. There was a good balance between the mystery surrounding Clara and the other secondary plot...which I won't go into detail on.

It was a really enjoyable book! A little repetitive on the romantic relationships side and Clara felt a little off throughout the book, but well worth the read just for Ramatel! Can't wait for the next one!
I received a copy in exchange of an honest review. More reviews at creatingworldswithwords.wordpress.com.
After coming to the end of her human life, Clara is whisked away to the realm of angels as a second chance at redemption. The only problem? She’s assigned to Ramatel, an angel who is snarky, rude, and has just recently been saved from Hell. As the story progresses, feelings begin to develop between the two but Ramatel is afraid to break his vow, afraid to get close to another being for fear of being hurt. As the tensions escalate and the two are put into a dangerous battle, the pair realizes what the other truly means to them once everything is put on the line.
Very fast-paced and enjoyable quick read for anyone who likes paranormal romance.
I like the premise of the book and Crofoot sure does know how to write steamy scenes. I hadn't read the first book but it was written in such a way that it didn't detract from this story. I have to say the mistakes were a bit distracting.
These are not your typical angels in white robes and feathery wings but fallen angels who look more like ultra fit sexy commandos in utility pants. The author take angels we're familiar with and turned them into brooding hotties with a shady past. Fun read and enough juicy parts to keep you turning the page to find out how it will end for Ramatel and Clara.
I think this one is my favourite of the series (that I have read so far - I jumped around a bit) Clara and Ramatel make an amazing couple and the HEA seemed extra satisfying somehow - I could relate so well to both main characters.
Itès a cold snowy day and this hit the spot warming things up by more than a few notches (that ending *fans self* Angel of Endurance indeed)
Ramatel's Vow by Joel Crofoot is a great read and fabulous series! I've read several books by Joel Crofoot and I've enjoyed every one of them. This one is no different! Well written, pulls you in quickly, hard to put down, fabulous characters and character growth! Bring on the next! Highly recommend!
I have become a fan of Joel Crofoot. I love the gorgeous angels and the sexy demons. Michael’s Passion was the first book I read and I was hooked from the start and Ramatel’s Vow was no different. I mean the storyline itself grips you. This yummy angel is cast into hell for getting down and dirty with human women. Now, he’s back but God has other plans for this fallen angel. Enter Clara, the pretty and kickass chinfon who was lucky enough to get Ramatel as her guardian. Clara needs to do everything in her power to save her soul, unfortunately for her, Ramatel wants nothing to do with her. The more this angry and scorned angel pushes her away, the more Clara wants everything to do with him. A moment of almost facing her own death has Ramatel changing his tune for the pretty Clara, and the pages get heated with their chemistry. Absolutely loved the story! It was romantic, sexy, and the characters and setting captivate you. These two are a kickass couple. An exciting thrill ride and a wonderful read, especially or those of us who love a little paranormal action in our romances.
I love this book as being some what religious and knowing the bible well, i can relate to God working miracles . I am looking forward to next book. Excuse spelling.
The book follows one of the fallen angels named Ramatel, who had a huge chip on a his shoulder. To add more salt to his wounds, a female by the name of Clara drops in on him and that just makes him flip out more into a tirade. And so bringing her to his brother Grabriel.
Trying to toss her onto him and get rid of her, Gabriel tells him " YOU'RE STUCK WITH HER" Aggravated with the new arrangements, Ramatel tries to be the "big-bad-guy" and tries to show Clara how terrible of a person he is and she should stay clear of him.....GET REAL!!!
The author does throw a twist in, with the two somehow finding a bit of an attraction to each other. For some odd reason when I read this series, I kept hearing the song by the Persuaders " It's a thin line between love and hate" play constantly. Throughout the book, I ran into Michael, Jahi, and the 3 Angeling's: Butator, Liwet, and Hamal. Also, I met Anachel but she is another mystery...SHHHH OOps guess you have to read the book.
Overall, it was an awesome read and I enjoyed it and I can't wait to read book 3....I have to find out what's the deal with Anachel and Gabriel...
Pick up this book and read it. you will LOVE every page of it.
The book is a fast-paced story about angels fighting demons and Ramatel’s love and loss.
Ramatel has his demons (no pun intended). The book opens with Clara literally landing before him, and both have to work towards redemption. They share a room and sparks fly. Ramatel is forced to take her under his wings, but Clara has other ideas. She wants to fight, and when she faces death (again), their relationship takes a turn.
What really puts the book above others is the wide emotional range. Ramatel has scars and—a bit self-conscious about them, and that adds to his insecurity. Understandably the last time he'd slept with a human woman, he'd ended up in hell. For being sent to hell, Ramatel has vowed not to speak to Him. And I always kept my vows and I’m not about to start breaking them now.
But to start a relationship with Clara, Ramatel has to ask Him permission. There lies the dilemma. Well, he does receive advice from Jahi, a female demon, whom I have sympathy for and who the ‘stuck up snobs’ of angels despise and sneer at.
It’s well written and an entertaining read. It strikes the right balance between plot/action and story/emotion. I look forward to the next book.
Ramatel is the main character who is really angry and grumpy. After being in Hell for seventy generations, his feelings are understandable. He's pretty angry at God for that, too. When he gets Clara as his chinfon to look after he's even more annoyed.
While Clara is there to save her sole she's not sure how to do that. Having Ramatel as her chinshen was not helping her either since he clearly didn't want her around and was not going to help her out. Even though Ramatel hoped to get rid of her and ordered her to do menial jobs Clara became a fighter. She was really good at that.
The author's expressive and emotional writing brings this story to life in a huge way. The fast-paced action kept me on my toes while the explosive chemistry between the characters ratcheted up the heat of the novel by several notches.
If you like romance - paranormal or not - you've got to read Ramatel's Vow. It's so much more than just a romance story. There's fighting, sex, danger, intrigue, and passion.
A great rough and romantic story of a rugged angel (Ramatel) who had been rescued from the depths of Hell, believing he was not good enough for another being, who happened to be a green-eyed beauty called Clara, because of all that happened to him. Ramatel tried to fight his feelings for Clara while she tried to get him to embrace them, for she had feelings for him too and ended up in love. Clara was in put in danger twice, the second time fatally, and Ramatel blamed himself both times and was determined to get her back, and luckily, Clara was granted a second chance to be with Ramatel from God/Him. I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who likes the genres it belongs to. Full of passion, romance, bloodshed and danger but also love, it was a great read. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from author Joel Crofoot.
"I'm not a good angel." Bitter, scarred, and angry, Ramatel has been burned literally in past relationships. Tossed into hell for a relationship with a human woman, Ramatel is not looking for love or even forgiveness from the father. Clara is dropped into his room, a lesser angel given a second chance for redemption, and is drawn to the big, scary, and scarred angel like a moth to the flame. Drawn into the fight between good and evil, Clara must battle demons and the angel, Ramatel, himself to find her HEA. This is a fast-paced, action packed read laced with enough heat to keep you enthralled until the end. I enjoyed the whole concept of the arch angels and the fallen angels and their interaction with the Father that combine for a rich and unique story line. My review is based upon a review copy from the author.
I am a big fan of paranormal romance having spent years reading about vampires, shifters, aliens, and angels. I’m not sure why I haven’t come across this series until now, but I am so glad I did. As soon as I started reading, I was swept away in this story. The characters are well drawn and seem to jump off the page. Ramatel is super sexy as the angel trying to redeem himself and Clara is compelling as a reborn woman trying to remember her past and tame the bad boy fallen angel. All the way through I was rooting for Ramatel and Clara to have their happily ever after and the story did not disappoint. I will definitely be reading more in the series!
Yet again another absolutely amazing installment to the series of Angles. I can not get over how eloquently put together the book is and how seemless the story is told.
You are transported into the world and actually feel as though are there among friends witnessing the story unfolf.
A story about the greater fighting the lowest of life. About feelings and passion. Showing that all creatures including angels has demons to fight. In more ways than one. An amazing read that has great chemistry and hot scenes. It is well written and the characters are well described. A story that is filled with drama, action, passion and it is fast paced.
Ramatel and Clara's story captivated me from the beginning. Can't wait for the next book in the series. Not sure who I want to be next. I want both Gabriel and Asael's stories. I will definitely be waiting to read the next story by Joel Crofoot.
