While the PK0-005 exam is going to be out soon and this is largely irrelevant i still wanted to review it. I passed the test today with a 776 (passing score 710). I think this book is a very good introduction to a lot of the material on the exam but it doesn't go into enough detail on some of the concepts like the differences between RFQ and RFIs, MOU and MOA and I think it should have gone into more with calculating critical path and forward and backward pass. That being said it is written in a very easy to understand language that is helpful if you don't have any experience going in. It also seems like its more written for a PMI test and doesn't use some of comptias terminology as often as PMIs which can be a little confusing and sometimes they have different definitions of things. Overall its a good book but I dont I'd have passed without the practice questions at the very least and possibly another resource. I also used the kaplan study bank as well as the sister practice question book. I feel like if you read this book the kaplan practice questions will overall be more helpful than the sybex since most of the material in the sybex bank this book covers pretty well and the kaplan bank goes over some stuff this book doesn't cover.

Kim Heldman did a great job on this book. I learned a lot of terminology and concepts about Project Management that are new to me, as I am not a Project Manager but am interested in possibly pursuing this (Project+) certification. Some, perhaps much, of the information in the book was hard for me to learn (I’m not a “rocket scientist”) … still, I enjoyed reading this book and think anyone wanting to learn more about PM or planning to pursue PM certification would surely find this book helpful and interesting. Next, I plan to read the companion “Practice Tests” book by Brett Feddersen that complements Kim’s book. After that I will try my hand at their companion practice tests that are online. I hope to be ready to decide whether I feel confident to test for certification by the end of May, 2021.

Great Study Tool

Overall this will help enhance your knowledge. The only critic I have is for the answers to be together with the questions after each chapter instead of the answers being in the back of the book. Its a preference thing though.

I'm taking my exam in 6 days, so I'll update this with more insight afterward.

As far as the writing goes, this is a solid study book. The subject matter is about as dry as it gets, but author Kim Heldman manages to keep the reader awake and learning with a mix of good information, interesting anecdotes (occasionally, but would love more of those), and some humor. I was impressed as I read how entry-level-friendly this all is.

UPDATE: I passed the Project+ exam, first try, with this as my sole and only study material. I read through it once. Awesome, bumped up to 5 stars from 4.

This was shorter than other books, so that's a positive. I liked the real world scenario sections, but there are issues with their quiz questions. Some are poorly worded, to the point that the answer is actually incorrect. Some questions have duplicate answers, so you get it wrong if you're taking the online quiz and choose a different selection. This made studying frustrating. The book in itself seemed straight forward, and I really hope it gets me to a point where I pass the exam.

This title was recommended to me to prepare for my Project+ certification through WGU.

This was a pretty easy read. I found the first-person writing style a little jarring for a study guide. The information was presented well and never became too wordy.
