Kevan 'Ice' Quinn loves his young wife Asha but he's a selfish daredevil that thrives on the adrenaline of being on the edge of action, the endorphin's fuel him and makes him feel alive. His wife welcomes him home for Christmas only to be left alone within minutes for an emergency rescue that goes horribly wrong.

Afterwards, Ice becomes a shell of his former self and we're told in flashbacks how he pushed Asha away. The story goes backwards and forwards in time until we know the full story of how they met, married and parted ways. Ice finally realizes his culpability and decides he wants his wife back. And, he knows the perfect time of the year that will allow him to at least get his foot back in the door.

Good Luck Ice -- You're gonna need it!

This is the first military romance that I've read from this author, so now I'll be sure to push her classic 'Before Sunrise' further up on my TBR pile.

It was emotional until it wasnt.

So, I do this every time. I get out of a long read. I'm still stuck in one story and can't find another book to get into. On top of that, I am not in the mood for 1st person books. So I ended up picking up another book.

What's so funny about this is that this is the beginning of November. I'm a firm believer that every holiday has a right to shine on its own lol This book already made upset that there was a Christmas theme here 🌲

We meet Asha and Kevan "Ice" Quinn. A Young and in love military couple. They're already married. So I'm wondering how this will go from the "love at first sight" most authors write about.
It's Christmas Eve and Asha is waiting on her husband. Somewhere in the process of making love Ice gets a phone call that changes everything.

Fast forward 2 years or 4 years later, I can't remember and Ice is in New York looking for Asha... Strange. Why? Well they got a divorce. Ice is running out of time and needs Asha. Can they found each other?

This is more of an open ended question. Asha didn't annoy me but honestly, both characters had this immaturity about them that was slightly annoying.

There was nothing but emotion during Ice and Asha's reunited time but when it came to the end of it, it just got a little weird. That last scene could have played out a bit more dramatic and clear.

Over all it was a cute story but it's Thanksgiving. I'm giving that holiday it's shine.

This book was an distraction/exercise for the author while she is working on her epic masterpiece. It felt like that. I wasn't feeling the story or the characters. There was not much chemistry or intrigue either. The main thing I remember is butterscotch and breasts. That's not very good if that's the only take away. The plot of this story needed more time to really delve into it and make it good. The clipped style and flash backs/forward was jarring. It was hard to follow and get into. I am not a fan.

If this is your first experience with the author please please check out some of her other work before you make a decision on her. She is amazing and this book is not reflective of her talent and skill.

Perfect for a Quick Holiday Read

What a wonderful way to spend a lazy Christmas day. I loved this story. Asha and Ice had a love like no other. This story was sweet, romantic, tragic and intriguing all rolled up in one beautiful, well written, interesting read. I normally don't like the books with the flash back scenes, they are usually unnecessary fillers to make the book longer and end up making it hard to read, but not this one. The flash backs were very critical to the story and were very helpful in understanding their love and commitment to each other. I loved that they had some real issues to overcome. This will definitely make it to my re-read pile.

Second chance

This was my first read by this author. I must say that I didn't really like the writing style. It jumped around from the past to present but not in an orderly manner. The dialog was pretty weak and I had a hard time liking the main characters. I was glad that this story was about normal people nor billionaires or mafia bosses. I was a little put off by how they met and the age difference. It was kind of creepy. Ice and Asha were married and then divorced. Ice tracks her down and essentially kidnaps her for a second chance. The ending was rushed and I wish things had been developed better throughout the book.

Wow!!!!

This story reminds me of why I'm such a fan of Sienna Mynx. Here I am, counting down the days for the final book in the Battaglia series; and she springs this lovely surprise on us.

Kevan and Asha's story brought out every emotion including laughter, sadness and elation. This is highly recommended and a must read.

It was okay...

I feel like the H didn't fight enough for the woman he claimed to love so much. He honestly didn't fight for her at all. It was all up to her to fix his mistakes

After reading Mynx's fantastic Battaglia Mafia series, I was excited to read this book. An interracial romance with a military man and a law student woman? Yep!

I was a little irritated with the pacing of the book and the flashback sequences had me double-checking the dates of each part of this story.

Asha seems like a weak character. After being supportive and loving to her husband, Kevan "Ice" Quinn, he basically rebukes her presence after he let his rescue team down during a mission for the US Coast Guard. He is the lone survivor and while I understood his pain and guilt over losing his friends, the misplaced anger triggered me.

After putting up with her sullen and withdrawn husband who eventually tells her to f*** off, Asha finally leaves and serves him with divorce papers. She makes a new life for herself as a big shot lawyer and Ice is still living in Maine, feeling sorry for himself but still working in the Guard.

Present day Ice attempts to win his ex-wife back and is persistent to the point where I had to take a walk. Asha caving in to spend Christmas with them (a major theme in the book) had me rolling my eyes. Then the reconciliation and the makeup sex... There was no real yearning or seeking forgiveness from him. Ice excuses his behavior as being childish and from his loss but failed to see how badly he screwed up his relationship with Asha.

They reconcile and the book ends with a HEA, Asha having had a baby and they moved back to her hometown.
I love a good second-chance story but the pacing and how quickly Asha gave in left me feeling disenchanted. If the story was longer and better structured (going in order of how they met, dated, married, the mission, divorce, and reconcilation), I would have liked the book.

I received an advance copy for an honest review. I liked the book. It was a different read than what I was used to from this author. But, this just shows that she's able to write different styles. At first I didn't like the Main character "Ice" he seemed arrogant and selfish only concerned with his needs and not his wife Asha. But, as I read more I realized that was due to their age difference and him being in military. I came to realize he loved her just as much as she loved him. Sienna Mynx did a good job showing the complexities of military life. The struggles and sometimes loneliness the spouse goes through being married to a enlisted man or woman (because we do have women in the military too) definitely takes sacrifice. If you like second chance at love romance books, you'll like this one. I highly recommend!

Second Chances

Some things are really sweeter the 2nd time around. I loved this story. It was so sweet. I loved how they fought for each the 2nd time around and learned from their past mistakes. This story was so beautiful. As I read it I could picture that beautiful couple in my head and was cheering for them to get it together. I had hoped there would have been a 2nd epilogue abt 12 yrs into the future, showing Ice still healthy, the marriage still strong, and 3 kids. With them on Christmas at the lighthouse. That would have been sweet. This story was so beautiful. I loved the story of Ice and Asha and their HEA.

Ice and Asha, when love draws you back

No story is ever perfect, as life isn't made that way. What was endearing for Ice and Asha's story was the worth the wait element. The back to the core of marriage. Sickness and in health, til death do you part. After a tragedy that shook Ice to the core, his and Asha's relationship was challenged. Challenge where it strips away all thoughts of how to overcome. Yet fate and God saw restoration for their relationship, and as a result they were able to reconnect. Of course through hard work and dedication.

Sweet and Sexy

Men in uniforms are always sexy to me....throw in the military look...especially Air Force or Marines....super sexy..Quinn and Asha made a perfect couple...him being an alpha...her being sweet innocent and younger...but smart, sexy, beautiful and reserved...waiting until she's married to give herself to her husband..then tragedy struck..series of unfortunate events takes place...and just like that...they are torn asunder...

This book had a lot of heartfelt moments. Ice and Asha were a beautiful couple. They loved hard but tragedy tore them apart for years. When Ice returned to claim Asha, she finally fought to get her man back. I liked the transitions from past to present. The author did a good job of giving the reader insight into their past and how their relationship developed. Great story about forgiveness and fighting for happiness.

Full circle

Asha and Ice were married and in love until a horrific accident that aided as a catalyst in their divorce. However, they never really got the closure they needed and their love for each other never stopped, even after years later. Life happened that made the couple to reunite and to come full circle. They faced a tough adversary but made it through together and was able to start their own family. It's a good story about second chances and forgiveness.

I read this book not once but twice and both times it was as if I was a starving woman in search of just the right meal to assuage the hunger pains that I've been feeling because of the void of a great Sienna Mynx novel. Let me begin with the preliminaries and work my way up into the awesomeness of this author. The book is centered around two characters Kevan "Ice Quinn and a young innocent young lady by the name of Asha. Kevan is a big strapping white boy from Mississippi who is unapologetically alpha and of course drop dead gorgeous in all of his yumminess. Me being southern born and raised I hear Mississippi White boy and I immediately draw a conclusion in my head of who and what Kevan as a character is going to do and be. I couldn't have been more wrong. Kevan is in the USCG and he has a type. You would think that type would be blond hair, blue eyes, big chest and flat behind. If you thought that then you would quickly understand that this is once again WRONG. Kevan enjoys women of the darker hue with curves for days. He is known in the crew as the Ice man because he is fearless, courageous, a little reckless with his devil-may-care attitude and he loves the women and quickly moves on to the next. When he meets Asha in the bar during a Christmas party he is smittened and rightly so. Asha is innocent, a good girl in school pursuing her education, and hails from a loving and wholesome family. The sparks fly between the two and they go back to Kevan's house not for a romp in the hay as Kevan would like but they talk and get to know one another on an entirely different level something that he has never experienced before. The one thing that I loved about Asha is that she is young yes and definitely inexperienced but she does not allow her convictions and moral code to be swayed. They date off and on for a year and then we see where they get engaged. After 3 years of marriage Asha has decided that she is going to give up her dreams of becoming a lawyer and be a good wife to Ice knowing that he doesn't want to leave the Coast Guard behind to live a more stable existence. Before she can tell him this on their anniversary which so happens to be on Christmas eve, tragedy strikes. Ice is changed both physically and emotionally. Thus, he pushes Asha away and they end up divorcing. What Ms. Mynx was able to so eloquently capture is the true test of love between two individuals who face life-altering events. She showed us how love may conquer all but that there can be one hell of a ride prior to getting to that happy ending. Ms. Mynx made me love Ice and sometimes hate him even though I empathized with everything he was going through. She made me love Asha to the point that I became as protective of her heart and feelings as if she was my true real life baby sister going through heartache. That's the beauty of Ms. Mynx's pen. She creates characters that could very well live next door, work in the cubicle next to you, or sit beside you in church. They are so realistic that you have a vested interest in seeing their lives turn out the way you envision it in your head. This was a turn from her Battaglia series but in no way, is there a decrease in the level of exquisiteness and perfection that she brought to this story. There aren't many writers out there in ANY genre that are as multifaceted as Ms. Mynx. What I know is that whatever the genre I'm going to walk away from the proverbial literary table stuffed awaiting the next opportunity to pull up my chair and feast again. I can't say it enough if you haven't already YOU MUST read this book. You will travel the emotional roller coaster from sad, happy, frustrated, and angry all just to start the journey again when you get to the next page. Today I salute you Ms. Mynx!! You keep this little book worm's heart aglow with the anticipation of reading your next masterpiece. I know without a shadow of a doubt that the literary angels themselves take imaginary bows & pat themselves on the back each and every time you type two 3 letter words THE END!! You my dear have wielded a weapon so powerful it has the ability to change minds and opinions of each reader who takes the opportunity to crack open the beautiful prosaic web that you so painstakingly weave for our reading pleasure. KUDOS Ms. Mynx I assure you that I am anxiously awaiting to see what you pull out your sleeve next for my literary consumption.

Good story

Lots of heart. A true love story between two people. Well written. I liked how each one expressed therapists and fears but finally worked through them fit love. Ice was a true alpha male and Asha just a good woman to her man.

I absolutely LOVED this book!! Loved it. I felt like the heroine in this story was me. Here I was just thinking this would be an average book to tide me over until the next Battaglia Mafia book comes out.

The main reasons I loved it: **Spoilers below

1. The heroine, Asha, believes in abstinence until marriage and ACTUALLY lives it out and sticks to her convictions!!! This fact alone made me absolutely love this book, because I do not read stories like this unless it's Christian romance, which means there won't be any juicy love scenes going on. I was shocked that Sienna Mynx wrote a book where the couple actually waits until marriage for sex. I was blown away and I'm still thinking of this story days after I have read it.

2. I liked how it started out with them being married, and then flashed back to how they met and how their relationship progressed.

3. It was realistic!!! I loved how Ice loves Asha and respects her desire to wait for marriage, but still tries to see how far he can go. That was realness. I also loved how realistic their first time together was. She was actually in pain, there was blood. I could relate to that and felt like their description of their first time was the closest to how my wedding night actually was. Other books describe first times as slight discomfort, but then the pleasure soon takes over. Asha and Ice's experience is what I can relate to.

4. It was a normal, everyday story and I felt like this girl was a mirror of me. Asha looked forward to having children with Ice, to being a stay at home mother to her children, to homeschooling them, and she breastfed her baby. I have never read all this mothering goodness in an erotic romance book ever, and I was just so excited to see real life elements in the story.

This is one of my favorite Sienna Mynx books, and I went into it expecting it to be a boring read. But, I loved this book so much. Thank you Sienna for writing a book that I could really relate to and love!!

This was a very quick read by Ms. Mynx. Although enjoyable, I was missing some of the character depth that I usually enjoy with this author's work. It was a bit unbelievable how quickly this couple fell back into intimacy but under the circumstances, I guess timing was of the essence. I was happy that Ms. Mynx was able to pull everything together to get this couple to their HEA.
