Five years ago, a man is executed for the brutal murder of a family. Now another family is found dead in the same way.
Echo Rose thought she had it made. A reporter for a top newspaper, she was ready to make her mark in the world of journalism. But when office politics threaten to derail her career, Echo finds herself fighting to prove herself to her colleagues.
Meanwhile, Detective Skip Malloy is called to investigate a grisly triple murder - a father, mother, and daughter brutally slain. As Skip delves deeper into the case, he finds his relationship with his partner strained, as their loyalty to each other is tested.
But when a serial killer sets his sights on Skip and his family, Echo must race against time to save them. With her career and the lives of those she cares about on the line, Echo will stop at nothing to catch the killer and bring them to justice.
Fans of James Patterson, David Baldacci, and Harlan Coben will love this series!
THOMAS FINCHAM holds a graduate degree in Economics. His travels throughout the world have given him an appreciation for other cultures and beliefs. He has lived in Africa, Asia, and North America. An avid reader of mysteries and thrillers, he decided to give writing a try. Several novels later, he can honestly say he has found his calling. He is married with two kids, and he lives in a hundred-year-old house. He is the author of LEE CALLAWAY series, the HYDER ALI series, the MARTIN RHODES series, and the ECHO ROSE series.
The Rose Thorn is a decent book the characters are believable Echo Rose being the main protagonist. She works for Above the Fold newspaper covering the crime beat alongside her colleague Conner who's being eased back into work after he was hospitalised after a pretty horrific assault on a previous story. They're on the trail of a killer who's slit the throats of a family who had just sat down for dinner. Why hadn't any member of the family put up a fight? There was no defensive wounds on any of the bodies how can this be? The police detectives Skip Molloy and Bud Smith are also on the trail of the killer, can they find him before he strikes again and is he targeting someone close to any of the main protagonists, you'll find out but only if you read the book. I can't wait to read the next and final instalment of an entertaining series. I'd definitely recommend the series to anyone who likes to wile away a few hours and escape this horrible pandemic for a short escape from the hell of it all.
This was very good! I'm really enjoying the series. Echo Rose works as a reporter for Above The Fold. Several years ago a father, mother, and daughter were slaughtered in their home, the killer supposedly caught, tried, and executed. Now, however, a similar murder has taken place, which leaves the police to thinking the two cases are related. So why did the killer wait so long to strike again? There are no apparent ties linking the two families together so what is the killer's motive? It's puzzling and detectives Bud and Stan are searching for any kind of clue that would get them a lead to the killer. In the meantime, Echo is asking her own questions with help from her new friend, Connor.
This was so well written and the character of Echo Rose so well developed with her own interesting personal story, that it kept me turning pages, eagerly invested in the story.
A thoroughly dramatic and deeply shocking story. A young boy mistreated for years by his entire family, supposedly to "toughen him up and make a man of him", is left physically and mentally scarred for life. This leads to a schizophrenic disorder which leads him to take bitter revene on his and other families in, what he thinks he sees, as a way of redressing the situation and stopping it happening to others. Unfortunately he is too damaged to understand the consequences.
2 ½ *stars REALLY I LIKED THIS BUT NOT AS MUCH AS BK#2, LOTS OF REHASHING OF WHAT HAPPENED IN BKS#1 & 2 THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL IF YOU’RE READING THE SERIES OUT OF ORDER. I WAS A LITTLE NERVOUS NEAR THE END, BUT IT TURNED OUT OK. WELL ONE MORE BOOK TO GO AND I’M SURE WHERE ITS HEADING WE GOT A SURPRISE AND I THINK ECHO IS GOING TO BE LOOKING INTO THAT. ‘D
This is close to thriller . A family of three are found murdered in their kitchen . Echo and Connor are both working at Above the Fold newspaper . Together they look into the crime and discover strange facts that lead to the possibility that there is a serial killer out there .
Really well thought out plot with two stories running concurrent then merging into one case and being solved by detective and reporter working in unison to uncover the psycho cross dresser serial killer. Echo Rose (Kelly) gets the job done by any means where the cops hands are tied by protocol and it's a good job she does.
Omg. This series gets better with each book. I highly recommend this series. This is a series you cannot put down. There is only one more book in this series and I do hope there will be more. This is a five star series.
Fincham continues to surprise me and entertain me with the most stunning murder mystery writing. Each character and scene are so vividly written I can see them, feel the wind on my face and know when I'm in the middle of figuring out the true murderer.
This installment had more twists than a pretzel. Faster paced then the others. The series is starting to grow on me. One more installment to go before I can make a final judgement. So on to book 4.
I couldn't put this book down, the characters were interesting and each with a story of their own. The premise behind the story was compelling and kept the reader guessing almost to the end. I would highly recommend this book.
This went in an unexpected direction; it was somehow less harrowing than the previous story, despite the perils ending up so close to Skip and his family - somehow it wasn’t quite as jarring.
This story has newspaper reporters and police detectives as the main characters. Not to mention some sick characters as well. Follow them all in the chase to find out the truth.
The story starts out with three disparate murder cases and eventually merges into one great mystery and dogged pursuit of truth by a journalist and the two detectives leading to a thrilling conclusion.
Hated it and gave up at 63%. Really unrealistic and lame, I finally got to the point where I said, "I really don't care what happens to any of the people in this story." Time to quit.
