Why are these books not more popular? They are absolutely more brilliant than half the more talked about books I see every where. Great world building, brilliant characters, a storyline literally, right out of hell. It was amazing. Well, I'm gonna share these books in every horror /dark fantasy group I'm in, and share in my Facebook and Instagram. Hopefully get this author the recognition they deserve.

First of all be advised that the description listed on Goodreads is not accurate at all to what this book actually is.

Wages of Sin: The Devils Advocates takes place largely in Hell, where Dr Frank M Stein embarks on a journey to gather the leaders of various regions of Hell. This includes Dracula, the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Dr Jekyl, and others.

Wasn’t sure what to expect going in since nobody I know has ever heard of these books. I was pleasantly surprised by what I got from the experience. The world building is interesting and kept me wanting to see what would happen next. All these various characters interacting with the backdrop of meeting at the center of power in Hell is very interesting, if not a little bit silly.

As the first book in a series, the story mainly consists of introducing the reader to the world and the characters and setting up the main conflict. Don’t go in expecting much resolution. This book mainly exists to set the stage for the story moving forward and to that end it did its job well. I finished the book genuinely interested to see where it was going.

If I had any major critiques it is that, for a nearly 700 page book, not too much happens in it. Lots of conversations to flesh out the world and the characters (of which there are a lot). I’d be lying if I said I didn’t find myself occasionally growing annoyed at yet another long conversation between characters. Speaking of the characters, most are pretty good, though they do have a tendency to act strangely without much emotional regulation. Though that of course could be due to the author informing the reader of a characters true feeling right in the moment without much ambiguity. It’s not a bad thing but it did feel odd and took some getting used to. Some characters did feel very flat compared to others without much motivation though I suspect that will be fleshed out throughout the series.

Another thing I feel is important to mention is that I believe this book is self published based on the fact that some obvious grammar errors are throughout the entire book. Thankfully though I was invested enough in the story to overlook these things. Overall I really enjoyed the experience of the devils advocates and I look forward to seeing what happens next in this dark quirky world.

Good premise horribly executed.

Reads like a fanfic of a bunch of OCs that were put together just because the author wants them to interact, prose is unnecessarily bloated, characters behave nonsensically (SPOILERS: it's happening in HELL - why are they surprised and horrified by a death of a random low demon?) and shallow.
There is a setup for a tiny subplot which is confirmed and revealed 50 pages later and the reader is then repeatedly stabbed in the eye with it every time the concerning characters are present just so you don't forget - please don't forget that this thing is happening, have you forgotten about it? No worries let's remind you again unsubtly, while the concerned character number 3 remains absolutely oblivious to it for no good reason. (I'm at page 556 at the point of writing this review but who know there is going to be an awesome plottwist that explains it all).

If you're wondering: but reviewer why are you still reading it when you clearly don't enjoy it?
Because I paid money for this. I have read the extended free preview which was about 140 long and was fooled long enough to buy this so I'll be damned if I don't finish this fustercluck.
Also because I want to see how the author writes herself out of the black hole that is the corner where the plot has crashed 200ish pages in.

For fresh readers who are tempted to try this after reading the free preview (which looked pretty good): save yourself some money let this stay in obscurity where it belongs.
