Normally I'm very impressed with the author's books. This was no exception story-wise, but I found that the story wasn't as well edited as they have been in the past. There were lot of times that I was distracted by awkward phrasing or by full on typos. There is plenty of cool new technology and awesome ways they use it. Creativity his high, but for some reason the writing didn't seem it's usual strong self. Still worth reading.
Great book. I've been reading this series off and on since I believe under grad. Now I am a married parent of two. When I get the free time I pick up where I left off and it is as no time has past from the last time I opened one of Mr. Lalonde's books. I highly recommend this series and I hope it goes on for 20 more books.
Most series grow tiring, lose focus, are predictable after so many books but not this series. In fact, book 10 is one of the best with wonderful character development, drama, excitement, action and telling a good story.
As with the other books in this series it is well written and very engrossing. The only criticism I have is the story is too rushed. I hope everyone enjoys this episode.
Just as amazing as all the rest of the series. The story is building into something even more amazing and we are learning more about all the vast amount of races.
There is something about this last broadcast that has brought life to the series again. The last two books felt kind of out of place for me. But this one brings in a breath of something new and much needed. Thanks for writing such a wonderful story and please continue.
Call me biased, since I love his series. As expected, Broadcast 10 delivers everything I come to expect from RL and his Spinward Fringe stories.
Between the space battles, politics, and following Alice thru Officer training, this book keeps moving and keeps the reader interested in what's coming next for our team. I love the future tech ideas RL comes up with and he upped the ante in this one.
If you like great stories, and especially if you love good Sci-Fi theatre, you need to read this series. Just start with Broadcast 0 and you'll be hooked by the end.
I will admit I don't quite understand the very high reviews this book gets. I'm guessing most of the other reviewers are fans, and have been reading or books by Lalonde. This is the first one for me, and my primary comment is that if it was one third as long, it would be three times as good. There's just far too much detail of... everything! The writing is pretty good, as are the characters, the setting, the basic story... but there's just not a lot happening. Of course it's important to flesh out the narrative, but it's best to stop before it's obese.
This series is by far my favorite. The story is so vast and exciting I find myself reading when I should be spending time with family. I thought there should be more for how long this book took but I am happier for a better story over rapid book releases. I will be purchasing the next one definitely! Keep up the good work man.
I just finished re-reading Episode #9. I'm glad I did as there was a lot that I had not remembered. And when I bought a copy on Smashwords, I saw that Episode 11 is scheduled to be released in late June 2017.
What can one say about this series of books. It just keeps getting better. I will recommend that if you are looking at this book, ensure you read the complete series.
As always a fantastic addition to a universe so well written it's easy to believe it existing. The development of the key characters is both heart wrenching and lovely. The twists and turns of the story combined with the chaotic events that drive the overall arc makes for a fast paced and fantastic read. I'd recommend anyone try this series regardless of if you are sci fi fan or not. But if you are a sci fi fan, Spinward Fringe is definitive must read.
