Dark Planet Warriors #6

Infinity's Embrace

Rate this book
Alternative cover edition of ASIN B01MTXFGMW

Rescued from captivity by a group of rather intimidating Kordolians, Noa finds herself recovering at a strange facility in the middle of the desert. SynCorp's medical experiments have left her with an impossible ability she can't control, and nobody really seems to know how to help her. She's fragile and shattered, a mere shadow of her former self, and she has nowhere else to go.

She doesn't know what to make of the Kordolians, especially when she can't stop their thoughts from leaking into her mind. The silver-skinned warriors are both terrifying and protective, and when she encounters a dark, mysterious presence in the most unlikely of places, she realizes that at least one of them might possess abilities similar to her own.

The question is, does this intimidating being intend to help her, or harm her?

Warning: This book is a science-fiction alien romance. It contains swearing, violence, sensual sex scenes and silver aliens with fangs. It's definitely recommended for readers aged 18 and over.

Infinity's Embrace is Book Six in the Dark Planet Warriors Series. It will make more sense if you've read the other books first, although that's probably not absolutely essential.

The Silent One!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙❤️💚💜
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌍🌎
Character development: 😊😅🤨😔🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Solo Narration

The Hero: Ashrael (a.k.a. The Silent One) - he was an assassin, a ghost, a silent killer. Sent to kill a Kordolian General Tarak Al Acadian, but the General got the best of him and cut off his arm. Then he was kept alive, so the General can try to break his mind bond and find a way to use him. Ashrael had been nothing more than a slave, rendered speechless and bound to follow the implanted plans of his mistress until he died. Now he longed for death but would not die by his own hand. He was one of the rare exceptions of Kordolian that could speak via mind speak and continued to have the compulsion to kill the General from the imprinted command from his mistress.

The heroine: Noa - she was held captive by SynCorp after they conducted painful medical experiments on her. She awoke after having brain surgery and was rescued by the Kordolians who had helped Earth fight the bug-like alien Zargek, though the leaders of Earth saw the Kordolians as another hostile race of alien, especially since they were feared throughout the galaxy. Her life was turned upside down after the medical experiments. She was forever changed and couldn’t take the thoughts of others that constantly leaked into her consciousness. She could see inside the minds of everyone around her.

The Story: Ashrael was stripped of his sight shortly after birth in order to be trained to hone his other senses until they were preternaturally acute. He was able to perceive and see more than those who saw with their eyes. (Think Vin Diesel from Pitch Black, Riddick and The Chronicles of Riddick). He was kept immobilized via temporary paralysis to lessen the effects of his compulsion to kill Acadian, rather than shackled in restraints. He was kept in a clean, quiet cell, and he couldn’t figure out what the general wanted from him.

I really liked the way these two people found each other and were able to help each other put their broken pieces back together. The storyline was good, and I liked how dark and quiet Ashrael was. The characters were likable, and the world building was terrific. I loved how the series was tied together with the General (from the first book) playing a big part in this book.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Jillian Macie. I generally dislike any audiobooks that don’t have dual or duet narration, though I do really like Jillian Macie, she has a great voice and is terrific at showing emotion through her voice. She always does a terrific job and the same was true for this book.

This series keeps getting better and better.
I am pretty sure this book is available via Kindle unlimited but I purchased it.
Longer review to come shortly, but I want to re-read it again now.
Fantastic story.

Absolutely recommended! (But read the series in order!)

Emotional and imaginative

This Dark Planet book plucks the heart strings a little more than others because the H/h are so damaged physically and mentally. Their personal losses are significant and yet they become each other's light. Another satisfying read by the great Anna Carven.

I was so happy to see that the author took us back to the ghost assassin for this story. He was such a compelling character from Tarak's story. :-)

This is one of the better space alien romance series I've read in a while. Start at book 1, because I liked the first couple if books the best. This one was good, but the H is very complex and withdrawn... different than the Kordolians of previous books. I liked the last book much more. ( If you are expecting a lot of hot smex you won't find it here. There are a couple of brief scenes but...)

I get the feeling that this is the last book in the series. Except for a book about Zyara, I don't know where this would go from here.

2.5 stars. Rounding up due to the overall storyline

I did not have much interest in these characters going in. So no surprise it was not that great for me. I was bored silly for the first 20-30%. Just could not get into it. There was actually some huge stuff that happened in this story with regards to the overarching story so it is important to read.

The ending was good but there was a lot of filler and downtime in this book. With characters I still do not care about.

What an amazing redemption for Ashrael. This book almost felt like a conclusion...I'll have to check what's up next for the Dark Planet Warriors.

What a delicious SFR!

I didn't even read the blurb so I had no idea which characters would be the MCs. I was pleasantly surprised, then delighted. The Silent One and Noa!

With both of their POV, we see them try to deal with their problems and then slowly meet. The tension! The feels! Mind powers! I was happy with their growth as individuals and with their relationship.

The plot also goes where the previous books have been setting up for--the Dark Planet! The Empress!

Decent little sci fi romance. It wasn't very in depth but it was enjoyable. I liked the hero. Blind assassin who was unable to speak. This was the sixth in a series .

An assassin's redemption, a broken woman's cure. The General takes a Machiavellian chance on an Assassin (Ashrael) and it pays off in ways he hadn't foreseen.
Ashrael is the 'Silent One' that Tarak didn't kill in bk3... although he did cut off his arm.
Noa is one of the rescues from SynCorp's den of underwater horrors (also bk3). (Once a famous pianist, Noali Clarke). The pianist thing isn't addressed till the end of the book though. I was a little disappointed about that. But as an epilogue, it was really sweet.

Noa was operated on by SynCorp's creepy sociopaths which gave her the ability to hear other's thoughts. The trouble is, she has no way of stopping all those many thoughts from bombarding her mind constantly.

Then her mind meets Ashrael in an explosive introduction. At first Ashrael doesn't think much of her... or any 'Human'. They are weak and rather ridiculous. But by the end though, they fit together like two pieces of a puzzle and balance each other perfectly.

Tarak is his usual manipulative self, but with a calculated craftiness that will put the Empire on it's ear.
The plot is actually pretty straight forward and predictable after Noa and Ashrael become a couple.
The ending was SERIOUSLY OTT and a little creepy, but with a sweetly solid HEA. Some satisfying justice served as well.

Now for the ridiculous OTT stuff (don't read as it's spoilers and I still liked the story despite it);

well let me say that Noa had the silent one
Overall 5 out of 5 stars

This was more than I was expecting. I loved Noa. She has a head full of others invading her space. She was once a gifted musician. Then she became a test subject for a company doing the unthinkable to humans and others. Then she was rescued and a whole new world of thoughts intruded on her. Among the chaos of the new situation she finds a little piece of heaven in the desert. The Silent One became the silence for her storm, but then he became the one trying to take over her mind. She proved that she was stronger than she ever would have guessed. She put a stop to that and made more for herself.

The Silent One was the assassin sent to kill and kidnap. He did not anticipate begin given a chance at something more than he was trained for. Then with that chance came more. He was there to be the bad guy, but turned into a hero.

Jillian Macie had made herself the voice of the Kordolian warriors. She makes this the characters come to life and feel familiar over the course of the series.

Infinity's Embrace by Anna Carven is a tension-filled, alien warrior romance tale that gets better and better. What ensues is mayhem, chaos, action, sexy, sizzling, tension, and much more. If you like sci-fi romance, then look no further.

Humans now back on earth find their lives turned upside down when the big bad Kordolians land some for the better, others for the worse. Noa was held as a test subject for big corporations, but now an assassin wants her, and these battle-hardened warriors will keep her safe, or will they?

Abbey is taken from Tarak and whoever they are should be scared because no one crosses this hardened warrior, and no stands in the way from him and his mate. He will stop at nothing to protect his mate.

Who am I kidding ? 🤡☠ Stayed up all night reading this baby.

👏🏻Did I want a bit more from their relationship ? Yes.
👏🏻Was it still fucking amazing ? Hell yeah.
Couldn't stop thinking about it all day. One fighting scene in particular gave me chills. Played out like a movie inside my head.

This time we have an assassin with very different abilities, who is shunned by his people and a human who can read minds.

Their connection reminded me of Heart of Obsidian and it was EVERYTHING.🙏🏻👹
I couldn't get enough. I wanted it to have more pages. 😭😭😭

I can say with ALL HONESTY that I didn't expect to like the silent assassin as much as I did. He was a MESS when we first met him and it took time for him to work through the conditioning he'd been subjected to and find something to focus on that wasn't all about mayhem and murder.

That thing he ended up focusing on? Noa, the human experimented on by SynCorp who now has a whole lot of crazy going on in her head. On the plus side, Ashrael has been trained in controlling the very thing driving Noa batty. Which is a major plus for her, because now she has someone who can teach her the ins and outs of not letting her newfound power get the best of her.

I really, REALLY liked Ashrael's transformation from a brainwashed assassin to someone willing to face down anything to keep his special someone safe. He seriously came a long way and it was great. Also, his complete focus on Noa was sex-ay. Assassins have insane focus, man. INSANE.

My soft spot for emotionally stunted warriors who fight hard and love harder is endless, it seems. I'm all in and I'm planning on staying this way.

Noa and Ashrael

Noa's brain was operated on; it changed her and she doesn't like it. She didn't like that it had robbed her of her old life, robbed her of silence - she can hear everyone-around-her's thoughts. She's found a spot in the desert where she finds absolute peace. After several visits to her spot she finds someone in her head. How can this be and who is it?

Ashrael, called The Silent One, is a Kodrolian asassin with a mindbond that forces him to kill The General and bring his mate back home to his Dark Planet. Yet when he contacts the mind of the woman in the desert he looses the compulsion to kill his target. Who is she and why can she stop his mindbond.

This was a good twist on the mated couple. I am really enjoying this Dark Planet Warriors Series.

Again, jumping into a well-established series like this means there are a few things that just don't really compute, but they are so unimportant to the current story that I don't feel like I'm missing out on much.

But the romance was on point, the conflicts were varied, and the characters were both developed really well. I honestly have no complaints. Actually, by the end of chapter two I was fist pumping because the heroine gets some crazy superpower and is like "I'm gonna learn how to rock this shit" instead of the typical "omg my life is ruined, this is sooo hard" nonsense. Strong heroine, fascinating antihero, lots of bristling men with guns, and aliens + magic. This was a win for me.

4.5 Kordolian Stars

Wow, what a emotional read. I'm so glad the author to the time to write this beautiful story of the Silent One Assassin and the beautiful Telepath that the SynCorp had been torturing. They make such a beautiful pair. Their stories so sad but so wonderfully woven together.

I'm excited for the future to see what happens to the mighty Kordolian Empire going forward.

Damn,I loved it!

Two people so broken yet so perfect for each other. I loved the story and the evolution of the characters. There’s not much to tell except this that this has taken the nr 1 spot in by he series for me. And I have read them all except one.

I’m going to stop here with this series, not because this book is bad, I just have continually declining interest. The concepts are good. The world building could be amazing but sometimes feels clunky and includes too much telling. I don’t hate it. It just didn’t keep my attention like it should, which I cooke also say of a couple of the precious books, so I think it’s time to be done.

Surreal

I think this is the most surreal part of this series. From Noa's music to Ash's near death experience it was spiritual in its intensity. Noa is from the 3rd book and one of the survivors saved when Abbey was abducted and found. I was hoping we would see her again. I loved her story and admired her strength. She has the most intense of the Kordolians. Ash is honed to be a killing machine. The others are tame compared to him. Tarak is probably his only equal. Scary guy but what I love about this series is how the fiercest males are struck down by these beautiful and brave women.

'Silence was golden, because it told her that Ashrael was still alive.'

The absolute best one. All the world-building power was on display here and the romance was well built and the smutty scenes were the least cringey out of all the books.

Amazing!!!

Another great edition to the series, which I absolutely love. I was so excited to see a new book by this author. Noa and Ash were perfect together. Their 'powers' complimented each other so well. It was amazing to see them heal each other. Noa's gifts in particular were very intense. Will the next book be located on Kythia after its near destruction? Back on Earth with another rescued patient? Looking forward to it whatever it is.

Emotionally this is the best book in series. It even managed to graze the outskirts of some serious stuff like post traumatic coping and despair.General Tarak was more unpleasant than in previous books and all human mates were portrayed rather shallow in brief encounters. So that's a downside.Yay for finally doing something about Kythia and Vionn, even though climax was very brief and unsatisfying. This book had a potential to be really good but unfortunately fell short.Reads easily though.

Love it!

Ashrael starts off attacking Noa, trying to take over her body, but curiosity later gets the better of him. Their romance is so sweet & pure. I also liked the overarching story of killing the Empress, but the deed itself was underwhelming. This book definitely was more about Ashrael & Noa than anything else.
