The mystery of Wolf's Peak could save her ... or prove her undoing.
In 1891 England, Christine Croft is destitute after her father's death. When she hears of possible employment at Wolf's Peak, the duke's estate, she goes there hoping to secure a position as a maid or servant -- anything to put a roof over her head.
But the mysterious, handsome Duke Wolfric isn't looking for household help. Jasper needs a wife. And to Christine's mingled shock and joy, he chooses her over all the other young ladies hoping to become his duchess.
After they marry, Christine learns that all is not as it seems at Wolf's Peak. When the duke's brother comes to visit, she's caught up in a deadly game ... and learns the secret of the wolf who comes out of the woods to visit her. Can she save herself, her husband, and her unborn child from a treacherous attack?
This is the first time I have read a book by this author and I was very pleasantly surprised at how well the book was written, I really enjoyed reading it. The story-line and plot is well thought out and written with drama, suspense, intrigue, romance, wolf shifters and keeps the reader’s attention. The characters are quite well developed with personalities and moods suited to the situations they find themselves in. This is a well written Dark Regency Romance with a HEA, I look forward to reading future books from this author. I will recommend this book to people that like to read this kind of book.
Wolf-shifter fantasy set in Historical England where an orphaned young lady has to fend for herself until she marries a mysterious rich powerful Duke. Miss Christine Croft loses everything when her father dies. It is a quick fall into homelessness and starvation for a woman on her own at that time. It is not pretty. So when she gets a chance for a better life, she takes it with the powerful Lord Jasper, Duke Wolfric. Everything in the story is straightforward and leaving very little to the imagination, which means the good are good and the evil are only evil. Sigh. Too predictable, although the story started out great. 220 pages and kindle freebie 2 stars
This is my first book from this author and I loved it. It is a quick read but it has such great characters and story that it just sucks you right in. This is a must read. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Your gonna love this one, this wolf needs a wife and guess what ,first she does not know he is a wolf or why he needs a wife. Then she finds out he has a mean brother. From there you really need to read this one. Patricia Blackmoor really did a great job.
After his wife dies, Jasper has to find another wife and produce an heir in order to continue to be the alpha of his pack. Christine, kicked on the street after the death of her father, is approached by Annabelle with the offer of moving to Jasper's for a job. Christine agrees to move there, not knowing that she was really going to be inspected to be Jasper's new wife. Jasper tries to hide his wolf side and doesn't inform her of his previous wife. When picked Christine feels lonely, but is drawn to a white wolf on the property. When Jasper's brother, Seth, makes a unexpected visit, he tries to demolish Jasper by hurting Christine. After the assault, Christine learns that Jasper only originally married her for the sake of keeping his place. Will Jasper be able to find and prove himself to Christine? What will happen to Seth.
This story sucked me in from the beginning. In my opinion, Christine was definitely naive, BUT being the time the story is based on and how she was raised, I wasn't to surprised. I agreed with her that Jasper really should have told her about his past and his other side, but then again Jasper was afraid she would run since at that point he was really in love with her! I really can't wait for the next story in this series to come out!

This is the first book I have read By Patricia Blackmoor and I really enjoyed it - it's a typical sweet historical paranormal romance where the poor girl gets the rich duke but with a few twists along the way to keep it entertaining. Things have been hard for Christine and her sick father, but when he dies she finds herself in even a worse position being destitute and homeless and after spending the night on the streets, when she hears about a job at Wolf peak she goes in hope of securing the position, especially after spending the night homeless with a group of women of the night she'd do anything to get a roof over her head. But the jobs not what she thinks. Jasper the Duke of Wolfric is not looking for a maid or any domestic help, he's looking for a wife and heir, which he needs before his 30th birthday to hold onto his tittle. Christine not the only girl there for the position, but shockingly to her, she's the one he chooses. I won't tell you any more as I hate when reviews spoil the story for other readers.

This book was actually quite good. Truly felt for Christine and everything she had to go through and deal with. Jasper, in order to keep his position as Duke, need to produce an heir by the time he turned 30. Relationship that begins with hidden truths; Christine has to figure out if she can look past that. One of my favorite parts was actually the relationship between Christine and the mysteriously gentle white wolf. She's able to talk to him and find comfort in him. Jasper's brother, Seth, sweeps in and sets things into a bit of a whirl. The book definitely keeps you hooked as you go alone. I also really enjoyed the character of Annabelle, she made me crack a smile quite a few times. Definitely worth checking this book out.
Very good story. Yes, it's called The Wolf's Wife for a reason, it's a little bit dark regency romance. This is a stand-alone paranormal story. Christine is left destitute after her father's death. In desperation she takes a position at Dukes house only it isn't the position she wanted. Master is the duke and therefore required to have an heir. The story has a few slow spots. Secrets and diners abound and trouble swiftly follows. The story has sorrow, intrigue, suspense and romance. I received a complementary copy of this book via Hidden Gems and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author.
The Wolf's Wife takes place in Edwardian England, so the historical romance angle was enough to draw me in. The added kicker of werewolves was a great bonus. Blackmoor grabbed my interest with the prologue and didn't let go. I couldn't put it down. It's well-written, and the characters and dialogue are great. I picked this one up in KU because I agreed to review book 2 and wanted to know the whole story. I'm so glad I did because this is one of the best books I've read in awhile.
Here this story is set in the late 1800s, some editing needs to be done here. The Duke is a werewolf and in need of a wife. Enter in a young woman who has just lost her father due to illness. They marry. But with so many secrets will this marriage last. Will his younger brother try to take over? Though this ended as an HEA it really was an HFN since there are more books/parts to this one.
I loved Jasper and Christine's story! They were both great charcters along with Annabelle. I really felt for Christine who was alone in a house without many friends and a fiance who was either not there or always doing something instead of getting to know his bride to be. It was well written with a great storyline and a couple of twists. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy.
Love this ARC I just reviewed. Cool hits on the historical aspects while holding to the PRN story basis. Never would have dreamed of the lineage twist.
