Jennifer Ryder is a bestselling romance author who loves to write about small towns, swoony heroes and strong females who aren’t afraid to fight for what they want.
Born and bred in Canberra, now living on a rural property in New South Wales, Australia, she enjoys the best of city and country. Her loving husband is ever willing to provide inspiration, and her two young cherubs, Jack Russell named Buddy and sheep that don't see fences as barriers, keep life more than interesting.
Having the absolute pleasure of beta reading the Spark series from its inception I've seen Jennifer Ryder go from strength to strength. I knew there was something special about Sophie from the moment she graced the pages in Strike, I loved her snarky wit and her strength, I adored that Ms Ryder didn't make her some two dimensional bimbo, Sophie has had a tough run, that much was eluded to in Strike, her sexual orientation was just one part of her larger than life personality and she drew me in almost instantly. Rocco had an almost sleaziness about him that should of been a turn off, but his honesty about his main loves in life, patron, pussy and being a mechanic was somewhat refreshing. I wanted to be disgusted by his manwhoring ways but I couldn't, his character intrigued me, not because I expected the stereotype, that the bad boy player just needed the love of a pure, innocent woman to turn him good, but because he intrigued me, I wanted to know not why he bounced from woman to woman, but what made him tick, what was it that lurked in the background of his mind that he was so eager to forget, to drown out with a steady stream of booze and women.
The moment Ms Ryder mentioned Switch would be about Rocco and Sophie I was giddy, because well... Sophie has a girlfriend in Strike, she for intents and purposes Sophie appears to be a lesbian, so I wondered how this would translate to a story where the hero and heroine were male and female, I shouldn't have questioned Jennifer's ability to tell this story, it was barely even a blip on the radar once I dove in, I devoured this book, I couldn't put it down, there was so much more here than I expected, so much more than a man with a penchant for living loud and woman who dealt with heart break and anger by turning to women. I should mention that the author doesn't gloss over anything here, she doesn't play it down, nor does she make light of sexual ambiguity or orientation, nor does she focus the entire book there, Switch is very much about two people struggling to keep their heads above water, two people who have had very different tough lessons thrown their way, who are just trying to survive.
Ms Ryder tackles some extremely confronting topics here, from deception and heartbreak, to alcoholism, to prison, there is nothing flippantly thrown in for the sake of angst, and every moment, every soul crushing, thought provoking moment propels the story, the author uses her characters as a vehicle to pose important questions to the reader, it challenges you to ask yourself when the world seems to be stacked against you do you submit and be crushed by the rising waves or do you find a way to break the surface and keep on swimming? As someone who has seen the effects of alcoholism first hand this was a refreshing take on someone's journey of hope and healing, often times irreverent, extremely sexy and funny as hell, Switch had me not only invested but desperate for more, there were moments I cursed myself for my speed reading ways, wanting instead to slow down and savour the words, I wanted to soak up the characters and live in their world for just a little longer.
There was a beautiful contrast within Rocco and Sophie, on the outside they both seemed like a match made in heaven...and hell...funny, brash, direct, neither spared a second thought for the other's feelings, and yet as we peel away the layers, we realise they are both more alike and yet different in some ways than we expected. Despite the horrendous run Sophie has had, there's a hopefulness to her, her fighting spirit shining through despite the numerous times she wants to throw in the towel and give up, and Rocco may be arrogant and crass, but beneath the cocky exterior is a man who genuinely cares for those around him, the tender and touching moments may not be frequent at first but their appearance in the story soothed my erratic heart. I was hoping for something sexy and fun, and with Switch I also got an at times poignant and heartfelt story about over coming past hurts, living through pain, and finding a way to live not just survive.

I had no intentions of starting this book at 1 am in the morning. But it was Sophie aka Suds story and I wanted to know about more our favourite lesbian . And of course who couldn’t forget Rocca As everyone had just assumed facts about Sophie and I wonder how the author was going to make it plausible. When the facts where that Sophie had a girl and Switch was all about Rocca and her. As I know it not easy to do so when you only given certain facts about a character judge them that way. She was a memorable secondary character Strike for those reasons . You couldn’t help love her regardless of her situation and I was desperate to know why . It was time for answers and I thought about time as whilst I had no issues with Sophie. I wanted her to be happy and find out the truth. Switch was the book I was waiting for .
I thought I was going to get a light and breezy story from Ryder for her story. As we have two characters who are memorable for their quirks. Sophie and her snarkness which made her valuable friend who didn’t want to cross and Rocca his loud mouth. I thought it was going to be banter and all play.
I thought had been through the wringer enough this year with Sting. I WAS WRONG. As with all her characters, I knew these two were special. But I didn’t know how special these two would be. As behind the Sophie and Rocca large then life personalities that we have come to know. There were secrets , they were desperate to keep and hide from everyone. Eating away slowly at them, to the point that they were struggling to cope with the burden they have been forced to carry.
This book is set three months after Strike and back to a familiar world that was missed in the last book. Nothing much changed, Sophie is the still the same person we know , but her secrets are coming out slowly. From that moment just knowing that she had a tough run for such a deep reason. I knew then this book wasn’t going to be the easy breezy book I wanted. I should of stopped there and left it till morning.
However I was hooked. This book is not all dark, there is moments that will grip you heart and there is others that will have you laughing. A perfect balance of light and dark which suits the book considering all things as there is a lot that happens in this book that will have fans happy. These two characters will soon join the ranks of other Spark characters, characters that we can’t get enough
As Rocca, he is not the most appealing guy. He is a disserve to himself but how can he when he got the weight of the world on her shoulders thanks to his past. He become everything that he didn’t ever want to be caring about only three things. Woman, Tequila and bikes. It should be a turn off but the fact that he willing to give Suds a room, shows there is potential . That tiny potential knowing that Sophie is a just woman he can’t seem to get along with but wants to help her.
There something endearing about him and whilst he may have one idea on his mind by letting her move in. It soon becomes everything but as they recongised they are kindred spirits.
I keep saying this with every book to date ,this is the best book of Ryder’s to date. I have followed this author ever since I read Spark and I can’t get enough. There Is no holding back from this author now. Nothing is taboo in this book, the author will take you on a rollercoaster literally as this book never lets you take a breath to process until the very last page. It was perfect in every sense and whilst I didn’t get the book I hope for . I get it as this was perfect and should these character at their rawest. When hope was lost , everything destroyed and built them up again.
First I must thank Jennifer Ryder and Give Me Books for allowing me a copy of Switch to read in exchange for an honest review.
Secondly, I love this series and Jen knows how to rock out some seriously awesome stories. Add in her knowledge of motocross and it’s a match made in heaven. Heaven I tell ya! And I think I am changing my love from this series. I was totally a Stone girl... but I think little man has been pushed back by the big tatted teddy bear that has a grumpy side. Ha. He is a real man, in and out. The emotional wire rope of this book is a good one. A roller coaster of epic proportions that has you falling in love with both Rocco and Sophie.
As usual when reading Jenn’s masterpiece the emotions flew right along with each page that was turned. Rocco and Sophie both have demons they battle on a daily basis. the same kinds of demons we as a society fight now. It’s easy to relate to their story and get sucked in so much that there are a few parts that the tears just fell. I mean, totally let them roll down like it was raining. HA. That made me fall in love with them and their story more.
Rocco’s little brother got himself into trouble and has landed in jail. His parents are gone so it’s on Rocco’s shoulders to house the frustration, guilt and anger that flow through him daily. His way of handling it.. Tequila. If it doesn’t burn your insides out it will drown them out. Sophie has her own woe is me moments from dealing with an ex that left her high and dry and in the lurch for over 100,000 dollars. Working and trying to go to school while she battles the bank to pay off all of her bills and the ones that jackhole left her are wearing her thin. Literally. But a chance at a change in her life brings Rocco and Sophie together in the same apartment. Her renting a room from him turns out to be a little nerve wrecking. Ha. that is putting it lightly though. These two fight like cats and dogs but.. damn the sexual tension that starts between them is like a stick of TNT waiting to go off.
They move from fighting to fighting the raging emotions to Rocco winding up in the ER with a busted eye from an.. unfortunate accident… but one that set off a chain reaction that after time neither of them could fight. Thanks to that when Rocco’s world came to a screeching halt and was kicked out from under him it was Sophie who had his back and pushed him to do what he needed to do to stay on the straight and narrow. To keep going and not give up. It’s a story of love, loss and new beginnings. One that I do hope we see more of in the near future. #TeamSoRoc
Switch is book #5 in the Spark series but is actually the first book I have read by this author. I was gifted a copy of the book to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.
I’m gonna start my review by saying that this book is a standalone, I believe the characters are cross overs from other books in the series but I never felt like I was missing part of the background info.
This book differs a little from the standard romance format mainly because this is an m/f romance but the lead girl is a lesbian. We find out very quickly that Sophie is in fact bisexual lol. But I wonder how many people thought all the girlfriend references at the start were typos lol.
I actually really liked both Rocco and Sophie they are both nice engaging characters and it was nice just to settle into the story.
This couple have amazing banter, they really connect as friends but right from the off they have a very sexual stream of innuendo running through all of their conversations.
I love friends to lover’s romances; I enjoy seeing people connect on a level that’s not just about ripping each others clothes off. Don’t get me wrong this book has sex and an insane amount of masturbating. But honestly I think this couple could have ended as friends and I still would have been a happy bunny.
This author had a dry witty sense of humour and I was chuckling with all of the sarcastic barbs
But bloody hell the scene where Rocco ends up needing stiches had me nearly wetting myself with laughter.
This is the second Australian book I’ve read in the last week and I’ve now come to terms with the Arse vs Ass issue. But even though I’m British and it’s an Arse over here too I still had to reread almost every time Arse or especially badarse was used.
This book turns serious and again the amazing friendship Rocco and Sophie shared shone through.
My only criticism of this book was the ending!!! I mean what the fuck was that!!! I seriously needed much more than that!!!
I enjoyed Switch but the ending left me with an unsatisfying taste in my mouth and is the reason why Switch gets 3.5 stars from me.
When I opened this book and found out it was book 5 in a series, I was a little worried it would be hard to follow, or that it would read like I had missed things. I was totally wrong. While the other characters were obviously the main characters from a previous book, Rocco and Sophie were a story of their own.
Not liking each other at first, once Rocco realised Sophie was in a bit of a bad place, he offered her a bedroom at his place. These two characters were great. The banter between them made me laugh, especially a certain night that had me in stitches; I won't spoil it but it was funny as hell.
Both characters had some pretty messed up background stories and I thought they were written very well and weren't rushed. The issues were dealt with and not just glossed over like some stories do. I really enjoyed Switch. I will definitely read more from Jennifer Ryder, and If I ever make a real dint in my TBR list I'll back track this series and read it from the beginning. A very enjoyable read and I definitely recommend it.

Rocco and Sophie - woohoo!
It has been a couple of days since I finished reading Switch, and I still don't know how to write this review to do this book justice.
I have not read all of the Spark series so far, even though they have been sitting on my shelves forever - so many book, too little time.
Right from the start, Sophie and Rocco got to me. Both so emotionally broken, emotionally brittle. To the outside world they are funny, snarky, the life of the party, but as they start to open up to each other, we see the real man and woman behind the smiles and the laughs. We see how alike they really are.
Switch delves into some darker places than you expect. Alcoholism, addiction, prison life, deceit. Nothing was sugar coated or glossed over. Ms Ryder got right to the heart of the matter and dealt with issues realistically and honestly. And boy did it get to me
I absolutely and utterly adored Sophie. No matter how sh!tty her life got, nothing and no one would keep her down. She would dust herself off and keep going.
Rocco, dear Rocco. So much is going on in his life, so much pain. My heart broke for him as one knock came after the other. I loved how even though he was hurting his friends, they kept on coming for him, to help him. That he meant enough to them that they did not desert him.
Most of all, I loved how good Rocco and Sophie are for each other. They are the salve that soothes each other's pain. They are each other's compass, keeping them on track. They want to become better because of each other.
Switch is a beautifully written, emotional story. I was completely drained after reading it, it affected me so much.
Trust me when I say you will want a box of tissues beside you as you read!
I cannot wait to see what Ms Ryder brings us next!
Switch is a romantic novel, but it's more than that. It starts off slow with the main characters actually not even liking each other. The story unfolds slowly, but in a totally satisfying way for the reader. It definitely has realistic feel to it. Switch is part of a series, but this can be read as a stand alone novel. Some of the supporting characters have their own books, so if a reader reads this one and likes the other characters and wants to know more they can go back and read those books.
Switches told with alternating point of views between the main characters, Sophie and Rocco. They have a rocky past with each other, but due to unforeseen circumstances they are thrown together. I love how the author uses the alternating views to share with the reader how each character feels about the other. This also allows for us to watch how their feelings change for each other throughout the book.
I love the main plot of the book. With that being said, each character also has their own issues they're going through individually. Sophie is recovering from a traumatic event in her past, while Rocco is dealing with something that is still happening within his family. Also, I love that this book shows that first impressions are not always true. Both of these characters had first impressions of each other that were completely negative, but through the story they slowly learn to become friends with each other and realize that their first impressions were wrong or at least misguided.
There is definitely comedy and heat in this book. Sophie and Rocco's interactions with each other are sometimes downright hilarious and make you laugh out loud. There are also plenty of times in the book where heat comes into play. I think that what I love most about this book is that the author shows a strong woman who is trying to be independent and trying to do things for herself. I like that she doesn't depend on a man to get her where she wants to go.
I also like to this book tackles a couple of serious situation. I don't want to give anything away, but just be on the lookout for serious situations that the author expertly handle and uses in a positive light for the book. Although reading it at first was kind of hard emotionally, I think that it was used in a positive way to show the seriousness of the situation and that there is ways to cope with it.
Overall, Switch is an amazing novel. I love the story in the authors writing. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend or family member. I honestly cannot find anything about this book that I did not like. This is definitely a five-star read for me.
Quote: "I'll make you a bet. You lay off the tequila tonight, and I won't hang up my underwear all over the bathroom." "You can hang 'em up if you want. I can't guarantee I won't touch them though." "Ewww, gross," I say, as I laugh and lightly punch him in the arm. "One way or another I'll get those panties," he says with a wink of one of those dark eyes. *Reviewed for Seraphim Book Blog*
Every now and then I get really strong feelings about things that turn out to be true. I had a feeling about the weekend my brother got engaged, I could have won a motza on the 2012 Melbourne Cup if I had have put money on Green Moon after the feeling I had about it the morning of the race, and for close to six months I just had this feeling that Switch was going to be Jennifer Ryder’s best book to date and there would be something very special about Rocco De Luca. Like the former situations, my feelings about Switch were spot on. This was an amazing book and there is so much more to Rocca than Patron and pussy.
Given it was just on a year since I had met both Rocco and Sophie in Strike, my memory of their interactions was hazy. I pretty much remembered how fresh Sophie felt, that Rocco had this air of arrogant bad boy and I’m pretty sure he made some comment that riled Sophie up big time. I probably should have had a reread before I got into their story. Really I didn’t need to worry about any of that though as I was completely sucked into Switch within the first two chapters. The balance of the characters is so perfect. You have poor Sophie who has a very clear view for her future but can’t seem to catch a break, and then there is the deeply flawed Rocco. Both have secrets and it’s when they’re revealed that you realise how special these two are.
I have to admit, this book was so much more emotional than I was expecting. I think I was expecting something fairly light hearted and a bit comical but what I ended up with was 290 pages that completely blew me and all my expectations away. Don’t get me wrong, this book has some fantastic light moments, but for me the brilliance lies in how both Rocca and Sophie develop individually and how their relationship grows. I am a massive fan of slow burning books and this relationship is one that perfectly simmers along at a rate that has you right on the edge and feeling everything. There’s a line “It’s been a slow burn … it’s gotten hotter over time, but there’s other shit there too. An understanding,” that perfectly sums up their relationship. They gradually progress from barely tolerating each other to developing a special, symbiotic friendship to lovers. Nothing is simple for this couple but they are a pillar of support for each other.
For me the true measure of a book is how I feel when I reach the end. Occasionally you find a book so great that once you’ve reached the end, you just want to go back to the beginning and start again. This is how I felt at the conclusion of Switch. At the risk of sounding cliched, if you only read one book this year, make it this one!
Jennifer Ryder's has gone to another level, this book is best in the series. Switch is an amazing installment in the Spark series, book 5 is by far our favorite of the series with so much emotion, fun and depth. Switch was sure to be a wild ride with the filthy mouthed Rocco De Luca and the sassy and always sexy Sophie McKenna. The banter between these two is off the charts in more ways than one.
Sophie’s life isn’t anywhere close to what she expected it would be. Her ex fiance left her with a huge amount of debt and ran off to leave her to clean up the mess. Wanting to settle down and start a life of her own, Sophie’s now living life as a lesbian. But with so much debt clouding her life, and a partner who isn't ready to settle down and start a family, Sophie decides it's time to move on. She needs to put her needs first, and build a life she wants. Staying on April and Spencer’s crappy lounge forever isn’t going to get her anywhere so when Rocco offers her a spare room at his house, Sophie quickly agrees, how much time could they really be spending together?
Rocco hasn't got the dream life either. His brother, his only family left, has got himself mixed up in the wrong crowd and is now faced with time in jail, but Rocco hasn't told anyone. He’s all he has left, and feels like he’s let his mother down by not protecting his brother enough. By day, he works as the motocross team mechanic and by night he drowns his sorrows in bottles of booze and easy women. But when Sophie moves in, he realizes she isn’t so bad to live with. When he’s not out getting drunk and filling his time with women, the softer side of Rocco starts to filter through, and we soon see everything the walls built up around himself are hiding.
"I want her in my life, not just because I need her, because I do, and she knows that. I want this girl… The problem is, does she need me?"
The chemistry, banter and friendship Rocco and Sophie share together is amazing and humorous.
"This tattoo hurt like hell, it was like the needle was grinding its way into my bones, but at the end of the day, in comparison to being stabbed in the eye with a flying dildo, it was like a tickle, really. Piece of piss.”
Every chapter left us hanging for the next. While we knew they both had secrets and pasts holding them back, it framed the story and their friendship so well. They learned to trust each other and lean on each other when they needed to. We hope we get to see more from these two amazing characters in the next installments of the Spark series.
I read this book a while back, but it affected me a bit so I waited until the angst had passed.
I have loved this series of Jennifers since the first but I will agree you can read this book as a standalone.
Sophie Mckenna has a lot of baggage, shes broke, and has had a few bad situations get her to a point where she's hit rock bottom.
When you hit that all time low you expect your parents to be there to support you - but no, Sophie's choice in partners had her parents in uproar, so she is on her own.
Sleeping on her friends couch, she's working every shift she can to pay off the debt the lousy ex fiance left her with, its not ideal so when Rocco De Luca, the MX Team's mechanic, offers her the spare room in his apartment, she reluctantly agrees.
Rocco thinks it will be fun to have ‘Suds’ as he nicknamed her staying, she won’t be clingy, and he's hoping to catch a glimpse of his own personal peep show from time to time, little does he know that Sophie is Bi and at the moment swearing off either persuasion.
He never thought he might actually grow to like her.
She never thought she might actually hate him less.
There is more to this story than a clash of personalities and the heat of sexual frustration. In fact I would say this is the best book of the series yet, and I loved them all.
The storyline has a kick of a twist that had me bawling like a baby, so be warned you will need tissues at one point.
But as the pair slowly realise that there is more to the other than they first thought, you watch a beautiful relationship grow and blossom.
I love stories that take you into the characters lives as if they are real as your friends and neighbours, and this book did that for me.
I wonder what Ms Ryder has up her sleeve to top this book, well done and I wait in anticipation for your next creation.
Sometimes I am in awe of the magnitude of emotion that authors are able to inject into their work. This is no exception. Sophie and Rocco both have pats that weigh heavily on their presents but that does not mean that they are unable to see that they need to move forward. Sophie is doing her utmost to piece her life back together following a disastrous relationship that ended on the worst of terms. It is a battle each and every day to make the day count but she is doing everything she can to survive. Rocco on the other hand is doing his damnedest to drown his demons, finding comfort at the bottom of a liquor bottle! Rocco is a mechanic who is immediately attracted to Sophie when first sees her but his reputation precedes him and she isn’t exactly keen to be yet another conquest. This womaniser may just have to look elsewhere! But Sophie eventually has to find another place to live, she can’t kip on April’s couch much longer, so when Rocco offers her a room in his apartment they have the starts of a very tentative relationship. I really felt for April through much of this story, she was wary of folk and desperate to protect herself at all costs, letting people in was something that frightened her. Rocco buried his soul underneath a barrage of bravado but his heart was a good one and I wanted them to have a fair crack at being happy, I just wasn’t sure that they could do that together. But the fought hard to prove me wrong, they gave each other a sounding board, they were able to talk about their pasts and by doing so they were able to step away from the darkness that they both were clouded in. The road of course was far from smooth and I have to say that the obstacles that they had thrown at them were almost enough to have me yelling – enough! at the kindle. Life can be so unfair, I just wanted them to be happy, but time and time again they were thwarted! This was a book that could not be put down, devoured me completely!
Sitting here trying to find the right words to write this review and struggling because there are no word to be able to do this book justice. Jennifer Ryder has hit it out of the ballpark with Switch. I needed a glass of wine after this one. Since Spark I have always always been a Stone girl. Jones grew on me in Strike but now Rocco has just over taken them, and Ryan because you really can't forget the hot detective, and taken the number #1 spot for book boyfriend. I don't mean just out of the "Spark Series" either. I am talking overall winner of the all of books I have read.
Thank you Jennifer for giving me the chance to read your baby before the rest of the world and for making me fall in love with Rocco De Luca. The line "Im about to eat the crutch out of a low flying duck" made me love you so much more than I did!
Plot: With an ex fiancé leaving her in debt, breaking up with her girlfriend and struggling to find a place she can afford, Sophie McKenna has hit an all-time low. Everyone thinks she’s a lesbian, and she likes it that way, but her estranged parents know better.
The foul-mouthed motocross mechanic, Rocco De Luca, only has his incarcerated brother left. Every day is a battle of the mind and of the bottle. Tequila and easy women soothe the pain, but they never fill the void.
Rocco doesn’t mind offering his spare room to the hot lesbian he refers to as ‘Suds’. She won’t be clingy, far from it, and he’s keen on the idea of getting to see a bit of girl on girl action.
With such volatile personalities under the same roof, and being in April and Spencer’s wedding party, they both have to learn to get along, even though they can’t stand each other.
He never thought he might actually grow to like her.
She never thought she might actually hate him less.

Meet Rocco De Luca.. no really, pick up this book & meet him!! Initially he comes across as a self- centred self- destructive jerk. Well when it comes to Sophie anyway. You soon learn thought that there is more to Rocco then meets the eye and nothing is as it seems. Sophie has had a rough time of it lately & is down on her luck. Next thing she knows, she is sharing a home with her very own pain in the butt, Rocco. Sophie, just like Rocco has lots of things going on & ends up finding a friendship with Rocco, the one person in the world she never picked. Their friendship grows stronger over time & they learn to rely on each other more than anyone else in their lives. It is really sweet. It is lovely to watch two people grow and evolve while learning lots of little life lessons & building the foundation of a relationship as they go. By the end of this story, both Sophie & Rocco are two very different people to what they were in the beginning. I will say too that these two have turned bitching at each other into an art form and this makes for hilarious and captivating reading. This is one of those books that one you start reading you won’t want to put it down till the end.
Jennifer Ryder weaves a spell around your heart with her writing and always leaves you wanting more, she has done it yet again with Sophie & Rocco’s story. She made me laugh, made me cry & made me sigh because let’s face it Rocco the mechanic is just plain hot! Ad Sophie to the mix and its absolutely explosive!
This book is well worth getting your one click finger out for, I promise you will not be disappointed, I just adored Sophie & Rocco & I think everyone else will too. I cannot wait for the next book in this series!!
I received an arc of this book for an honest review. Where do I even start, I have been following this series practically since the beginning. I even went back through and read my other reviews for the books. It's crazy to me that from the first book to now my ratings and love for this series has really grown. I started out not so sure what I thought of the female main character from book one to loving every single character that Jennifer has written. That's a testament to Jennifer's writing, she has made me feel some very strong emotions through this series and Switch was no different. We met Sophia and Rocco in Strike and the first impressions were that Soph was a strong take no bullshit woman and Rocco was a manwhore, way more so than Jones. And well that's saying a lot even with those being the first impression of them I knew that there would be more to them than that. And boy was I right this book, gah this book was so much deeper than I was expecting it to be. The evolution of these characters and their back stories were so deep and heart wrenching. But Jennifer wrote them so well. My heart ached, my heart smiled, I laughed, I cried all during the reading of this book. I would have to say that I think this is the best book in the series so far. It really was almost all about friendship and family either by blood or choice and it was amazing. These characters feel like family and I need more of them. I have to know how all of them are doing, how they've grown and if they've added to their families. I also am keeping my fingers crossed for Vicky and Billy Boy to get their story. So Jennifer if you read this please, please can we get a Vicky and Billy story?
Rocco and Sophie’s story. Two people with heavy baggage. Sophie, burned by her ex-fiancé, leaving a new relationship which is not going the direction she wants it to, is trying to put her life back together, left with an enormous burden, struggling to survive.
Rocco is dealing with daemons he feels only alcohol can help make them disappear.
The two meet while Sophie lives with April and Jones. Rocco, who is one of the team mechanics, is immediately attracted to her. Sophie knows he has a reputation as a womanizer and one night stands and is not in the least interested in him. She says. As things turn out she ends up accepting Rocco’s offer of a room available in his apartment, an offer she can't refuse after spending weeks on the couch at April’s place.
Rocco and Sophie develop a strong friendship and eventually open up about their troubled pasts to each other. But things are not meant to go all smooth. Just when they think they've overcome their biggest hurdles new ones are on the horizon.
I've read every book in this series but I think this is one of my favourite. You connect with the characters instantly, feeling their pain and their sorrows. You want nothing more then for them to find the happiness they deserve. An emotional roller coaster with all the drama and you can't put it down until you find out what happens next. Another 5 star read. Well done Jennifer Ryder❤️
This is my first book that I have had the pleasure of reading by Jennifer Ryder and I can honestly say that I will be going back to read the others in this series. I really enjoyed Switch. The story line was great and all the characters really added to the story. Sophie and Rocco had me cracking up with all their banter. Although they didn't start out as friends they grew to that and still had their witty exchanges. They ended up being there for each other when life was knocking them down and really grew to care about one another. They both have been dealt with crap hands in life that make they closed of to others and not letting people in to what they've dealt with and are still currently dealing with and to be able to confide in each other was what they needed.
This book was unlike other books where they hit it off and you get a book about their romance the whole time. In this one you get them starting off not liking each other but then growing as friends and then to maybe more. I was laughing so hard at a part in this book and then my heart was breaking at times. You will definitely be feeling the range of emotions in this book. I absolutely LOVED this book and definitely recommend this book to others. Don't worry if you haven't read the others because I didn't either and you will not feel lost at all.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I love this series so I was really excited to start this one. The blurb really intrigued me too. Sophie has just broken things off with her girlfriend. She wants to settle down and start a family but her ex only wanted to focus on her career. Heart broken but determined to find her happiness Sophie moves in with her best friend and her boyfriend.
Though she loves her BFF, she isn't so keen on the sofa bed nor the thin walls between her and the love birds' bedroom. In fact she's so desperate for somewhere with a mattress she agrees to move in with her arch nemesis Rocco.
He's loud, crass and a complete player - their big personalities have always clashed. But he thinks she's a lesbian so she thought she'd be safe from his charm. Oh how wrong she was.
As they grow closer they realise that they have more in common than they thought, and their chemistry is off the charts. But Rocco has more going on than he's letting on. Will they be able to pull through it together and put the energy they put into fighting into loving each other instead?
Really Loved this book!! It was funny, emotional, HOT and a real roller-coaster! Absolutely love the characters too. A real 5 star read!
Jennifer Ryder has done it again with this next amazing book in the Spark Series!
Sophie’s choice of men leave a lot to be desired and her parents have pretty much stopped supporting her thanks to her choice in men. She when her latest ex destroys her and leaves her in a pile of debt, she is left broke and no support from her parents whatsoever. She is couch surfing amongst friends until the sexy motor cross mechanic Rocco asks her to move into his spare room. Like the rumours, he believes she is a lesbian and this is a perfect situation for him. She won’t be hitting on him, he’ll maybe get a peek at her goods (she is still a woman, after all) and it’ll be a casual, relaxed relationship. He just doesn’t know that Sophie is Bisexual and is taking a break from both sexes at the moment.
They slowly start to become good friends but the attraction between them is obvious and something they never thought would happen.
I love a good friends to lover’s story and this book did not disappoint in that department. It is Book # 5 but can be read as a standalone and this is my favourite book in the Series!
Angsty, funny, sexy, sweet, flirty and emotional…this book has it all!
I was given a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed by Tanya.
Firstly I haven't read any others in this series, this can be read as a standalone.
Sophie makes a hard decision to leave her girlfriend Bonnie, she desperately wants children (Bonnie doesn't) and she is still burdened with enormous debts from her previous relationship, she is struggling big time. Sophie ends up sleeping on her best friend Aprils sofa, that is until Rocco offers her a room. Rocco the player really loves the idea of a lesbian lodger! However, they don't particularly like each other - or do they ?
Squeeeee ! I love this book, this was quite an emotional rollercoaster, I was laughing so damn hard in places - especially when and how Sophie managed to knock Rocco out cold in a rather unusual way ! I connected so well with both of them and loved watching as their raised barriers slowly broke down. This story as a whole - sucked me in and I couldn't put it down - that's just the way a book should be. I would've liked more from the epilogue, I really wasn't ready to let Sophie and Rocco go! I can't wait to read more of Jennifer's book.

I received a ARC from the author in exchange for a honest review. 4.5* read. This is part of the Spark series but it can be read as a standalone. I've loved all the books in this series so when this landed on my kindle I couldn't wait to get stuck in. this one is Rocco and Sophie’s story although you do see people from previous books as well. These two don't actually like each other at first but I do love a good hate book where the characters hate each other at first and then you see their relationship develop. Both of them have a troubled past question is will that affect tem now. I loved the banter between these two. I found myself at 2am laughing my head off at some of the things they came out with. Favourite seen has to be the one when Rocco ends up at hospital. Trust me you need to read it to find out why that was so funny. At lot of emotions and ups and twists and twists you don't expect but a great book overall that will have you eagerly turning each page. Loved this book and series and cant wait for the next one.
I am a huge fan of this series and this book didn't disappoint at all! I loved Sophie & Rocco's story so much, the way they bonded, their friends. So many feels from this book!! Life has a way of getting to you and the way they both have to come to terms with things, just tugged at my heart. From the synopsis of the book, you wonder how on earth Sophie gets along with Rocco!
Well let me tell you, things are interesting and there are some really witty words said to each other, the way their friends are supportive is just really nice to see. When things go incredibly downhill for someone, you cannot help but shed a tear and wonder how on earth will they get through it....they both deserve some happiness in their lives! Innuendos, I loved the storyline, seeing how previous characters are doing and I loved how it ended! I genuinely hope we read more from them in the future. Great writing Jennifer!! Complimentary copy received for an honest review!
The story has laughs, betrayal, pain, healing love, and heartbreak.
This is Sophie and Rocco’s story. Sophie and Rocco don’t like each other but when Sophie needs help Rocco steps up. They both are dealing with issues from there past. But those past issues have shaped them into the people they are today. You get to see these two grow as people and discover that first impressions are not always correct. They hate each other in the beginning and grow to love each other throughout the story. The author goes into deep issues from their pasts and deals with them in an honest and real way. The book also has a ton of laughs. I mean you have to expect it with these two. Rocco thinks he will get to see a different kind of action they he would see with a male roommate. Can these two comes together and heal each other from there crazy pasts? Or is the past hurt going to cause them both pain in the here and now?
When I first started this book I had reservations because it was book 5 and I have yet to read the others. But as soon as I started I was hooked. Yes the other characters from the previous books are mentioned in this book but this is Rocco and Sophie story only.
Both Rocco and Sophie have skeletons in their closet. Rocco is dealing with a troubled past that for him only alcohol will drown the pain. Sophie is burned by her ex when he leaves her and shes left with debt beyond belief. To everyone else both Sophie and Rocco are the life of the party but in this book you realize that is the farthest from the truth.
This book deals with alcoholism, addiction, and prison life just to name a few and Jennifer makes it as realistic as can get.
Cant wait to read the other books in this series to catch up with everyone else's story and read more from Jennifer.
I don't think there's a book my Jennifer Ryder I haven't read that hasn't made me tear up.
Rocco De Luca and Sophie McKenna don't like each other, but when Sophie breaks up with her partner and has to find somewhere to live Rocco offers his spare room. It was only temporary until she gets back up on her feet. As Sophie and Rocco get to know one another their relationship changes to a friendship with teasing and good times had by all. When they open up to each other about the problems in their lives that they haven't told anyone is a real changing point in their friendship.
I loved this book. I wasn't sure I'd love Rocco but he really grew on me.
I was lucky enough to win an advanced readers copy from Glass Paper Ink blog.
There are some things in life that you should not take for granted, one of them is family and friends.
Sophie and Rocco love to antagonize each other. After Sophie has had to battle for everything she needs for the past few years he now has a chance to stand on her own two feet.
Rocco has had his own demons to contend with and is fighting a losing battle.
Between the two of them they support each other through the hard times and find the they both have a soft heart that needs someone else to care for them.
This book can be read as a stand alone but is better off read in sequence to fet the full effect.
I was given a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review - Naughty Book Eden
I have to say I love Jennifer Ryder because I read "Switch." A stand alone part of the Spark series.
I enjoyed Rocco's and Sophie's banters to each other. That's the first that interest me the most. Their hate for each other and love deep within them that grows and before they know it they lay it out in the table.
Switch is a story of knowing who you truly are. No pretentious, no cover ups, no sugar coat just to please someone who wants to see you for their own benefit. A story of love, loss and gaining who deserves you.
Looking forward to read more of Jennifer Ryder's novels. A switch it over must read!
I really loved Switch! It was written really well and made reading it really enjoyable and i was able to read it in one sitting. The fun banter between Rocco and Sophie was fun to read, they each had their own demons but the were able to support each other in their own way which i loved! I can't wait for the next book! I highly recommend this book!
I absolutely adored this unique story about the struggles two people face while life gets them down and the journey that they take to repair themselves. Jennifer blew me away with her ability to make me connect to both Rocco and Soph and I can't wait to see more from these beautiful characters!!!!
