Rayzor of Twelve, a lonely Bounty Hunter banished from his home world, is determined to follow his mission parameters: He must extract his target from a primitive planet called Earth with zero human casualties.

His plan unfolds with precision, until a human female gets in the way.

Rebecca doesn’t understand what the hell is happening. One moment she’s scared and alone in the spooky forest. Then a seven foot tall alien warrior is gazing at her with dark passion, his clawed hands touching her reverently. He’s kissing her, claiming her and saying, his voice hoarse with emotion—that she is his Bride.

His Bride? Wtf?

This stranger is swoon-worthy, but…She doesn’t know his name, or what species he is and he’s kidnapped her, thrown her on his goddamn spaceship and now she’s speeding away from Earth to parts unknown. And he expects her to fall into his arms?

Oh hell, no.

Every now and then I like to depart from the mainstream of contemporary romances that I usually read and pick up an erotic science fiction romance. These are not to be confused with something of say, an Arthur C. Clarke variety of sci-fi. Generally speaking they are rather irreverent fantasies, products purely of an author’s imagination with very little actual ‘science’ researched for the purposes of the story. However there are certain expectations I have when it comes to such a book. I want something with some decent, consistent and interesting worldbuilding. I want well written sex but not so much of it that it overtakes the story. And I want likeable characters whether they be human or alien – in other words, I want my aliens to have some recognizable human traits. Rayzor’s One, the first entry in Michele Mills’ Alien Bounty Hunters series of novellas, achieves all of these things, and is a sexy and fun escapist tale.

Bounty hunter Rayzor of Twelve knows he’s not supposed to pick up any rare indigenous species while on the trail of his latest prey, an insectoid alien race that likes to drop into backwater planets from time to time for a little feeding. But when the mandible lands on earth and goes after a human female, the latter’s strength and determination in fighting off his quarry make Rayzor take a second look. And then a touch. And that touch shocks him with the knowledge that she’s the one he’s been waiting for, the bride that he thought he’d never find.

Rebecca isn’t so sure about what is happening around her. First she gets booted out of a car by her date who is upset that she isn’t going to put out, and ends up on a lonely forested road in the dark. Then she seems to be stuck in a real life version of a scene from the movie Alien versus Predator. Except that the scary rather buff looking alien who defeats the really gross alien has now turned his attention on her. And for some bizarre reason, she’s okay with him kissing her. But that doesn’t mean she wants to go back to his planet with him! Where’s Mulder when you need him?! Stuck on Rayzor’s spaceship, Rebecca will soon have to choose whether she should trust the one man ..errr… alien… who wants a future with her (and is a wickedly talented lover) or if she should head for an escape pod while she still has the chance to get back to Earth.

Well, this is just what I hoped it would be. That is to say, it’s a fun, irreverent, sexy romp with some laugh out loud moments, eye rolling scenes and a case of alien/human insta-love. Rayzor, a Xylan, is humanoid enough to be attractive to Rebecca, and when he touches her skin for the first time it sends the same kind of signal to her body that he gets too – that she’s meant to be his bride and no one else will do. Both of them are virgins (because in Rayzor’s culture you only get one mate) but for an alpha male he does show a surprising sensitivity to Rebecca as a weaker human female and their first mating proves that he’s going to be careful with her. He also is pretty knowledgeable for a virgin, and Rebecca certainly won’t have any complaints in the pleasure department. (Once you go Xylan you never go back).

Because she doesn’t have a lot of ties to Earth it’s easy to accept the idea that going off with Rayzor in his ship isn’t going to be particularly heartbreaking for her (though she’s rightfully mad about not being given the choice). The worldbuilding is well done, interesting and inventive. Rayzor’s family history is delved into, as well as the current life he’s leading as a bounty hunter and why his feelings for Rebecca are so strong right from the start. Also, I love all the Star Trek and Star Wars references. (I caught that cheeky Han Solo one, by the way ;)). The steamy scenes are well written (as well written as sex with an alien can be) and there is enough conflict to make Rebecca and Rayzor have to make some tough choices if they want to stay together. You have to suspend your disbelief a little but that’s par for the course for this type of sci-fi romance (which admittedly is not going to be for everyone) and it holds up well compared with other stories in the genre. The couple gets their happy ending, and there is a cute epilogue too. I look forward to reading more set in this world.

4 1/2 stars. I really liked this book its fast but this is one of those book you just enjoy reading. I blew though this one so fast because I didn't want to put it down, and I only did when I had to. After a horrible date Rebecca is dropped off on the side of the road to walk home by herself. Thinking she see's a crash Rebecca goes to investigate and help if she can. What Rebecca see's changes her world.

Rayzor is the number one bounty hunter and he plans to get the outlaw no one else can and retire for good. Going to the primitive planet earth Rayzor is about to capture his prize when he see's Rebecca and soon realizes she is his mate. But Claiming this earthling isn't easy not only are earthlings endangered but it's against the law to take them.

With her world turned upside down Rebecca can't believe their are aliens and one has taken her. And what she really can't believe is the attraction she has for him. Now Rayzor and Rebecca have everything on the line and their future may be taken away from them just when it's getting started. I love alien books and this one was perfect Rayzor is a perfect hero Rebecca is his and he will do everything and anything for her, and a bonus . Rebecca and Rayzor were perfect for each other. I can't recommend this book enough, yes its short but it's really worth the read, and sometimes shorter book are a nice change and this one definitely was.

3.25 stars!!

I wish that this book was a little longer, that way it would have been fleshed out a bit more. However, it was a quick, light, steamy read filled with sex, love, hot alpha aliens, and mayhem!! Certainly my type of read when I'm trying to wind down and read something fast while also not hyperventilating due to unnecessary drama. Liked this!!

First time reading this author!

I loved this sci fi romance. It was a quick read, but packed in lots of cool world-building details, a very sexy protective and possessive alien hero, a short but interesting storyline, and a heroine who goes-with-the-alien-flow. I will be reading more in this series. Can't wait!

He chased, kidnapped and claimed her then growls 'mine' hah!!

You can't do that with a 'mere' human guy without the police chasing on your back, can you? Lol:)
Yup, 3.75 stars for full entertaining smut factor!
It's a fun read novella and free on KU too:)

Rayzor’s One is book one in the Alien Bounty Hunters by Michele Mills. I read this on Kindle Unlimited. I was looking for something new to read in Sci-Fi Romance and the blurb made this sound interesting.

This is a quick, fated-mate read that rapidly changes from a promising start to questionable themes. The plot involves non-consensual contact which is justified in the story by intense "fated feelings". There is no courtship or character development; the relationship is instantly established on the premise of "You are my Bride." Last, the book features abundant explicit content and very little drama, ensuring a rapid resolution for the main couple.

If you're seeking a filthy, fast-paced sci-fi read with little substance or character-building, then Rayzor’s One may be for you. I myself will not be reading on in the Alien Bounty Hunters series.

Good

A quick, novella length read, about an alien bounty hunter, and the human mate he discovered when retrieving a bounty!

This was an enjoyable, fast read, perfect for a lunchtime or beach, or just one of those times when you want to escape but don’t have a lot of time to do so!
This was the first in a series, and there are subsequent books that are interlinked.
Fun for all sci-fi romance lovers.

My love for surly aliens finding their special someone is as strong as ever. I don't know what it is about badasses being brought to their knees unexpectedly, but I can't get enough of them.

Rayzor certainly fits the surly badass bill. He's a bounty hunter who's been cutoff from his home and his family. He's pretty much given up on finding his special someone. He does the job, he takes whatever risks are necessary, he keeps pushing forward.

Then Rebecca crosses his path and things take a turn sideways.

While I'm not normally a fan of a lady ending up mated to a dude without realizing what's going on, this one didn't bother me so much. Razor's "friend" stepping in to do what he did was WAY more bothersome. Seriously, with friends like that, who needs enemies?

Anyway. Alien lovin' and sexy times on a spaceship. I'm in.

I picked this book up because I enjoyed another series by this author. This book was short, but it got to the point, and I liked Rayzor. I really liked that she felt the instinct like he did. It made for an exciting story.

If I were Rebecca though I think I would have freaked out a heck of a lot more. She handled things much better than I was expecting, especially from the first meeting with that creepy alien dude.

Loved the narration. The fact that is in his POV most of the time I wasn't expecting that, but it was a pleasant surprise.

Bounty and the Bride

Great Sci-fi Romance. Short, sweet, sexy and straight to the point. A human girl lost in the woods meets up with a giant alien bug about to have her for a snack when a sexy, alien bounty hunter rescues her, claims her and takes her for his bride all in the matter of hours. She's whisked off the planet bound for his and he won't take no for an answer. Can he convince her that they are fated mates?

Rayzor just wanted to get his bounty off from earth, deliver it, get his pay, and retire. Rayzor has a bumpy landing but finds his bounty right awsy, the trouble is, the Mandible has already found a human female to feed from, Rayzor has to get there before she is hurt.
Rebecca can't believe her awful taste in men! He left her on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere!
This book is best for adults due to sexual content.
Rayzor's One is a short sci-fi romance. I like that this brings hope to a banished male. These aliens sure do like human hoo-ha even though they consider human females weak and even sometimes ugly. I like the thought of others out there aside from Earthlings.

I really should give this a lower rating cause the consent/kidnapping thing is really bad...BUT I love the set up for the hero! The whole "can't get aroused until I find my bride" bit was genius! Loved it.

Maybe if the characters had been developed a bit more we could have understood where the hero was coming from and why he did what he did. Instead we get a mess of "but you're my bride" said over and over and over again as if that phrase would fix anything.

So yeah...there are some problems with this story but it's still sexy and fun. Excited to start book 2!

I love the way these stories come together! Rayzor's One begins this series and introduces us to these Xylan warriors and the women they fall in love with. Rebecca was having a bad night when she meets Razor. The action moves pretty fast, it was a fun read with a good story arc. I enjoyed reading this first one! Although neither one thinks they have anything to offer each other, they each find something in the other person that makes them better, stronger, more complete.

Rebecca and Rayzor definitely have an interesting first meeting. This is an interesting way to find your mate and start the mating.

So the book cover isn't great so I almost just passed over it but the story isn't actually bad. You need to suspend some belief but not a bad smutty read for a Monday night.

I don't know why I keep reading books where the hero kidnaps the heroine lol. Again, I like the premise and background on this alien species. He wasn't completely empathetic, but wasn't as bad as other males either. Overall, really quick read with a HEA.

So to be honest, I only picked this up for the cover. I don’t often see such beautiful black men on Romance covers unless it’s a book written by a black woman.

When I started reading, it felt a little cheesy: capitalizing regular words to denote importance; hero who can’t even feel desire until he meets his fated mate; a lot of author created words, etc.

But it quickly took a dark and racial tone for me: the author forces the point that the heroine is very fair and small while the hero is incredibly dark, big and strong.

“…her skin was so colorless it seemed to glow. He frowned. He’d never seen a species so lacking in pigment.” – location 528

“The discrepancy between her non-color and his royal pigment proved to be unexpectedly pleasing”
-location 266

“He met her gaze, looked into exotic blue eyes – a color no one on Xylan possessed…”
-location 273

“Why would he consider this non-colored, flat-faced and freakish, tiny creature to be beautiful?”
-location 280

“The night was dark, but his skin was darker and magnificent…”
-location 400

“She kicked at him, trying to get back up. He was so freaking strong and big. It was as if he didn’t notice her blows; they were nothing to him.”
-location 400

Then let’s add in the section where the hero makes the heroine RUN through the forest at night…only for him to catch her, rip her panties off… And perform cunnilingus. O_O And then have rough but virginal sex (cause they are both virgins).

Ok. I’m sorry. But this just has soooo many racial undertones I just can’t.

Ray and Becca

I stumbled upon Michele Mills as I was leaving a review on another book. It looked interesting, so I thought it couldn't hurt to pick it up to read it--I guess I'm more prone to do that with Kindle Unlimited. Anyway, Rayzor is a bounty hunter who takes a job no one else wants because it's thought as a suicide mission. But the toughened, Xylan, takes the job and ends up finding his Bride. He also finds the redemption that he shouldn't have had to look for--all because of his father's actions. How horrible to have to pay for your father's betrayal. Together, with Rebecca, he has the future that he has always dreamed of. I am going to put this author on my TBR pile from now on! I borrowed this book through the Kindle Unlimited program.

The writing wasn't too bad until the sex scene. Then it became choppy and unrealistic. One second she's scared, fighting, and saying "No!" "Stop!", and then in the next breath she's all into the sex. It went from 'hell no' to 'oh well I'm all of a sudden turned on, so why not?'. It just felt a bit too 'rapey' for my tastes. I'm into the forced seduction when it's written well, but sadly this was not. I really wanted to try and power through the rest of the book, hoping that it would improve but gave up in chapter 5.

This book was good, they just do not have enough pages to read I like big books with lots a pages..I useley don't buy short story books 📚 it's a waste of good money 💰...I almost always buy books 📚 with 4 to 5 hundred or more pages..if I wasn't reading this series I wouldn't have brought the rest of the books 📚..even though the short stories are good.

I tend to be attracted to this type of storyline. Not a bad read. It's somewhat short and simple. One critique is that, even assuming a translator is working well, Rayzor's language could be less human at times.
