"My name is Leah, and I never planned on finding the other half of my soul at 19 years old. I didn’t think I’d end up co-leading a pack of wolves with said soulmate, either, but as a wolf shifter, I guess I shouldn’t have bothered planning my future anyway."
Being raised to believe she was a member of the lesser gender in a world where humans and shifters coexist in peace, Leah is determined to change her people's culture. She'll give up anything to do so--even the other half of her soul, if that's what it takes to make a difference.
Unfortunately for her, the other half of her soul is a stubborn Alpha, and he isn't nearly as ready to let her go as she is ready to let go of him.
Between fighting off shifters and discovering what it really means to be someone's mate, something will change, and it's not the world.
Oddly enough, I never wrote reviews for this series (that I know of so far). I also really wanted to dive back into this series. Can't really tell you why but I have a feeling it's because I never really wrote anything for these books. Maybe, but no idea right now.
More than a Werewolf was a cute book. Short and to the point but cute. Unfortunately, this time around I just didn't really care about the characters. Maybe the first time it was more exciting but this time around I was just bored. Which is why my rating definitely went down and might continue this path throughout the series.
In it, you will meet Leah and Ty. I don't know what drew me into them beforehand but they were just cute. Not a lot happened between them even though I wish it did. I was looking for some sort of smutty romance but I got nothing. Maybe that's why I'm just kind of bored with everything. Smut has ruined me.
Overall, I guess I'll continue with this series just to see if I feel the same or not?
So I was really bored. Like really really bored. I was super intrigued by the book blurb.. but the execution was not upto the mark. There were too many things going on which made this a jumbled mess. One minute the heroine Leah was in love, next minute a feminist pushing hero away. One minute Ty was sweet and caring, next he was watching as his injured mate wobbled away. It was a YA-ish book with no sex scenes. There were villains, shifter misogyny and something called coties which my brain kept autocorrecting to cooties. Totally not for me 1.5/5
Honestly, I don't know why I liked it so much read I read this the first time. For all Leah was fighting for equal rights for women in the shifter community, she sure did seem to accept how Ty was treating her the same way pretty much. He wouldn't take no for an answer, touched her when she told him not to, held things from her, watched her hobble up to him by herself in pain WITH A BROKEN LEG and didn't offer her any help because "that's just how things are" and lets not forget the best one. He literally told her he was going to talk her out of following her dream to come be his house wife!!!!! Girl please, if you stay with him after he does all of that then you're no better. With that being said, he did come around eventually and made some real changes to how women are treated in his pack, and hopefully in the whole shifter community. But still. The fact the she continued to stay with him after all that was astounding to me.
Sidenote: I can't wait to re-read Sav's story. Her's was always my favorite. But I think her running from her mate for no reason is ridiculous
I loved this new view on werewolf and mates. It was more than just a werewolf meets their mate, they fall in love with this person they never met and live happily ever after. I love the voice of the author in this book and the personalities of these characters!
Leah has dreams, that don't include being tied down to a werewolf pack but that is all about to change when her mate shows up at the diner she's working at. Not only is he a werewolf but the future Alpha as well which would mean that Leah is now the Omega last wolf in the pack. She knows that isn't what she wants and attempts to push Ty away but he refuses to give up knowing that they are each one-half of a whole makes it hard for her to let him go. Only Ty is the only one who wants Leah but the leader of a rival wolf pack the Rockies has been hanging around following her.
When the Rockies Alpha requests they bring in Leah a car accident forces her to visit the pack she's been trying to avoid. However, while staying at Ty's house she learns the true meaning of an Omega not just the last wolf in the pack. Sweet Leah falls for the demands of the women and helps them escape the men who have forgotten how special they are. Can Leah teach the men to love their women again, or will they be gone forever? What happens if the Rockies alpha won't give up? Could it end in war?
I like Leah right from the start she wants to do more with her life and thanks to her group of friends she has dreams for the future of the shifters. She's stubborn and determined not to give them up for her dreams of making changes for female shifters but she learns that she can do it with Ty and the pack. I like that we get little conversations between Leah and the other girls as they are going to each have their own stories. I like that it's also a clean sweet romance you don't find those very often. The author has taken the shifter concept put her own spin on it and created a beautiful series. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the girls get their happy ever afters as well. However, I think Leah will always hold a special place in my heart.
I'm full of mixed emotions about how to write this review. It had good and bad things I felt. So I will start with the good. The author did a great job writing the story. She clearly spent time on the plot and the book was well edited. Sara Summers certainly has skills as a writer. The characters- Leah was so stubborn and prideful. She wanted to be independent and stand up for her beliefs. Ty was so determined to win her over. I did enjoy the mystery that was woven into the plot. There were a few things I didn't see coming. I love shifters and soul mate books. I find it romantic to have someone so special that they fill the other half of your soul. That's a rare thing in the real world so just the concept is romantic. Okay, here's the big part of the book I didn't like. The book is very feminist. I'm all for girl power and being treated well by your man. That being said, this book hammered the concept into you and hard. I'm a bit of a feminist myself, but it's an agenda here. This is fiction and it's what the author felt compelled to write. It's a great book. There just needs to be a warning label in the description that it is a book about feminism. It's not a topic that everyone wants to read about. That's my only gripe. Overall, I liked the characters and the story was solid. I'm giving it four glittery stars and look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I had high hopes, maybe too high. I honestly could not finish this one. The idea was great, but poorly executed. I'm not sure how this book has so many great reviews? It is filled with typos, grammatical errors, shallow characters, and a writing style that can only be described as off-putting.
This was an interesting book. I thought the characters were very dramatic and really needed some wise adults in their lives, but I'm glad they learned from and faced their mistakes. At first I thought this was a major man hating, woman superiority preachy book, but the characters actually grew together. Also, it wad clean, which was really nice. I'm giving it four stars rather than 5 because the characters had the emotional maturity of teenagers and it had me wanting to put the bok down several times. Otherwise, it is a fun new take on shifters.
I really wanted to like this book. The premise is amazing. There were even a few little gem moments, that I won't point out because of spoilers. All in all, though, the writing felt very underdevelopped and a little sloppy. The character voices and point of views weren't consistent. The story pace was very erratic, too fast and undetailed in some places, and too slow or overly descriptive in others. It also felt very much like a soapbox for feminism in the 1950s but with both sides having very one-dimensional viewpoints and arguments. Ugh, I wanted to like this so badly, but I just couldnt.
I really liked this story. I loved even though they were mates they got a chance to know one another. I also like she didn't give in so easily. I do think she forgave him to easily when he messed up but I understand why she did. It was different because they were more like humans but with an animal. They didn't heal quickly and the whole world knew of their existence.
First read by a new author and so far so good I really enjoyed this book not the best book I have ever read but it would make it to my keep shelf .. ;) I can't wait to read the rest of the series I must know what happens to all the shifty girls :)
Wow talk about female equality in a pack I saw her points and I agree still goes one even if not a shifter. But females have a right to be independent but it will be better to do it with there loved one next to them.
I love this book. I love the main characters. This book made me say " you go girl", laugh and cry for Skye. I'm exited to start reading More than a Panther.
It was a short, fun read, but it was a little shallow. Solutions were too easy, and there could have been more character development. But it was still a cute story.
I really liked this book, this was my second time reading it but I couldn’t remember it at all, so it was like reading it for the first time. I liked the whole, I want to make a change plot line and I liked the whole Omega being rediscovered plotline, but I thought there was a lot going on overall. Leah was a strong female character, which I like but I thought she was really delusional at times. But I can accept it, seeing how male shifters could treat their mates. I also dislike *spoiler* the whole, it’s the woman’s fault and men were treating them right from the start, yeah right *end of spoiler*. Ty was sweet, and caring, and hot and then he wasn’t? Like his whole personality changed in a minute and it left a bad taste in my mouth. I liked this book but I won’t be reading the next ones.
More than a Werewolf begins with Leah finally finding her mate and the other half of her soul. The problem is, however, she doesn't want to be treated how most female shifters are treated, which is to say, not equally. So, she does her best to resist the mate pull, but that doesn't seem to matter, and her mate keeps showing up around her.
This book wasn't great, but it was okay. I liked the overall idea of the story line, but I felt like the actual execution was lacing. I did like the heroine, and I liked the hero sort of. But, I felt like there wasn't much between them, and I also didn't enjoy how the heroine was trying to change everything, but she really didn't do much to have it changed.
Other than that this was a nice story to pass the time with.
