CliftonStrengths for Students — which includes a unique access code to take the CliftonStrengths assessment — helps students discover and develop their strengths and reach their potential.
Discover and Develop Your Strengths — in College and Beyond
College is a chance for you to start fresh. You get to learn and grow in ways that will amaze you. You get to write your own story.
So what do you want your college story to be?
As a student, you have the opportunity every day to search for patterns in your actions, learn from them and use them to make the most of your life experiences, now and in the future. To do that, you need a solid understanding of where and when you’re at your your strengths.
CliftonStrengths for Students will help you discover and develop your strengths — and reach your full potential.
This book includes an access code to take the CliftonStrengths assessment. After you take the assessment, you’ll get a list of your top five themes of talent, which are the themes you lead with. Once you know what your leading themes are, you can begin to turn them into strengths.
CliftonStrengths for Students will also give you suggestions for developing and using your strengths in college and in the real world. If you understand and apply your strengths, your college journey — and the rest of your life — will be happier, more fulfilling and more successful. That’s the point of developing your strengths. When you do more of what you do best, you build your life around your areas of greatness.
So let’s get started. Your strengths journey begins here!
I read this book due to a job on a teen library committee and actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. My strengths results were Achiever, Input, Restorative, Discipline, and responsibility. This did not surprise me too much but I was really glad to learn how to use those skills in my school work and life. I would recommend this book to any student especially more college students considering the book is targeted around college students.
I work in Student Life at a major university and we read this and also took a quiz that reveals your top 5 strengths. I really enjoyed this and thought it was very informative. I recommend giving it a read and taking the quiz. Please note the following!! 1) This one is specifically for students. I believe there are other general ones, but they are all basically the same thing. 2) You need to pay for a code in order to take the quiz. I believe it costs $50. I'm not entirely sure because the university paid for mine. 3) There are 34 strengths total, but you only receive your top 5. If you would like to see all 34 ranked, you can pay extra to do so, which honestly, I think I might!
Completed this assessment for a team-building exercise at work. My top 5 are Learner, Developer, Positivity, Adaptability, and Empathy which was not surprising. We also unlocked all 34 and my bottom 10 are of the Influencing domain. This is a helpful guide to understanding each theme and how to make them actionable.
Easy reading, but not so applicable. My high school son did the on line test after reading part 1 of the book, but there was no real insight on what career he should choose, or what career would be best for him, according to his profile.
